Projectors have one HUGE advantage. You can change the picture size. This is very important to me because movies have different aspect ratios so I want to change pictures size which is impossible in TV's.

@@livedavid2 I'm the opposite. Bought a projector back in 2012 and then bought another in 2020. Both were decent, but I'm about to get a TV again to use in the living room and as a monitor. I can't stand the noise projectors make when the room is silent and they aren't nearly as good as TVs have become. Seems like there's still an issue with bulb life, flickering and refresh rate. Maybe they make sense above $2000, but I'm usually looking for something from $500-1000.

For UST projectors, you also have to factor in the screen. Because buying an UST projector without factoring in the $650 and up for an ambient light rejecting screen is folly. UST's fire light almost straight up, the projector screen *needs* to catch that light and redirect it forward (while rejecting light coming from above, or ideally all directions - the latter requires a fresnel screen design).

So while I do usually only watch at night anyways, I like having the OPTION. I'm thinking about getting a tv, despite the fact it won't b a huge display. However, I have a lot of stuff in a small room anyway so a huge display probably wouldn't be possible anyway. The only downside I can see to a TV is the sound would be with the TV so I'd have to make it louder, whereas my projector is right over my bed.

I bought a $700 65" Vizio smart tv for my Xbox Series X and had a more enjoyable experience than I did with a projector that costs more with less tech but a bigger screen. Another thing you got to look at is the cost of the bulbs in the projectors. If your spending just as much time on a projector as you do on a tv then sell the projector and get a tv. Or just buy an Apple Vision Pro? I've so far not owned/had a TV since moving out of my parents house and I don't miss it. Vision Pro is my next entertainment purchase.
