LoL. I hear you about the "old lady knees". Add a gimpy back. I need to make a cozy pile of these as lap quilts for myself: Double-sided and thermal batting-filled with cotton quilt panels and bound edges. The weather here is miserable year-round, so they'll be put to good use. Joann usually has great fleece sales after Christmas, expensive anti-pill types included. Homemade gifts are great, as long as they don't look homemade.
@@quiltroadies1695 today they hand crocheted blankets. It’s amazing to watch them…one is meticulous the other just wants it done and they both come out awesome. Now, if only grandma and granty would stop offering advice…lol
Thank you. You helped me so much! I did start off wrong, but it will be alright now. I wish I watched your video first. This one I’ll keep. The next one will be my 4 year old grandson. I will call the first one my practice one.😁👏🏽👏🏽
I talked to a lady in line at joanns that was making a lot of these for donations. She said they used big tables at a church and they had a wooden template that they laid on top of both pieces of fabric and then used electric scissors to cut around the template. That sure would be a great way to make them fast.
I always have made something homemade for my children and family. Then of course add some store bought items for fun. Thanks Anna. I love your teaching tutorials.
I have made these throw with my grandkids and then they each took one home. It was a wonderful project to do together!! They are so warm and they loved them!!
Thank you so much for this tutorial, it is super quick! I love the fabrics you chose. I can hear the squeals of joy when your little grandchild opens this!!
@@quiltroadies1695 yes such a relaxing project to do I am sure. I will definitely make them for my tribe of grandchildren. Winter has come early to Ireland with low temperatures and driving icy rain for 10 days now but it does not get near as cold as it does in your part of the world. It us 1°C here right now. Thanks so much Hannah. Susan
Yes i had to put mine on the floor on top of a plastic table cloth it was a big blanket.. I had the edges sewed no long tassels or even short ones, my oldest daughter & i made it for my youngest daughter . We were constantly trying to keep it smooth & even.
I love the roll cutter, but I don't have a table or a mat , I use the floor & a plastic table cloth under the fleece, so it doesn't stick to the rug. Thanks for your help and teaching
I make these for friends and family each year. One year I went on s retreat and had no ruler to measure. I used a CD case to measure out corners and then used 2 finger widths to cut the strips. Not ideal, but I made 3 that weekend! Happy quilting!
I was just watching Rob Appells new youtube channel "Making it fun" . He came across a customer who RVs around the states and she told him she's apart of a face book group that does the same as you. travel to different places and visits different quilt shops. they network different quilt shops and tell each other about it. I thought of you soon as I heard that. lol..
So glad you reminded me of a huge project I need to get ready! It's of lab puppies, my loves, after my Sadie, and it's cold already, I'd rather put another blankie on my bed then sleep with the heater on! I end up so hot, lol. It's so relaxing watching you! Uh me with yards of this material makes me exhausted, LOL. But the rewards are so warm and get better every wash and fluff dry! Christmas is almost here.
Looks purple to me Anna! Suggest to the recipient when washing it to alleviate pilling, make sure you never wash it with towels. Second, never make the mistake of washing with something that might have an old tissue in a pocket and always hang to dry. Washing in this way is really helpful in keeping pills to a minimum.
We have three granddaughters, and I think I will make each of them one to add to their Christmas gifts. Thankyou Anna😘 It is so relaxing to watch and listen to you. Cheers from the beautiful Mornington Peninsula in Australia.
Thank you for this tutorial, Anna! I am definitely going to try to make these for my grandchildren. Today I started making Christmas pillow cases from your Halloween tutorial, and I am having so much fun making a few Christmas gifts for them. Next I’m trying your fleece blanket. Thank you , again Anna, for taking the time to create these videos for our viewing pleasure. xo. Barbara in Florida
This was a relaxing treat. You are always so calming. I needed it. Thanks for the tutorial. I may have to make one. We all love you right back. ❤ even tho we've never met i feel like we are friends. You are so dear to us all.
Because fleece is not always the same width, or are cut different at the store, I layer both pieces of fleece (wrong sides together)at one selvage, then trim with the rotary cutter to make them the same size. Then, I can just start cutting the fringe without the extra steps .
Thankyou for the tutorial Anna...I’ve always wanted to try one..love the mermaids....one of my ..things....like bees n acorns....good job..you made it fun🙋🏼♀️🌻🐝
Hi Anna, this blanket is so cute! ❤ I use a gadget called a sweater shaver (mine is a sunbeam brand) to shave pills off blankets and of course sweaters. It is battery operated and inexpensive.
@@quiltroadies1695 amazing my 16 yr daughter started these during quarantine, but what is the name of the ruler with slits in to make the 5” slits to tie. That gadget would cut her time in half. Also I fu have a store name to buy it at , it would be much appreciated Thanks you amazing video - best one yet
I have made one like this, but now I sew them with right sides together and leave an opening to turn and I round the corners. After I turn it right side out I hand sew the opening closed and then I top stitch it.
You are too funny Aa]nna, I thought you cut that corner a bit large but of course I thought I was mistaken because of the angle I was looking at. Good for you to fessing up. The little mermaid recipient is going to adore her warm cozy blanket from you.
Hi Anna ...a fun blankey..I think I’ll make some for my grandies for winter. ( spring here) Hope I can find the mermaid fleece or even unicorn would be a hit. I’ve just finished making Xmas stocking for some new additions in the family...every year I say it’s the last year but then I get the request..plus you can’t have one child hanging their lovely Xmas stocking with their name embroidered on it and not the latest addition😂
I tried to make my first one a baby blanket & I wanted it to be so nice for my friends coming Granddaughter. Unfortunately I got a really cute Pattern, but I realized that it only goes one way, llamas , are all upright so if you turn it around a different way it doesn't look right.better to get a print that looks nice no matter which way you turn it. I spent a lot of money on it all, Special Sharp Scissors, pins . The Scissors were almost 50 $
Thank you much. My 16-year-old daughter started doing these for the holidays during quarantine. What is the name of the ruler That you use to make the 5 inch slits with. We have been cutting by hand. I can’t find that anywhere and that would cut her time in half if I can get the name and also if you know a store that sells them that would be great. Best fleece blanket video yet thank you

Anna.this came at a great time , last weekend when we were stitching, my daughter in law ask me to make her these fleece blankets. Thankyou
perfect!!

What do you think?
Oh! and once the fringe is cut, I tie that length of fringe before I move the blanket - then they don't get tangled.
you are one smart cookie!
Oh,man! It was really off, needing to trim. I hope mine will turn out. I wish I had your clear cutting piece.

no need to quilt it, LOL
I used 2 inches, since it's a small blanket, I didn't want to make it smaller with the deep Fringe.
Do the knots Come out on the Was machine ?
Nope they get tighter😁
