You are so real. Your honesty, down to earth and real presentation is refreshing. You showed us your personal journey. Thanks for the tips. I am 72 year old black child of God, and prided my grey hair that framed my face and left the rest of my hair black. However I used Neem oil on my scalp and was horrified that it turned by beautiful grey hair a dirty brown. I shampooed it, but not all came out. Will try your recipe. Thanks for sharing your experience with us. God bless.
Thank you so much. Your recipe worked beautifully for me (with hair more than 90% white). I have now done this treatment twice with a few added tweaks to your recipe: 1) not on wet hair, 2) a tetch higher concentration of HP, 3) I also added a bit of very dark purple shampoo - nut-sized amount, and 4) I left it on more than 40 minutes. I just did the yellowed sections - not all of my hair. Washed it out - and ... such BRILLIANCE. SHINY, all warm tones are gone. I can see that this recipe is suitable for ME to perform not more than once per week. But in just two days (last night, and this afternoon), the results are FANTASTIC, resulting in icy white hair. Thank you again.
What are the measurements of each component plz! Don’t want to screw up my hair. I have salt and pepper hair so will this treatment destroy my dark gray?
Hard water can cause yellowing of your hair too. Try to use clear treated water (water softener or city water) to wash your hair in if possible. Hard water is what my problem is 👌.
Hi David! Thank you so much for the tip! We were using well water (we have moved so now use city water) so I think that's why my hair turned a dirty looking yellow. It was awful.
How sweet of you to take the time to share your experience! I have a light gold bathroom, and silly me, I thought my white hair was just picking up the color from my walls!!😱😱😱 okay, I thought I was suppose to be gaining wisdom as I got older!! Well, so glad you came along. I just tried your method with great results! I think one more time will finally rid my white hair completely of the yellow twinge! Again, thank you for this method! Stay safe!
Thank you so much for posting this treatment! I have had grey hair for 3 years now and all of a sudden the area around my face started to turn yellow. After searching and trying natural remedies with no success, your treatment worked beautifully. I applied the treatment two days in a row and the yellow is nearly gone and my sensitive, curly hair has no damage! I too will be apply this treatment maybe once a month to keep all of my grey bright and yellow-free. Thank you again!
Hi Jessica, Thanks so much for sharing this video. I have done 2 treatments now, each a week apart, and I can see a difference. I will follow through with 1 more treatment. I have thin fine hair and was nervous to try this. I’m thrilled at the results and I didn’t need to go to a hair salon for an expensive treatment. Thanks again and take care!!
Thank you so much for posting this treatment! I have transitioned to grey hair 2 years ago + noticed that I had some yellowing in the last few inches of my hair (similar to how yours looked). I do shampoo my hair with Clairol Purple Shampoo + Conditioner once a week, but I wash my hair every other day, so maybe I wasn't using the Purple Shampoo + Conditioner enough. But anyway, I tried your treatment and I'm so pleased to say there's no longer any yellow in my hair at the ends. Like You, I also needed to do it three times to remove all the yellow. But my curly hair is damage free, thanks to your kind + thoughtful tip! Thank you again, truly appreciated.
Hi Gina! I am SO glad this treatment helped you! Purple shampoo and conditioner masks yellow-it doesn't remove it. When you use it, it will cover the yellow but once it washes out, the yellow will be visible again. This treatment removes the yellow.
3% food grade hydrogen peroxide is not very damaging especially on course hair. I don't think you need to dilute it at all. I spray it on my hair with a spray bottle and makes sure it's saturated. Comb it through and pin it up and put plastic wrap on it and leave on for a hour once a month and my hair is soft and fine.
This works wonderfully! I highly recommend this. I also used my hands, to make sure it was all covered, then placed a zip lock bag over my head, and waited 20 minutes. This worked Execelently!!!!!! Many thanks to you!!
Hi, I'm not gray just a few here and there. So I tried this method not for my gray, but to remove hair dye gently and it works, I had a bad box dye. It's was supposed to be brown, but I got red and then made my few grays pink, it looked awful. I used this method for 3 weeks(one a week) and left it about a hour and now my hair is 2 shades lighter and almost all the dye is gone. Thank you so much 💓 💗 💛 💖 ☺
Thank you for sharing this! I have been trying to find a solution to my white hair turning yellow for a while now. The purple shampoo tones down the brassiness but also turned the darker color underneath a strange purple-brown so I won’t use it anymore. This past summer I was convinced that it was oxidation from being out in the sun so I religiously wore a hat every time I went out, but no it still turned yellow after a few months. I am looking forward to trying this, fingers crossed it works!
