I met a few of the designers at Ford nationals in PA, and you could literally feel in the air how excited and passionate they were about it. They did such an amazing job on this car.
Hey David, I'm from South Carolina, just missed you at cars and coffee because my 2014 GT was having boss 302 heads and Cobra Jet cams installed, and we tuned it that morning. If you ever want to review a NA coyote making over 600 crank HP, and every suspension mod possible, it's all yours.
"I'm convinced you could not replicate this in the aftermarket for the price of this car" THAT. That is exactly what has been keeping the die hards on the fence about the modern muscle cars. Yes they have phenomenal performance, but when you can build something that performs almost the same in a classic body and have it be unique to you, it's just obviously the better choice. +Art Vandelay You guys shouldn't be on the road? Says who, you? The lord of the public road? lol learn how to pay attention and be considerate when driving and it's not so bad. Is there really any reason to make it any more unsafe for a cyclist?
Yeah, springtime in the California canyons means lots of big, wet bugs. The front of my car is covered in bug carcasses. I keep a bottle of spray wax and extra microfiber towels to keep the stuff off the paint.
I typically don't like naturally aspirated engines but that motor is really something special. A high revving, inspiring, and a unique exhaust pitch to match a car that Ford really cares about and put a ton of work into really drives my love for that car.
Contrary to my name I am a Mopar guy and have owned a few chevys in my past and although I am biased towards Dodge this Ford Mustang GT350R is such a respectable car anyone that is truly a car enthusiast will see that. I would really enjoy driving this car some day but since the demand is so high for them now the probability of me getting my hands on one is highly unlikely
+CamaroMatt Florida Your name is CamaroMatt you have a pic of a camaro on your profile but you are a Mopar guy who likes this gt350r... So does that mean you are in or out of the closet? But I can't disagree I do like this car too.for.well you know. a mustang.

Enjoyed spending the day at Sebring running with my pal Ramon and his new GT350. In a group including heavily modified 911 turbos, caymans, and GT3s, the Mustang keeps up and sounds great too. Great handling car and impressive that Ford built this special engine and then sorted out the handling dynamics and all the independent tweaks required to make this such a great sports car. It can compete with the best in the world, and hold its own special place as both a daily driver, and track day machine. And the new GT is coming too?!! Great job Ford engineers!
Special it is. Hands down one of the best cars you can possibly buy from a dealer. It would be hard pressed to be able to build one in the aftermarket that replicates what this car can do.
As a cyclist and an avid Colorado canyon carver, I appreciate how respectful you are to cyclists on the road. Kudos. Also, you said you want to daily one. How does the 373 ratio handle in the city?
A buddy of mine has a new 2016 Mustang GT, I had it for a week while he was on vacation.. I have to say it was such pleasure to drive and I was amazed how much power it had and the handling was phenomenal.. poised but comfortable.. I could only imagine how this 350R would be... I am no stranger to Horsepower having a 500HP 300 SRT (Have 3 kids) so I need a sedan. While I love my SRT.. the Mustang was much more engaging.. Kudos to Ford.. for not only making the Mustang Look Great and also have true performance,,, Matt you have the best job ever..
Some of my favorite remarks: "This is the Mustang we all want. Everybody wants it and I want it more than all of them." "This is the greatest car, man, it's so good". "If you're not on board with me by now, I honestly don't think you have a soul." And as of March 2021 the GT350R still is in HUGE demand.
I've driven this. You're right, this car and particularly the engine is very, very special. It's more special than the majority of cars near and exceeding its performance.
That's probably the best review of this car you can really hear and understand just how high the rpm are and you didn't look like you didn't like the seat thanks.
Got an F-Type R, rwd a couple of years back and have been really happy with it. This car was a very close second mainly due to the manual. Both have GREAT SOUND.
Love this car and I want to get it in my garage but I don't want to pay the crazy dealer markups on this. I wish when Ford advertises a car for a specific price....that it actually sells for that much.
