- In this video I show how to make ground beef 2 ways. I discovered ground beef at Aldi's for $2 a pound! That's not an error, 2 bucks a pound. I bought some and decided to make this video and see if it was any good. IT WAS GREAT!

I mistakenly said Sam's Club at one point in the video. This ground beef comes from ALDI'S!
When I raised steers, I’d tell the butcher to toss in everything. The kids were eating liver & tongue and never knew.
They call them "warrior burgers"
I rather eat that then a loaf of high fructose corn syrup that's inflaming my pancreas and brain.
I put all the organs from poultry in stuffing
I simmer them first and mince. No one knows it’s not muscle meat
N I have rich broth to use with the pan drippings for gravy that they also love!
I eat a pound of 75/25 ground beef every morning. At PriceSmart, our Costco equivalent here in Panama, I get thirty-pound boxes of premade half-pound burgers. Sixty in a box for $60, so $2 a pound. Three boxes a month gives my wife a burger a day, our dog two burgers a day, and two a day for me. So easy on the budget! The dog gets his raw with a raw egg. I cook them for my wife and myself on the BBQ; mine still bleeding, my wife's cooked to a more civilized doneness. I'm 75 and loving carnivore!
Yes!
That dog’s eating good!
@@cilo902 He's 9 months old. Smart -- he knows the name of his 7 toys. He is extremely strong and very quick. I guess that just like the proper human diet allows us to function highly, so does the proper canine diet! I cringe when I see those expensive carb-laden dry dog "foods" in the stores.

"If it isn't simple and quick it doesn't fit into my lifestyle" 👏Couldn't agree more !!! That meatloaf looked delicious 😋
We're going primal
My Mom's meatloaf rule of thumb was always one egg per pound of meat, blend that together and then add the crumbs as needed to make the right texture, not too dry, not too sticky. Then I put it in the loaf pan and put bacon slices over the top in a cross hatched pattern. Lace it together like a basket weave. I don't have a fancy phone cooking app but I find that when the bacon is crispy, the meatloaf is done.
Your mom has been making meatloaf much longer that I have....lol Good ideas
@@OldGuyCarnivore She was a great cook. Taught me everything I know.

I am in the UK and I swear by Aldi's ground beef. I want the cartilage, the connective tissue and the organ meats. The highest fat ratio I can get is 20% and I buy it by the pound. I add Wagyu patties to increase the bulk and flavour and fry a few eggs on top. Food of the gods.
Yes!
I just watched a 2 hour episode of Master Chef. Could you imagine an episode of Carnivore Master Chef ?!? 15 minutes max. 😂😂 They'd only be choosing between Himalayan or Redmond's salt from the pantry before rushing back to their stations. 😂
That's funny to imagine. No veg, no garnish, no dessert....10 minutes max.....lol
Here in Australia with Aldi one kilometer from home I will see if we have minced beef in a roll, but I doubt it will be there. They do it in a tray. Cold meatloaf is good, too.
Have the same problem in Sydney, our Aldi ‘s are nothing like some of the American ones .. it sucks .
The holy grail of carnivore lol. Well done Sir.
You are the Bob Ross of carnivore cooking!
Lol
I found that my local store pulls all the dated meat and marks it way down, often around $3.00 lb. I have even found ribeye's in the mark down bin. I have to get there around 10 am to get the best selection.
Eating like a king!! Me, too, but as a queen.
SAME!! My Safeway marks down Ribeye, filet mignon, Beef flanken short ribs all the time. 30 to 50% off regular price! I get there before 8 am or it's all gone!🥩
Watching your vids is like looking at my life in the mirror my friend. Your practical simplicity so resonates! 😁👊😁
You mean there's more than one of me? Scary thought....lol
Love carnivore and your channel. Personally, I stick to the grass fed beef as much as possible. I don’t trust corporate America and what they’re feeding cattle at feed lots. Besides, the meat our ancestors ate grazed and thrived on photosynthesis…I want that nutrition in my food, too. Keep it up brother!
I saw that in my Aldi's today, and left it because I have freezer full of beef!
I get those 5 pound frozen Aldi ground beefs every time I am there. Good video
I make the same basic recipe for the meatloaf, except I dont always have the crushed pork rinds, so it'll be beef, eggs and salt and if I can afford it, bacon on top. I gave away pretty much all of my kitchenware, except for a few muffin tins. I put the beef mixture in them, and cook til they are crunchy around the edges. I also use the muffin tines for egg muffins, which are chopped cooked bacon, salt and eggs mixed together, great 'hand helds'. Glad to see more 'older' people on Carnivore.. tho in truth CV makes us younger than we were a few years ago :) (69 here, the oldest and only carnivore among my group of friends, most of which are still SAD, except my daughter who's keto)
Great video! I like to make a meatloaf using a meatloaf “package” from my store that has 1/3lb each of ground beef, pork and veal. I mix it up and just add egg and ground pork rinds and salt after cooking. Very fatty and flavorful.
That works great, too.
Oh, yeah, the tri-meat package sounds like it’d make a more tasty end result. Good idea, thanks.
Flavourful?? I am vegan for 8 years and when I pas a butcher shop, I almost vomit by the stenches of corpses. How can you even eat those products, coming from animal abuse?
Looks appetizing!