Thank you so very much for looking, finding and trying out recipes until you found one that worked! I’m trying to grow out my silver hair and was ready to cut it way short because of the yellow!!! Bless you!!!
Ditto. Same here! My hair at 53 is white now. I skipped pepper and went straight to salt. Mine naturally looks yellow. Bright yellow. It is so bright like ghost of Christmas past bright that I have tried everything to go silver. It has been a task. I have a plan to use a dark Smokey grey around sides of my head and a light silver on top. That’s the look I’m going for. Similar to what you have here except I’m getting ready to cut mine into a short sharp edge haircut that is real tapered in back and long in front. With your good hair you should do it. I think long grey hair is not quite as sharp looking as a short modern look. Do it girl. You are half way there.
Visited again cause it's such a great video. Really appreciate the progression of photos showing difference. Going to do it today and stop procrastinating! Thanks so much for sharing:)
Thank you! Let me know if it works. Make sure to make a fresh batch every time you use it. Also, if the yellowing is the result of sun damage or your hair was burned by a hot styling tool, nothing can remove that other than letting it grow out and then cutting it off. Hopefully that isn't the case for you. *Purple shampoo will cover/mask yellowing caused by sun damage by neutralizing the yellow.
I once asked a lady in the grocery store how she got her white SO WHITE, this is exactly what she told me she uses (minus the water, but she applied to wet hair though)
Hi Mom of Jays! I have heard of some people using this treatment without the water who have been happy with the results. I’m not brave enough to try it that way- I feel more comfortable diluting it with water.
I have been using this for the past 2 years, I have never diluted it and cover it with a shower cap for 15-20 minutes. It definitely doesn’t dry it out. No need for purple shampoo anymore either.😊
Tried this today and last night for my shoulder length grown out silver hair. Part of my hair is a brownish gray. Both treatments yielded poor results unfortunately! Barely showed up at all. Second treatment was peroxide and purple shampoo for 35 minutes. I must have stubborn hair! I will try again in a week to see if it will begin to lift. I love my front bangs, nice and light. But I have other tones I dont love. Its still so much better than chasing the grey line! I love being mostly silver.
After about a dozen nonsense videos, I came across yours with practical information and testimony with before/after pics. Great job and thank you! I will do this bi-weekly for maintenance. I’ve been using purple shampoo once a week and purple conditioner once a week and for almost a year, no yellowing, but I’ve been noticing it more lately. I’ll watch more of your vids, they seem genuine and practical.
This may not work for everyone, but first try it worked for me, Thank you! The top of my hair is a pretty shiny white, but my hair styling is so much better when I flat iron it, and I needed a refresher solution for when it darkened and it worked 👍
I have also had underwhelming results with purple shampoo on my white and gray hair. With exposure to exactly the same shower/well water, sunlight, and other environmental factors, Hubby has beautiful white hair with no yellow, while mine turns yellower on the ends. I suspect damage from heat styling, so will try your method. Thank you for sharing!
I've used peroxide on my hair for years, sometimes I add it to baking soda and use it as a detox to get all of the chemicals out of my hair. I will squirt it on my hair rub it in, add a light conditioner leave for a few minutes then rinse. Usually lasts for 3-4 months. ***Side not, I have those same bathroom hardware that you have behind you in mine.
Thank you! I've tried nearly everything to get the yellow out so I am very hopeful with this treatment. I had beautiful snow white hair until I moved to the country where I have well water so my hair is stained yellow from iron in the water. Great video also.
Thank you Rocky Road! If you can, get a water filter. Our well water would stain everything...the shower curtains, my hair, etc. It was horrible. The water filter helped. The treatment will remove the stains from your hair (it may take a few treatments depending on how bad the staining is) and the water filter will help keep your hair from getting stained over and over again.
Just starting my gray journey ( bout 3 months in) and I’ve been watching many “going gray” videos for inspiration. Glad i found this one so if i do encounter yellowing i can use your remedies and not be tempted to jump back on the dyeing train. Thanks!!
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond I've already taken the path of purple shampoo and conditioner 5 mins each has already turned my hair the silvery white blonde that I want but I'm going to do the roots in the hydrogen peroxide when they start to come in love the color I have works well with dark root so far ❤
Amazing. Great job on the video. With my super short hair I don't see yellow, but will keep this in mind for the future. Maybe a wide tooth comb would be good for application.
Wow! This sounds like a great treatment. I've been using blue shampoos (Blue is better for me because I have a lot of a warm brown natural color left )for toning and kept thinking there has to be a way to remove this rather than just covering it up. I will try this soon. Thank you
This is the only thing that worked for me (other than covering up the yellow with purple shampoo). It completely removed the yellow. I still use this treatment once a month to keep my hair from looking yellow. If you give it a try, please let me know if it helped!
