Almost 3 years later, this card is in my Rig, still a beast
@ArcticSparty i just got one used. it's a monster and has no trouble at 4k in any modern titles.
@@certifiedsexhaver8400 I’m trying to get a etc 2080 ti for cheap, I’ve seen a Facebook listing for a rtx 2080 ti for $680 which is just crazy but I’ve checked the face book profile and the dude is real but will see if this is a scam or not. I’ll keep you updated
Aye same, I love my 2080ti, glad I couldn't stomach selling it for $500 like some owners did, it's still serving me good
I got a 2060 rog strix oc edition and it preforms great! I was wanting a 2080ti but the prices are through the roof so I settled with the 2060, Idk if I should upgrade since it preforms great for me, and I can game at max settings on every current game I play at 120 fps on average. The only reason I haven't upgraded is because my psu is 600 watts max and I haven't used my 2060 a lot and it works great for me. I just feel bad because the 2060 feels old to me with all the new 30 cards out now.
Yeah honestly, I have a 2080. I’ve overclocked it pretty good at this point, seen results of stock 2080 vs a 3070 and it’s made me me find upgrading to that card pointless. Will wait for next generation
You know, us "regular guys" with multiple RTX 2080TI cards
Steve Martino cuz you know, preorders for us plebs have even shipped yet. Oh wait they havent. Fuckers.
It's cheaper than a 1080ti right now
nvlink rip on new games dx12 dont support sli :/
Good point
😂😂😂😂
We made it boyzzz only like 5000 years until comfortable gaming becomes affordable
Gaming will never be affordable lol
lucky you, im still using a gtx 760....
A 1060 is more on par with a 980, but 970 is still really good
what do you mean lmao 970 is a great card still i run one in my main rig, i can still play AAA titles at ultra and get 60-100 fps, great card to sit on until the 1080's drop to 400-500$
I feel your pain. I got my 770 running strong
Great video Jay. Shoutout to Phil for that installing of the card editing. Had a good laugh at it.
Strix is still my fav lineup of graphics card, I've had a gtx 970 strix for years with zero problems
Except the downgrade once the 1080 to released. Don't pretend it didn't happen, it did. I saw it happen as I gave my 970 to my brother.
Jay, the power led button is NOT something you can change in software. I have a strix 1080 and even when your computer I'd TURNED OFF the two white light above the power connectors are constantly on which forces me to switch off my power supply nightly. Does the 2080 have these lights and are they turned off by pressing the button on the card?
I freaking loooove your videos. I can't wait to see where this channel goes!
Im glad you answered the question I was going to ask. I wanted to know what the fans sounded like because the ring around the edge in theory is supposed to help with blade tip vibrations thus making it quieter.
"Regular guys"
>GPU as expensive as a junkyard car
My '88 Tercel only gets 52 FPS in CS:GO
Has $20,000 worth of GPUs on his shelf ;D
@4c1dr3fl3x Add flames and RGB LEDs to it, you'll get at least 500FPS then!!
How many frames do you think a giant spoiler will add due to all that downforce?
I make 12$ an hour and can afford the card. It isnt that hard to save a few dollars a week over the course of TWO YEARS.
Brilliant card, I’ve clocked mine to 1815mhz and 14800 on the memory and it will run this all day and not go above 64degC
An awesome card
If I add 60mhz to my core clock it crashes.
@@CptnDooku every card has a different limit.
You have coil whine though??? Mine screams
That video test reminds me of a castle I explored while on Vacation in Dunagal Republic of Ireland.
No EXT fan headers 😯
They are such a good idea, I have them running on my strix 1080ti, it really helps with case internal temps.
ROG Strix the best looking cards, period.
fe?
Founders look better, Strix preform better and run much cooler. Plus they are quiet.
ROG Strix looks like a gong show. Though I'd love one
Gaming X Trio looks better for my taste, I got Zotac amp though...
Any rtx 2080 ti is the best looking for me, if i could get them that is
3:56 two 8-pins and a 6-pin? Man, that must be a power hungry card!
Dude your channel is awesome I like your honest opinion and your sense of humor
Hello Jay,
If you were to watercooling any of the 2080ti card, which one will you choose ?
Thanks.
Joe.