How muxh time do you need to mix up ground meat and eggs?

Legend!!! Thank you to make this video!!!!! Especially the burgers, as i was one that asked for it!!!! I dont like ground beef that much on carnivore...because i dont cook it right!!! Now i am confident i can make a great burger and something of a childhood favourite...meatloaf!!!!!!! Now i can stay carnivore and save money with ground beef!!!!! Brilliant. Thank you
Glad you enjoyed it!
I totally agree!! Even Dr. Berry would agree. Bon appetit. I eat a lot of 73/27 on carnivore. I get it much cheaper than Aldi's at an ethnic grocery store in my area. I have never liked shopping at the German owned Aldi's but I may have to give them another chance. Thanks❤❤
I got some yesterday...made smash burgers on my Blackstone. Fantastic! Love your videos!!
I am on my way to Aldi! I never see a deal that great in Oklahoma City!
Just found the channel. Excellent content. Was getting bored w my eating. Thank you sir! I’m 74. Started 2 months ago. Love it!
Welcome aboard!
Although I like to go grass-fed beef when possible, that five pounder is just too good a deal. Plus I like that higher fat ratio! Thanks yet again, Mitch. PS, bones, femurs, have wonderful marrow in them, and a section or two in the crockpot really adds beefy power to the chuck roast.
Thanks Alen, I just finished half that meatloaf and I'm stuffed!
I eat grass fed organic hamburger from Walmart for $5.88 lb. in a three lb pack, about half the time. The beef steaks are from the local grocery store.
@@catea2551 I pour some on top of the patty, then I put chopped lions mane mushroom in the pan, brown it, add a few eggs, scramble them, getting all the drippings. Sometimes I even have to add butter. Lions mane, like all mushrooms, are not plants. The breathe in oxygen and breathe out CO2, as we do. Not sure if it's exactly carnivore, but I use this and other mushrooms for their medicinal and culinary properties. There's lots of reishi and chanterelles growing near my house, turkey tail too. The Lion's Mane, I have to buy. Thanks for your patience, if you get this far.
I also made chicken thighs on the grill today and when they were done i added (franks red hot sauce mixed with butter), and put that sauce on top of the chicken after it was cooked. Was fantastic. Ate a burger too ,helped balance the fat. Franks hot sauce has zero carbs, zero sugar. Now my favorite chicken .....
Looks good. I make meat loaf like this only one thing I do different, I broil the top of the bacon to get a crispy texture. I’m going to Sams and pick up some of that hamburger! Thanks for the video..
Aldi's!!! I misspoke one time in the video
Thanks, Mitch. Love the simplicity of carnivore!
It is easy!
I'm so glad I found you! I'm going to Aldi tonight. I hope mine has this roll of meat.
Not sure if you know this , but Aldie's is owned by the same family that runs trader joe's. I remember watching a television show here in Southern California, where they talked about. The german family that runs both companies.
I think you're right.
I came across your channel by chance and now I'm thinking about trying this diet. I'm the type who only likes to eat once a day and loves steaks and burgers. I mean I really only eat steaks and fish for the most part anyway. 👍
Sounds like you're almost doing it anyway
thank you so much for this new video of another carnivore recipe! i love the simplicity, and you're right to make it fun it is really motivating ! thanks for taking the time to explain and showing every steps !
I just got 25 lbs of the ground beef from Aldi's. Thanks for the heads up on the sale. That was my first time shopping there. I'll be back... they have great prices.
I'd like to watch a video about all the positive changes after a year of carnivore. Your success story. Can't find it in your other videos, besides the before/after pics.
I have a video I posted earlier this week about then and now. ruclips.net/video/CW7VnEg4YtM/видео.html
The meatloaf recipe looks fantastic! And you seemed to love it.
I wanted to mention today is the first I've seen your channel. I've subscribed, of course. I'd also like to note that your skin looks great. I noticed you don't have "tissue paper" skin on your hands or arms. I'm thinking carnivore must have a lot to do with that.
Best wishes. I hope to see you again soon.
Thank you, see you soon.
Nice to see that the pork panko and eggs did their job and held the loaf together.
I'm thinking set the internal temperature to 150. Take out the oven and set the broiler to high and stick it back in for a minute to get a little char
Yes crispy bacon. 😍
It's unbelievable how healthy you did four days
I buy my pastured eggs at Sams… cheaper than Aldi and have orange yolks… Aldi are yellow yolks
Those are the eggs I use. Come 18 to a package and the yolks are definitely orange.
Great work! i called my suprmarket chain and they 5-lb 80/20 for $18.90. haven't priced costco yet, where i'm not a member but i could go with a friend. thanks a lot for your help!
That's a good price
Great looking MEATLOAF!!
I really needed more salt. Next time I will increase it. Anything with bacon on top can't be bad!
Oh boy!! Guess what I’m going to look for at ALDIs tomorrow. But I bet they won’t have it . Meat loaf looks fabulous Mitch .
Love your kitchen.
Thank you for your amazing and really carnivore recipes. Great content!!!
Glad you like them!
If you add pieces of cheddar to mix.......yum
Bravo for today video.
I drove for American Food group, and delivered alot of it to Aldi's, It is pure beef.
Thank you
That's a great looking meat loaf.
Yummmm 😋 I did this last night in meatballs and poured over homemade bone broth. I save all my eggshells and bones to cook in my crockpot for two days out in my garage. Easy peasy. And i get a second use of my eggs for the calcium . 😊
Great idea
I look forward to your videos. Almost to 10k!
Thank you Todd.
For the right texture add a bit of milk or heavy cream. It is milk that changes the texture to a meatloaf texture. A couple tablespoons are all you need. Also marinating steak in heavy cream will tenderize a tough steak.
That's true, but I've eliminated all dairy from my diet. That would be great for a anyone that is OK with dairy. I would lean toward the heavy cream with no lactose.
I bought some bison cube meat,
Tough!
How long do you let in marinate in the cream?

