Made each of my three grandchildren 30" long crocodile stuffed animals using Minky, top and bottom. The stretching, slipping and shedding was so frustrating. Because that wasn't enough punishment and I over estimated the amount of Minky to purchase so had a lot left over and wanted it out of my home, I then also made three blankets for them. By the time I got to the blankets, I think I pinned every 1/4 to 1/2 inch and it was still, shall we say, challenging. Promised myself I never, ever had to sew with Minky again. If only I had known this 10-12 years ago! I hope everyone who wants to sew with Mindy sees this video. Excellent.
Wow. That's why I don't use the minky fabrics. But you've changed my mind. I'm going to make a pretty baby blanket like yours. So glad I watched your video!!

2 weeks later and I am still finding minky (cuddle) dust bunnies everywhere after finally finishing an overdue valentine quilt for my great-granddaughter. If only I had seen this sooner, but my next project will not be filled with such dread. She loves everything soft and cuddly, like the little princess that she is! You are a rockstar!
Thank you so much for your comments!🤗🩷 Yes, I have been there cleaning up all those minky dust bunnies until this hack! 😍 Congratulations on your great granddaughter!🩷🌸 Happy sewing her next minky quilt!🤗🩷 Thank you for watching my video!🤗🩷
Tip for sewing openings: instead of starting on the seam, start at the edge of the fabric, sew a few stitches to the seam, pivot, then sew around the object. When you get to the other side of the opening, pivot and sew to the edge. After turning, this helps the seam to turn under. It will look like this: __________________| |_____________________. Hope this helps
When I saw your video, I said no way no how does this really work. Well, not only does it work, it is the most GENIUS thing I have seen. I watch the full video, then I proceeded to make my adult son a blanket, using 2.5 yards of fabric for top and bottom. Trimmed and cut as you said to do and then smoothed it out and smoothed again. Then out came the Press N Seal. Beginning to end 3 hours. You are a genius and I cannot thank you enough for sharing this hack with us. Genius. Genius. I will never go back to tying those blankets.
Thank you so much for your sweet comments!!! 🥰🩷 I’m so happy my video is helpful to you! Thank you so much for letting me know how much this hack helped you! Your comments really brightened my day!!! 🥰Have a sew blessed day!🤗🩷🌸

First off, I stumbled on this video and watched to listen to the sewing machine hum. You are just a delight to watch! So cute. I’ve been sewing for 56 years and sometimes just want to hear the sewing machine hum. Bonus that I learned a new trick. Thank you.
Awwwwwwww Thank you so much Shawn! That is so sweet! You actually reminded me of a sweet memory of waking up early Saturday mornings as a child hearing my moms sewing machine humming down the hall. I love that sound too!!! Wow you must have a lot of sewing knowledge sewing for 56 years wow!!! Thank you so much for watching my videos I really appreciate it so much!🤗💗 Thank you for your sweet comments they made my day!🥰💗