This GPU is only a dream for me ... Still i watch all videos about it
Any 10 series gpu is a dream for me hehe salu2
Maybe yall should go to work and start saving so it wouldnt be just a dream
Mabye where 12-14 and to Young to get a job
@@dysonlewis6990 i am 13 and last summer i worked for 2 weeks and got like 400
Maybe we dont live in a fantasy country and here the gpus cost four times more, more expensive than a car maybe? For example, Idiots...
Could you do a 2080 with a true two slot design and compare it to Nvidia's design in terms of cooling efficiency for our SFF fans?
Hi, Jay. Thanks for the video. The overclocking numbers you posted on your video (+155/+ 900) were stable or kept crashing the system? Thanks!
Hi Jay, great review as always mate!
Any chances to review the Inno3D 2080 Ti Chill (liquid cooled)?
Back in the day I had a GeForce 7600 with a core clock of 450mhz that went up to 600mhz, in comparison getting 155 extra mhz on a ghz+ core is negligible and shows how close to the limit chips are run at these days, and that GPU overclocking is now mostly pointless as the manufacturers are effectively doing it for us at the binning stage. The "choppiness" on the fans is called a "Beat", and an unfortunate design flaw caused by the fans running at nearly, but not quite, the same speed; simply differing the fans RPMs by eg 100 would've been an easy solution to that problem, I wonder how many, if any, makers of multi-fan products have addressed this issue. That's something that should really be mentioned more in PC building as I've seen, or rather literally heard, it crop up in many cases (punintended), especially with identical fixed-speed fans, where adding a speed control or simply a resistor to one of'em'd fix a problem that's subconsciously nagging at many people; the fact that it's subconscious for most is presumably the reason it's not consciously addressed much.
Just picked one of these bad boys up on prime day dealfor $1153, plus 6%cash back. Score! Can't wait to put it in and fire it up
Edit: JAY there are two ext fan headers on the end of the card. First thing i checked for when unpacking
Same here man... 👋
I have this exact card and the fans might've been updated. They are a nice whoosh sound at %100 and consistent in RPM.
The other thing I want to note is I can get 2115MHz on the core with the GPU at 55C (fan speed set to 65% manually and open air case) but my memory will only do +600. I tried +750 and it *sparkled* and would artifact in Time Spy Extreme. With all that said, my GPU score is right around 7550 as well.
Excellent card!
Very good video jay thanks for posting this
Brian from Tech Yes City's card goes up to 2115...golden sample? :)
Don't mix "golden sample" with "lottery winner". If this was a "golden sample" situation, you'd think that a channel with 1.6 million subs would get it and not the 300k one.
Brian is just cheating, he cant control himself :D
"That's what she said"- JZ2C.... LoL
3:44 cool^^
did you make that because of my suggestion of making your words into JayZ-Dictionary?
i like it ;)
We need an updated version of this Jay.. please

own intel graphics shit card xd
I have gt 1030😐
9600gt
Ain’t got nothing on my Intel integrated graphics 2500 lol I think it’s 2500
Intel HD 2080ti
Lol, I have an AMD phenom II laptop with integrated graphics, rtx has nothing on me
Intel HD 2080 SLI
2500 is bigger than 2080 so it is clearly better.
T D shit i knew it. gonna upgrade in 5 years then
Jay, I think I hit the 'Silicon Lottery' with my 1050 Ti FTW. I know it's a weak card, but I am hitting 1987 on my core and 4104 on my memory. Maintaining 55 to 60 C. I'm very impressed with this card.
Really clever VPN analogy about sending packages in clear boxes :) well done Jay
“Us regular guys” probably spent at least 100k on computer parts
And that's just for the HTPC
wow that is only my firewall costs
In inr or usd
why is there no higher power limit possible?
It WILL fry a GPU.
Just picked this up yesterday! Can't believe I spend this much on a graphics card! 4k gaming on my 75" HDR screen is soooo immersive though!
I just have a question. How much screen delay do u get? 250ms? That 75 inch aint nothing to joke about in size
On my 1080ti I overclocked it to +150 and some stuff and tested it with heaven benchmark - it all worked fine. Tried to test it on TimeSpy nad it crashed on the second test. I step by step put it down until I was back to stock speeds and It still crashed. I thought I bricked my card but I put It back up to 150 and it works since then without crashing anything but 3DMark.
