HMMWV Doors for $3,000?!?! Aftermarket X-Doors DIY Painting!

Please note for painting, you want the fan set up as an exhaust fan, DRAWING air out and not PUSHING it. Negative pressure will draw the overspray to and through the fan. I had no idea what I was doing here and only later found out. That's what projects are for after all. Hey guys, for this video I took a chance and got these nice doors from West Kentucky Surplus. Get them directly for $3,600 (...

Part 1 of this project. Lots to come.
I stumbled across part 1, so naturally I had to watch all of them. Nice work, that’s a clean Humvee. Curious why you call yourself Hummerkid instead of Humveekid.
Atomization, mainly on the hood, same exact issue I ran in to yesterday. Wet sanding and redoing the hood today. The rest is pretty good. Great video, Thank you for taking time to post this!
If you succeed to remove center bump for luxury seats then it would be best suv in the world.
Worst vehicle in the world for seating best in look only, company made G- weagonō
The doors are $4000 now :(
and in 6 months 5000
wish i had the money for a H1 6.5 turbo, does it make a lot of difference with the normal 6.5 btw? in performance meaning
That's not a Hummer kid.
HummerKid, where did you buy those rattle cans from? I may order from them instead of ebay vendor
Were you always satisfied with your fiberglass doors or would you use the aluminum ones instead?
Great videos! Thank you for sharing. Can you share Steve’s contact information?
Super cool series.
How much you charged to paint this?? Got a customer that wants new to paint one
where is Steve's shop in south florida located, contact info for Steve?
How are the doors holding up?? I'm planning on getting a set for my 1151a1
What did you use to cover the holes where the armor used to be
That mouth smacking drives me crazy.
Nice looks a lot like mine
Great truck are those light 24 or 12 volt?
Looks very nice, what are you doing with the turret cover, for sale?
Where did you get the paint? and how much paint you used it ?
Looks like Gillespie Coatings, Inc in Longview Tx. I looked up their color charts. 686 Tan isn’t on their main charts but I plan on calling them and having them mix to that color code and send to me.
Lol that will buff!! Nice 👍
Looks nice
Your hummer and humvee and very nice, i got Humvee 1165 and I need rear glass can you tell me where you got it ?
Very nice!!! I have a1165 too…. I have a lot of things missing but it’s a slow progress….. I have a question about yours could we talk sometime? Please
Love it! Looks so nice and clean
Good job. By the way, where can I get the turret?
Now $4k.
🍻🇺🇸
Wondering where you found the replacement LED lights for the vehicle?
Do they come with the rubber trim around the edges? Looks great!! Thanks!!
Did u get it done paint job.
Love all of your attention to detail. FANTASTIC WORK! We seem to share a lot of the same OCD 🙂
Did u give up you were getting good
Когда меня сделают машиной?или роботом?Deus Ex Machina
You should have used a Red Scothc-brite to sand the doors better. I 100% would not paint them as you showed them. There is too many shiney spots shown and the paint can lift in poorly prepared fiberglass. Also a Bully Dog adhesion promoter is a good idea. Been painting 36 years now.
Is the project still going?
Project has been completed :)
@@ThatHummerKid Are we ever going to see an update?
Any idea if that middle area, where logically a window might go, actually comes off easily? I am getting a top and rear, hoping I can relatively easily add a window in that spot.
Yes, I did it on this project when I had it. Just unbolts.
@@ThatHummerKid did you ever convert it to a window? If so, do you have a part number?
@@StevenPenny I just used an H-Seal and plexiglass as recommended by BDC
If you ever consider selling it I’d be interested.
This sold in early 2022 for $78,000
@@ThatHummerKid🤔
Can you tell me if you don’t mind how much you spent from start to finish?
My cost on this project IIRC was around $44,000
awesome video, i'm fixing to take on a similar project. did you sand down that original CARC? if so with what grit to scuff
Yes, I always leave the CARC on just sanded. Its a protective coating. I sand down to 400 grit
What are the rules where you live about driving and licensing these for road use
varies state to state. This one had normal title and on road normal registration and insurance.
@@ThatHummerKid OK thanks a lot do you build these to resell them or do you just build them for yourself
@@redstingraycorvette I build and resell HMMWV's and Hummer H1's
Great jobb really
more info on the turret would be great!
Super Humvee Projekt !
What “reconditioning stuff” did you use on the plastic interior pieces?
Seat Doctors laser color matched the three interior colors for me and produced a dye for each color based on parts I sent in.
Looks great. That’s a lot of good work. You can actually soak those tailgate chains in rust remover and paint them. Then use a bike inner tube cut to length for chain covers. A lot of work so you may be right with just replacing them for $37.
Good to know!
F America I'm moving to Russia 🪆💯
I have the same doors with same problem. I've started changing all the hardware too.
Greeeeeen!
Great job not to add work but don’t forget to remove the rocker panel protection and have them paint separately (it’s 12 bolts total).
