Amazon projectors are cheap chinese trash. Most have fake listings like the guy said. Anything under $500 bucks is low quality really. They still work but have the expectation of a low quality and not so bright image.
Will be waiting a few years for 4k laser projectors to drop to around 1200$. Can't justify paying 2-3x times more for now. Good simple and well edited vid. Thank you. PS I've been a long time projector fan... since about 2007. The main reason I want to switch to a LED/Laser projector is not just because the bulbs go out quickly, it's that the overall brightness slowly drops and it becomes all about compromises: "Is it worth opening the projector tonight?" "I need to go out 30 minutes, do I turn the projector off?" etc.
I would love to wait few more years but i'm already on a 11 year old projector dying to be upgraded. I suppose I can save up for the Epson LS11000 for another year and just get that, otherwise we'll be waiting forever.

Those few 21,233 awake days can be cut down to just 17,690 awake days from day ur born to day u turn average life expecancy of 75
id rather just replace the bulb, what, every 2 years? By the the time you're onto your 3rd bulb, technology would have moved on and it's time to upgrade by then. The cost benefit of a Laser projector lasting 20000 horus is moot unless you plan of keeping it well after the technology has been superseded.
Totally agree with this sentiment. With my living room laser projector it's instant on and off and I don't even think about the hours of usage really. With my lamp projector in my theater I feel guilty if I turn it on for 30 minutes of gaming or whatever. And, yes, the lamp projectors subtly dim over time and in fact in my experience there is a steep drop off during the first 500 or so hours then it levels out for a few thousand hours where it very slowly dims. Wouldn't it be nice to not worry about that...

@@tldrinfographics5769 yes, plus the projectors themselves degrade over time. I have an older Epson Home Cinema 8100 LCD (I think that's the model) in my theater and the image now has a red line at the bottom of the screen. So even though I could buy another bulb and the brightness would be back to its original glory the projector itself has failed over time (I think that model was first introduced in 2009). 20k to 30k hours is probably what most of these projectors can do before things start to fail. I got probably 10 years out of that model before I had problems but obviously if it was used as a living room tv it would be more like 7 to 8 years for typical usage.
I bought a Optoma hd20 back in 2007 for $800. Today 2023 I have replaced the lamp 4 times @ $50. = $200. So I added total lamp hours to 24,000 hrs. So for me lamps are the way to go. I bought that LG LED version just recently, enjoy it thus far. Chris' earlier review of that model contributed to my decision. @@project25055 well for be Epson Ub6050 is the bare minimum for black levels and that projector has only around 5000:1 native contrast. Those LED DLP's have horrible contrast, under 1000:1, so no, I won't watch any serious movie on such a projector. But I have a dedicated dark room. I agree that most people don't care about image quality and only few knows how images are suppose to look in terms of both color accuracy and contrast. Also I have seen people with Sony and JVC high end projectors in rooms with white walls so... I hope next led projectors from LG and others will improve on contrast couse they have very good software inside but hardware wise they just don;t give a sh- iet about it.
People with bulb-based projectors need to know that most of them can buy the bare bulb at considerable less cost than the bulb assembly. For my JVC RS-540 the difference for me is almost $300 dollars less. That means I can buy ~3.7 bare bulbs vs one bulb assembly.
True my replacement bulb would have cost $150. The con is convincing people that they need to buy a whole new assembly with the bulb. I got a bare bulb from from China on Ebay for $30. I have been using it for over a year now with no less quality image than the old bulb.

@@georgepopescu1327 It may not be worth it. I think the Led offer enough pluses to outweigh black levels. I am not sure about their lasers now, but in 5 or 10 years they should be much better. People usually do not worry about black levels until you hit the JVC range of projector perfection.
Which bulb is it ? Where to buy. Thanks.
True my replacement bulb would have cost $150. The con is convincing people that they need to buy a whole new assembly with the bulb. I got a bare bulb from from China on Ebay for $30. I have been using it for over a year now with no less quality image than the old bulb.