I can honesty say the Mustang has always been the car I've dreamed of since I was a kid. To see how the car is evolved but still in touch with it's routes, makes me appreciate the car more. I am definitely going to be a very proud owner of a GT350R!
"It sounds like you're being chased by the Civil War!" One of the best quotes ever! Ford would do well to add that to its literature that goes with this car!
Oh man that Shelby 350r sounds so good. I'm not going to lie to you I'm not really feeling the new body styles but the Shelby's are slowly growing on me
this has to be my new favorite car, i love how they designed the car around the engine and put time into the engine instead of slapping a turbo or a supercharger on like most manufacturers do with their top of the line cars. This car is just special, i would take this car over a Hellcat or a z28 or a z06, or even an m3 or m4.
Lol explain, everything i said was true, the gt350r has its own engine a Hellcat or a z28 just come with a supercharged version of an engine that's pretty common, and the gt350r handles better than any one of those cars and those are Chevy and Dodge's "top of the line" muscle cars
No i haven't driven any of the cars but i didn't describe any kind of experience or anything make-up anything all i said was the facts, the gt350r has it's own engine and no other car has that same engine which makes it special and cool, the z27 and z06 and Hellcat all have engines that are pretty common but have a supercharger slapped on them, idk how many times you want me to say it?
So, Matt seems seriously and helplessly in love with this Mustang GT350/R, he can't conceal his excitement which speaks volumes. I've found Matt to be super tough in his judgement on American cars, (mostly too tough for my liking) with a bit of a bias (personal taste that is) towards german and japanese hardware as it seems. But now, seeing how Matt is enjoying and praising these Mustangs (even referencing the world beating mighty Viper ACR), they sure must be no less than absolutely phenomenal machines.
I have a 2015 1LE and I frikken love this car. In fact, before I bought my Camaro this was THE car I wanted. Not the R, but the base GT350. Unfortunately it turned into too big of a hassle so I went with the 1LE instead.
All the Australian Ford and Holden factories are closing down, so no more Falcon or Commodore. Ford decided to import the Mustang, but we won't get anything other than the regular Ecoboost and V8 GT because Ford says the GT350 and GT350R aren't 'right' for Australia. They obviously don't know Australia because they would sell like crazy here. Such a pity.
Not right for Australia? That is the stupidest, most insulting response Ford could give. How about we just don’t have the capacity to make some specifically for Australia.
Guilherme Sousa Oh I know what it is. lol. I've been saving that video to watch when I'm in a mood and wanna be cheered up...you know...kind of like one of those kids that can't keep crying when you make them laugh. lol
I want one more then you man!! Ever since Ford made this car, it's truly an maxing machine. Like you said nothing wrong with the LS engines but this engine is the best ford has built. Great Job SVT you built an amazing Mustang.
Matt: when you buy one; please baby it after about 50k hard miles and then watch the value triple over about 5 years. Edit: I was never much of a stang fan but after your fox body project and now this 350r. ford has won another fan
Joe Tavarez The R because it has such huge potential off the lot. All the tuning shops who work with Mustangs I am sure already have 1000+hp kits just waiting to go, plus you could strip 400 lbs out of the interior and make a kind of 'RS' version.
Jason Chatham I understand the "Potential", but that weight is ridiculous. There are far better cars for this price that have better potential.I don't understand how this car is so heavy with no backseat.
Joe Tavarez true, there are better cars to start w but many come with paddles and are mid/rear engine. Front engine, high revving, NA V8 is its own flavor of driving. It will never act like a 570S and that is exactly why some will go for the stang Instead of the Brit or the german .
nothing like watching a passionate man enjoying a cat he loves.i too feel this way with my 5.0.poetry in motion as my daily driver.Ford got it right.i love you Flatt rock
+TheSmokingTire I hope you get one Matt. My only downside would be the noise level. Other than that, it seems pretty perfect. For my needs, I would take the coyote. I don't drive fast and I like the rumble of the 5.0. :-)
God daaaamn, Matt, that's a fucking Daytona!!!! That's going to be so fucking awesome, can't wait for the video! Question: is the Mustang some kind of a bigger, more powerful e92 M3, an e92 M3 MKII by Ford if you will :)? I mean, there are quite a lot of similarities between them!