Everytime you upload a video I think that it was a fail because your RUclips profile is a face-palm.
Exactly my thought
hope the 1080 drops in price^^ but i guess it wont
@@awpgaming7505 Of course it freaking is
gimme, i wanna have =P
Will ..... Eventually
I bought my 1080 for $300 on ebay
@@blunediv6209 was it used for mining???
The external fan thing is a really cool idea. It'd totally be the key selling point if I had the kind of money for fa 2080Ti.
Jay, i got the same 2080Ti recently and it has those fan and RGB connectors that are missing on your PCB.
Noob question: so this card requires 2 8pin cables to funtion?
Yes
honestly i just want to play some OG minesweeper with the windows OS that was contained on a floppy disc
Then just do it then. No ones stopping you
@@rolan5948It's hard to build a pc that can run minesweeper.. The price you'd pay for something like that would be insanely high. Even if you're on a high budget you have to get the best of the best items at the top tier brand names on the market.
AldaXVII your sense of humour is seriously outdated
Hey Jay, out of curiosity, do you know what RPM the fans would be spinning at towards those higher percentile curves? I ask this because Steve at GN covered in his original 1080 Ti comparison videos ages ago that the Strix ones end up being louder (compared to EVGA etc) because ASUS have those fans rated to spin at higher RPM’s, but generally speaking they never need to go that high. Just wondering if you know or what your thoughts are on this. Great video as always!
Hey jay love yuh vids man i hope to see u test the zotac 2080 ti amp
strix cards have always been sexy :D
founders cards look sexier, but rog has better performance and better cooling, i have a gtx 1080 founders and look at it in real life, your gonna cry with happiness when the sparkly bits of the 1080 hits the sunlight
oooh man the geforce RTX writing on the side doesnt light up ooooooooooooooooof
Waterblock installation video next thank you papa jay
So i've had this card for a few months. (About 4) and i recently noticed that when it reaches 70 Degrees it completely ignores any fan curve settings and speeds up to 100% and stays there until temp goes under 70 which means playing games that are even slightly demanding ramps the temp up to 70 and fans go fucking crazy.
This happened in games like ARK and Destiny 2. And in D2 i even lowered alot of settings but temps would not go down and fans kept going at it. Granted im on a 1440p 165hz monitor from a 1080p 60hz but the problem is the fact that the card ignores the fan curve i've set for it at 70 and it just goes full speed.
I've also noticed a strange almost rattling noise coming from it for a second as its speeding up. I think it's happens at around 60-65% fan speed and then it just makes an uneven whirring sound at 100%. I might have a faulty one but it's just something to keep in mind if you're buying this card, it might have some proper issues.
I wish I had the money for like a million 2080 ti's xD
If you did you could get me one.
I ran 8 cards in SLI, because I’m a ultra regular guy man.
I have 64 Rtx Quadro 8000
Love seeing skunk works in the background
i just bought this awesome card for 474 us after a black friday deal and im pumped to get it
I wanna see what they can do on water
Nothing more considering he's hitting the power limit
Gamer nexus already did a water mod on one.
Probably sink
i mean. im a regular guy and im buying 2. idk maybe i just budget better.
5:42 I'm currently using one of that and I cared it so much and you're just like smashing it just to fit rofl. Well, I'm just here to ask if I could mount another piece of it on my helios case? Thanks.
Jay I enjoy your stuff. When I buy a GPU I think it really comes down to support for me and find me a cooler that matches my build. I think it would be really awesome if you did a video about the support from these Custom aib Companies and their RMA process.
Does NordVPN require a lengthy ad at the beginning?
Yes, Louis Rossmann made a video about their ridiculous stipulations.
He is being paid to say it, so yes
0:18 Idk what you mean by "regular guys" but most people wont buy the 2080 ti
XodaCan I am😂😂😂
I have the 1080ti version of this card.
Honestly thinking of selling it for one of these.
Really like your videos total Noob at PC games. You inspired me to start building a gaming PC.
I'll probably just get another Strix 1080ti OC for $500 less. cause the prices of the 2080ti aren't even worth it.
right couldnt agree with you more
i would just recommend holding off sli is horrid and in a lot of cases a waste might as well just wait if you are fine with the performance you are getting sli is such a hassle
Josh Oyen eBay
The same Asus OC edition 1080 Ti I bought is the exact same price i bought it for on release. I've only seen the Zotac cards actually drop in price.
