Yes. It’s true. The cards that come with these devices are low quality and will eventually become corrupted. There are a lot of tutorials online about flashing ArkOS to a SD card and adding your own roms, so if your card dies before you make a copy you can still get your device working again. The firmware the R36S uses is very stable and is used in a lot of other devices.

As long as it’s not directly underneath the dpad 👍

I don’t have a strong opinion about RGB as long as there is an option to turn them off, but if they’re constantly on it’s a dealbreaker.

Yeah man. Both colors look great. I'm really not sure which one I'd like better but if they look like they do in the renders I'll be happy with either one.

I completely understand. I dont mind the TrimUI logo on the dpad, but I could see how it could get uncomfortable after longer play sessions. The device is definitely small and wouldn't be my first choice, but I do really like it.

Yeah. That’s another system that works really well here, and there are so many DS games that don’t utilize the touch screen in any way that matters. Often the dpad and buttons are all you really need. I don’t recommend the first Cube for 3DS, and I think that’s just my personal preference, but to consider the XX for DS games.. Definitely.

True, but for this chipset 1:1 is a great compromise. It works great for portable systems like GameBoy, GameBoy Color, NeoGeo Pocket… Perfect for Pico-8.. Also NES and SNES at 8:7. I don’t mind the overlays for Genesis, PS1, Atari, etc. I actually like them, but I know some people don’t want bezels and overlays.

@ the bezel thing makes me laugh. Like it matters if you can or can't see a border when the whole device is a border

Yes. It uses the RK3566 chip. It’s more capable than the RK3326 chip in the R36S. Can you recommend any Amiga games to try out? It’ll be a first for me.

They’re not harder. The button press is much softer/lighter. Less resistance. Less fatigue. The buttons and d-pad feel significantly better, especially for longer play times.

I can’t find the slide-in “grip cases” in stock anymore, but Boxin House Store on AliExpress makes the nicest 3D printed grips I’ve seen. The ergonomics are pretty much identical to the one I’m using in this video. Here’s a link for the RG35XSP: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mr2Jgh2

You’d have to get the first RG Cube (Non XX) for it to be able to run 3DS. If you do, it works out pretty well, but doesn’t come close to a real 3DS experience. The overlays they use look nice, but if both screens are displayed at once the “touchscreen” is pretty small. PS1 will play fine on here, but this comment made me realize I didn’t test any PlayStation this time. I’ll give it a try later and get back to you. I’m also curious how it’ll look and play. Depending on the version you get, it's the stock os, or a second card with games. Just pick the smallest single os card and buy your own os and roms cards later. Specs say 64gb as the os card, 512gb for the roms card. There are third party os images already, depends on what you like.

@JCORR76 not in this case. Like @epsileth said, it came with the stock OS (Kioxia) and there was a second non-branded card with games inside the box. Last time GoGameGeek sent me cards with CrossMix-OS it had all of the Mario games in a special “Mario” folder. This time there weren’t any, but I added a few myself.

They should. I know two RG40XXs will work together via wi-fi. It’s the same chipset and they both have wi-fi included, so I’m like 99% sure. I haven’t tried it yet, but the manual has a small section on it. I’ll give it a try this week and get back to you
