HMMWV Doors for $3,000?!?! Aftermarket X-Doors DIY Painting!

*Please note for painting, you want the fan set up as an exhaust fan, DRAWING air out and not PUSHING it. Negative pressure will draw the overspray to and through the fan. I had no idea what I was doing here and only later found out. That's what projects are for after all.*
Hey guys, for this video I took a chance and got these nice doors from West Kentucky Surplus. Get them directly for $3,600 (PayPal f/f or cash).

They took New stock HMMWV X-doors and created molds using them. The results are absolutely impressive. OEM hardware included, everything. Strikers, limiters, hinges, glass, ext. All other aftermarket X-doors are poor in quality and some use RV windows. This is a great deal especially with normal X-door sets going for $4,500+ and they mostly need many many hours of disassembly, sanding, and body work before paint.

Were did you get your paint? I'm looking for olive drab.
That is were I got my doors from as well as their brush guard which came UPS. I'm mounting mine first so that when I paint them don't scratch them putting them back on.
I happen to have a turbine paint system which use between 5 to 9 psi, which means that I'll have to thin a little more.

You should have used a Red Scothc-brite to sand the doors better. I 100% would not paint them as you showed them. There is too many shiney spots shown and the paint can lift in poorly prepared fiberglass. Also a Bully Dog adhesion promoter is a good idea. Been painting 36 years now.

How did you install the hinges? I bought a set, but noticed the hinge holes are not drilled/marked. Is there a template? Or did I miss the instructions on how to do it somewhere?
