    As long as the owner has the software recall done, that specific code "with a knock" automatically qualifies for a new engine on Kia's dime and a new 100,000 mile warranty on the engine block. Just my experience on my 2013 optima @ 80,000 miles. The dealer should be replacing that knock sensor along with the software update.

      It might be worth noting that the powertrain warranty covers the original owner of the vehicle only. Some coverage rolls over to second owner.

    • @jerrycrumety1571
      @jerrycrumety1571 2 года назад +4

      @@scottthibodeau1788 yes but this is a different scenario after the recall software update which now puts a lifetime warranty on the engine, regardless of owner. I will however back peddle and add that this is only for 2011-2014 2.4L and 2.0L turbo engines. We can't post links but feel free to search "kia recall P1326"

      @@omaromar13 Good question, the campaign letter does not specify "mileage" I would assume that with such high miles you would need to provide dealer maintenance records. I would call a couple dealers on that one.

    I had the same issue with my 2016 Sonata 2.4L, and after reading the comments on this vedio, I took it stright to Hyundai. They ask me for a carfax and service recepts. I gave them the carfax, but I was missing some recepts, and they still replqced my engine under the warranty for free. They said there is no specific warranty on the new engine but if anything goes wring I could always come back. This process took almost two months, but still worth it!
    Good luck to all Hyundai and Kia owners dealing with this recall.

    The check engine light flashing due to knock sensor and constant knocking might be due to several reasons. I own a hyundai sonata and I had this problem. But It was nothing to worry about the engine because it was a factory recall to UPDATE the Sensor Software. Initially the local autoshop told me to use the engine warranty and get a new engine while the engine was totally fine. So, I gave the car to Service center and they Fixed it for absolutely NO COST!!!

    Dallas Auto...When you replaced the old sensor harness with the new harness (from the C2010 kit) you noted that the other end of the new harness had 3 wires, one wire being "blue" which goes to pin 61 on the computer's rear connector which you said was the shield ground. What is different from the old connector? That one had a "black" wire instead in pin 61 which I would assume was also the shield ground?? Was the new shield braid going around both the sensor interface wire ("red", pin 63)) and sensor ground (the other "black" wire, pin 62) on the original harness), or just the sensor interface wire (on pin 63)? After installing the new harness, when you started up the car and revved it up and it ran OK, had you already cleared the P1326 code, or did the "fix" clear the code automatically? If you cleared the code before starting the engine, the car probably would have ran OK on it's own, at least for awhile until the faulty condition was detected and set again. Did you follow-up later with the car's owner to see if the problem ever came back? I am asking this because my car has the exact same problem with only 40,800 miles on it, and Hyundai dealerships here in San Antonio tell me it could be months before they can even look at my car to troubleshoot and verify the problem. As a result, I cannot even drive my car because of the possibility of causing possible extensive, irreparable damage. I would really appreciate a reply. THANKS!

The young lady has the light flashing, car goes into limp mode and the code is p1326. Using my ears it doesn’t sound like an unhealthy engine at all. The symptoms you’re describing are just like the problems she’s having but when I look up this part number and enter the vin it says the part does not fit.
