One other thing I have to say is thank you to NVIDIA for being good sports about letting me do this video my way. I could have gone the normal boring route of "This is the Titan, it has blah blah blah..... and performs blah blah blah...." with pretty b-roll and called it a day, but they thought this idea was hilarious and told me quote "We would never tell you to do anything other than what you want to do, thats not how we operate" So KUDOS to NVIDIA! Hope we are still friends after this :P
just putting out there, but since it's for "professionals" why don't you do 3D renders, if you don't have 3DS MAX, then do the blender benchmark, i'd like to see it in terms of raw compute power, so can you do it?
i mean, primier is not even stressing the GPU

Keep in mind maxwell's Cuda cores are 30% faster than the Kepler(gtx 7xx series) Cuda cores, so the 3072 of the titan x are actually quite better than the 2880 of the titan black. I hope I got the names right :D

Boy oh boy!!! The amount of people saying that this card is still not good enough for 4k before seeing the results live on camera make me laugh so hard. Whats it like to get owned so hard? 4K gaming (although not cheap by any means) on a single GPU is finally here for most titles! The future looks amazing and as a technology snob, Im happy we are here, even if I still game on 1440p personally.

The number in the corner is rigged, that's why. The cinematic experience is where it's at.
BrainSeepsOut Cinema usually runs at 24 fps. Television runs at 30 fps (29.97 for VHS), american cartoons run at 12 fps (doubled, so 24 fps if ever needed), Japanese animation runs at 8 fps and really old school camera ran at something like 18 fps.

Anti Alias settings on control panel vs in game settings. a video focusing on nvidia settings would be cool. also a video focusing on AMD/ATI settings would also be cool too. some People say nvidia and ATI are like comparing Coke a cola vs. Pepsi and it isn't.
thanks for showing the gameplay and the in game settings, that stuff is important to me. instead of doing generic benchmarks that don't mean anything. Bench marking anything in a open motherboard is useless. temperature is vastly different in a closed PC case vs open air test benches
Stuff like that are things id love to see on youtube. most PC enthusiast channels are guys reading the back of the box of the components they are reviewing. then overclocking it for...reasons? and then comedy. same old same old. linus barnacules, NCIX, Newegg, tech of Tomorrow, jaystwocents, Pualshardware, they are all just Sports reporters talking about the same game.
well pualshardware and tech of tommorw do actually focus on single components at length sometimes like motherboards or wireless specs.

This card performs really well, but everyone seems to ignore its power draw and the loud cooler noise. When overclocked this card pulls as much power, AND is a loud as a reference R9 290X.
Yes this card is powerful, but so was the R9 290X when it came out, everyone shot that down (and still does..) because it used 20W more than the 780Ti and the reference cooler was terrible, yet this card is absolutely amazing?
Isn't it funny how those things suddenly don't matter when nvidia make it...
Sam Cooper The big GPUs from NVIDIA have always drawn a lot of power. Seeing what I have seen about 390X draw, you are going to be pretty unhappy.

Yet the titan X, while impressive in performance, relatively speaking isn't as fast as the original titan was, draws more power, makes more heat AND doesn't have the FP64 performance the original titan did.
Ignoring the fact that the 780Ti was the fully unlocked die, which in itself was faster than the original (obviously not happy about that too, but that's not really relevant), whereas this is the unlocked die.
I don't mind heat or power draw personally, I just hate hypocrisy.

that green logo is why i buy all reference i don't care about overclocking as much, BUT if they do come out with some type of reference looking water block with that green GEFORCE GTX logo, ill be all over that, and then i could overclock the hell outta it
An OC'd Titan X is almost as quick as two stock 980's so for a single card form factor the amount of performance is amazing. No SLi problems, less power draw, less heat etc. They are a touch overpriced here in the UK at £870 for the lowest priced version but if you were to purchase two 980's you are only looking at 4gigs of graphics memory and you're paying more.

Illusive Man Jup and the fact that you can watch movies in 4k on it for just 150/120 is amazing.
This was the first video I've ever seen of jay, and it's still surprised me the performance of that card even though it's been 6 years, though cards can do 8k at 60+ fps. Still really cool seeing something like this back in 2015

It still pisses me off that the Titan X isn't *technically* a Titan, since it has no increased DP compute performance, but it's still $1000 (DP compute was one of the selling points of previous Titans, now it's gone, but price is the same, thanks Nvidia!).
You want DP, just buy one of the other Titans, problem solved...

Do you ever read comments on older videos? I have an EVGA GTX Titan X 12gb Hybrid and I cannot overclock mine above +25 for the GPU clock offset and +458 on the MEM clock offset. I see everyone doing around +200 and +500 but i cant get close to that on the GPU clock for some reason. Could it be my bios?

It's the beginning of 2015, and we've already hit 4k gaming on a single card.....
People here in the comments are suggesting to wait for 3 years.. some even say 5 YEARS.. i really hope it doesnt take that long for 4K to become the new 1080p or at least reasonably priced instead of the ridiculous price for it right now.
Oh yeah, definitely. It still is not cheap to do this, but the fact that we've now finally started to reach into that stage of gaming is great, and at this rate, I think 4k may be a common thing in possibly even 2 years or less!

WoahDerBUD You can overclock a 980 very far as well though. I get 10800 on firestrike at stock, but you can see plenty of results for overclocked 980's that go 12k-13k.