Looked very tasty😋! I can get 10 Ibs of 1 Ib chubs of reguliar ground beef for 2x that price in my area and it won't go cheaper. I put it in my large frying pan and flatten it out to fill the whole pan. I slow cook it and poor the fat from it in a cup and drink it!
I've never gone that but I'm sure it is good for you.
Just found your channel yesterday. Been binge watching since, after subscribing! I am also a sugar/carb addict.

That is one of the better products at Aldi for sure. The other stuff in the tray has additives. Also, watch for the ground lamb when it is available. It comes at a great price
Thanks for the tip!
If you do seafood, they usually have wild caught tuna steaks as well for a great price. My Aldi's sometimes has wild caught shrimp from whatever that company they use as well.

The only thing I would possibly add other than salt is garlic powder and onion powder. I would like to see a chicken cutlet breaded with pork rinds next recipe. Thanks in advance 😂👍✌️

Currently off work with an injury and on Short term disability (a lot less than normal income). Trying to think how to eat cheap. Loved your video as usual. I have an Aldi’s nearby. This find could save my bacon😂
That same ground beef at my Aldi's (73/27) is priced at $12.65...and for only 3 lbs!! I can't believe how different Aldi's could have such a big price differential. My Aldi's doesn't have any ground beef in 5-lb rolls.
Aldi does prices things according to location. Still cheap, 2.50 a pound
Yes they’re all different from different location.
Check the freezer section. I have bought it cheaper because it’s frozen. It is still very tasty!
I love you so much because I also shop primarily at Aldi and Sams! I have purchased this once years ago
Someone told me about this in a comment, but it didn't register at the time.
It's just boneless beef, no organ meats. Beef trimmings are used to produce this meat. It's 100% ground boneless beef!
That's what I thought. I'm very happy with it though.
I don't buy pre- packaged ground beef. I prefer to purchase freshly ground beef from my local butcher. Whatever meat is on sale that week goes in tje ground beef. He adds more fat for me. He also reduces (50%) all meat on the "sell by" date and I get first dibs. My faves are from the local grown/raised cattle - rib eye and new york steaks.
That sounds great!
I don't know where you live but on the West Coast the best deal I've found is 10# for $31.82 at Wal-Mart and buying bulk at the other stores runs $15 for 3 lbs. And since I started buying it they've raised the price $2 twice in the last two months. It started out at around $28.
Who knows what they're doing with prices these days!
@@OldGuyCarnivore I would like to know what excuses they are using to justify it. Probably because more people are becoming carnivore. 😀
@@bodaciousburgundy I did hear that California now requires pig farmers to basically give each pig its own private room! Don't know whether that's true but I will explore it. The world gets crazier by the day!!

