    Hello Karo, Im enjoying your journeys. Im a distance cyclist too. When I first saw your bike I thought thats a lot of stuff. The more you do this type of touring the more you will be able to decide what you really need to take with you and what you can leave behind. You learn to adapt as you go along. Im going back to Europe in May so will have lots more adventures to enjoy. Enjoy your cycling.

    Awesome job! And I totally understanding the screaming and curse out aloud on climbs! I think most riders do. Lol😂
    One thing I tried once when I had a saddle tt was tilting uncontrollably, if u hav a spare strap/string/even shoe lace. Tie the front saddle rail down to top tube and back saddle rail down to the seat stays. Tt road side hack lasted me two days of riding once!

    since it looks like you're mostly riding on tarmac, you can save quite a lot of energy by putting road bike tires on like continental gp5000 as there is a lot lower rolling resistance.

      Hi, I use Komoot to plan the route so it's quite straightforward (just don't use the "touring" option because it will lead you into palm oil plantations with unmarked dirt tracks, unless that's what you are into).
      But have you decided which route you will be taking to go into Thailand yet? As far as I know, the popular touring route to Thailand is via the west coast and through the Padang Besar Immigration, while some do it via the east coast through the Rantau Panjang Immigration. The route that I took was through the Pengkalan Hulu/Betong border (a lot of hills!).
      If you want to do it via the PH/Betong route, I can share my Komoot link. :)

    • @underthehour
      @underthehour 8 месяцев назад

      @@letsgokaro Hi Karo, where are you today? and thanks for replying. I've been doing some research. I definitely don't want to ride palm oil dirt tracks haha! Although, it might in inevitable along the ride at some point.
      I still haven't decided on the route yet (Been working, although that's over now). I have a week to prepare. I was thinking from Singapore to take the ferry over to Malaysia east side, then ride the back roads west to Malacca. Then straight through the middle like you did to the East coast and crossing the border there into Thailand. I don't mind hills so much :)
      That said many on facebook groups are saying go west coast (skip the east coast because of the monsoons) and eventually taking the ferries into Thailand (Ko Lipe, looks rather nice).
      I'm just so torn on the options. Many also told me not to take camping gear, although am used to heat and I have an ultra lightweight setup.
      Your komoot link would be very valuable.

    • @letsgokaro
      @letsgokaro  8 месяцев назад

      I took camping gear because I was on a budget and because I earn MYR, not USD or any other stronger currencies that can go a long way in SEA haha. Those who always advice people not to take any camping gears to SEA are always from stronger currency countries, based on what I observe. So, to each their own!
