Kérastase and purple. What a great surprise this was for me! The Kérastase blond absolu shampoo and mask (violet version) leave my hair soft, silver toned, with the white glowing! Love it!

It’s expensive, but Pravana purple shampoo and conditioner is my holy grail. No sulfates or silicones, deep purple, leaves my silver extra sparkly and my hair very soft & shiny. I wash my hair 2x/week, and use the purple stuff once or twice a month.
The Rita Hazan gloss sounds interesting, too.

I used purple shampoo 50 years ago when my hair was streaked.
But now with grey hair, I prefer KLORANE anti-yellowing shampoo with Centaury.
It does not colour my hair but makes my hair glisten❣️
My favorite purple shampoo is Fanola No Yellow (Italy). It smells wonderful. I use a dab with regular shampoo for a tint or full strength for more lavender color. My hair is 99% white.
Love the content that you share. Finally stopped washing my hair every day, but is it still damaging/creating brassiness by wetting and blowing out daily? Can't seem to eradicate some of the brass. Thank you!
I love this information - I have a good purple shampoo which I alternate withe the Pantene rose collection you feature - I use the mask in between shampoos. But I have been looking for a shining product and so I will look for the John Frieda glaze. I am also excited that Pantene has a purple shampoo. I am in Canada so it has not appeared on shelves yet, but I will look for it when I run out - my salon brand is a bit pricey. Thank you for a much anticipated video. My fav is Fanola no yellow and their conditioner. Smells like cupcake batter and leaves my hair so soft. Use it every 2 weeks and Hask hydrating line for my regular shampoo days. Going to give their blue shampoo a try. TY

You can also get this stuff called IGK Mixed Feelings Leave-in Blonde Toning drops and turn most of your favs into purple shampoos and conditioners. I even made my Olaplex into purples.
I thought about doing this myself as I have a bunch of products that aren't purple that I love. I also prefer moisturizer masks over purple shampoo. I use clarifying shampoo because of hard water and all the products I have to use in my hair.

Hey everyone. FYI: after this video, I really wanted to find a purple shampoo. I was about to buy the Pantene shampoo featured and then I changed my mind when I saw this one: another purple (deep, deep purple) shampoo/conditioner that is awesome. It's "Majestic Pure" shampoo/conditioner...it works wonderfully and the conditioner is a lighter purple (a lilac purple) that also does a great job for me. Both I got on Amazon..not expensive at all, in fact, I purchased both as a set. I am glad I bought it.
I can't wait to try the John Frieda product. I have found that the purple shampoos cause a scalp dandruff on me, so I just use them on the actual hair. I did discover Maison 276 products which brighten without purple dyes, for those who might have a sensitivity or allergy.

I been working on making a Purple Conditioner (natural) as I use all natural shampoos. I found a recipe on line just haven’t made it to the health food store as it uses a dried purple flower. For those low on funds Marshals always has options.

I tried velcro rollers many years ago and the one thing I didn't like, but was most important for me especially, was that velcro tends to pull the hair out. The velcro sticks to your hair and if your hair is fine, like mine is, it can be a problem so I don't use them.

Hi Nikol, thanks for helping me with my naturally grey hair care. Is there a purple shampoo that is rich, moisturizing, sulfate/paraben/bad-stuff free and which also offers UV protection?
I use the MoroccanOil Purple shampoo and the Kendra Purple conditioner. Both are very pigmented. For shine, I use BioSilk Leave-In Lite Shine. Love these products.

I use Clairol Shimmer lights. I put it on my hair dry and leave it for 20 minutes. Then just wet it and suds it up. It makes my bleached hair a beautiful silver blonde. Twice a week.
Will a clarifying shampoo do the same thing? I am allergic to purple dye so I can’t use that but need something to brighten my gray.

I enjoy and appreciate your videos. You have a down to earth approach to ‘beauty maintenance’ and are a friendly and knowledgeable host. I stopped coloring my hair in 2017 and am pleased with the look of my silver/gray hair. I’ve never thought about using products for brassiness, yellowing, etc. but am now interested after seeing this video. Can products labeled for blonde brassiness be used for silver/gray hair?

The purple shampoos did not take care of my brassyness. I ordered from Amazon a great shampoo, Klorane. It is a white shampoo and works better than all the purple ones I’ve tried. Thanks for sharing.
I have the Klorane Anti-Yellowing Shampoo, too! It's white, so for sure there is no tint left behind.
Interesting I bought the Klorane last year and it dried out my hair. I never went back to it because I didn’t like how my hair felt at all after using it.
Thank you for this, I’ve just ordered the Klorane white shampoo for my silver hair. I’ve been using purple shampoo for years now, and recently it has stained the tile grout in our new shower, my husband not happy 😢

If you put the inexpensive purple on your dry hair, then putz around before you shower; it works like tint. SUPER EASY.

Phyto used to have shampoo for "aging hair" which was fantastic. Of course, it was discontinued. I loved the metal containers.

I have a collection of purple shampoos at all price points. I really love the L’Oréal Ever Pure its sulfate free so I can use it everyday and it doesn’t dry out my hair

@@srkh8966 it doesn’t make it purple but it can get dark silver so I now only use it once or twice a week and use a hydrating shampoo in between
Purple shampoos darken my gray which I dont like and I mix a little with my regular shampoo,, so each person hair different.