@@ccMomOfJays not yet! I don't really notice that awful golden cast right now, (I have been clarifying, and using a ton of smurf colored shampoo lol)but I will try it this summer because of the sun/chlorine etc. Definitely saving the info! Thanks so much. Your hair is gorgeous! 🧓
I found I have to use purple shampoo for gray hair and a purple conditioner. I was told by my hair stylist that the wax in the previous hair products held oil and dirt to my hair. Idk if that helpful. I'm glad that the hair treatment is working for you.
im doing this now i hope it helps i have been going grey for over 3 years and i have no more box color in my hair and its got some of my reg, dark brown almost black color in it kinda like salt and pepper but i play golf and my hair turns a yellow orange color on the tips and in the back so i hope this helps i dont want to go have it done bec, i dont want them to use a full bleach on it i know peroxide is a light bleach bec, back in the 80's we use to use it in highschool ( that just made me feel old ) lol but we would use peroxide and blowdry kinda like sun in .. so thank you for this video
I have been looking for something to remove the yellow from my quite silver hair. I am going to be trying this. I did see your video regarding the use of ACV and will probably use that after I get the yellow removed with this peroxide recipe =) Thank you!!
Very interesting and you explain it quite thoroughly so thank you!!! I just washed and conditioned my hair but I'll try this in 4 days. If i can wait that long! Lol
Thank you! I love trying DIY treatments and sharing the results. I am letting my hair grow out so I can donate it so I am waiting until I cut it to try more treatments. I am almost at the length I need to be able to donate. Once I do, I will be testing out more hair treatments. Thank you for your support and for watching!
I've never used it on heat damaged hair so I honestly don't know. My hair turned yellow because we used well water which stained my hair. You can try it on a patch of hair to see if it will work. It may take a few tries to get results. If you try it, Please let me know if it worked. I don't apply heat to my hair anymore (I haven't used heat in at least a year) so I can't test it.
God this is making me cry 😢 Ok by the end your hair looks much lighter 😅. I’m gonna try it. I always heard about it but just was afraid due to the drying from the peroxide and my hair is baby fine white/silver 😬 it’s yellowed on top layer like from the sun with highlights actually from spending nine months in Sandiego. Thanks so much for your share ❤️ your a beautiful soul! 🙏
Hi Anne! I hope it helped get rid of yellow. I've been told that it worked on the first try for some ladies, but It may take a few tries like it did for me.
I’m so happy it worked for your beautiful hair! Do you know what caused the yellowing? I’m only 6 months in my grey hair transition so I have a while to go , but it’s good to have this kind of information ! Thank you for sharing 👩🏻🦳🥰
Thank you so much! I think it was caused by my water-we use well water. We had a new well put in so our water is really clean and clear so I assumed it would be ok. I think the ends turned yellow because on days when I didn't wash my hair, I'd leave it up in a pony tail which got a little wet when I showered. As soon as I noticed the yellowing, my husband ordered a filter for the shower. It is definitely a good idea to be ready for any issues that may and most likely will come up. I knew about gray hair yellowing but wasn't too concerned about it. I thought it would be an "easy" fix but it was REALLY hard to get rid of it. For about half a second, I considered dyeing my hair-I'm glad I didn't! So now, I spend a lot of time reading about gray hair care and learning all I can so I can be ready when something like this comes up.
@@looley4052 that's interesting, I live in a town with a lot of lime in the water, if I didn't use a filter I'd be descaling kettles every week! My hair is a nice natural grey except for the fringe, yellow hue, bugs me so much, thinking of trying bottled water to wash my hair and see how that goes 😀
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond yellow shampoos will cause it too. I was using one and mine started to yellow. Use clear and a clarifying shampoo once a week I’m going to try this
@@OblioandArrowInc My hair recently turned a yellowish color and I’d wash out the yellow with this treatment (and I was doing everything I needed to keep my hair from yellowing)but the yellow kept coming back. Turns out the shampoo and conditioner I was using (both are a creamy white) have a yellow dye! So even if the products are white, check the Ingredients before using-that is something I will always do from now on.
I have never heard of demineralizing shampoo. I'll read about it later tonight! Is there a brand you recommend? I get so overwhelmed with all the products out there.
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond Here is a link to really good brand. I have not used this yet, but I will be. If your hair is yellowing from hard water, then you should use this regularly, maybe once a week. malibuc.com/products/hard-water-wellness-shampoo?variant=31714228699199 Also, the sun can yellow your hair. If you spend time outside, consider wearing a wide brim hat to cover your hair.
