I bought the Epson 1080 about a year ago and still absolutely love it. Straight up 1080p image, which at 120in is REALLY good, and the brightness in daylight is comparable to a tv. Didn't have to break the bank, hands down so glad I went with it rather than a big tv.

I just switched from my old trusted 1080p projector a BenQ TH681+ to the Epson 6250. It used to be with the 1080p projector I could walk up and count the pixels on the screen but not anymore 😊
Even these cheap "4k" projectors are a lot sharper than the 1080p ones. The only issue is they cheap out with only hdmi 1.4 ports on the machine.

I bought my very first toy projector yesterday! Really enjoyed the experience. I just wanted a big screen and am not a big stickler for quality. I only watch movies at night and the area in my house I am projecting to is equivalent to a 65 inch TV maximum which would have cost me ~$600 at least. So it was a no brainer for me. Will consider updating to a pricey option eventually.

Nice video for new projector enthousiasts! I followed your previous advice from your previous videos and now I have almost for 1 year the Benq TK850 and I am very satisfied from picture quality both sunny days and dark nights. Though for everyone new to this subject it is better to check for a projector with keystone correction (horizontal and vertical). It will make your life easier.

mmm, appreciate the effort for doing this video but, actually, the interesting part of doing a video about how things stand about projectors in the current year is specifically about the brands and models: which once are dated or, rather, which ones remain high up despite having 5+ years since release, for example.
Tech moves way way faster than most of us like and within only 2 years the scenario can dramatically change. So whats good about this type of content is check wether that brand we just saw from a 3-year-old video its still rocking or not.
Many of this things you cover in the video doesn't really depend on age and haven't changed at all after all these years.
You are a killer youtuber, though (as you probably already know to well) and your extremely dedicated and super well made videos are very very helpful for many of us. so, thank you for that

In relation to projectors for business, the main limitations that you mention and that they have for being used in home theater, I have seen that the new EPSON EB-L570U greatly reduces them; Rec709 color coverage, 10 bits color processor, 4K pro enhancement, HDR10, dyn. contrast 2,500,000:1, V+H lens shift, large throw ratio, low noise, Laser Ph. The drawback that can be made is that, although the luminosity can be reduced from the original 5200 lum to 3500 lum, it is still too much for a dark HT. Since you cannot adjust the iris manually, I thought that using an ND filter could reduce the brightness considerably. We would have to try it and see how it performs in HT, since it costs half the price of the L12000 and is much smaller and also has a media player.

Great info! Looking for a recommendation! I'm in a band that has a 6 foot diameter scrim in the back that we want to put video onto. Room will be mostly dark. Projector will be truss mounted. Ideally we want a 12 to 14 foot distance throw. The projector we have now starts to be in focus at 17 feet away but we need to be closer. Trying to accomplish something like Pink Floyd on a small scale. Lag is not important. True color is not important. Most important is at least 6 feet high from 12 to 14 feet away. Thoughts?

I had a business where I designed, sold and installed home movie theaters. With the appearance of flat led screens and wireless surround sound, projectors went to the wayside. You can buy a 90 inch 4K LED screen with perfect image, color and definition and sound for about 2K instead of spending 10 to 20K for a movie theater set up with a projector.

I’m stuck between choosing an upscale projector for my purpose built home theatre room with an approximate projection size of 180-190 inches. It’s come down to two shortlised products in the same price catagory. Between the BENQ LK935 and EPSON LS12000B which would you recommend for a dark home theatre room. While the BENQ has higher Lumens and black ratio, it’s been listed on the official website as a conference room projector. While EPSON is marketing their product as a home theatre solution specific for content watching. What would you recommend since it’s quite an expensive investment and I don’t want to buy a product which won’t satisfy my requirements. Thanks a ton and always appreciate your quality content :))

At $1900 I think the PX1 pro is a steal. The Formovie has better blacks, contrast, and color but not worth an $1100 premium over the Hisense. Are you sure it was a PX1 pro and not a PX1?

@@ChrisMajesticThe px1 has almost identical specs though minus some brightness. Have you any experience with the px1 non pro version? Ive seen a few for 1500 dollars but im torn between that and the bomaker polaris which is also only 1500.. Hisense is a more known brand but heard the polaris has hisense parts