If I had 4 of these then yea... if I can even afford an 8k monitor. Just 1 of these cards can support 4k in highest settings by itself. This is the real futureproof card

what program are u using to test the allocation of vram on ur gpu?
im looking for some help im running a 4790k (not overclock) cooled by hyper 212 evo gtx titan x maxwell (stock clocks ), 16gb ram. im running the timespy 3d benchmark and notice that every other second there if a drop by 10-15 fps( this happens everytime i run the test). can someone please help.
Fun review Jay! I have two asus gtx970's running on my x99 i7-5820k, and while running stock speeds (not cpu) i get almost exactly the same FireStrike scores you got! I know that doesn't directly correlate to gaming and 4k gaming would probably fuck up my vram but still i found that funny. And for direct compute the titan will have the upper hand i'm sure but i would like to see some price to performance 1 Titan X vs 2 970 and similar comparisons with 4k gaming in mind. I have also read that DirectX 12 might make possible the use of both cards in sli's memory which if TRUE would give 970 sli effectively 7 GB of vram which should be plenty for most games even in 4k going forward.

Had to look that up and see for myself but I also found this "There is a catch though, this is not done automatically, the new APIs allow memory stacking but game developers will need to specifically optimize games as such. An interesting statement.". Developers are often lazy and with the current trend of not supporting a given feature because a console can't use it anyways makes me doubt about how good this will be.
davidcapi Then i really hope Nvidia pushes to get that feature into games as soon as possible! But i see the challenge when it's PC only, if only this could be done with drivers or through geforce experience then i would be more optimistic! I don't have a 4K monitor yet anyway so it's no big deal but i will buy one sooner or later and it would be awesome to be able to utilize my 970's to the fullest when the time comes ;-)

I want to ask you which GPU should I choose for Gaming, Rendering, streaming, ?
It's not really a professional card any more since there is no more dual precision in the Titan X so there went the price justification.
CapnTates Its still placed in the middle... and for professional media creation where Double Precision isnt used, its an amazing card for media. I actually noticed a drop in rendering performance going from 780s to 980s.

I'll be getting the overclocked version - is the overclocked version any different - i mean, if i can overclock it myself is it worth the extra $ getting this version? +Nicholas Brown every spring a new Titan is released by nvidia but if you really don't have time for that I recommend the evga Titan x hybrid since it hybrid card which means the gpu's core is water cooled and the ram is air cooled also consider over clocking the card since its a hybrid

The thing is, that the people that send Jay his equipment, would not be too happy about it if he started selling things that he got to test.
I'm sure that you can do a giveaway, at least once in a while but it would not be wise for him to do it too often or without the manufacturer's blessing. If Jay did do these things with the equipment that he receives, he would most likely not receive very much. The manufacturer does not want you to make money off of Inge that you get for free/promotional purposes.

The Titan X is under powered and overpriced. For the minimal gain it gives over a GTX980, it is definitely NOT worth $1000. I say no thanks and will patiently wait for the next generation Pascal GPU or AMD 300X series cards.
30-50% difference between the 980 and Titan X. I would not call that minimal.
Synthetic mostly and not in real world games... Besides, to be worth $1000, the Titan X should provide 200% performance over a GTX980 and not just 30-50%.

Dan K point is you have to look at how much its worth by comparing it to other products "worth" at their price point. Something that's $500 may not be worth it if the product only cost $200 to make but if other products that are similar cost $600 then it is certainly worth it. Worth depends on the user anyway. You also have to look at it from a technological stand point. They managed to cram the power of 2 780's into one GPU. Can you imagine how much R&D was spent on doing that?

If i would have a titan x for free i would sell it to a newb enthusiast and buy a crossfire of the upcoming r9 300 series. And get 20% better performance for alot less money = profit
Razvan Dragasoiu The graphics card market is a very short window market. So that means that people will buy the Titan X and enjoy it for a few months before the new kid on the block comes out. Then it'll be back again to Nvidia. The fact that you would have to crossfire those AMD cards to achieve performance is important as well, because crossfire (and SLI) have issues with some games. Other games of course run them perfectly. Basically you pay 1k for a hassle free 4k experience, which to some will be worth it.

The Quadro K6000 is equal to a GTX780TI in most gaming situations, but there can still be lower performance in some situations up to 10%. So there you go, you'll be paying 5000$ for something that is not even as good as something worth not even a 10th of its price.

Did you see the system requirements on this? 24GB of system memory.... most gamers have 8, I have 16... I CAN go to 32, but, if I want 2 of these in SLI it seems you need 48GB of system memory. Don't take my word, go check the Nvidia site.
So if it scales the same, 3 Titan X's would need 62GB of system memory? Geezus, I mean for gamers, if you're doing a lot of photo/video editing and encoding youtube videos and the like and have the money for it I understand, but the requirements on this beast are beastly.

Chris D I would think so as well, but damn that is a lot of ram required. Suppose you're trying to squeeze into a Titian X, you'd have to get more ram first. I mean most gamers have 8, that's the current common wisdom on a gaming build, I went with 16, but would need to push in 32gb to gete a single Titian X, because I'd rather get 2 sticks of 8 rather than just 1. I'd have to fill all the slots. Dunno.
