Be sure to check out our in depth blog comparing various methods of wireless speaker systems: djshelpingdjs.com/wireless-spe...
This video was filmed on location during setup for a wedding ceremony & reception. The primary points are to show how you can broadcast audio from one speaker to a remote speaker, and then from that remote speaker to additional remote speakers. Also discussed are some of the features and benefits of the Sennheiser systems, and overcoming objections/challenges to using them such as sonic fidelity, delay, work ethic, and AC power options.

I live in Oregon and was asked to do a show (Wedding ceremony and reception) in Idaho. I was asked to have speakers in multiple areas. Having this system was the only way to fly. We had multiple people speaking, singing, background music, and dancing, and the sound was incredible.
I’ve used this system for years and I wouldn’t go anywhere without it. If you don’t need it that’s great but when you do need it and you don’t have it then you have problems.
As a professional sound engineer / videographer in Chicago, I started doing this with my Sennheiser wireless camera systems, 12 years ago. I've also done it with my old Shure U4D wireless systems. (Systems that I retired from handheld / lav service, since buying a fleet of Sennheiser systems) I never had a problem with them, while doing this. I've also done this with 12 powered speakers, at a golf course, without any issues, and with total success. Luckily for me, each of the speaker's designated areas, had a power outlet close by. (Within 50 feet)
Jose, What cables are you using? I have tried to do this with my current system EW 100 ENG G3-A and am getting feedback in the main system It might be my settings as well, Thanks.
Thank you for this video. It answered many of my questions. And for the people asking how to power the speakers, in venues such as these, there usually are multiple electrical outlets near the gazebos, you will still need some electrical extension cords.
Fantastic video man and backed with proof and knowledge. There is a reason you are getting these gigs over and over. Great friendly sales ability and true knowledge is a hard combo to compete with.
U have finally made me a believer. I was always a bit skeptical when it came to this but now after watching this video i think ill be making my next purchase. Nice review of this product Rick. Thanks again.
Thank you for the final part of the video proving no delay - that sold me to go wireless!! I've seen others say it, but you proved it in your video. Now, I am a complete noob when it comes to going wireless, so I be watching your other videos to learn how to setup this wireless starting from my amp. All the videos I have seen so far start at the speaker. But, I really need to get educated from the sound source and then work my way out.
A lot of people are asking about power for remote locations. I don't know what they're using here, but I have a solution that works really well. I use a Duracell Powerpack Pro 1300. It's a very good portable battery pack with 2 AC outlets. You just charge it overnight and it will run a single speaker for at least 4 or 5 hours. It's perfect for a separate ceremony location and cocktail hour. Depending on the size of your speakers and the amount of power they consume, you could possibly get it to run for your entire reception also, but that might be pushing it. You'll get a slight hum from through the speaker from the battery, but you'll never notice it if you're playing music, or even if you're just using it for ceremony mic audio. I do a lot of beach weddings and this has been a Godsend. It's just under $200 and it's available on Amazon. Check it out. You won't be disappointed. If agigprodj can provide a better solution that gets rid of the hum I'm all ears also. I'm always looking to improve the quality of my product. You can also check out the Roland BA330 speaker which has its own battery power internally through AA batteries. It'll run for 8 hours on its own. The speaker is $600 new but it's also a great option.

This speaker wouldn't be very good unfortunately. I have another one like it that I got rid of because it caused too much feedback. I'm using my EV ZLX12P speakers for the ceremony now after I upgraded to the 15's for primary use. They're a little heavy but they produce amazing sound and almost never have feedback issues
EV's are excellent. I was offering a low budget option with the Rockville.... the ZLX's are great....
The hum is coming from the fact that you're using a modified sine wave (aka square wave) inverter which essentially is subjecting the amplifier to a lot of harmonics and even brief overvoltages 120 times a second. It might look like an AC outlet but you need a pure sine wave inverter in order to have something that approximates wall power.
Chris Bower lol. I was just saying how I'm looking into options like these. Thanks for your leg work. Haha... but really, thanks bro.
Awesome solution. You’re not being lazy, you’re being smart and efficient.Fortunately nowadays equipment has improved so very much that it makes our lives easier. I sometimes do similar smart solutions for my live sound PA going remote.
Been doing this for YEARS - first with my trusty Samsons, and now with a bag of Sennheisers that I've collected, and I can't overstate how useful these techniques are. One thing to point out that I don't think Rick mentions. Antenna height is an important variable. He's got the radios up on top of the speakers - Perfect! When they are down low, bodies can act as a shield, and things go badly as soon as guests arrive. (Still would rather see a dedicated ceremony system. Picky, picky!)