I took your advice and bought one of your recommended Purple shampoos and I can see a pretty big change. I used to be shampooing only once a week cause of dry hair and I am wondering how often I would need to use a purple shampoo to keep my grey hair looking good?

I prefer blue over purple, I feel like it's more brightening than purple on my hair.
I have fine collarbone length white hair and tried the L'oreal 8 second wonder water and LOVED it however the fragrance is so awful I will never use it again. Wish is was unscented because it made my hair beautiful and did not weigh it down but my lungs cannot tolerate it.

Have you tried Fanola? My Holy Grail is the No Orange but others swear by the No Yellow formula.

I’ve been using the L’Oreal everpure purple shampoo and conditioner. My hairdresser toned it which helped a little bit, but I actually think my white hair is getting yellower now. I am in the sun a few hours every morning and try to wear a hat. I really don’t know what to try next.
Thanks Nikol. You always look gorgeous. Do you use your purple shampoo every time you wash your hair? When I use mine (once a week) my grey hair seems to 'grab' the purple and I end up with a strong purple tinge which is not what I am after. Any suggestions please? Thanks!
How long do you keep the shampoo on ?
I use Joico and love it but I'm going to give some of these a try as well. I only shampoo with purple shampoo every 9 days-use Morocco Argan Oil on the other shampoo days.
I use Joico purple, too, but want to try something else.

Half of my hair is white, half is still my natural vibrant red. The purple shampoos and conditioners I've tried have not done much to curb the brassiness I get on my white hair. I do hesitate to buy the (expensive) highly pigmented stuff because I have heard so many horror stories about purple shampoo staining red hair...
I hate the brassiness of my white but I don't want to tint the red I still have!
I have curly hair that is naturally dry and prone to breakage, so any colour that gets in, stays!

Is there really a difference between purple and blue shampoos? I read somewhere that blue shampoo is recommended for brunettes that have gray hair coming in.
Living Proof also has a purple line that includes shampoo, conditioner, and a styling foam.

It's 3+ years since Nikol posted this video; anyway, I have been trying to find a replacement to my JOICO "Blonde Life" Brilliant Tone Violet Smoothing Foam - because I can only find it at one beauty supply store (not close to home) + the bottle / can always stops working even though it's still half full! Anyway, not sure if you will see my reply - but I will look into "Living Proof" - do you live in the U.S.? I'm in California. Does the styling foam have a purple or violet tint to it (I'm hoping so - 😉). Okay - in the meantime, I'll see if I can find any info online about this brand. Thanks for this tip - I came to watch Nikol's video to see if she might discuss purple or violet (leave-in) mouses ... 💜💜💜
@@ShellyBomb Yes…I’m familiar with both. I have a sample of Living Proof purple foam and it works great. Problem is I think they stopped making it. I also used to use the original Phyto purple shampoo in place of a toner that I used for years when bleaching my hair platinum. It took out every bit of yellow, but they changed the formula and I stopped the bleach.
I picked up another brand’s purple shampoo, purple hair mask (that looks too purple) and conditioning purple foam, but I haven’t yet tried them out. The brand is Fanola and they sell it on Amazon…or did anyway. I haven’t had to check again.

My hair is 90% silver -white and I use purple shampoo once a week. With so much white hair, I need purple shampoo that frequently.

Yes absolutely I started using purple shampoo on my gray stripe 10 years ago when I still had dyed hair!!! Whatever it takes to make even one gray strand bright lol 😘

Along my hairline after using the Violet shampoo for some time, little violet spots started to appear. The dermatologist told me to through away the shampoo AND never use It again!!

I love Milk Shake Purple too. I'm white and it really brightens my hair and prevents the yellow tinge. I do need to use the conditioner too as my hair is quite dry and frizzy without it.

I was just at Ulta & Target - and - nothing! I have used & loved the JOICO one called "Blonde Life" - Brillant Tone Violet Smoothing Foam, but it often has to be ordered by a beauty supply store not close to my house; and, I don't really mind - but was hoping for some other options. However, every JOICO bottle (can) I've purchased the dispenser stops working & frustratingly the bottle is still half full - but I can't get the product out! Sorry this is so long-winded 🫡 - but do you know of any brands & where to purchase them perhaps? Okay - thank you in advance (but probably doubtful you'll see this comment 😉). I’m having the worst time with purple shampoos . It dries my hair sooooo bad, even when I mix it with a moisturizing regular shampoo . My ends turn white and hard and I have to snip a bunch of them off . I’m having the unfortunate effects of going gray quickly and suddenly after a major surgery . And to add to the effect my bangs are now growing in red … I guess it’s my hair losing its melanin and fading g to its undertone before it goes grey … so I have silver on the sides , red in the front , and my natural dark blonde /brown in the back 😭

My purple shampoo and conditioner keeps people saying my hair is a nice grey, silvery. And it is, no yellowing for me, and it's been grey for about 15 years now.

If you pay attention a lot of older women with longer white hair have spots of yellow which is not blonde.
After using my awesome purple shampoo, my white and silver hair is beautiful! I like to use products for styling purposes. Still great color! I don’t normally use hairspray but if I do , this is when I see the blonde.