I love in a hard water area, my hair has grown out from dark hair to Silver. ! No yellow so far been 9 months now ,I just use a colour protect shampoo and conditioner x🇬🇧
Thank you for making this video! We have really hard water and my gray transitioning has left me with orangy/grey/dark 3 tone hair even after doing a dye removal treatment. My hair was much lighter after the treatment but due to the water being so concentrated with iron, I continue to have orange/red tone
Hi Kerry! My hair turned yellow/orangy because of the well water. It was horrendous. This treatment helped wash it out BUT I was still using well water (I had no choice). I bought a shower head with a water filter and that solved that problem! I haven't had any issues with hair yellowing from water anymore. I use the PureAction Showerhead with filter because it filters out 99.9% iron, hard metals, calcium, sediments, etc. but I have heard Aqua Bliss is a good one too.
Thank you so much, I did once on Fridya and noticed a big difference, then again on Sunday and my hair went back to normal getting rid of the yellow that one shapoo (I believe) was giving me, but whatever it was, now I am so happy with the result. I will be doing this once a week to keep it shiny and healthy.
Hello Beatrice! Yes, it will work on salt and pepper hair. My hair is very dark (almost black) underneath the white. When I first tried this treatment, I was afraid it would lighten the dark hair (I really want to keep my hair its natural color with the white and dark brown/black) and thankfully this treatment has never lightened the dark parts. It just whitens the white.
Hi Sally! My hair is much softer and shiny afterwards. I used it every week with no damage to my hair. I still use it but due to lack of time I use this recipe once a month instead of weekly. Even though my hair is no longer has any yellow in it, I still use it to keep my hair bright white plus it also removes buildup which is nice.
This treatment saved me from going back to hair dye. I’m glad I found it when I did because I found out later the lady who shared it deleted her blog 😢
Purple shampoos do not remove yellow. They mask it. Purples also create a build up on the hair which makes the yellowing worse. It is also very drying which makes hair more susceptible yellowing.
Ummmm….no. There are GREAT purple shampoos that do NOT dry your hair, you just need to not shop at walmart or Sallys🙄, Fanola no more Yellow (or no more orange depending on your base)Purple does NOT build up as the molecule size is far too large. Duncan, stay in school. You have no idea what you are talking about and that is hella bad “advice”.
You're Welcome! Let me know what you think after you try it. It's my favorite hair treatment-it not only removes the yellow but makes my hair feel extra soft.
It could have been rust or maybe the iron in the water. Our shower curtain was stained with the same rusty color. Please let me know what you think after you give it a try.
I tried this today as a test on some dark whispies at the nape of my neck. Nothing, no change at all. oh well. Update: I did use the mixture again the next day, and it actually did seem a little lighter to me, just a little. I was very surprised, I really didn't think it would work for me. Well, I tried it again the following week, and it didn't seem to do anything. Maybe because I used the leftover from the previous week, I don't know. I decided to try again in a couple of weeks and see what happens. Tomorrow is the day. In the meantime, though, I also got some purple shampoo (no propylene glycol! hard to find), which I used last week, and much to my surprise, that really seemed to lighten my hair quite a bit, even those dark whispies! There's still yellow in it, but it was overall brighter, shinier! So, I'm hoping between this mixture and the purple shampoo, it will lighten and remove more of the yellow. Guess I just need to keep trying, and hope to Heaven I don't wreck my hair totally in the process. I should say, though, that last week, my hair felt rather dry and frizzy right after I unwrapped my plop, so I think it may have been the new conditioner I bought at Sally's (the sales girl recommended it), and maybe even the spray serum I got contributed to it feeling/looking really dry and fruzzy, which it wasn't supposed to do. Silk drops serum helped with that, though. It's just that those serums have silicone products in them (dimethicone) as do many conditioners that claim to control frizz. But it's not good for already dry, curly hair, as per the Curly Girl directives, so I've avoided them for quite a while. They do help, though, so I'm going to keep using them for now. Making up a fresh batch right now and will post again after I see the results. Wish me luck! Oh yeah, a couple other things - I added a little more peroxide (maybe a cap full) to the mix to see if that would help lift out the yellow a little more, and used a spray bottle, and left it on for 40-45 minutes under a processing cap (same as when I used to color it). But it didn't seem to make a difference after all. I'm going to try it again that way tomorrow, though, and with the purple shampoo, I'll bet it will make a big difference.