Ron I am trying to do this, what cables are you using? I have tried to do this with my current system EW 100 ENG G3-A but don't have the correct cables Thanks.
At 3:10, don't even bother explaining yourself to naysayers. Let them stay on their flat earth while guys like us will continue moving forward, providing great service to our clients and raking in the bookings. I'm super impressed and excited. I was thinking of something like this at a wedding I did a while ago which is why I found your chanel. Keep up the great work.
There were AC power outlets located close to each of the zones on the property. Power is rarely the issue when doing a wireless broadcast (think remote speaker at the far end of a hall...finding power is usually the easy part), it's the audio cable that is often times the most difficult part. It's not easy to run XLR cables across a river, across a grassy area covered by 200 people, or through walls, ceilings or floors.
thanks for ur video, can u pls explain further how you managed to powered-up your ACTIVE speakers wirelessly?
Thanks for the no nonsense straight forward video. You'd be the man I hire for an event!! Easy to understand and an honest vibe throughout the entire video.
Thank you, just wondering how do you play stereo signal and can you lower or higher volume at each zone at the main mixer.
Forget what negativity comes from idiots. I think this is brilliant. Great job. Will check out more of your videos in the future.
Thanks man! Very helpful video.
Congratulations!
Cheers from Chile :)
Good job Rick!
love the setup and I do understand that finding power where you speaker is located is easier than running audio cable. My question is what about the weather? are these transmitters and receivers that you sit on top of the speakers weather proof? With outdoor setups rain can come anytime !
awesome videos. these wireless chains are cool. ever have an issue with the k10s turning partially off where sound is not coming out but the green power light on the back is still on, the fan isn't turning, and the blue light on the front has shut off?
Thanks Rick for this information. How do you get power for the speakers? Battery back up? What brand and model?
Awesome job Rick, thanks for all the great info....
love your set up.if i'm use main out put for main speaker.then if set up same like you set up, does the sound relay?thanks
What are you connecting out of your mixer? Is there an XLR out the mixer into the transmitter? I think this awesome.
Thanks for sharing this.
I wanna do the same but I have not enough budget for buying Sennheiser Systems. Is it possible to do with something like Mailada WM8/WM9 transmitters??? Those are 60-100 UDS systems and, as I can see, you need plenty transmitters and receivers.
Wow! Thanks brother! I really appreciate it!
Great Video, I would like to inquire info regarding remote locations where power isn't available. Need battery powered speakers including relays, etc. Thanks
Are you runnin a ton of extension cables for power??
I just fell in love, with this set up. *applause
Awesome video !... And an awesome wireless set up too !
Could you please be kind to give informations about the precise Senheiser transmitter and receivers models that you set up ?
Thanks in advance !
Massive respect !
Hi great video! It’s something that I’ve been looking for! Just one question please is this going to work the same for like 2 or more speaker like 10 powered speakers? I’ll be setting it up for a school with one transmitter. Thank you for the advice and response
Greetings Rick! Maybe this has been answered already, but is there an IEC adapter that can be a female IEC to daisy-chain power to the speaker and the sennheiser G3 bodypack? If not, i was just gonna make one. Thanks
Very impressive. I would not DJ a ceremony at such a great distance but that is my own preference. I like to be there next to the speaker as I play the selected ceremony songs. I enjoy the new Alto bluetooth wireless for Ceremonies and Cocktails. It offers two independent inputs as well as the wireless input for iPad and/or iPhone along with a wireless out to another Alto Speaker. I am lost a bit on Microphone systems between digital or standard UHF. Testing out AKG's Dual DM70 system.
First great vid! is there a problem or how do you work the right and left channels on the mixer through the transmitters and speakers.
Thanks! Looking to setup a system of approx 4-6 speakers for background event music over a football field-sized area, and this may be the ticket!
Awesome!! I'm a mobile DJ and am always looking for a better, faster, higher quality set up because I do everything myself. I was wondering if you've ever hooked the transmitters directly to the mixer XLR output channels for total wireless? I have a total of (8) powered speakers. (4) Tops and (4) Bottoms. I would like to run the (1) transmitter directly from my mixer XLR (Right) to a receiver on my sub bottom and then from my (Right) top to another transmitter to a second right sub and top. Then the same for the (Left) XLR from the mixer, for a total of (8) speakers (2) tops and bottoms right and (2) tops and (2) bottoms left. A total of (2) transmitters on the mixer XLR outs for stereo. (2) receivers on 1st right and left stack in and (2) transmitters on the first right and left stack outs and then (2) receivers on the second stack in.. Hope that wasn't too confusing.. But would this set up work? It completely eliminates all XLR cables.. Thanks
excellent rick
Would this work if you would run a power subwoofer plus a powered speaker?
