I just finished colouring my mostly silver/white hair, I had to bleach the greys in the front of my pixie cut. That was part one of my procedure, part two was toning the yellow out of my hair, I should tell you that I use a high end products on my hair. The toning takes 20-25 minutes and I wash it out and condition my hair and I am never disappointed that beautiful silver/white is the end result. Going silver/white was the best thing I made peace with. Thanks Nokol!
I still have a lot more pepper than salt, but decided it was time to take better care of the salt since it is so wiry and wanting to do its own thing all the time. I started using Loreal Serie Magnum Silver (?), very happy with it. I use it every other or every third wash, and wash aprx every 5-7 days. I like the scent, clean and kind of mountain/woods clean, but the scent doesn't linger. I let it sit for at least five minutes, no scalp burning or itching, doesn't dry my hair or scalp, and I follow with OGX Biotin (purple bottle). Really like it.
I started taming those flying greys with a scant bit of coconut oil. Sometimes I blow dry on low heat, sometimes air dry - sometimes - usually - I add more coconut oil, but it's only ever on the midway down to the tip, not at the root. My hair is getting too thin to be weighing it down at the root!
Annnnd thanks to you (Nikol), I've just bought my first can of dry powder in a can spray stuff/whatever. I have high hopes for it - and was AMAZED at Walgreens to see so many different ones now, when a couple of years ago, that wasn't the case. Hooray!
My hair is pure white. I find that if I add a few drops of purple shampoo into regular shampoo every time I wash it my hair is always white and never purple. Switching off didn't work for me, with regular shampoo I had some yellowing and even one time of purple shampoo it was purple. But this works.

I HAD beautiful gray hair something is turning my hair gold...it looks like I had gold blond hair and it's turning gray...yes use purple shampoo religiously..... I have to go have that gold bleached out which I fought for the longest time because I didn't want to do it and it just kept getting more gold and gold .... Believe it's environmental and I can't do anything about it I guess we'll see after I bleach it out if that ugliness comes back. Keep your fingers crossed for me.

Yes, Nikol! I use purple shampoo & purple conditioner about every 3rd wash. For a hair mask, I use purple *conditioner* mixed with coconut oil. To 'wash' it out, I use an inexpensive conditioner first - that emulsifies it & it rinses right out - then I just wash & condition as usual. Works like a charm on my babyfine wavy hair. Your Fresh Beauty Studio products are wonderful! Frannie is a gorgeous color & feels great. I can do a fast face in no time at all & *feel* I look refreshed! Blessings! Jackie in upstate NY

Mine is still more brown than silver, but everyone tells me how beautiful my hair is. Purple shampoo once a month, I don't wash it on the weekends, air dry as much as possible. After years and years of bleaching, my natural hair is so much better!!
I hear ya silver boomer I am 100% white all over....started going grey at 15 (tks mum) ah I don't mind now 50 in Feb. Finally bit the bullet last week ....after 2 weeks no toner, a good scrub with deep cleanse shampoo then a good scrub with Redken Blondage extend....My 100% white blended in quite nicely with the blonde ends.....so so sick of colouring my hair....I went to hairdressers ....'announced take 3 inches off quick before I change my mind lol'....Now with a kinda bob style going on....I am half white with faded blonde. I shall return each month get an inch cut ( mad crazy thick hair....tks again Mum lol) so hopefully for a family wedding in Aug ....I will be completely white / silver......NO MORE HAIR DYE ......WHOO HOO
I used to use Phytotargent but feel like the formula changed when they changed the packaging. Doesn’t give the same results and is now extremely drying. Pity because I absolutely loved it!

