I usually am NOT a fan of videos where the work is already completed and the person is attempting to explain what he or she did, HOWEVER, I have to say your video is, by far, the best "explanation after the work is completed" video I have ever seen in all my many, many years watching and trying to learn on RUclips. I understand now, EXACTLY, how I will be plumbing my tiny cabin/house after watching this video. You are the FREAKING MAN, for real, for real! Thanks a million for this one!
Keoni, thanks so much for the message and kind words, greatly appreciated... especially after a rough day of work off grid!! I'm glad the DWV video was helpful & wish you all the best on your build. Thanks again & have a great weekend!
Thanks Bart!! Thumbs up doesn't exactly come around often here on RUclips so I greatly appreciate it!! Hope you have a great week and thanks again for checking out the channel!
Thank you Mr.You Really Did A VERY Helpful Professional knowledge and Understanding and I will give you the most Best Reveiw From Video, Speaking, Clearly and Explaining How,What ,Why,When,,Thanks MAN. I'M REALLY THANKFUL THAT I.
your video is VERY GOOD . your worlk VERY GOOD . I love to do plumbing . and I thank God for who invented the pvc lol . I download your video . Thank you so much for this video
Well done, good clear explanation of how the system functions. While a pain filming I’m sure, it certainly was helpful to see the above and below level views.
You really good at describing in detail with simple English. And You are right ! There's plenty of videos out there that one can see , but your is ones anyone can actually learn from. thank you my guy.
I watch this video, and to me is very well explain every single steps every single thing that you did you explain reasons and locations and how are you going to mark every single component I’m so proud of you. You explain everything perfectly how you can keep doing this videos a comment all the way from Chicago.
Great video I’m glad it popped up. I’m getting ready to plumb a bathroom in a tiny house / hunting cabin next spring. I didn’t know about glue for cold temps. Central Montana gets really cold. You really clarified a lot for me. Thanks
Thanks Tod, I'm glad the video helped out a bit. Here's to lots of success with your build as well as the hunt 😃. Thanks for checking out the channel/video, much appreciated!!
Clean and nice work. Some ideas...They make a spacer for the toilet flange so you can set it to the floor height and install prior to finish floor. "Tile buddy". That LVL have screws or bolts? Seal up the holes. no cheapo fan for bathroom. I would run the vent in kitchen to near the top of roof. Perfect place for ice dam and if a metal roof could tear it off with ice or snow. cleanout near exit point.
You did everything very well . Good explanation on everything and your train of thought . Double checking before just going for it with the inspector is a great way to not have to do things twice .
Thank you for the brilliant explanations. and no one else does such a great job of showing us and giving dimensions for each piping connection. The lighting is great and you don't whiz by something or skip over something. Very well done, please continue to show us amateurs how you are doing the waste lines, no one else even tries to do a good job, as you have done. Thanks again QED The only question I had was, it looks like you concreted the bottom of the crawl space , why was that done, it is nice though and you can stand up in there, not many like that..
Hey Charlie, thanks so much for the message & my apology for the delayed response. I'm a bit of an amateur as well (at least in the area of plumbing, lol) so I'm really glad this video has been so helpful to everyone. We poured a slab in the crawlspace for a couple reasons... most importantly for ucc code when using superior walls as well as moisture control. However, it's been very helpful in regards to working down there as well as holding a small bit of storage. Hope this helps a bit & thanks again for the kind words. Have a great weekend!
Great video. Clear and helpful explanation. I'm happy that I ran into your vídeo while searching for a step by step video on how to rough in plumbing a new house. I'm subscribing! 👍😄
The inspector made us insulate all red Pex whether in the crawl space or in the wall. Also would not all a horizontal line like he did in the kitchen. Also had to put clean outs on all drains.
amazing explanation and visual (as a teacher) I give t an A+++. I have plumbing issues, so I was researching trying to understand the plumbing system in a visual, so I can understand what the plumber is talking about. The plumbing industry has its own vocabulary so when a plumber explains with their vocab terms a regular customer, like me, has no clue what he is talking about. This video helped me to visualize and ask the right questions before I decide to spend thousands of dollars. Thank you!!!! God bless you and your family.
Where I live the toilet flange sits on TOP of the finish floor. Also the vanity drain requires a later line not a direct sanitary tee fitting. You have a "S" trap, like the kitchen sink line you did. Also you can vent the whole bathroom with the 3" line, you don't have to vent each fixture separately. Drain lines on a 3" vent can be 10ft away, 2" can be 6-8ft away, 1 1/2 6ft away or less. Great looking job though.