Nice ride. If I could afford an extra pure sports car this would probably be it - price markups notwithstanding. Excellent canyon racer. Well done Ford!
I love this car. It's a break away from where the performance car industry is going with their powertrains which is forced induction. I hope I can buy one in the future.
Such a cool car. My dream garage would be this and the new Raptor. I think I'm going to make the Raptor happen soon, but based on production limitation alone, the 350R seems unlikely. :(
Exciting review and great vehicle. I still think the sixth gen camaro ZL1 would be my preference at about the same price but I'm an admitted GM guy. Thanks for the great one take.
Wow! Im really starting to like the new mustang. Ford did a good job making it. And this one definitely takes the cake. Just wish I could afford one. Maybe when im 60 and retired. lol
+DJ JONES it's not even a collector car haha. They're making too many of them for it to be one. The reason why it's marked up is because of demand. You know anything about economics lol?
+WeekEnd133 500 a year is definitely collector territory. currently 37 2015's were built and 227 2016's. as far as all these msrp deals as posted above those are definitely not r's going for msrp.. if they are post up the name and location as I'll buy one today.
I don't mind that much as long as a manual is still offered but there was a comment on Reddit where people wanted a 10 speed auto GT350 and I threw up in my mouth a little bit. It just goes against what this car is supposed to be. The worst part is that it got a fair amount of upvotes.
This is the updated BMW E92 M3. This is what BMW should have made the M4. I've never liked ford but they're coming with some good cars that even I can respect as a "hater" with the GT350R and the soon to be released Focus RS
+nE CoBraaa if BMW still had its soul that is, which it lost a long time ago as it seems. seriously, even the m92 m3 doesn't come anywhere close to this GT350. even in its heyday bmw couldn't have possibly come up with a car as brash and balsy as this new Mustang GT350/R.
+Vlad Pootin ok calm down now. The M4 will beat a gt350 on the track and if you wanna talk about the gt350R, then you need to compare it to the M4 GTS that's coming soon. Both are the track versions of each. Last time I checked, the M4 GTS has faster lap time than the GT350R around the Nurburgring which is THE pinnacle of race tracks.
+nE CoBraaa That's because the former Ford CEO Allan Mullaly finally ditched it's many other brands such as Jag, Land Rover, Volvo etc. to focus on the Ford brand itself. It's really, really paying off!
I think the Mustang is that perfect mix of American muscle and sporty euro car that we all wanted deep down. Look at the body lines, listen to the engine, so perfect, so amazing.
Nice review, I'm planning on purchasing the GT Premium, never could afford the 350R, plus I am tightwad and just refuse to drop that much on a car lol. My only complaint is, why don't Ford go ahead and put those as standard?? I mean really, that is where the Camaro is beating the Mustang. So why not just go ahead and put them on and make one of these best cars you can get for the money??? Oh well, just my thoughts
Hi Matt - So you've been able to drive it on the road for a while.... You mentioned being interested in DD'ing it - how realistic do you think that is now that you've spent this time in it? I have an R on order - biggest purchase I've ever made in MANY years of Mustang ownership...so part of me wants to pamper it with Cars and Coffee and an occasional HPDE. The other part of me says, "You aren't going to live forever!" and is begging me to just put it into DD duty. This is the ultimate first world problem.
+Jeff Foster I would say semi daily it, maybe fridays and weekends to keep it feeling special for a loooong time. Unless you have no traffic where you're from, DD'ing an R might make you think you're hurting your baby.
i wouldn't dd it. pot holes and rock chips will destroy your paint and wheels. plus the maintnence will cost a pretty peny. resale value will drop with miles.
Kalashnikov Cortez yeah, i didn't say "electric vehicle" driver, did I? I said PRIUS driver. Big difference. Look up the term "left lane prius" and you'll see why.... :-)
"it sounds like you are being chased by a Civil War" LMAO

Would you trade the focus rs for the gt350r if you coild
Could?
