I couldn’t ask for a better instructor. Your video is perfect and you never waste words, every one counts. Teachers of your caliber do not come along but rarely. Thank you.
Also THANK YOU for not playing any loud music! Great idea for the mitered corners and great presentation. So much neater and cleaner than a zigzag stitch on the miter seam.
Yes, I agree. I’m about to do my second paid job for a baby quilt with satin binding and I has saved this video in my fav video’s. There isn’t a better instruction and instructor on her. Thank you NotchesSewing.
Agreed. I've made several fleece comforters with satin blanket binding edges. I would top stitch the miter after I had zig-zagged the binding to the comforter. Not a great look, but it secured the miters closed. Your method is the best, and the best explainer video of how to do mitered satin blanket binding corners. Thank you.
Knit a baby blanket and followed your video to attach a satin binding. Love your mitered corners so much more than other tutorials. Thanks for your calming voice and step by step by details.
You are so welcome! Glad it was helpful and you accomplished it. Many years ago I was challenged to put satin binding around a couple of king size loosely crocheted blankets.😳 This is method I came up with after lots trial and error to get a perfect corner and no obvious joins. I also wanted the corner to hold the the crochet well in place.
This method is amazing. I just finished a flannel blanket for my soon to arrive grandson. It turned out beautifully. Your instructions and the video are point on. Thank you so much. I will use this method again. I just looks so much more finished than the regular zigzag method.
I have been sewing since age 6 and now at 80 the one thing that always gave me fits was mitered corners but your system is superior to anything I have tried. One thing that is fabulous is the corners are sewed closed and no need to hand sew or zig zag that area when done. At first I saw your RUclips and came back twice before I tried it and so glad I did. Thank you for making this task much easier and so professional looking!
Thank you for providing an excellent video on adding satin binding to a blanket. You spoke slowly, so I could understand you, and the quality of the video shots were perfect, so I could see exactly what you were doing!
Amazing teaching skills and sewing knowledge. Precise like an engineer and magic like an artist - nothing to add or remove. I'm in awe of your talent and creativity.✨️ Thank you, Angela!
@@NotchesSewing If the quilt is too large for a single package of satin binding, do you have a video of how you would connect the two strips to make it longer? Thank you.
I would attach it like I've shown on the second blanket, that way there are no seams along the straight edges. If you are worried about wastage, join ends together on bias. ruclips.net/user/shorts7PnP2AElNmY
I love this way to sew the satin on blankets. I had to watch it a bunch of times as I was sewing, but I think I finally got it! Thank you so much for sharing! Great tutorial!
@@NotchesSewing I do. The Corners are so much better now. I sew a straight stitch as close as I can to the short edge before the zig-zag stitch. This seems to work better for me. I'm working on 7 lap blankets for Christmas gifts for friends who work in a cold office. Each one gets better. Lol
I made a crocheted baby blanket and added a back piece of minky fleece. I wanted to piece them together using satin binding. I had watched several tutorials all claiming the simplest way and all came out looking horrible. I finally found your video. Like you said it does take a little longer but you method was far superior. The final result was better than I could have imagined. And you do a fantastic job explaining each step. Thank you a million times over.
So glad to hear this Sherry! I originally developed this method when I had to add satin binding to a super loosely crocheted blanket. I really wanted the corners to look perfect and hold strongly. I love that there are no obvious joins. Satin binding is can be tricky and when rushed or has a join on one side just looks like rubbish…. Please have a look on my channel for other projects. Thank you for this tutorial! I just completed my first sewing project ever! I made a T-shirt blanket with fleece backing. I’m so glad I found this video, because it made my vision come to life, and I finished my blanket today! Thank you, thank you!