You rock... Bro... Thanks for the info
How do you run the electric Or where the electric came?
Amazing stuff
What exact model are you using? The thing is I looked into it and the specs on the sennheiser website show that the frequency response only goes down to about 80hz.
I'm looking to do a similar but mobile setup.. I'm concerned about the time scanning for a good frequency , do you know a good digital wireless system? They seem to want to only pair and not multi cast..(XM sayilight radio doesn't have this limitation, so it's just the design.. also I'm looking at the Bose S1 since it's battery powered.. would like to get your thoughts on both. Thanks 👍
Wonderful!
Could I run my bands pa and monitors w these?
Hello, I'm a mobile DJ and humbly need your advice on this.
I DJ most at weddings.
Please I really want to improve on my sound output. I have a single Sub-woofer, two double speakers and two single speakers too. I just want ask if is necessary or helpful for me to buy a crossover and a graphic equalizer??
Hope to here from you soon.
AMAZING!
Rick! What a great set up. I'm curious about the mics you would be using with the officiant / groom if he is mic'd as well. That's so many different frequencies needed. Are you running a totally separate system for this since the body pacs are being used for the speakers?
What is the brand and model of these transmitters
Marvelous!
Excellent explanation; so expensive but is worth every penny... I have a question; how do you or where can I find the way to SYNC differente frequencies to this wireless system; I just bought the new G3 Senheisser and I´m having problems with the frequencies....
Thanks for the time.
Hello excellent product I would like to buy the some equipment can you provide me the name?
Great video. I'd love to know what you charge for all that setup. Premium Pricing
Does it cause feedback in other music venders speakers ?
let me know when u sell the k8's!!
Great job with that type of system but until I really got good at that I probably would have to do what I always do run a small ceremony system working really close with wedding planner...and and a larger reception party set up elsewhere provided wedding and reception is in same venue...alot of things have to be considered sometimes...u got to do what works for but I like the no insanely long xlr cable idea
Can I use my Sennheiser EW-100 G-2 as a Transmitter, and I only have to buy a Receiver ?
Awesome setup Rick. It Makes the outdoor sounds like a professional indoor Music Hall but better. I was wondering what music are you playing in the background.? I love that track. Thanks for the time.
Very helpful
Can I run additional power amps from these receivers?
What wireless system (packs) are you using??
Not usually. Power is not usually the issue, in fact in this video there was power 25' away from the ceremony.
What is the RF distances range line of sight?
Great information! What I want to know is what music is playing in the background- I love it!!
Shazam claims it is Tiny Tunes - Will you catch me (Twin Tunes Mix Edit)
This is pretty cool!! I got to buy this / Quick question, in this particular video / were the speakers plugged into a electric outlet? Or did u have a manual battery powering them up?
hey question i m looking for good deals on dj speakers thing is powered amp 3000 w over 500 v loud enough keep party going whats is best way look for ?
Good Job Rick what brand is good and how much
How do you do the power supply for pa speakers
What wireless mic system were u using
They are directional active antennas for receiving distant UHF frequencies. Go to our RUclips channel and search for "shark fin" to see the video we did on those.
..."I'm not a lazy guy,...but I'm a smart guy!" Priceless...
What kind is this wireless system is going to speakers
Great video! Just a curious question from a total noob, are those shark fins helping the signal in this video and are they something we should buy in addition to these packs too? Just learned about this today.
Hi Michael the shark fin antennas in the video are working in conjunction with the Shure microphone system and does not impact the wireless speaker signal of the Sennheiser kits
Hey Rick its Jeffe... :) Just wanted to ask you about the advantages of controlling the ceremony sound from such a distance as opposed to setting up a second sound system at the ceremony site? Reducing the chances of showing up in the photos is one reason I totally understand, can you site some other reasons?
on the brink of picking this system up, my only concerned is the radio interference when you have guest with their cell phones, cell towers or any other antennas that can interfere with the wireless connection... have you had drop off, loud static interruption when using this system from that distance?.. thanks.. love your educational video..
cellphones dont run on radio frequencies. they run on microwave frequencies. as for the other questions i dont know.
During set up be sure to scan for clean frequencies. I think these units have a auto scan feature.