Totally agree .....my hair is quite thick & dry.....I get away with washing my hair every 6 to 9 days .....hmmm zero oils 🙄. So I regular shampoo every 2nd time. Purple shampoo can be tough on hair.....I treat my newly allowed grow out white like gold dust I loooooove it ....xx

I'm so UPSET 😢 mine has definitely changed with heat! And yes I use thermal protection, my water is not hard and I use purple shampoo!
I hear ya hun.....same problem too. I use rollers now if I want a curl. Air dry as much as i can....i only use straightener once a week, if even ....because it had just 1 high setting....curling tongs not too bad if in a hurry I can use lowest setting ....pure hardship. I read that it's not the hair .....its a build up of product that is on the hair that is getting burned and turning yellow. So to get rid of hair spray, protection spray....even shampoo residue I give my hair a deep cleanse every 10 days too ....good old scrub as me Mam used to day pulling the heads off us lol x
I keep my hair white by running purple/blue conditioner through my hair every time I wash my hair...
I don’t like any of the purple shampoos because they dry my scalp...
I use Goldwell Blonde and Highlights and I have no purple buildup...
Sometimes I use it everyday...

I am thinking about letting my gray go but I am nervous about it. I have really dirty dull natural color now that I am older so I color it. I had light brown hair when I was young but it got darker as I aged. I color my hair with Argon Oil color with 7N which I love but I want to stop coloring and still have it look good and not drag my face down. I want the gray to be very white and not yellow. I am following you to see if I can pull it off. Thank you for your tips.

I love the results from purple shampoos except that all the ones I have tried made my scalp super dry. I don’t mean dandruff-I mean tight and uncomfortable. After 50 I started to have this dry scalp without purple shampoo & the purple shampoo intensifies the dryness. Does this shampoo tend to dry out the scalp? Thx much Always enjoy your tips!

It is a good one off product for learning how to get your natural hair color back minus the headache. Ive heard some incredible things about it and my best friend Jordan after a lifetime of fighting got amazing results with it.

I've noticed that it seems you talk about silver and white hair as though they are one and the same. But there actually is a difference. My mother had white hair and my father silver. I don't mean gray-white, it was actually silver which glistened metallic under lights and the sun. I inherited it from him and it grew in in streaks like highlights. But I've been wondering lately though if purple shampoo would enhance the silver? I certainly don't want purple hair or taking a chance that something might change it. Or maybe just using a clarifying shampoo to eliminate product build-up would be best?
I’m also using Purple Shampoo but I hate the way it stains my fingers and inside of my nails do I need to use gloves when applying the purple shampoo?

Can you put a great toner on your salt and pepper hair
Good tips. I avoid products with sulfates or alcohol. When I wash my hair with co-wash or gentle shampoo, the last rinse after conditioning is with filtered water. Chlorine will cause that brass color. I wear a hat if I'm going to be outside for a prolonged period of time. My hair is staying silver without blue shampoo.

Hi, do you tone your hair also? I find that mine is getting really dull and I’ve been looking into the Redken Shades EQ toners to give it some life.
Do you have recommendations on hair spray. I live in the south plains of Texas. Very windy! The ones I have tried make my white right in front yellowish. I have fine straight hair that does not look good on my shape face flat. I am having to change everything I used to do with my hair because I no longer have color or highlights which gave it body. Also used to be thicker. Love your videos. Very informative and down to earth.

Jac, while searching for great white/gray shampoos check Klorane with Centaury on Amazon. I have dry hair and this shampoo is to die for. Good luck.

I find the slate colour shampoo a lot better to give men or women a very true steal grey look which doesn’t wash your face out if your hair is white or a dull grey.

Mine are like the majority: ungodly course, dry, unruly...to be frank, GROSS.
Hair color is SO much more than color...a box of color restores gloss, softness, literally youth for hair!
Now if they could come up with something for gravity we'd be set.

Disappointed by the purple circus hair comment. I have long silver hair that comes out with purple streaks and I get tons of compliments and I like my hair. I felt the comment was harsh. altho you have your opinion it could have been addressed in better way that was less degrading.