GLAD to see this--- I'll go get some of that too.. I love meatloaf- but wthout the ketchup that I use to use-- it's NOT meatloaf to me. After a year on carnivore I have NOT lost any weight- and I have NOT lost the "desires and cravings" for all the stuff I use to LOVE...

Good evening from Copperhill Tn.
Hey Richard
Been carnivore for about a month now. Loving it. I would like to know if you are opposed to chicken breast. Yes..I understand it’s very low in fat. But I personally enjoy eating it. Not to mention it’s also on the cheaper side . I cut it into cubes and wrap with bacon and then either bbq it or use the air fryer. I also eat plenty of fatty red meat but I was just wondering your thoughts on chicken breast. Thank you. I enjoy your videos
Nothing wrong with that at all.
I need to be more observant. I have never seen this 5lb roll of ground beef at Aldi's. I only see the 1lb rolls. I'm going to Aldi's tomorrow.
I never noticed it either. Prices may be a little higher based on location, but I think it will be a great affordable alternative for some meals.
@@OldGuyCarnivore Yes it does vary. My area has 3lb rolls for $12. You are in a great spot. LOL :)
@@sunnystar3321 Yes I am until I have to dodge the next hurricane .... LOL
@@OldGuyCarnivore Oh No!
I go to a very expensive butcher shop, ‘mash-finished’ beef, I get the trimmings for $2/lb.
I’m struggling with the same issue you mentioned in your last live. I have been increasing my beef fat intake to go along with my 2 lbs of meat the last several days trying to stem my weight loss. Trying not to be too aggressive though as I don’t want the runs. So far I’m up to about 250 grams of fat. Will see what the scale shows tomorrow.
Try not to weigh yourself all the time.
If you eat a ribeye with a lot of marbling, the chance of "running" is less than from fat from ground beef. So maybe start with steaks. Then have some 85/15 ground beef. The beef Mitch is showing here is more fat than just the 15% so I wouldn't get that for myself.
How long did it take to cook, for those of us that don’t have a meater?
@@betsyeberle8116 I use two rounds of 20 minutes at 400. I flip it after the first go. I also line the bottom of the tray with foil paper to catch the rendered fat which solidifies nicely at room temp. After my 2-3 lbs of beef fat cools I cut it up into approximately 100 gram chunks, they resemble fried fish.
Personally I need a way to keep myself accountable many of us still fight food addiction
@@kathycallahan6810 We all do. I don’t know your circumstances but in general we have a lot of free time in life as we age and our lives simplify. If we have the time and the energy we need to fill up that time with things that give us satisfaction or accomplishment. It could be volunteering for a local community little league, food pantry, park clean up, etcetera. We could join a gym, take a swimming class in the YMCA. Enrichment of our lives by making new connections is a way to move ourselves away from food addiction. After a fulling day of being busy we can come back home relax and enjoy a fulfilling, nourishing meal and look forward to doing it again the next day or whenever the next class or volunteer opportunity arises.
I need to do some research into the ammonia hydroxide that is often used in these low cost meat tubes. I am almost certain that the Cargill packaged beef tube sold at a big box store uses ammonia hydroxide in their process.
Maybe, but nothing on the label.
The only thing better than the Wright Applewood smoked bacon is the Wright pecan smoked bacon! Lol I've basically done the same thing with my meatloafs the last couple years, but if I have time I cook them on the smoker.
just checked our Aldi's and they only have 3 pounds for 12.65 so wow, you get a lot cheaper than FL!
Prices are location based unfortunately. Still pretty cheat meat.
You mentioned your tastes change once you get used to this diet; so does baked meatloaf become equally as tasty as fried hamburgers daily?
Seems so. Mine just needed more salt

Salt for 1 pound of meat…. Is 1 tsp salt & 1/2 tsp pepper…
According to Ina Garten, the Barefoot Contessa, three meagre shakes of Redmonds will not do! You want a great tasting meat loaf…not a bland one!