Fuck oath I would.
It's like saying would you Trade a Cayman GT4 for a GT3 RS. It's a no brainer IMO.
+Riparay121 haha true
LOL is that even a serious question??
+Riparay121 Uhhh...I like the Cayman cause it's manual lol
The GT350R is AMAZING! But has anyone noticed that stunning red queen in the background during the walk around?
YES!!! Daytona
Yep...gorgeous
That's a Superformance 1965 Shelby Daytona Coupe.
Guilherme Sousa
Oh I know what it is. lol. I've been saving that video to watch when I'm in a mood and wanna be cheered up...you know...kind of like one of those kids that can't keep crying when you make them laugh. lol
nezerac been there, done that hahaha
I’m a die hard Corvette/Camaro guy
But ford made me fall in love with this car
I want one more then you man!! Ever since Ford made this car, it's truly an maxing machine. Like you said nothing wrong with the LS engines but this engine is the best ford has built. Great Job SVT you built an amazing Mustang.
Matt: when you buy one; please baby it after about 50k hard miles and then watch the value triple over about 5 years.
Edit: I was never much of a stang fan but after your fox body project and now this 350r. ford has won another fan
Jason Chatham @3700 pounds...really?
3700 pounds really isn't that crazy these days but I understand it's no miata lol
I've driven a GT350, that voodoo engine is absolutely stunning. Absolute gift from above.
love this car!! most badass car ford makes imo!! the sound is so unique, cool vid, get one!!!!!!!
She grips the road nicely....great scenery!
nothing like watching a passionate man enjoying a cat he loves.i too feel this way with my 5.0.poetry in motion as my daily driver.Ford got it right.i love you Flatt rock
You mentioned the aftermarket, if you owned this vehicle would you make any modifications or is it "prefect" out of the box.
+alex moore no, no, no, you don't fuck with something this good.
Hahaha, okay!
Great response
Roll cage it for the track
+TheSmokingTire I hope you get one Matt. My only downside would be the noise level. Other than that, it seems pretty perfect. For my needs, I would take the coyote. I don't drive fast and I like the rumble of the 5.0. :-)
+TheSmokingTire Like the e46 m3 !
I would love this in my garage. Too bad dealers will have a huge mark up for this.
"it sounds like you're being chased by the civil war"
lmao
Found this exact car GR016 and now it is mine. Best Mustang I have owned by far. Love the thumbs up I get from all the cops in Atlanta.
I want one , but I would recommend fellow engineers to make the 331 and you will have a very balanced kick ass stang ...Mustang is my passion .
man this shelby is incredible! would love too have one!
The GT350 engine feels just like the DINAN E92 4.6 Stroker engine and makes similar power
+TheSmokingTire High revving engines are great and high displacement, high revving engines, are the best! Thank you for answers and content!
I'm just here for the bug review.
Nice ride. If I could afford an extra pure sports car this would probably be it - price markups notwithstanding. Excellent canyon racer. Well done Ford!
That V8 sounds like no other. It sounds amazing.
"It sounds like you're being chased by the civil war" is an amazing quote lol
Literally My Dream Car!
"It sounds like you're being chased by the Civil War." I'm so weak.
That was brilliant. I wonder who came up with that.
+DXman099 LOLed
I've rewatched this video so many times now. Still love the 350r
I love this car. It's a break away from where the performance car industry is going with their powertrains which is forced induction. I hope I can buy one in the future.
Lower Big Tugunga canyon. ..... nice road for a great car. ...
I've may have been one of those bicyclist, something zoomed by...:)
Such a cool car. My dream garage would be this and the new Raptor. I think I'm going to make the Raptor happen soon, but based on production limitation alone, the 350R seems unlikely. :(
Zach Billings dont worry about it prices will go down as the new 2018 came out ...
Exciting review and great vehicle. I still think the sixth gen camaro ZL1 would be my preference at about the same price but I'm an admitted GM guy. Thanks for the great one take.
Never been a Ford fan but dam are they doing it right. I would love to own both an RS and this new Shelby GT350. Great cars!