Hello Nikol, I have been letting my hair go all natural for about 4 years. I'm about 40% gray and I love it. however I'm have problems with my hair turning yellow. I'm using a purple shampoo and conditioner. but it's not helping. I believe the problem is that I have a well and it doesn't have a softener. Do you have any suggestions to help bring back my beautiful gray? Thank you
I had same problem .....now I buy distilled water from the Pharmacy. My hair is quite dry so I don't wash very often .....hope that helps. I live in Ireland I get a 5 litre container for e10 euro....so its affordable. X

I'm 77 and tho' people always tell me that I don't look my age, my one big downfall is my hair. It has always been very fine, and now in my old age, very thin. In fact, I'm beginning to get bald spots. What I'd like to know is if you know of any wigs that aren't overpowering for someone like me? I have a small head & actually had to have my hats custom made when they were popular back in my days as everything sold in stores was just too large. Sooo..... what I'm finding is that even with wigs that are "supposed" to be light, they are still too overpowering and because of that they look like a bush on my head. I don't mind people knowing that I'm wearing a wig, but I just don't want it to be overpowering for my face. I sure would love to see you do a video with someone like me who has very thin hair and balding, and perhaps see you demonstrate a wig line which truly does make a wig for those who can't handle a lot of hair without looking ridiculous! And no, I can't just wear a filler type piece as I don't have enough hair to hold it in place no matter how many pins I use. What would you suggest? I've always felt that hair makes a person even more so than makeup does! Would you help us senior seniors who still want to look nice? Thanks! (What I wouldn't give for hair like yours!!)

I have the same issue. I am 72 and take a ton of meds. My hair started thinning several months ago and was fine to begin with. GodivaSecret Wigs does carry petite wigs. I have been looking at the same option. As far as your hats... I live in Louisville, Ky, home of the “gotta have” a Derby hat. Check out Dee’s Crafts on the net or youtube. They tell you how to make any hat fit you. God bless
I'm 67 and have been losing hair for some time. I use baby powder applied to my scalp so my hair looks fuller and the pink of my scalp doesn't show through.
Have you ladies tried collagen powder with biotin. I totally destroyed my hair with bleach 6mths ago.....now with alot of TLC and very little heat.....letting it dry naturally, no straightening.....my hair is nearly back to normal albeit shorter .....Collagen is merely a food supplement so it wouldn't interfere with any meds. Hope this helps ladies xx
68 years young, in response to our dilemma! 6 mths into transition....however, I started thinning 2019 began research immediately. My resolve October 2022! The answer for me is hair helpers! Those of us with fine hair find full wigs way out of comfort zone. I have healthy long hair backside and quite thin on sides and top, toppers are quite light and airy. I also use an array of messy bun scruchies as I do not care for my hair down so much these days. Bio silver/white....it took me a year of discovery playing with makeup and clothing-color adjustments. Transitioning continues, my chosen method is quite acceptable and pleasing to the eye. I have arrived and delighted in outcome. Silver Sisters, have fun with it all. Laughing was common to the journey!

How does it smell? All the ones I have tried so far smell awful and are very drying...
Sherry A Have you ever tried Blue Malva by Aveda ? I love the scent of the shampoo. It does not linger in my hair after its rinsed out. A little goes a long way. I use it often and have done so for many years. Doesn't deposit blue, very good at keeping the yellow away. The conditioner has a different scent which is pleasant, doesn't linger. I use just a touch of the conditioner maybe once a month.
??? Question. I have white hair and use purple shampoo too and my question is - once you've got yellowing in your hair how do you get it out?! Let my hair grow out longer so now I use more heat to tame frizz and notice lots of yellowing and can't seem to get it GONE. Yikes. Any help anyone?
I shall use a vinegar rinse, some say it is due also to calcareous built up on hair
It should not hurt hair, but a blue pack of shampoo 2 times a week a few minutes before jumping in the shower, may help 😉
Get a good quality water filter for your shower.
Sun makes it yellow.
Heat, smoke and sun can make it yellow. Flat irons are the worst! Hot blow dryers and curling irons too. Even with heat protecting products.