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond Nope, it didn't work after all. I've pretty much given up on trying to lighten it anymore. I even returned the purple shampoo cuz I thought it was just too drying. I also cut about 4 inches off myself cuz the ends were just a mess and didn't look good at all. I also cut a bit off the very top layer which I shouldn't have done. Now it's just a bit shorter than I would have liked though the ends are much better. Found a different style I'd like my hair stylist to do, but no money right now for it. Been freaking out a little over hair loss, a couple of very sparse spots on the side and on top, so thinking cutting it back into shorter layers so it's not so heavy, would help with that, hence the new style.
Word of caution: if you still have dark brown or brown hair mixed with your gray, this will turn the brown hair orange!!!!! So, yes, your white hairs will be whiter….but you will have orange hairs mixed in!
Hi Lisa. I have been using this treatment for a long time and it has never turned my dark hair orange. I have dark hair underneath the white and it has stayed the same color. Make sure you are using 3% hydrogen peroxide-anything stronger than that could cause damage and turn dark hair a lighter color or turn it orange.
She starts with 3% hydrogen peroxide; that is the equivalent of 10 volume developer. She dilutes it with equal parts water and and conditioner, so she is now down to 1% hydrogen peroxide (hypothetically the equivalent 3 volume developer without bleach) Applying to damp hair would dilute it a bit further. Processing time is only 15-20 minutes. That seems unlikely to lift natural hair color.
I am so glad I watched your video!!! I am trying this since I have tried blue shampoo and vinegar and what ever!! still yellow. Apparently I dry my hair everyday and the heat turns it yellow!!! It takes forever to dry my hair so I am trying to let it air dry some what and not use so much heat! Oh also the sun will yellow your hair as well I have been told so I am trying your method as I am so disappointed at the yellowing and looking dull. My hair is as long as yours and I do not want to have short hair so looking for improvement. Thanks
I hope this recipe works for you! When I saw that my hair was turning yellow my heart sunk. like you, I tried several things to get rid of it but nothing was working. Then I found this and I was amazed at the results. I use it weekly now! Please let me know if it worked for you!
for me-diet medications health status all contribute-if i had been feeling very tired=yellow streaks here and there-dammn anti-hypertension medication=same.- most times it will clear up,grow out as i do trim it myself, & sometimes i look like those little doggies, think they are yorkies LOL You've seen them, they are predominantly silver, blonde and a beige toned and some put the tiny clips making their top knot LOL ===what i have done without any bad effects is lightly spritz some peroxide before shampooing-but only a few times a year. i have used clairol blue conditioner & when w/patience to leave it in for those 10 minutes,it definitely did bring out shimmering silver so the yellowing was less noticeable and another one out here on youtube recommended a toner goldwell colorance 10
Hello Geraldine! I felt the same way-I was really nervous about using hydrogen peroxide but I was willing to try anything to get rid of the yellow. This treatment worked really well and I haven’t had any damage to my hair from it. Maybe just try it on a small section of hair to test it out.
Love the video and the content - very helpful. Did you have any parts of your hair that looked a bit dingy instead of yellow? While I'm not yellow, my silver has gotten dingy-looking over the years. I wondered if the hydrogen peroxide formula would help. Thoughts? TIA
Hi Ziggysbookshop! Thank you! My hair was mostly yellow on the ends and dingy looking on the rest of my hair (I believe it was in the process of turning yellow all over). I still use this to keep my hair bright white otherwise it will look very dingy.
Thank you, Im surely going to try this, but will cut down on the Baking Soda, it will damage your hair after awhile now that you have the yellow out, I would cut down on the BS and push treatment to every other week. BS has a pH of 9.
There are other reasons for discolored hair. One is hard water. There is a hair softener sold in a shower head that has a filter to remove Particles in hard water. Amazon has a lot of choices. I’d do that before I’d ever use this method because a new shower head isn’t going to melt down my hair. Your hair isn’t the same as mine and neither of us is a bona fine chemist!
I posted a video(s) about other reasons for discolored hair and ways to prevent it. This particular video was created before I started using a shower head with a filter-I have been using one for years. With that said, I still use this hair treatment and my hair hasn’t melted off. It’s in great condition and way better than it was when I was dyeing my hair! ❤️ Yes, we are all different so what works for me may not work for you. I am really glad you found what works for you! ❤️
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond I’ve tried it…it does take several applications to get the yellow out…it took about 70% of the yellow but unfortunately not the yellow of the end (my hair is very long by the way) so it does work but I think you need to consistently keep on doing it
Tablespoon baking sofa and tablespoon shampoo, wash hair, then let it sit for three minutes. Rinse, then wash again with shampoo over, condition = done deal 🇨🇦
The top part of my hair is snow white (the area near the nape of my neck still has some color) and you are right. The very white area is what turns yellow but this treatment removed the staining. My issue was from well water. If your hair has turned yellow from the sun or from a burn from an appliance, this treatment won't work because a burn can not be removed. Once I removed the yellow, I started using a shower head with a water filter to keep my hair from turning yellow. I also have to do other things to protect my hair from yellowing such as wearing a hat when I go outside, covering my hair when they are burning the sugar cane down the street, etc.