Great tip. I have a stand-up shower that is approximately 6-8 feet away from my toilet and don't have a viable way to vent it. But with your advice I feel more confident that I can use the exiting toilet vent to do that, thanks.
In reality really your flange should be flush with your finished floor..or at least kind of considering tile installation...but really the flange should not be popping out considering every toilet from the bottom is not the same all the way so u have to be careful it rock
Thanks a ton for your video. I'm embarking on moving my kitchen sink over a few feet and need to redo the drain/vent locations and your walk through super helped.
1st video I watched from you. 1/2 way through I subscribed, thumbs up. I said to myself this guy does very good work. I've been in the building trades to include a degree in HVAC. All I can say is nice, very nice. Can't wait to see your other videos.
Hey Dennis, thanks for the message & checking out the channel, much appreciated! Always great to hear some good feedback/comments as there are so many that wanna say different, lol. Hope you enjoy the other videos & have a great weekend!!
Let’s say, you wanted to relocate a kitchen sink from closer to the bathroom plumbing to where you have the sink now. How would you get the sink drain line to the main drain (I hope I’m using the right terms) I think the drain line would be about 8’ from the wall where the sink is going to be Just cut, and insert a combo wye w/long sweep? Haven’t been able to find any videos that show how to tap into the main drain
Great Video I learned so much from your layouts, knowledge and craftsmanship. Very neat and awesome. Mahalo! Living on the Big Island & totally off grid....
Thanks Ruby, greatly appreciated!! No real reason on the PEX other than industry standard at this point I suppose. The fact that it's inexpensive & easy to work with is just a huge bonus, lol. I like other materials as well, but PEX is definitely best for residential applications. Hope this helps a bit... Have a great weekend!
I really like how you broke down everything you were explaining and the time you took going downstairs so we could get a clear understanding of each part you were talking about before moving on to the next thing; even when they were in the same room. And... you did it without editing & splicing your video. I felt like I was walking around your house with you. I wish I was because I would've loved to pick your brain. My mom is having her drains redone & because I have work a little in construction, I was picked to be the one to talk to the crew. They put a 3" drain in for the kitchen sink. I thought it was supposed to be smaller. Because of what the head guy originally had told me about what was part of her original problem. But, the crew used the 3" anyway. When I asked about it, he said it would be fine. Please tell me what you think. I'm hoping to find out before the inspection & concrete for fixing the floor is scheduled.
Thanks very much! If you mean the septic line itself... we may do a video of the overall piping & cleanouts, but it might be awhile as I'm struggling just to keep up with our current videos, lol. Also there's really not much to it, just the main 4in line and two cleanouts... One under what will be a deck and one about 60ft before it hits the tank.
Thanks Jack, much appreciated! Yeah, we should probably turn the "straight forward" into a drinking game, lol. Thanks for stopping by & Happy New Year!
as a plumber u dont need that 3" vent for that water closet. u could have dropped the water closet 90 a little lower and rasied your main and go into a combo or wye 45 on its side and then used the vent on the shower vent as your water closet ventas it is close enough. also idk where u are located but in co u dont need 1/4" grade on 3" pipe you only need 1/8" grade.
Plumber here-Please check out the requirements on spacing for hangers, clean outs and water hammer arrestors. You missed a few things!! Did you get it inspected and did a permit?
#1 closet flange should sit on finished floor, this will eliminate the need for a thicker or double wax ring. #2 wet venting a washer box over a lavatory sink that sits lower is bad , you will condone getting water backed up into the sink. #3 your waste line requires straps every 4 feet. #5 for every 90 degree turn in the waste line, requires a clean out.
Thanks Rick, I appreciate all the info & constructive feedback. Plumbing would be the last trade in my toolbox as I come from an electrical background. This is the first time I've plumbed a house so it's been good to hear back from people checking out the video! Hope you have a great weekend and thanks again!
Thanks Eduardo, much appreciated!! We passed the plumbing rough in & pressure testing inspections with no problems at all! First time plumbing an entire house so we were pretty happy with ourselves 🤪! Thanks so much for checking out the channel/video & Happy New Year!!
Lol... Thanks very much, I'm still washing purple primer off my hands from 2021 🤪! Happy New Year & thanks for checking out the channel/video, much appreciated!!