Thank you so much Becky! Yes, this hack has made sewing Minky SOOOO MUCH EASIER! Thank you I can’t wait to give this to my daughter-in-law and be able to hold my granddaughter in it after she is born! 😍💗👶🏼💗Thank you for watching!🙏💗🤗
Truly amazing! 🤩 Thank you so much for this life-changing hack, Robyn! Now I can use the minky that’s been languishing in my stash for next to forever. 😂
Bravo!!👏 I can’t wait to try this! I’d given up the frustration of sewing with Minky many years ago. But I will be a first time grandma soon, so minky is a must. I wish I hadn’t already cut the one I’m making. Just trying to pin it is exasperating! Hmmm…it just occurred to me that I can just cut down the size of my flannel to make your technique work. I’m so excited! Thank you SO much! All the best!
i'm a bit vertically challenged, lol. so I made a seatbelt cover with minky because it's so soft, and while i follow the directions on HOW to make it exactly i maaay have added a thicker batting. which actually made it just a tad small, still quite usable. But the fact that this minky had me in tears for such a small project has stopped me from remaking it and had me put it up on a shelf. It's been on this shelf for so long in fact that bc i'm in the middle of remodeling my sewing/craft room i was thinking of just cutting it down into tiny little pieces to use as stuffing for the dog beds i make (with all my excess cut away scraps that are too small to do anything with) that i donate to my local vet's office. you gave me the courage to at least give it a go again! If that works, i'll give a go at making matching blankets for my granddaughter (she's 2yrs old ) and her " baby "
Awwwww Mary that’s so nice you make dog beds and stuff them with your scraps and donate them to your vet! What a blessing you are!💗 I’m so glad your going to give Minky a try again! Your granddaughter and her baby doll will love it! It’s my grandchildren’s favorite blanket! 🤗💗 Thank you so much for watching!🤗💗
I have never seen such a clever sewing hack! I have three different minkys and have had them for several years because I couldn't get the darn stuff to not stretch out of shape I just put them away. I can now joyfully get them out and make some long over due blankets! I'm so happy to have chanced upon your channel!😊
Thats so awesome! Please tag me on instagram with a photo of your blanket if you want to. I would love to see it!🤗 Thank you for your sweet comment!🥰🩷🌸
Excellent video, thank you Robyn! Love all the tips for using a 90/14 stretch needle, 3.5 stitch length & hemostat (nurse here). I love minky but don't sew with it much because of the stretch, mess & need for a zillion pins. Love your blankets. Can't wait to try this!
Oh my goodness! This is probably one of the best hacks ever 😊. I love making blankets for my kids but I have such a horrible time pinning them together that now I dread making them lol 😆. I am 100% gonna try this out for my next one.
This is amazing! I just tried my first item using minky and have been ripping the seams out to redo it. The fabric shifted and stretched, ruining everything. I stumbled across your video by accident and I’m so happy I did!! Thank you so much!!
Brilliant. Love new uses for common things; rather than new products. Love the feel of minky, but never tried to sew it. I can't help but to think how nice a kirtle (fit and flare long sleeve dress) would feel made out of minky. How nice to lounge in on a cold night! Thank you, you have given me courage!
I make quilts & back them with minky but I bind them. I typically use temporary spray glue in between so it doesn't move. I love the press & seal as an addition to what I already do. Thank you 😀
Robyn, Thank You, so much for this tip! At my age, I wasn't even aware that "Press n Seal" existed! So you can imagine how it feels to learn from you while I'm in the middle of making winter hats ❣️ I subscribed because I am certain you have more thoughtful & genius strategies to share with All of your viewers 👍💝

Awesome hack. I have a quilt top that I bought minki for,but I wasn't sure how to keep it from shifting. I knew I would use my walking foot, but was stumped at that point. This makes so much sense. Added you to my subscriptions. Thank you so much. My husband is in a nursing home and will love it.
WOW! thank you so much for sharing your minky hack. I have been too scared to sew minky due to no knowledge of how and what to do. Now, thanks to you, I can get utilize my rolls of minky into baby blankies.
Thank you so much for this video!! I made a minky self binding blanket for my son last year… it was kind of hard. Just bought some more minky for a blanket for my niece. SO GLAD I found your video!! It will make it so much easier to sew!! Gotta get some Press n Seal now!! 😊
Thanks for sharing this method of sewing with Minky fabric. I want to make some throw quilts for my four grandchildren, but wondered if I could back them with fleece or Minky instead of regular woven cotton fabric. Now I know I can, and it should be easy if I use your tips.
I am helping my friend make a baby quilt with minky...... This hack using Press N Seal as a stablizer is sooooooo HELPFUL!!!!!!! I have watched many youtube videos for minky, but this has been the BEST idea EVER....... Thank You
So grateful for this tutorial! I am quilter and tried money fabric just once, too slippery to work with. Now I'll use this method so I can use this soft fabric on more quilts. Thank you for sharing and have blessed day!
I haven’t used Minky because of the stretch and slipperiness of it, but I’m encouraged to try now. Thanks for the tip sheet, that’s great info! New subscriber today.
Thank you so much! I actually have already bought the same exact flannel you used and was debating to use Minky as the second fabric. I was a little nervous since it stretches but am going to make one for my grand daughter which will look like yours It is beautiful. Hope your new baby enjoys it too.
Hi Vanessa, Thank you so much, yes isn’t that floral flannel gorgeous! If you use Minky for the other side using the press N seal will make it soooo much easier to sew. Congratulations on your grand daughter! Thank you so much for watching and for your sweet comments!🥰💗
It's about to be my first time making a minky baby blanket, and you just took this to a different top level !!!!❤❤❤❤ I'm definitely subscribing to your channel and following the steps . Thank you so much !!!
That was flat amazing!!! I have Press & Seal in my kitchen drawer but don’t really like it. Now I’ll move it to my sewing room and actually use it lol. Thanks so much for the tutorial!
Awwww thank you Sherry! The first time I sewed with minky was awful too! This hack makes it Soooo much easier!!! Let me know if you try this hack! So glad you liked this! Thank you so much for watching!🤗💗🧵🪡
I’m with you! I’m cleaning out my craft/sewing room and came across a ton of kinky fabric I forgot I had. I had about decided to donate it. Now I’m definitely keeping it! I keep editing this because the further I go into the video, I think of another idea. You could make an sensory blanket and keep the press in seal on the edges before turning it. For older babies they would love the crinkly sound it make. Unless it dissolves in the wash. I’ll have to try this!
This is my all-time favorite hack!! I have a crippled left hand/arm, this hack serves as my "accomodation". Also, I have lymohedema in my left hand/arm (cancer treatment) so using needles isn't good for me, so this hack is just what I need!! Thank you for sharing. God bless!
Hello @Birdsnest65, Thank you so much!!! 🥰🩷I’m so happy this hack is helping to make sewing easier for you! I’m so sorry you have gone through so much, but you haven’t let it stop you from sewing! God bless you!!! Happy sewing! 🩷🙏(((hugs)))🙏🩷