Kyle Gruber yeah cheapest Asus I’ve seen is 650
ROG Strix Or Gaming X Trio?
I would get the Duke if i were you, because it's cheaper than both of these (atleast in my country), and it's still really good.
Gaming X Trio pre ordered, I wonder if that extra 6pin really does that much though...
@@SweViver I wanna get the rtx 2080 MSI trio.. But its not available..
Most likely not i think, unless you're gonna do a power mod.
You're gonna run into the same current limit as all the other cards.
@@GUBBIn1LL3R yeah most likely :(
Nawras 2, these Trio cards seems to be delayed also for some reason...
Jay, my name is also Jay. just wanted to throw that out there. But your comment on the shipping.... My Rog StriX 2080Ti was delivered on my porch, in the rain....in its OEM box from Amazon lol....I should have taken a picture of it, thankfully I was home to rush downstairs and grab it. I was kind of blown away that they sent me a spade drill bit in a full tower computer case sized box with aaaa $15 part in it but a $1400 GPU sits there in the OEM lime green and black box with Huge lettering on it....
What program are you using to measure the temps and clock speeds? I’ve never seen it before
Sup Jay.
Forget the 2080ti whens the 2070ti information at $500 its the only one that might be worth getting
When the 2080 = 1080 Ti maybe the 2070 ti = 1080 haha
There won't be a 2070ti. The 1070ti was basically built for miners because GDDR5x wasn't as good for mining as just plain GDDR5 so the 1070 was being targeted by miners as their best option so they made a better 1070.
TL:DR don't hold your breath
When I got onto Amazon I saw an option to choose the GPU clock speed. Are the highest clocked ones just overclocked or is it silicon lottery?
Certainly the cards on board RGB switch is only there for those who may not have a window on their case ... so it is very practical and they will not be changing it unless they move to another case. For the other majority, they will use the RGB lighting, will download the software and enjoy the view in their windowed case.
Quad 2080ti NVLINK?
AutomaticSlap
I want that nvlink.
I want all the VRAM.
Nope, only 2... Nvidia blocks 3 way and 4 way now.
Yeah but on Linus’s most recent video he gets 4way Quadro V100 going but those GPUs aren’t for gaming
Linus does not get 4 way nvlink, he gets sli over the connectors.
IndieMarkus Technically it was a synced tiled display not SLI. SLI would be all four GPU's working on one image not 4 tiles.
200 euros more than the MSI or Gigabyte. No thanks.
That's for a reason bro
ROG stuff is just for the brand and oc potential. but again, wainting for the EVGA 2060 SC
@@fleefie often asus overclocks worse than evga, zotac and co.... so u pay only for the look
wait what, MSI prices their Gaming X Trio $100 higher than the ROG one and Gigabyte is well... Gigabyte
wow has time changed...I remember when you were being recommended off another channel I think it was boogie 2988's(I know a 100% it was someone who play games here on youtube),but omg how this channel has grown and it's nice to see you doing well...I haven't logged into youtube in a while and I remember when you for sure were reading all the comments and you weren't really a channel specifically for me. TLDR keep doing well and keep up your good work.
My Led on this card went from static green to glowing red all the time. (just as it looks in this video) Is this indicating an error / malfunction ? Power, temp and performance are okay !
The design is unchanged for 2yrs bummer 🙁
Which is what a lot of us prefer. An all black card with no ridiculous colour schemes on it.
I know, really disappointing that a new gen doesn't get something new visually
Why ruin it for no reason?
What would you change?
@@voxelfusion9894 just something new. For such a big step in a new direction it is a new and different thing entirely almost. When car manufacturers release a new model, or a completely new thing, they don't just use the design they've been churning out since the '80s. I did love the strix design but...come on if this Turing lasts as long as Pascal we'll be talking about the same design for 5 years. It makes me wonder how much this is actually just a stopgap card like people have been suggesting. Think the real thing is coming next year with 7nm so this is more like a staggered release. I is an iconic design, but surely could have tweaked it for a strix 2.0 look.
Am I the only one who thinks Jay looks like a porcupine?
Shhhh. He was keeping his species a secret.
@@petenielsen6683 good, I thought it was just me.