Thank you so much for posting this video. I am a beginner at sewing and was able to follow your instructions easily. The result was a beautifully finished blanket.
The video was great. I have only made a couple baby quilts and still learning. First time I added a satin binding and your instructions were short and precise. Your calm voice was also helpful. . I’m so glad t have found your video instructions.
I started doing this over 30 yrs ago because I don’t like seeing ugly joins and topstitching on the corners to hold in place. This isn’t that fiddly as I don’t actually use clips when I make them. Hope you try😊
Loved your video!!! Although I am using it for a different application, the theory is excellent for what I am doing. My grandaughter is a race horse trainer and has asked me to make Burgundy twill 42" squares with wide white twill mitered borders. Thought I could figure it out , but alas, not as smart as I thought I was. Your video is excellent, thank you so very very much.
Thank so much my little mini blanket turned out great. It took a couple times watching the end joining for my (little brain) to catch on. But I will now use this method always for Mitred corners. I look for to watching your other tutorials. Thanks again Susan
Great explanation! Never did a binding like this and have been looking for a precise video for a while. Exactly what I needed. Pray I can catch both sides as easy as you made this look.

@@NotchesSewing I made a double flannel baby blanket with your instructions. It looks fantastic! I’ll be using that process a lot! It does make the corners look great. I did wash the flannel before I sewed on the binding, I didn’t want the flannel to shrink and cause the binding to ripple. I think this is going to be a new favorite. ❤️
Very good video. I had no idea that corners were done that way. Followed your instructions and came out with perfect corners on the baby blanket we were making, so kudos.
Thanks for your video..very concise and clear. I needed to replay numerous times and my corners are not perfect by any means… but,I get it and I’m going to try with fabric binding next. I think I will be able to make the corners easier…also, I used some hem tape under the binding edges along long sides to help hold in place a little more. Worked like a charm….
Great ! You do whatever it takes to make it easier. Ideally you don’t want extra stitching to show to keep it neat. You can also do big hand basting stitches to keep edges in place and pull out after. Thanks for watching🙂
This is a wonderful video! Thank you for posting it. I used this video today for the first time and the results were perfect! Thank you so much it was so clear and easy to understand!
Great video! I really needed to see this method. Like nothing I've ever seen before. Mine didn't come out as perfect as yours but nothing I do ever does. LOL Still, it comes out nicer than the way I used to do it. Thanks so much!
I used your method on a hand woven baby blanket that I made & it came out very nice. Any issues were with my 77 year old fingers. Thank you very much for your video & instructions. Charlotte😅
Charlotte, I know exactly what you mean with the fingers….. Takes about half an hour in the morning before I can even make half a fist….I’ll have some more baby blankets soon. Thanks for watching 😊
@@NotchesSewing extremely pleased! So much easier and neater corners! I made my own bias so that was a bit tricky as I had to press the long edges but even with that extra work it turned out very nice and tidy. Thanks again!
Satin Blanket Binding can be really slippery and tricky to add to your projects. Have you even used it and how did you go?

Glad it you like it Sheila. One of my favourite in terms of outcome when you flip over. It’s such a nice feeling when that corner is just perfect!
What an amazing way to do perfect binding. Mine was always hard to make smooth. Thank you for sharing this technique! 💗
Thank you. So glad you like it. 😊
Amazing tutorial! Thank you! Beautiful finish and I learned a new skill. Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome! Hope you give it a try. I can almost guarantee you will love those corners!
Good thinking. Exactly what you should do. Flannel can shrink like crazy!
Hahaha! (6:13) A Twisted Mess! The title of my autobiography! Thanks for such great instruction.
You are so welcome!🤣
Very good video. I had no idea that corners were done that way. Followed your instructions and came out with perfect corners on the baby blanket we were making, so kudos.
Thank you. Glad you like my method😊
Thank you so much for this awesome tutorial!! It was very helpful!!
You are very welcome! I am so glad you found this helpful! Please let me know how you go😊
Ur video was a life saver n so easy to understand! Thank you soon much!!
Glad it helped!
Oh I’m so glad to hear this!. Don’t you love how stable the corners are and no obvious join..😊 thanks for watching

As long as you pin well, it’ll turn out real nice! PS I have another simpler baby blanket in the new year. Please subscribe so you don’t miss it.😊

Thanks for that tutorial. It's given me inspiration to use satin binding.

@@NotchesSewing extremely pleased! So much easier and neater corners! I made my own bias so that was a bit tricky as I had to press the long edges but even with that extra work it turned out very nice and tidy. Thanks again!
This is exactly what I needed. Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Thank you how beautiful