First of all, thankyou for taking the time to create this video. Secondly, in my opinion you did a good job on the plumbing layout and connections. I'm a licensed builder but not a licensed plumber but here in SC I am allowed to do all my own framing, plumbing, electrical, and hvac work on this new home I am building. I watched your video because I had a few questions regarding plumbing vents. Some of the comments were helpful but a few I disliked because they came across as condescending.... eg.- the one fellow that criticized your gluing and purple priming work. Basically, he was justifying the exorbitant charges to his customers because he could prime and glue pvc perfectly. I smell bullshit.... I'm sure he was a "union" plumber.... You are just like most people, wanting to save money- that's great! Nothing wrong with that at all! I've reached the conclusion that the differences of opinion are due to differences of code ( UPC vs International code), what region of the US you live, and if you are from Canada vs the US. Believe it or not, in SC, in most bathrooms you can put all the fixtures on a 1 1/2" vent. I know that for a fact because I talked to a local plumber who's been doing rough ins for 40 years. They go by international code here. Thats not to say I would do it that way, but thats the minimum ( based on the average bathroom llayout). I'm sure on larger bathrooms it would be 2 or 3 inch. I won't go less than 2 inch vent for a bathroom. If your on a tight budget though it would be okay
Bob, thanks so much for your message, greatly appreciated!! Definitely comes down to some differences in code for sure (especially since we passed with flying colors, lol). Plus, I'd like to see those guys/girls applying primer to pipe in a dark crawlspace, in the middle of winter at 0 degrees outside... something's tells me theirs might be a bit messy too 🤣! Thanks so much for checking out the channel & hope you have a great weekend!! Stay well.
I hope so, lol... just kidding. Always good to check your local code, but normally as long as you adhere to code for hole size & placement on the joist/stud, you're good to go! Great question/comment & thanks for checking out the channel!!
What is the use, like at the closet, shower, or sink line, there is vent up line. ? And could you tell me what will gonna be happened if there no vent for sink or shower line?

Great Video I learned so much from your layouts, knowledge and craftsmanship. Very neat and awesome. Mahalo!
Living on the Big Island & totally off grid....
Thanks Eleniki, very much appreciated!! I'm sure it's beautiful on the Big island... Plus, everything's better off grid, lol!! Stay well.
Awesome and helpful video
Thank you, so concise. Can you tell me the reasons behind your choice for PEX? Thank you in advance, John.
Hey you are doing good work...can you provide a walk through of san and vent system that is underground?
Thanks very much! If you mean the septic line itself... we may do a video of the overall piping & cleanouts, but it might be awhile as I'm struggling just to keep up with our current videos, lol. Also there's really not much to it, just the main 4in line and two cleanouts... One under what will be a deck and one about 60ft before it hits the tank.
Great job!
Love this video 👍awesome you made it with such clarity 😅thank you very much 🫡
That’s a great job 👍
Thank you I learned a lot nice job.
Very nice walk-thru. Informative without too much blather.
great job
Very helpful
Good job, straight forward is best
Lol, nice!
Thanks for the great video, very good info and camera footage. Also it was very..... Straight Forward 🤣
Thanks Jack, much appreciated! Yeah, we should probably turn the "straight forward" into a drinking game, lol. Thanks for stopping by & Happy New Year!
Those twyes in the thumbnail were crazy looking
I would not drilled all those holes for the waterline through the floor joists , you could just anchor it to the bottom of the joists.
as a plumber u dont need that 3" vent for that water closet. u could have dropped the water closet 90 a little lower and rasied your main and go into a combo or wye 45 on its side and then used the vent on the shower vent as your water closet ventas it is close enough. also idk where u are located but in co u dont need 1/4" grade on 3" pipe you only need 1/8" grade.
Lot of info ..thank you for being so simple..
Keep up the good work
Trap arm only has to be 2x diameter of the p trap pipe size if I remember correctly.
Thankyou good job
Thanks Jean!
Great video
You did a great job with video and explaining thank you for the info🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you
I like that adjustable flange
Awesome project and great video, did you pass all your inspections on the plumbing?
Thanks Eduardo, much appreciated!! We passed the plumbing rough in & pressure testing inspections with no problems at all! First time plumbing an entire house so we were pretty happy with ourselves 🤪! Thanks so much for checking out the channel/video & Happy New Year!!
With the exception of the primer. The guy did better than most youtubers.
Nice video, but I would not use metal plumbers' tape to support plastic pipes.
Are you really allowed to go thru the king stud under the kitchen widow like that?
I hope so, lol... just kidding. Always good to check your local code, but normally as long as you adhere to code for hole size & placement on the joist/stud, you're good to go! Great question/comment & thanks for checking out the channel!!
Detailed and good explanation
