- FIRST DRIVE: The CX-90 is finally here and Mazda is reading to take on the Kia Telluride, Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Chevrolet Traverse, Subaru Ascent and Ford Expedition. Under the hood is a 3.3L turbocharged inline-6 that produces 360HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the outside you will find bold styling, new lighting and 21in wheels. On the inside you will be greeted by a full leather interior, (2) 12.3in screens, and panoramic sunroof. Is the 2024 Mazda CX-90 Turbo a new luxury sport SUV worth the PRICE?

This is expensive for a MAZDA, but I have to say you still get a lot for the money. They aren’t throwing up the price tag for nothing, you are getting what you pay for and I love it! Thanks Joe and Lori!
It is a lot of money. But you get luxury, a great engine, great power, great handling, and great tech.
If you option a Mercedes GLE t the same spec it’s over $80k.
If you want a cheap mazda get mazda 2 buddy

@@TheGillederais why so condescending? this is definitely expensive compared to what mazdas typical market is looking for. mazda was known to be a cheap brand with their highest priced car being the signature cx9 at less than 50k.
40-60k in this market and class of car is 10-15k cheaper than the competition even fully loaded😅

I agree, but I don't think it will sell as much as the KIA Telluride and the Hyundai Palisade due to its steep price. I am pretty sure that even the Toyota Highlander and Ford Explorer will sell more on this economy.
@@aramis8231the telluride is more expensive, and dealers are charging s lot of extras for that vehicle, i quoted a telluride in December and was around 63k

This is the 6th video of the cx-90 I've seen. No one mentions they have folding side mirrors and a spare tire.! Very important! I actually got to see one in person today and verified that.

As far as the CX90, Mazda really hit it out of the park (except for the price) and this along with the new Pathfinder, Highlander, and Pilot are going to finally put an end to the Korean cousins craze.
Hi folks, I drove '24 Telluride, then did the same with the CX-90. The Mazda blew Kia away. Its a true drivers SUV. Leased the 90 in Artisan Red. Stunnibg vehicle.

It's definitely a nice ride for those needing a nice sport/lux SUV! I would love to see an RWD-based Mazda 6 AWD with that powerplant and that level of luxury for in the low-mid $40Ks. I think this directly competes with the Acura MDX given how much Mazda raised its game. Great camera work, Lori! I'd love to take that same trip you all drove crossing the Golden Gates someday!

feel like im gonna see a lot of this car in the roads soon. as a mazda owner, i know that the driving of this car is very tasteful, and i havent even drove this.
Took a long trip on my cx5 ,4 hours and the family was comfy no complaints and the chassis super control ,feels like a plane.
Love the wheel well body color trim. Love the wheels, gives the impression of 'floating". Not a fan of the rear. Love the front styling & grill. Like the cabin finish, the inline 6, the MPG, the 2nd row captain's chairs & console. Great review!

If I needed a 3 row this would be it. My lease ends next spring and hopefully the CX70 will be out by then. Maybe Mazda can offer a sport edition with this engine on CX70 with some nice exhaust tips and sportier seats that hug you more ?

Purchased my cx-5 last October. Man, the CX-90 just looks like the next level. IMO, this looks way better than the current CX-9.

It great that Mazda didn’t go small with their engine like other companies. Which are going turbo four instead Mazda want turbo inline 6 like bmw and it has to outputs low and high. Sweet and rear wheel drive. So to me they going after the bmw and Audi. Sweet

Worth the price, not sure that’s why I’d be curious for a Rati’s review of a lower end model with the detuned Inline 6. Hopefully we’ll get that sooner than later. I just drove a 2021 Mazda Cx-5 my buddy and I rented and it was amazing! This car looks awesome as well. Mazda is killin' it! Glad to see you in the bay area, been a fan for a long time and i'm born in San Jose, Ca living in Monterey, Ca. If you get a chance stop by Mcclaren in palo alto it's a cool dealership! 👍

Wowee Mazda (finally) has produced an hybrid and EV in 2023 for their North American consumers. Toyota and Honda been giving their North American consumers hybrid/EVs for years, thats why Mazda will always be 4th best Japanese automakers, slow innovative car brand..........

Joe, this Mazda CX90 is the Luxury SUV's Disciple I believe it'll compete with the Apostles to the premium SUV's & I'm digging the fake fender vents it kinda think it pop rather than a boring sheet of metal.

Joe, the plastic covering over the engine, has two latches on each side, that you can lift up to see the engine.
This is a gorgeous car and I love the direction Mazda is going. But I don't recall hearing you mention Android Auto. Is this not available?

Man, you brought me so many smiles. I am a Mazda fan and was wondering if Mazda still was bringing that fun driving dynamic to their upscale model. Well, just the expression on your face told it all. Its the same one I got when driving my CX5... Now I now that I can go for the CX-90 and not lose that component. Also, it looked. like you were having so much fun! So much fun! Thank you!
I love my 2020 CX-5 GTR however I would have NO problem owning this car. It is a real engineering marvel. Classy, sophisticated, and I expect to have initial quality ratings that are unbeatable.
What a great reviewer are you, I have the 2016 CX9 what is the previous model yet
I have a few questions
1.- Does active Drive display shows current fuel economy?
2.- Does the center consol have the same passenger seats colapse level?
3.- While driving does the drive selector need one or two taps to enter sport mode?
4.- Does the buttom hamstrings seat portion can be regulable ?
5.- does a fog light can be adapted?

Right?! My first car was candy apple red, and I've been over any of the reds ever since. This is the first shade of red where I might just choose it, depending on the other options. It is stunning! I absolutely love the interior, too. That camel or dark tan or whatever you want to call it screams classic luxury in my book. I do love the look of all the light and white interiors coming out these days, but that dark tan/camel color is way more practical and my all time favorite interior color, especially when paired with black.
I think Mazda really stepped up with this one. Absolutely love the color Joe 😍, and the digital dash too. The two tone interior really works in my opinion. By the way I've been meaning to ask, will u guys reschedule the Love Q amd A this month?

I just bought a ‘23 Mazda3 Hatch. I am LOVING what Mazda is doing right now. If you’ve never shopped Mazda, or you have in the past and passed then you need to go to a showroom and poke around.

Greetings from El Salvador, Central America, guys... after 3 different Mazdas in our family, two of them still in our garage, no surprise here with this CX-90; although Joe, you must tell Mazda they have to build a special trailer/mobile home for this SUV WITH ITS OWN MULTILINK SUSPENSION and braking system too, to be able to keep up in those curvy roads while dashing away 😜 Otherwise, things could get messy in those speeds or worst, would have to travel a snail speed... and I just suscribed with you both, something I almost never never do.
When using Apple Carplay/Android Auto, are you required to use the touch screen, or can you also use the interface dial? It looks to be quite a reach. Also, did you check if the front side windows are acoustic glass (double pane) or single pane?
The CX-90 is available with either a 3.3 Turbo or 3.3. High Output Turbo. Both engine options are straight-six turbo.
I can see the exhaust, out from somewhere under the vehicle .Sort of like my 88 yj with a hole in the muffler. It looks exactly the same

The Artisan Red is my favorite other than Soul Red. The CX-90 is the business inside and out definitely worth the price. Some dark chrome would go a long way with this particular color!

The Mazda CX-90 is the first to have an 8 speed automatic transmission and also an inline 6 and also PHEV plug because no other Mazda cars and SUV's like the Mazda CX-9 that had a 6 speed automatic transmission 2 gears down. Yeah Joe, this is such a nice SUV to drive the Mazda CX-90.
