This is my favorite anbernic device this year. The new green and new red color options look really nice. I have a blue one with a dbz sticker under the front plastic
Nice. I’d like to see how that looks. My fav too. I have a clear one coming from MechDIY, and I’m planning on adding artwork to it. I think the transparent ones look better with some kind of art on the lid. They seem a bit plain without anything. The solid colors look fine the way they are though. Any suggestions for the 3 new colors? I’ll end up having all 3 because I ordered the green from Ampown as well. I was thinking of trying to use images of the section with the dpad and buttons, attempting to give the lid a semi-see through look, to look like there isn’t a screen blocking it the controls.
I've come to the point where if I'm buying cases and grips then I'm just going to buy a more expensive console. It's the reason I haven't swapped the shoulder buttons on my miyoo mini plus, $12 or so for buttons? Might as well have gotten a system for $50 instead lol
It’s so true. I just bought the stacked shoulder buttons for the 35XXH and I have the 40XXH. Kinda unnecessary, but I get intrigued. I need a legit 3D printer if I’m going to keep doing this. Definitely not the best route to go and usually the grips aren’t that comfortable. These ones are very comfortable though, and the 2-in-1 protective cases got me. I don’t know why I have so much fun making cheap consoles uglier and more comfortable. lol
@@OGTechNick I get wanting the comfort, did it for the switch and eventually got the hori split pad pro controllers. Ya a 3D printer long run would help you out. I keep thinking about getting one but using it a few times a year isn't worth it lol
For real. It’s one of my favorite Anbernic handhelds. Definitely my top choice in their line of the H700 “XX” models. I love a good clamshell, too. I’m going to try to be gentle on the hinge, though. I’ve seen some have broken already.
Curious if there are any places to buy the grip. So I can comfortably hold the device. Plus the music at 9:55, all I can think of is Slope's Game Room. Never thought it came from a game
I can’t find the slide-in “grip cases” in stock anymore, but Boxin House Store on AliExpress makes the nicest 3D printed grips I’ve seen. The ergonomics are pretty much identical to the one I’m using in this video. Here’s a link for the RG35XSP: s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_mr2Jgh2
I've got a beautiful blue SP. Mine is the original button model; but, I've not had the issues with them that some reviewers have had. I guess I will CRUSH YOU at Thumb War! Yeah, brother! I noticed that they've moved the "Apps" section for some reason. It was near "Settings" on the old model and now it's next to "RA Game". Mine is still running the 32-bit Linux that came with it (1.0.3, I think). Is your silver model still running 32-bit as well or has it been upgraded to Anbernic's 64-bit Linux build that debuted three months or so ago? Presumably the red one is running the latest 64-bit OS out of the box, so you'll be able to do some more stuff with Portmaster on it. I'm not sure if it'll make a difference for retro games though.
The blue looks so good! I just really wanted that silver for some reason. I held off on getting blue again here so I could be sure it would be the revised model with the lighter feeling buttons. Yeah, I haven’t gotten around to updating the silver model so I think you’re right. The red one is likely the updated 64-bit stock firmware. It took me shooting and posting that thumbnail before I noticed the change in the order of the apps. Man.. If you like the feeling of OG buttons you’d demolish me in Thumb War! (I always called it “thumb wrestling” when I was younger) 😄👍
@@OGTechNick - That silver is beautiful too. I miss that 2000s "if it's high tech and not value priced then it has to be silver" aesthetic. It's a beautiful color. Really, every color is a beautiful color on these. You can't go wrong.
Those new x/y/a/b black buttons look a lot harder, though. I could imagine they will feel bad after long play times. The original grey ones look a lot softer. Are the new black buttons and D-pad harder?
They’re not harder. The button press is much softer/lighter. Less resistance. Less fatigue. The buttons and d-pad feel significantly better, especially for longer play times.
@joshblah9000 If you buy from Anbernic Official or any of the Ampown stores on AliExpress you should be getting the refresh. If they’re showing the photos of the new colors they likely have the new buttons in the original colors as well. If you buy from a seller who only shows the original colors I’d be worried that they are old stock. Still, just to be safe, it wouldn’t hurt to shoot them a message and ask. Ampown and Anbernic are pretty good at replying within 24 hours.
In your experience, have you found that transparent plastic is less durable? Looks like Anbernic is selling the new models at a slight premium on Ali. They even have a distinct listening calling them “New”.
I haven’t found them less durable, but I wouldn’t be surprised if they are. Usually transparent plastic is more brittle. I always have to be careful not to screw in anything too tight on these shells. I’ve cracked a clear RG35XX shell before. They significantly improved the button feel on these new models though.
They did as well. There are still 3rd party sellers with old stock, but Anbernic and Ampown will ship the new version in the old colors. If you buy from another seller just try to communicate with them. Ask them, and only buy from them if they reply and understand what you’re talking about.

Here to give the algorithm a little push, keep the content coming my man! 👍
Thanks man! I appreciate it! 🙏
Love the black/red combo and the silver/white combo. Thanks for the video!

From their store or a third party that says it's the refresh
