    I need to clarify an error about the Epson projectors. In the video I said they produce a 2k image but it's actually higher than 2k but less than 4k. This is what Epson calls "4K Enhancement". It's super sharp but not quite 4k. I know.....confusing. Here's a quick breakdown to make it make sense:
    1080p = ~2 million pixels
    Epson = ~ 4 million pixels
    4K = ~8 million pixels

    • @mrpmj00
      @mrpmj00 3 года назад +1

      My projector sits on a shelf in back of the room at 17' so your list would be a lot shorter if you narrowed it down to my most important requirement 1.5x or higher optical zoom Hence, I bought the Epson 2250. with 1.6x zoom.

    • @joshjlg
      @joshjlg 3 года назад +2

      I don’t mean to pile on here but neither the HTC or Epson produce a “4k” image. You need the $5k+ projectors for that. They both use pixel shifting to make it look like 4k from further back with the HTC looking “sharper” than the Epson, but still not 4k.

    • @joshhyyym
      @joshhyyym 3 года назад

      @@mrpmj00 That's not how projector zoom works. You are talking about throw. Zoom allows adjustment of the throw ratio. You could have a short throw projector with a 10x zoom and it wouldn't give you the right screen size at the end of your 17' room.

      Idk if you bought one yet but don't listen to his recommendations for under $300. I literally have nothing the goodee yg620 and the apeman lc650 right now. The goodee is brighter and more vibrant at close range however they're about even when outside at night from 15 feet away. However the Apeman is light-years better as far as picture quality goes. It's extremely clear and literally is 1080p tv quality unlike the goodee which blurs any detail in the image.

    I own the UHD50X and can confirm it's a fantastic projector and did initially display the issues presented in the video. I was informed by a service person after already shipping the device off to them that the issue is firmware related and a firmware fix would be provided. The only solution for the time being was to flip inputs. Frustrating for a $1,500+ investment. In addition, there was a random intense flickering that I experienced that felt power-related and would appear at random. I was super frustrated about the experience but they replaced the board and lamp for me. When I got it back, I have experienced neither issue and it's been flawless. Hate that I had to deal with warranty issues so early but at least Optoma held up to their reputation for service.

    I'm thinking about getting either
    - benq 3350 (input lag unfavorable)

But it does work.

      The only annoyance I have with it is the built-in speakers. If I disable the internal speaker, a no audio icon overlay appears in the top right corner of the screen - permanently? WTF? I don’t know if I have the upgraded firmware or not - but this seems like a really stupid decision to superimpose an icon over the image with no way to dismiss it. So as a workaround, I have to leave the internal audio enabled and turn it down to 0. Weird.

    LOVE this video! I have the Epson 3800 (just got it recently and LOVE it!) AND the Epson 2150 (which doesn't support the 4K input or have any smart functionality, but my Xbox One X takes care of a lot of that stuff)! So happy to have the Best Gaming Projector AND Best Projector under $2,000 in my possession! Otherwise, I LOVE my Epson 2150 as well! Just got a new bulb for it and it's going in the guest bedroom to replace the Flat Panel TV there! Another GREAT video @Chris Majestic ! Maybe one day I can get a 5050UB or MAYBE even a JVC in the future! I agree with a lot of these even though I am suprised the GooDee beat Vankyo's V630 performance, but I can def understand. I have heard a LOT of great things about the GooDee projector. Stayin subscribed for the UST video!

    I'm assuming you haven't actually used these projectors. I bought both of these based on your recommendations and figured I'd compare them to see which one I liked better. The picture quality on the goodee is not good at all. Small details are blurred. The apeman is 1080p tv quality though as you stated not as bright. However both projectors at night 120" screen roughly 15 feet away the brightness isn't even noticed. All in all the Apeman lc650 is hands down (based on actual side by side comparison of both projectors in my position now) the better projector. The goodee yg620 has better speakers, is a little bit brighter, has a nice case, BUT I feel like I'm watching it with my glasses off compared to the Apeman which feels like any other 1080p tv experience (quality wise)

    From my observation...
    Why is it that the BenQ TK850 is better in HDR rendering than the BenQ HT3550... The HT3550 has a tendency to just make the entire sky one big purple void, while the TK850 actually kept the sky blue and with alot of cloud details.

    For gaming with an Xbox SX or PS5 it's more than fine if a projector can only do either 4K or 120hz but not both at the same time. Currently, I don't think that there is a single game that runs at 120FPS at 4K on the PS5 or Xbox Series X. Sure there are games that run at 120FPS, but they usually have the resolution lowered to 1440p or 1080p, and there's games that run in 4K, but they usually run at 30-60h FPS.

    Chris, thanks for this, best projector for 2020, video. I need to know, if the Benq HT3550 or TK850 are much better than the Optoma UHD50X? I just bought the Optoma because I needed a replacement for my Epson3020 and wanted to go 4K in my theater. I am still in the return window for this Optoma. I could not find any content with a direct comparison and was not sure if I really needed to spend more than 1500 to get a really good uplift in image quality for my theater. My room is dark and I have 120 inch white screen that I am thinking about replacing with a cinema grey screen to increase contrast levels for my projector. Also, I don’t game in this area, but that could change. Would love to have a more detailed conversation with you on all of my planned upgrades because your opinion in much valued.

      As long as you don't have the issue I mentioned in the video then UHD50X is a great projector. However, the HT3550 is better for movies. The uhd50x is better for gaming.

      @@ChrisMajestic Thanks for the reply. I am not currently seeing the issue you mentioned, but I will check the firmware and update just in case. Also looks like I will not be able to return the projector with a huge 20% restocking fee, even if I get the Benq from the same vendor. :( So I might have to ride with uhd50x. Not feeling the $300 dollar cost to change projectors. Should have bought it from Amazon. Lol.

    For anyone wanting to go with the Optoma UHD50x, It does NOT have CEC! So your stuck either manually turning on and off and controlling volume controls in a receiver setup for the projector or you will need to add some sort of remote capability such as logitech smart remotes to control your system flawlessly, which is annoying if you dont have something like this already setup.

    When it comes to the contrast ratio, if your not doing your own test to determine a projectors true contrast ratio then it's best not to even mention it since EVERY manufacturer lies about them. I had a 3 LCD Sony TV (7" projected onto 48") when Sony used to buy the 3LCD license from Epson and it was the best TV I've had.