Hey Rick nice setup but cant get my head around the main power. A speaker around 200 feet away and then to the other speakers seems a very long run with main cables again. What am I getting wrong because would love to set up this kind of link when doing occasions like yourself. Many Thanks Rick. Paul (Liverpool uk)
Paul k these arw QSC K series powered speakers they have there own 1000 w amp built in. All you need is a power outlet near by
Your wireless Solutions seems to working well with such conditions. since you're implying that your trying to avoid connecting ACTIVE speakers hard wired, my question, how did you power-up your ACTIVE speakers? where did you get your power source? i believe you only send wireless audio signal and not with power.
Clarence Navarro the QSC K series have built in 1000w amps all you need is a nearby outlet
I need this system .
my quiestion is how r thr QSC speakers powered ?
Thank for the infos, I am digging this right now
Song name in the video?
If power at a distant location is an issue, you might check into getting a deep-cycle battery and power inverter combo...
What about delays? You are going to get LOTS or reverb without it. - Going to sound like Lou Gerig when he said goodby at Yankee stadium
Can we use like 8 speakers on wireless
Hi, I have question, will this device works the same as what you are showing? Though It's a different brand.
Shure pgx4/pgx1 wireless guitar system
Both has receiver and transmitter.
Thanks
I use a wireless guitar system for with my DJ set up and it does the same thing as this! My wireless guitar system cost $70.00... That's why I'm annoyed that this system costs $600.00! This system is for amateur DJ's who know nothing... Experienced DJ's use wireless guitar systems and they are just as good.... It's old school. Young DJ's will buy this and waist their money.
@@jimmyhowes8423 hi which wireless guitar system would you reccommend? to connect 4 speakers?
why don't you use the sennheiser ew 300iem g3 to go wireless
Which wireless system using
What's that song that's playing?
What speaker stands are they
What about running electrical power cord? How are you getting power? People can trip on that too.
Wireless electricity...lol
Good answer...lol
there is probably an outlet somewhere nearby
He has Daracell batteries in each receiver, no battery needed. The speaker need power but there are probably power outlets nearby.
Great point. I'm looking into purchasing something I noticed in an office I worked at. It's a power pack that works up to 10 hours. They're meant to keep you from losing data in the event of a power loss. At least that's why they had it. But apparently they work for camping or wherever you need a power source. But I've noticed that typically if a venue offers an area to setup for entertainment the provide power in that area as well. That seems to be a standard. I actually have a line about that in my contract. I'm just getting the extra power source in case I'm ask to perform at a major remote location. Yes I over think ahead of everything. Lol.
Can you provide links to what actual products you used of the sennheisers and cables? I have gone through your links on your websites and it still really isn't that clear. There are multiple G, A, 100, and 500 systems and it isn't clear to me which ones are what. I know 100's don't have phantom and 500's do... is that needed in this application or no? You see what I mean? I just need a complete break down if you don't mind. I need to get this sort of setup asap. Thank you.
Hi Steven - give us a call and we can answer all of your questions.
How can I get them
veryyy cool , wish i had the money for a wireless systems
Hey Rick! I run all QSC K series and use the Senn G3's as well since I've watched all your videos over the years. Thank you for that! I can't find my cheat sheet on the recommended settings. After playing around a bit before a wedding a few weeks back, I just couldn't get the settings dialed in just right in time. Although, I had it right a month before. I know you need to tweak it in.... but what is your approximate baseline to start for the following:
Receiver AF Out:
Receiver Squelch:
and... do you leave the Pilot Tone on
Transmitter Sensitivity:
Also, on the QSC mixer, you have the button selected to Mic yes?
Hopefully I hear back from you on this Brother. Again, thank you for your time and for posting all the vids over the years. The use of your knowledge and technology has definitely made it easier for me over the years.
Cheers!

Matthew, What cables are you using? I have tried to do this with my current system EW 100 ENG G3-A . Thanks.
Hi Matt. Do you have those specs? Can you share please
Are the Shark Fins are only to receive the signal from Wireless Mic and not for Transmission of the Music?
That is correct.. In this example the fins are only used for sending the wireless mic signal back to the system.
@@agiprodj could Shark Fins be used to send the Music Audio from the 8inch Speaker to all of the other outdoor Speakers rather than having transmitters on each Speaker?
I use a wireless guitar unit to send music to speakers without wires... The draw back is that it's mono.... I only use them for cocktail hours or for outside wedding ceremonies. You can get a wireless guitar system for about 60-bucks... It doesn't even have to be UHF.... VHF works fine too.
Can this be used for a band? We are Guitar, Piano, Drums, Stand up Bass and vocalist
Absolutely
Good job, all in all. But still I also do not agree with your statement that cable creates a delay. It has other losses but not in the time frame.
I am looking for a Professional powered speakers and mics that i can use on a beach wedding where there is no power at all.Can you help? I am a Saxophonist.