This is such a clever idea! Thank for sharing with us. I've worked with minky too but only one baby quilt which was super tricky but mostly scarves. This would be so helpful in making the infinity scarves as well. I re-watched the beginning & noticed you did include the size for the doll quilt but I couldn't see the measurements the baby quilt. Is there a way to find that? Thank you!
I don't sew but want to after seeing this beautiful blanket you made and how easy it was to make. Thx for sharing and congrats on your new granddaughter.

Oh my! I wish I'd found this before I made several patchwork minky quilts. I have made one single size for each grandchild (4), plus 3 extra for my daughter-in-law. I also made a queen size for my son and daughter-in-law, with 8x8 squares on the front. Lots of fuzz, fixing, and swearing, lol. Thank you so much for this video!
Look I was so intimidated on making my first sewn blanket ever. I made my first one in less than 40mins and then did the second one 5hours later all thanks to you. Today, I am about to make a second baby blanket for my future daughter
Oh my goodness this makes me so happy!!!🤗🩷 Congratulations on your future daughter! She will cherish her blankets made by her mommy! Congratulations on sewing your first blanket ever!!!🤗🩷Thank you so much for sharing your sweet comments! Happy sewing!🤗🌸🩷
This is the best sewing hack ever. I’ve used Press n Seal in many ways but this is a game changer! It bastes the seam and stabilizes it at the same time. I marked seam lines right on the PNS with a Sharpie. Worked fabulously.
Great job and congratulations on your new baby grand daughter. Thank you for the hack. I sew and embroider a lot on minky and I am sure this hack will help with the fuzz. I have ironed on minky and after you wash it the bubbles do come back. You will be so busy sewing for the baby. I just finished making an embroidered sleeping sack with zipper for my grandson with minky. The babies all love it. My older grandsons still use and love all their blankets.
Thank you so much Maddie! I adore my granddaughter!!!!🥰💗👶🏼💗 Yes! I have a lot of sewing plans for her!😍 Thank you for that tip! Good to know! Minky fabric makes the best blankets! It’s my grandchildren’s favorite blanket too! Thank you so much for watching!🥰💗

Awwwwww thank you so much Janice!!! I’m so happy you found my channel too! Thank you so much for watching! Happy sewing!🤗💗
What a smart and fun way to do this. I avoid minky because of all the slipping and shedding. Cant wait to try this. Thanks Robyn!!!
Thank you so much Trish! You will love using this hack! Happy sewing!🤗💗
This is just perfect for using lots of stuff, not just minky. Brilliant, just brilliant!!
Thank you so much Mary!🤗💗Thank you for watching!🤗💗
I just made a blanket with this method. What a great tip!!!!
Thats so awesome! Please tag me on instagram with a photo of your blanket if you want to. I would love to see it!🤗 Thank you for your sweet comment!🥰🩷🌸
My first time sewing with Minky and my blanket turned out so well! I used the press and seal as well as pinning it every 1/2 inch.
Thats awesome! 🤗🩷Congratulations!
Thank you so much Tamara!🤗💗 Happy sewing!
Oh my goodness! This is probably one of the best hacks ever 😊. I love making blankets for my kids but I have such a horrible time pinning them together that now I dread making them lol 😆. I am 100% gonna try this out for my next one.
Thank you so much Jessica! 🤗💗 Happy sewing!🤗
This is amazing! I just tried my first item using minky and have been ripping the seams out to redo it. The fabric shifted and stretched, ruining everything. I stumbled across your video by accident and I’m so happy I did!! Thank you so much!!
Awwwww thank you so much Terri!🥰💗 I’m so glad my video is helpful!🤗💗
wow, I wish I had this hack when I sewed my great nieces blankert.. Thanks.
Thanks for watching!😊🩷
This is GENIUS! Can’t wait to try! Thanks a million!