Hi Mariabouldin! I wash my hair with shampoo then apply the treatment on my clean, damp, non conditioned hair.Afterward, I rinse the treatment out of my hair. I do not shampoo or condition since I already shampooed before I used the treatment and conditioner is added to the treatment-I don't want to over condition because it could weigh hair down.

Hi Ellen! I am so glad it's working for you!!!!
Thank you, Meg, for the helpful tip!!! ❤️
This works wonderfully! I highly recommend this. I also used my hands, to make sure it was all covered, then placed a zip lock bag over my head, and waited 20 minutes. This worked Execelently!!!!!! Many thanks to you!!
Hi Colleen! I am so glad this treatment helped you! ❤️
Thank you so much 💓 💗 💛 💖 ☺
Hi Mother of Cats!! Thank you so much for sharing and I am so glad it helped remove most of the dye!!
Hi Cathie! I am so glad this was helpful!!!
Ditto.
Thank you, Julie! I am growing my hair long to donate. I plan on cutting it soon and may get the haircut you described!
I wouldn’t use the mixed formula a week later. Hydrogen peroxide breaks down rapidly to water. Mix fresh each time.
Thanks for the tip, Epicmom!
I can still see a yellow hue, but it did get rid of almost all of it. I'd probably do it one or two more times.
Thank you for sharing. I'll try this - your hair is a shimmery shiny silver!
This may not work for everyone, but first try it worked for me, Thank you! The top of my hair is a pretty shiny white, but my hair styling is so much better when I flat iron it, and I needed a refresher solution for when it darkened and it worked 👍
Hi Pam! I am so glad it worked for you!!!
Hi Intro to Music. I really hope this helps. I also posted a video on a Vinegar Rinse that brightens gray- that may help.
Hi Heide! Sorry for the super late response (hadn't been on youtube for about a year until recently) but just wanted to Thank you for the tip!
Thank you! I met a lady, and the back of her long gray/white hair had yellowed. I wish I had known this,so I could help her.♡
I don’t know if she would appreciate you pointing that out lol. Even if you have good intentions, she might have been self conscious
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond I do have a sediment filter and water softener. Thanks again.
Great advice. I've been struggling with this for a while. Thank you so much.
Hello Dandoline! I hope this hair mask helped!
WONDERFUL! Thanks I tried this and results were amazing.
Just starting my gray journey ( bout 3 months in) and I’ve been watching many “going gray” videos for inspiration. Glad i found this one so if i do encounter yellowing i can use your remedies and not be tempted to jump back on the dyeing train. Thanks!!
Hi M Mac! I'm glad you found it too! This treatment saved me from going back to the hair dye!! It's the best, IMO!
I'm so glad I found this. My ends are doing the same thing!
My also! I do have hard water thinking that may have caused it. It’s just on my ends. I’m going to try this.
Water, hydrogen peroxide, cheap shampoos and a few drops of Dawn unscented dish detergent. I have white/silver/grey hair.
Hi Aqua Aura, Thank you so much for sharing. I never thought of adding Dawn dish detergent. I will have to give it a try sometime!
Why add the Dawn?
This may even be a solution for bleached hair too that has light yellow Gonna try it 💛
Hi Mary! Let me know if works!
I just found this and am happy to try this myself. I hope my yellow goes away!!!!! Thank you!
Hi KC! I hope this treatment worked for you! It may take a few tries like it did for me. Good Luck! Your hair and makeup are absolutely gorgeous!
Your hair looks beautiful! What a great video! Thanks!
Thank you so much! 😘 ❤️
All I can say "WOW"
Amazing. Great job on the video. With my super short hair I don't see yellow, but will keep this in mind for the future. Maybe a wide tooth comb would be good for application.
Hi Joyce! Hopefully you won't have to deal with yellow hair but if you do, definitely try this mixture. It really works!
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond i will! Thank you so much!

Thank you for this, last night i kept looking at my hair thinking it looked really yellow. I am going to try this
Let me know how it went!!
There's a noticeable difference. I'm there, I want tge yellow out. 👍
Hi No Kiddin! This is my favorite treatment. I hope it worked as well for you as it does for me.
