    We do well to remember that he performed the rod bearing clearance test first, which is very important because if it doesn’t pass: there is a possibility of internal engine damage, and if so: replacing the knock sensor will not fix the P1326 code, or the flashing check engine light.

  • @passionateexplorer6896
    @passionateexplorer6896 Год назад +9

    The check engine light flashing due to knock sensor and constant knocking might be due to several reasons. I own a hyundai sonata and I had this problem. But It was nothing to worry about the engine because it was a factory recall to UPDATE the Sensor Softwar. Initially the local autoshop told me to use the engine warranty and get a new engine while the engine was totally fine. So, I gave the car to Service center and they Fixed it for absolutely NO COST!!!

      Turns out it was just the KIA vehicle's SOFTWARE, not a hardware failure at all. So always get yours tested; the shop might be able to update your onboard firmware to solve the CEL issue.

Can I still have a warranty so i could take it to KIa dealership for engine replacement since it still has less than 10 years and also less than 200000miles? suggestion?

    Once you changed the knock sensor , do you have to reset or delete the dash display ?

  • @aelaan12
    @aelaan12 Год назад +9

    For such a common engine issue as a knock sensor this one is way too hard to remove and the result could still be same error code because the bearings have too much clearance. Our Kia Soul is in the garage, it has the KSDS update done and the engine all of a sudden started with this. First thing they said is that we have cheap fuel and this is the problem. But that causes knocking in the upper, not on the rod bearing, but at the valves. Plus we do only fill up at proper stations. So they want to reset the code and let us drive for a few days, maybe enough days for the 4th cylinder piston go through the engine block and put the car on fire. The car always had its maintenance at the intervals it should and has less than 60k miles on it. Also because the KSDS is already done the engine's warranty is extended to 200,000km or 125k miles. For people having this issue you need to go to the dealer and have the KSDS update done if you haven't. Have the dealer or a certified Kia mechanic change the knock sensor and do not do it yourself because you do not have the proper tools to measure clearance in your home garage. It needs to be documented, I can not stress enough that dealers and Kia HQ will find any reason to not approve the engine replacement.

      Kia just replaced my engine at 189k after engine light came on and diagnostics revealed knock code. Knew oil was going somewhere but never saw leaks or oil lights on the dash. But anyway, dealership did the claim and I didn't have to submit any maintenance records. While they say it's an uograded engine, crossing my fingers. Never saw such clean oil on a dipstick before ... literally transparent!. Lol

    I would recommend that anyone watching this video to please be aware there is a recall for several models regarding the knock sensor.
    One is for a software update and one is for premature engine failure. Hyundai has extended this warranty to 10 years or 120k miles.
    Clearing your light or replacing the sensor yourself could complicate your chances of having it covered.
