If this had analog triggers it would be a sick portable Dreamcast! A vertical handheld with analog triggers might not work well though.. Hmmm 🤔 Check out all the sweet handhelds available at GoGameGeek.com You can help me out with just a couple clicks: (Affiliate Link) shrsl.com/4ogrn
I highly recommend turning off the overlays (in the APPS section) and turning on integer scaling in RetroArch (you have to save configs for each system core). The screen has enough room to do this without the text in-game being too small. I highly recommend at least trying it as many games look and read much better this way.
Right on. I'm looking forward to those sweet dome switches. I really like them. TrimUI's build quality is great, too. I agree it's worth holding out for.
Joey over at Joey's Retro Handhelds was moderately miffed in his review when he got to the D-pad. He was like, "It's a good D-pad, but it's just the normal Anbernic D-pad! Why is every other reviewer shilling so hard‽" I guess I can add Nick to what is a very short list; "Reviewers Who Didn't Overhype the 40V's D-pad". A truncated list, to be sure, but an honorable one.
Appreciate the suggestion 💡 I’m using a Galaxy S23U currently and not sure if they make filters for phone camera lenses but I’ll look into it. I’m going to try using softboxes to soften and minimize the light that hits the ceiling too, but it seems to still bounce right off the table. 💡 Thanks for checking out the video!
@@OGTechNick yeah...or cheapest solution - slight angle change. If still looking into it, universal clip-on lens versions might be available, also just a polarized sheet with a rubber band, they help a little.
There are a few available custom firmwares for this chipset but I don’t have much experience with them. I think Koriki for the H700 chip is something like Batocera, and works well. Then there’s MuOS, which people seem to love for the SP… I think? I’ve been kinda out of the loop on Garlic and the other cfw that’s out there. It’s been a crazy few weeks. I have to start doing my homework again. I’ll ask GoGameGeek if they’ll be offering any of them for anybody who doesn’t want to deal with flashing them themselves.
@@OGTechNick Yeah, a lot of learning to do on my end. The handheld scene evolves so fast, personally it can be a little difficult keeping up with all the hardware and OS updates. Many little issues that can be tedious or make it fun for those that like to tinker. Nick, thanks for always taking the time, man...

I’ll definitely do that. Appreciate the advice!
I just got the extra funds to order one of these. But then trimui announced the brick

I’ve heard it has a standard Anbernic dpad (which is good), it just got a lot of attention because reviewers needed a talking point!
Haha. That sounds about right to me!

@mattdavis9601 haha nice! Joey’s a real one. That’s a list I’m happy to be on.
Shame you didn’t have a rg arc s model to compare I love to know if it’s the same spec screen as the sega rg arc s
Not sure but maybe a polarized lens filter might help with reflection

Will the custom firmware be available as a choice for end users?