When you raise the voltage, you have to adjust the boost curve for every single voltage step.
Nice video sir Jay! Hoping to have that graphics card
First
It's my first first. Haven't even watched the damn video. I feel so superior right now... Even though no one cares. In the end, I'm just some guy commenting on the internet because he saw a video come out. Then I commented "first" before anyone else. Think about that? Doesn't it make you feel shallow? It does do that to me...
No your second
theres still Moffinz
No first
LET ME HAVE THIS
sry mate ;) maybe next time
And I literally just bought an Asus Strix 1080 a week ago 🙄
i would still buy a 1080 over a 2080, RTX is a flop
Hykz but dlss is not dummy
@@yskuzi not worth it being more expensive than even a gtx 1080 ti
Hykz i agree, except I bought it for $579 after taxes and shipping. I might see if I can send it back and wait for Black Friday sales or something which I completely forget about lol
Shiro idk man if i am blowing money on 1080 ti then a 2080 is the same price and i got hold of a custom pcb they will be out around next month for 100$ cheaper
What do think about "saving" power with liquid cooling instead of the fans on the card since the power draw is the main issue when overclocking?
Do you think we'll see custom PCB cards with more than 2 8-pins for power? It would be interesting to see just how much improvement there could be with another 6-pin or something.
just buy a used 1080ti strix for 550
No
No thank u. Maybe 300
I don't know about these guys, but that's what I did
Once you get the FTW card from EVGA it'd be great to see that, the Strix, and the MSI side by side (to get a sense of size, build quality, etc) - and to have a temp/noise/feature comparison.
Which runs cooler msi trio or this
I bought the Asus 1080 Strix when it first came out and I've loved it. Wasn't cheap by any means but worth it. Great card.
If you lower the room ambient temperature to 60 - 65, does it improve performance or reduce fan noise ?
Results may vary. At least its not "some assembly required, batteries not included"...
Fans sound like Jay's car when floored... and that sounds beautiful...
Love the red light on black.
Card I want to see, if it ever gets released is either the Colorful Geforce RTX 2080Ti KUDAN or the Gigabyte Geforce RTX 2080Ti Xtreme (air version or AIO version).
Can you please look at the Asus Dual OC version of RTX2080Ti? Couldn't find any pre orders on the Strix version and also i might had clearance issues with the 3 fan design shroud protruding from the PCB.
More importantly i wonder if its PCB is like the Nvidia version. I would like to put on it en EK Water block soon enough.
Thanks
So power delivery still a problem? Personally id wait for a hybrid for a card like this.
Nice vid, Jayz. Can you also do a frame rate test with Ray Tracing switched on? In 1080p to 4k
So it may be a stupid question, but what should I set my GPU Boost Clock to? I currently have it in the in the OC Tweak 2 with the fans at 90, Mem Clock at 15800, power target all the way up at 125 but now I'm not sure if I should touch anything with the GPU Boost Clock or if i'm fine leaving it at the 1650?
Jayz did you have trouble getting this card to click into the pcie slot? I got it to click into place but it was very reluctant to do so compared to the other cards that I’ve installed
I've ran all my amd cards fans on 100% for the past 10 years and they all sounded like that. Fans working fine in my opinion and I've never had a problem with any cards or other components. I use an air compressor to blow out every spec of dust every couple months or so to keep her fresh as I live with my sheltie border collie mix lol.
May I ask, what do you think about ASUS STRIX ROG 2080ti vs MSI 2080ti x Trio ?
Thank you for this review. I am receiving my 2 GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 2080 Ti WINDFORCE OC today. I think it is a decent 2 slot card. Would love to see such a NVLink setup in your hands for a review. Keep up the great work!
I do your last setting but after applying all apps stop when i open can you tell me why?
my pc is super week but i still love these vids
will a dual 8pin with 19 power phases overclock better then the msi trio 2 8pin and 1 6pin but only 17 power phases.
Hey Jay, do you think you could get your hands on an inno3d iChill 2080ti black (rev. A)?
the cooling solution is quite beefy, they usually have overkill power with this series, and rev. A is supposed to be binned chips only.
Is this the 'OC' addition of this card? What is the software used to overclock with?
i would really like to see you do a video showing how to do a shunt mod on this card as well as the add overclocking afforded due to higher power limit