I found I have to use purple shampoo for gray hair and a purple conditioner. I was told by my hair stylist that the wax in the previous hair products held oil and dirt to my hair. Idk if that helpful. I'm glad that the hair treatment is working for you.
Thank you sooo much!
im doing this now i hope it helps i have been going grey for over 3 years and i have no more box color in my hair and its got some of my reg, dark brown almost black color in it kinda like salt and pepper but i play golf and my hair turns a yellow orange color on the tips and in the back so i hope this helps i dont want to go have it done bec, i dont want them to use a full bleach on it i know peroxide is a light bleach bec, back in the 80's we use to use it in highschool ( that just made me feel old ) lol but we would use peroxide and blowdry kinda like sun in .. so thank you for this video
Did this treatment help your hair and remove the yellow-orange?
@@traceychiang909 it did BUT it also kinda bleached out my black hair not something i would do again
I have been looking for something to remove the yellow from my quite silver hair. I am going to be trying this. I did see your video regarding the use of ACV and will probably use that after I get the yellow removed with this peroxide recipe =) Thank you!!
You're Welcome! ♥️
Thank you! I can't wait to try this method!
Looks beautiful. Your hair is soft not course what products did you use a special conditioner❤️
Exposure to sunlight and chlorine can also cause yellowing.
Very interesting and you explain it quite thoroughly so thank you!!! I just washed and conditioned my hair but I'll try this in 4 days. If i can wait that long! Lol
Thank you, Pam!
You look great with hair color!
Thank you so much
You are so brave! Thank you for doing this experiment for us. I am going to do this
Thank you! I love trying DIY treatments and sharing the results. I am letting my hair grow out so I can donate it so I am waiting until I cut it to try more treatments. I am almost at the length I need to be able to donate. Once I do, I will be testing out more hair treatments. Thank you for your support and for watching!
I was told my hair is yellowing because of the heat in my curling iron. Do you think this will work for heat damage?
I've never used it on heat damaged hair so I honestly don't know. My hair turned yellow because we used well water which stained my hair. You can try it on a patch of hair to see if it will work. It may take a few tries to get results. If you try it, Please let me know if it worked. I don't apply heat to my hair anymore (I haven't used heat in at least a year) so I can't test it.
Looks like it works better than purple shampoo Gonna try this I'm looking into methods on much cheaper than hairdresser
Give it a try and let me know what you think! This is my favorite hair treatment to keep my hair bright white. It works REALLY well!
God this is making me cry 😢
Ok by the end your hair looks much lighter 😅.
Did you color the natural dark hair underneath as well and if so did it change color?
I apply the treatment all over including the dark area and it has never changed/lightened it.
Amazing results. I would love to try it... Thank you!
I heard the sun, pollution and a yellow shampoo/conditioner causes white hair to turn yellow
Thank you so much for posting this. Will definitely try it.
Wow nice I have to try this on my silver hair. Thank you. What type of conditioner did you use.
I think i saw Tresseme on bottle.
Thanks!!! Gonna try it, had it with this ugly yellow not matching my white!
Hi SaltLifeGull! Let me know if it helps!
Mineral build up from hard water can cause yellow hair. Have you tried a demineralizing shampoo?
I have never heard of demineralizing shampoo. I'll read about it later tonight! Is there a brand you recommend? I get so overwhelmed with all the products out there.
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond Here is a link to really good brand. I have not used this yet, but I will be. If your hair is yellowing from hard water, then you should use this regularly, maybe once a week.
malibuc.com/products/hard-water-wellness-shampoo?variant=31714228699199
Also, the sun can yellow your hair. If you spend time outside, consider wearing a wide brim hat to cover your hair.
I love in a hard water area, my hair has grown out from dark hair to Silver. ! No yellow so far been 9 months now ,I just use a colour protect shampoo and conditioner x🇬🇧
Thank you, that is something that I have struggle with and I did not know what to do. Do you use any purple shampoos?
Never mind, I re-watched the video and I heard that you do use purple shampoo.
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond thank you for the shower head info as well! Ironically we are redoing the bathroom and will be sure to put this in!
You're Welcome! I think you will really like this one! I can't live without mine!
Hi Adry! I'm glad it worked for you!
Thank you. Well done video. I’m going to try this.
Thank you! ❤️
Thanks for your post. I just saw it. Can I use the mixture also on salt & pepper hair?
Hello Beatrice! Yes, it will work on salt and pepper hair. My hair is very dark (almost black) underneath the white. When I first tried this treatment, I was afraid it would lighten the dark hair (I really want to keep my hair its natural color with the white and dark brown/black) and thankfully this treatment has never lightened the dark parts. It just whitens the white.