Wow! Im really starting to like the new mustang. Ford did a good job making it. And this one definitely takes the cake. Just wish I could afford one. Maybe when im 60 and retired. lol
The gt350r's v8 sounds like a NASCAR v8
Cameron Merz because of the flat plane crank that v8 makes a lot of noise and vibrations and big power. Such a beast
No it doesn't, NASCAR motors are outdated two valve, cross-plane motors.
@@2024hekyeah NASCAR motors are not flat plane.
This car looks like a real CROWD pleaser
I drive a mustang and it's difficult to find a good sized crowd to
the only problem with this car in the dealer markup.
+elr2141979 just part of the only 500 per year thing. You can find regular 350's at msrp.. just not many with the track package, if any.
+elr2141979 LOL dude that's on every collector car no matter who makes it
Ive seen 2 used ones with no mark up and 2 new ones with no mark up
+DJ JONES it's not even a collector car haha.
I love seeing this guy's car reviews!!!
You can tell just by watching the handling and throttle fit so perfect together I want one of these so bad! lol
Am I the only one more interested in that Factory Five Daytone Coupe Replica
+Adrian Acosta No, no you are not.
Those things are gorgeous
That one is made by Superformance. Things awesome though.
I really hope ford doesn't start using paddle shifters
People need to upvote this so Ford people can see!
I don't mind that much as long as a manual is still offered but there was a comment on Reddit where people wanted a 10 speed auto GT350 and I threw up in my mouth a little bit. It just goes against what this car is supposed to be. The worst part is that it got a fair amount of upvotes.
Sean Berger I hope they do.
Cucky Betamore I think its just a "Macho" thing. LOL
Welp, the new gt500 comes with a 7 speed dual clutch..so yep.. Paddle shifters
Does the steering get more communicative if you take it out of normal mode?
Perhaps if you put it in the more track focused mode?
I think the Mustang is that perfect mix of American muscle and sporty euro car that we all wanted deep down. Look at the body lines, listen to the engine, so perfect, so amazing.
Much better than the Kia....
"Sound like you're being chased by the civil war" - haha awesome
The fact that this car makes you giggle, makes it the perfect car! Can't wait to see your spec! This thing sound like a nascar!
Gotta be the most beautiful sports car / muscle car coming to the road for 2016. :) You'd be crazy to not want one.
+Jeff Foster if you can afford an R and have an allocation for an R, you'd be an idiot not to take it.
Oh, I'm taking it. Deciding how to treat the car is the only question ;)
+Jeff Foster I would say semi daily it, maybe fridays and weekends to keep it feeling special for a loooong time. Unless you have no traffic where you're from, DD'ing an R might make you think you're hurting your baby.
i wouldn't dd it. pot holes and rock chips will destroy your paint and wheels. plus the maintnence will cost a pretty peny. resale value will drop with miles.
it also has track tires so those won't last long and bad for wet weather.
lol at 00:04:24 typical prius drivers... they never fail at being slow, in the way, and lame
+MK7GTI Hey dude I drive a Prius :( and I'm not even that gay
+Nick Piberius Wilde lol
+65elcamino283 XD
+65elcamino283
careful he might owns a Tesla that'll kick your ass
Kalashnikov Cortez yeah, i didn't say "electric vehicle" driver, did I? I said PRIUS driver. Big difference. Look up the term "left lane prius" and you'll see why.... :-)
Upgraded your onboard camera? Its so crisp and sharp now!!!
Nope exactly the same gear I've been using for a year
+TheSmokingTire Ok. My fault. Thanks for responding :)
+Life of Main no worries, glad you're enjoying it
+TheSmokingTire Why dont you hold out for the 2017 Camaro ZL1 as it will destroy the GT350R and probably the 2018 GT500 as well?
+TheSmokingTire Matt didn't Ford sell out the GT350R a few months ago?
I like that saying. " it's loud to the point of proper obnoxiousness ". Well said
wow what a incredible shelby! you're a lucky man too be able too drive such a awesome mustang! congrats!