I've never touched a sewing machine and you make it look so easy! Lol thank you for the great tutorial and tip!
Awwwww Thank you so much!🤗💗You should try it , it’s sew much Fun!!!🤗💗
Brilliant. Love new uses for common things; rather than new products. Love the feel of minky, but never tried to sew it. I can't help but to think how nice a kirtle (fit and flare long sleeve dress) would feel made out of minky. How nice to lounge in on a cold night! Thank you, you have given me courage!
Awwww Thank you so much!!! 🤗💗That dress sounds so cozy and soft! Thank you for watching!🤗
I make quilts & back them with minky but I bind them. I typically use temporary spray glue in between so it doesn't move.
I love the press & seal as an addition to what I already do. Thank you 😀
Hi AK Sonya,🤗 Thank you for the tip on using the spray adhesive.💗 Thank you so much for watching!🤗💗🌸
Robyn, Thank You, so much for this tip! At my age, I wasn't even aware that "Press n Seal" existed! So you can imagine how it feels to learn from you while I'm in the middle of making winter hats ❣️

Thank you so much Sandi!🤗💗
Awesome hack. I have a quilt top that I bought minki for,but I wasn't sure how to keep it from shifting. I knew I would use my walking foot, but was stumped at that point. This makes so much sense. Added you to my subscriptions. Thank you so much. My husband is in a nursing home and will love it.
Thank you so much Rhonda! Thank you for subscribing, I really appreciate it!🥰💗 What a nice soft comforting quilt for your husband!🤗💗🙏

Just bought some more minky for a blanket for my niece. SO GLAD I found your video!! It will make it so much easier to sew!! Gotta get some Press n Seal now!! 😊
P.S. -your grandbaby must be here by now!
I’m sure this blanket is her favorite! So soft…
Thank you so much Cora! So glad my video helped. I have a link in my description box to order Press N Seal, if that helps you.
Yes she is almost 5 months old, and she loves her blanket! Thank you😊❤️
I love it as a coat! That price $16.99 was pricey especially at a Hobby Lobby! Your project turned out fine in the long run.
What a brilliant idea to use press and seal!
Hi Ann, thank you so much!😊 🩷
What a clever hack!!! I'm going to try this hack. Thank you.

Your welcome Karen. So glad my video helped you. Thank you so much for watching!🤗💗
Thanks for sharing this method of sewing with Minky fabric. I want to make some throw quilts for my four grandchildren, but wondered if I could back them with fleece or Minky instead of regular woven cotton fabric. Now I know I can, and it should be easy if I use your tips.
You are so welcome! 🤗🩷 Have fun sewing for your 4 grandchildren! Thank you so much for watching!🤗🩷

Hi Denisekay66. Thank you so much!🤗💗
Thank you so much!

Great tip! I have seen people use it when making in the hoop embroidery projects. I will be making two of these blankets this week - so helpful!
Thank you so much Genevieve!🤗💗
This is my all-time favorite hack!! I have a crippled left hand/arm, this hack serves as my "accomodation". Also, I have lymohedema in my left hand/arm (cancer treatment) so using needles isn't good for me, so this hack is just what I need!! Thank you for sharing. God bless!

Thank you!

Oh my! I wish I'd found this before I made several patchwork minky quilts. I have made one single size for each grandchild (4), plus 3 extra for my daughter-in-law. This is the best sewing hack ever. I’ve used Press n Seal in many ways but this is a game changer! It bastes the seam and stabilizes it at the same time. I marked seam lines right on the PNS with a Sharpie. Worked fabulously.
Hi Kathleen, thank you so much for your sweet comments!🤗🩷 Thats a great idea to mark your seam lines on the PNS. Thank you for sharing this!!! 😍🩷🌸
This is an excellent tip. The mess of sewing with milky or faux fur stops me from using it more. Now, I’m going to make all the faux fur jackets. Thanks for a wonderful tip.
