Yay! You just made my day, Elaine! I am thrilled my tutorial helped you! If you’re on IG, tag me when you post a pic of your blanket! I would love to see it! 💗
What a cute blanket and wonderful technique! I wish there was someone expecting a baby in my life so I could make a gift set! I noticed you embroidered a name on the flannel, what a fantastic idea! Love your videos Andra!❤😊
Such a beautiful blanket! Great tutorial Andra. Thank you so much! I only used minky one time…it was such a disaster… I never tried it again… but, now I will. ❤
Awesome tutorial, Andra. I saved it to my “Challenges in Sewing” list. An additional trick that I learned from Robyn @RobynsLoveOfSewing is for trimming the minky, and it’s been really useful. Use Glad Press N Seal to press over the edges where you plan to trim. Trim through the Press N Seal, then remove the P&S. Doing this prevents the minky fuzz from flying around everywhere, making cleanup of your cutting area a breeze. Robyn has a tutorial on her channel showing the process. 💕💕💕 Thanks for sharing your tutorial with us! 😊
I'm definitely going to do this next month. I have a wonderful bit of flannel from JoAnns so I'm going to get some Minky to back it. If only my Son would tell me the baby to be's name then I could embroider it!! Thanks so much Andra ❤️🧵❤️
Thank you so much, Deb! Cut out your bib pattern piece in flannel, and pin it right side down to the larger, uncut minky piece. Sew around, using the edge of the flannel as your guide, and leaving an opening for turning. Trim the minky flush with the flannel (except at opening), turn right side out, and close up the opening. 💗
Yay! You just made my day, Carol! Thank you so much! If you’re on IG, tag me when you post a pic! I’d love to see it! If you’re not on IG, keep me posted on your blankie here in the comments! 💗
Great technique Andra, thanks! I'm always sewing baby gift items & love minky but never enjoyed sewing with it. Robin's Love of Sewing has an interesting technique using Glad Press n Seal to sew with Minky.
Thank you so much, Karen! The minky and cotton combo will totally work! I think the minky/minky combo could work if it’s pinned really well! Let me know if you try it! I would love to see yours! 💗
I’ve made a couple of these and I love them! They are so easy, it’s mainly the prep work with the pins it takes the time. My mom taught me to run the pin through my hair so it goes through the fabric easier. Thank you for making this video!
Thank you so much, Elaine! This will work with any size blanket/item, as long as the minky is larger than the other fabric you’re using. I recommend waiting to wash until after the blanket has been made. Keep me posted on yours! Can’t wait to see! 💜
Do you not do any kind of sewing to hold the fabric together so it doesn’t “balloon” apart when washing? I’m going to make one this weekend and will go find you on IG
Thank you so much, Noemi! Yes, this will work with any size - larger or smaller - as long as your minky starts off larger than the other fabric you’re using! Let me know if you make one! 💗
Thanks for the tip! What size pins are you using? Looks like there are three sizes to choose from (2”, 1 1/4”, 1 1/16”). I’m making my first Minky blanket next week and you’ve give me courage! 😅
Yay, Beth! You can totally do it! Here’s my affiliate link to some basting pins. If you click on that link and make a qualified purchase, I will receive a VERY SMALL commission from Amazon. If you’d rather not use the link, you can find them at JoAnn, WalMart, Hobby Lobby, etc. I use 1.5-inch. Please keep me posted on your blanket, and tag me on IG so I can see it and share it! 🤩💗 amzn.to/3S3cl7Q
I would definitely prewash 100% cotton flannel as it will shrink and minky does not. I intentionally washed 1/2 yard of flannel to compare with 1/2 yard unwashed and it was almost 1/2 " difference.
omg I just made the perfect blanket. I have been struggling with minky for so long. THANK YOU THANK YOU
Yay! You just made my day, Elaine! I am thrilled my tutorial helped you! If you’re on IG, tag me when you post a pic of your blanket! I would love to see it! 💗
Such a great idea! I’ve backed a quilt with minky once and swore I’d never try that again LOL But this method is soooo good! Thank you for sharing! 💞
😂 Totally understand! It can be a beast to work with! Thank you so much, Izzy! 💜 How is your hubs?
What a cute blanket and wonderful technique! I wish there was someone expecting a baby in my life so I could make a gift set! I noticed you embroidered a name on the flannel, what a fantastic idea! Love your videos Andra!❤😊

Great tutorial Andra! I wish I would have seen this before making the blanket for Jen's baby shower 🤣
Next time! 💜👶🏼
Great tutorial, Andra! I love that minky fabric!! Hmmm...you've got me wondering now just how you make the bib...
Thanks, Andra! Do you use a snap or some velcro for the closure?
Either will work! Whatever you have on hand! There are some free, downloadable bib patterns on RUclips! 💗
Learned so much...Thank you so much...

Thanks for this tutorial! Have you ever made these with 2 layers of minky, or one layer minky with the other layer cotton? Thoughts?
Thanks again!

Great technique I would also like to make a larger size for a throw. Did you wash this fabric before cutting it out?
Thank you so much, Elaine! This will work with any size blanket/item, as long as the minky is larger than the other fabric you’re using. I recommend waiting to wash until after the blanket has been made. Keep me posted on yours! Can’t wait to see! 💜
Good video I learn a lots

Hi! I don’t. It’s nice and squishy and comfy! Babies and toddlers love it! Can’t wait to see yours! 💗
Great tutorial. Easy peasy! I might make one a bit larger as a cozy throw for myself 😊
Thank you so much, Noemi! Yes, this will work with any size - larger or smaller - as long as your minky starts off larger than the other fabric you’re using! Let me know if you make one! 💗

Will the flannel shrink and the minky not and what kind of thread do you use. cotton or polyester
Hi! I haven’t had any issues with shrinking. I use poly thread. Let me know if you make one/some! 💗
I would definitely prewash 100% cotton flannel as it will shrink and minky does not. I intentionally washed 1/2 yard of flannel to compare with 1/2 yard unwashed and it was almost 1/2 " difference.
@josiqstevens Since these blankets are not quilted, if the flannel did shrink a little after washing, if would not affect the look of the blanket. 💗
W❤️W!
Right?!?! Game-changer! Let me know if you make one/some, Cami! I would love to see them! 💗
Why 1 1/3 yard verses 1 1/4 so less waste????
Hi, Sylvia! 1 1/3 yards work best! 💗