Very useful info'. Did your hair remain in good condition afterwards? Did you have any unwanted effects as time went on? Thanks
Thank you, will be trying tonight!!
Omg this is so exciting!!! My hair is similar to yours!!! I’m starting to see yellowing too!
I saved this too!!
This treatment saved me from going back to hair dye. I’m glad I found it when I did because I found out later the lady who shared it deleted her blog 😢
I'll be doing this tomorrow. Many thanks!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you soooo
much I'm trying this!!

Thank you so much I hate yellow I was looking for someone using this mix your the first I found all the others use shampoo which I don't want
This treatment is what got rid of my hard to remove yellow. I hope this treatment helped you ❤️
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond
Yup it works
I'm wondering if the yellowing is actually rust from the water. Or if that's a different color orangish color. I'm going to try this as well
It could have been rust or maybe the iron in the water. Our shower curtain was stained with the same rusty color. Please let me know what you think after you give it a try.
Would this work if you got some level of green in your gray white hair
Hi PJWhite! Did it work? It may take a few tries like it did for me.
The link does not work anymore. Thanks for the video and sharing.
😱
I am so glad I watched your video!!! I am trying this since I have tried blue shampoo and vinegar and what ever!! still yellow. Apparently I dry my hair everyday and the heat turns it yellow!!! It takes forever to dry my hair so I am trying to let it air dry some what and not use so much heat! Oh also the sun will yellow your hair as well I have been told so I am trying your method as I am so disappointed at the yellowing and looking dull. My hair is as long as yours and I do not want to have short hair so looking for improvement. Thanks

for me-diet medications health status all contribute-if i had been feeling very tired=yellow streaks here and there-dammn anti-hypertension medication=same.- most times it will clear up,grow out as i do trim it myself, & sometimes i look like those little doggies, think they are yorkies LOL You've seen them, they are predominantly silver, blonde and a beige toned and some put the tiny clips making their top knot LOL ===what i have done without any bad effects is lightly spritz some peroxide before shampooing-but only a few times a year. i have used clairol blue conditioner & when w/patience to leave it in for those 10 minutes,it definitely did bring out shimmering silver so the yellowing was less noticeable and another one out here on youtube recommended a toner goldwell colorance 10
Have you tried using a microfiber towel to remove as much water as possible before drying your hair? It might shorten the drying time.
I am scared of the hydrogen peroxide but we will see. it looks legit.
Hello Geraldine! I felt the same way-I was really nervous about using hydrogen peroxide but I was willing to try anything to get rid of the yellow. This treatment worked really well and I haven’t had any damage to my hair from it. Maybe just try it on a small section of hair to test it out.

Why does the hair turn yellow? I assume it must be the chemical compounds or metals in shower water.
Thank you, Im surely going to try this, but will cut down on the Baking Soda, it will damage your hair after awhile now that you have the yellow out, I would cut down on the BS and push treatment to every other week. BS has a pH of 9.
Hi Pamela! I hope it this hair treatment helped!

You. Are just nice and not pushy.❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much ❤️
There are other reasons for discolored hair.
Yes, we are all different so what works for me may not work for you. I am really glad you found what works for you! ❤️

Please let me know how you liked or didn’t like it! Hopefully this worked for you.
@@GrayHairTransitionandBeyond I’ve tried it…it does take several applications to get the yellow out…it took about 70% of the yellow but unfortunately not the yellow of the end
(my hair is very long by the way) so it does work but I think you need to consistently keep on doing it
Tablespoon baking sofa and tablespoon shampoo, wash hair, then let it sit for three minutes. Rinse, then wash again with shampoo over, condition = done deal 🇨🇦
It worked in one try, thank you soooooo much 💕
I am so glad it helped!!!! ❤️
Try having snow white hair turns yellow
The top part of my hair is snow white (the area near the nape of my neck still has some color) and you are right. The very white area is what turns yellow but this treatment removed the staining. My issue was from well water. If your hair has turned yellow from the sun or from a burn from an appliance, this treatment won't work because a burn can not be removed. Once I removed the yellow, I started using a shower head with a water filter to keep my hair from turning yellow. I also have to do other things to protect my hair from yellowing such as wearing a hat when I go outside, covering my hair when they are burning the sugar cane down the street, etc.
Very pretty !!!
I would like to try it.thank you
Please let me know how it went when you give it a try.
Thank you! Thank you! ❤❤

Dose your hair need to be clean and wash do you wash your hair after
Hi Mariabouldin!
Hi I checked the link and it's no longer there, is there anywhere else I can find it?
