I absolutely love that you don’t use any super fancy or hard methods. As a beginner I don’t have a lot of the fancy bells & whistles(such as the walking foot) so its so nice that you are using basic sewing products that beginners usually start off with!!❤️

I didn’t realize I was making a quilt. My first quilt ever and a newish sewer. I tried to make a throw and it ended up being half way to toddler size and the pins were pointless 🤣 either way this is the most proud I’ve ever been with any project. Thank you so much!

I love this “self-binding” quilt! And video! I’ve never liked giving a blanket without quilting the inside down. I was given one for my son and laying him down on it (yes, we used to lie babies on their tummies sometimes back then, and when I went to check on him he was all tangled up in the blanket which had separated and he was struggling to breath, arms flailing, and very red in the face. Needless to say I panicked and was so grateful I sensed an urgency to go check on him! This happens especially when the baby can turn over onto their tummies.
    Great tutorial! Thank you.

I just want to put in my love of Baby Lock! I bought the cheapest model at first. I didn’t know how to sew and I didn’t want any distracting bells and whistles! It was fantastic to learn on! I loved sewing and my Baby Lock and I knew I could look forward to many happy years of my new hobby on what I realized was a great machine! I had lucked out! The nice lady at the sewing machine store steered me to the perfect machine! And then, I lucked out again! I won a Baby Lock! I know, crazy! This is the only thing of any substance that I have ever won! The new machine is fancier than my old machine and it does have many of those “bells and whistles” I was afraid of. But, I have to say, it is still easy to use and I love the extra features! So, I’m sorry, Dana, to jump into that first! I do love the blanket and I always enjoy your show! I just thought if I put it first, people might see it and read my fangirl views on Baby Lock! I honestly feel grateful to them. They made what I had always viewed as something hard and made it easy for me. I mean, I’m glad I took an introductory class at the Sewing Store, too. But if I hadn’t had such an easy machine to use, I probably wouldn’t have made it through! I’m sorry I don’t remember the name of the store right off hand, but if you’re from Washington State and want to know, I’ll try to find it for you!

Love this one Dana. Gotta make a baby shower gift and I’m making one of these with both sides flannel fabric. I used to watch you sew many moons ago and I loved your thread cutter. When I started searching for a new machine a few years ago, it had to have the auto cutter no exception. I ended up with a Brother and it does have auto cut and I love it. I’m so grateful to you for showing this feature in all your videos. I do love that cutter!!!
I would love to have a baby lock but they are out of my price range. I’ve learned that Baby Lock & Brother are owned by the same company. Maybe someday I can get a Baby Lock but I’m really happy with my Brother. It’s a great machine.
    Happy Day to you! 💕☀️🧵

I made something similar a while back, but put a foot pocket on one end...it's great! That way, if you stretch out on the couch and pull up the blanket, your feet won't pop out! Haha...All I did was make the length long enough to be folded back onto the fuzzy side ( I used fleece ) and stitched up the sides. I used decorator fabric for the outside that complements my couch, so that when it is folded up, it just looks look a pillow or bolster.

I now understand why my first blanket lost its square shape and morphed into an amoeba! I used a thin fleece instead of sherpa! I'm determined to make the next baby blanket with minky and flannel. Any suggestions before i wrestle with this? 😂

Wow! As a beginner, I‘m always scared of the sewing-through-multiple-layers part, fearing the threads on the backside to create nasty bird nests, or the sherpa fabric getting tangled in the machine 😬 I just discovered your channel, and I want to thank you for liberating me of my fears to start that kind of projects (made several meters of binding tape this WE, following your instructions, and turned out great, btw).
As you can see in my profile picture, I have two pups. Alas, their transportation box, installed in the car, has totally stupid measures on the inside, which makes it almost impossible to find accurate fitting blankets to put in the box, so I really appreciate your tutorial on that - should rid me of the problem.
Thanks for explaining everything so understandably and made easy-looking, and for not taking ages and ages to show things.
(We are often our greatest enemies, by not daring to start something new, because things, which tend to be complicated keep us from trying them out. Which is sad, because we can achieve a lot, if we only give ourselves a chance)
Keep on vlogging those vids for us!
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪 to Texas 😍

I love your videos! You have taught me so much, and I have given many of your projects to other people so your thumbs up count does not accurately represent how many people you have brought smiles to.
Re: this particular video, I've never attempted a blanket or quilt, but you make it seem doable! I might have to work up a little more courage and give it a try.

Like this technique, I have two pieces of thin fleece so I'm going to use the larger solid pink color on the back and the print with flamingos on the front! Also just do some lite quilting outlining the flamingos, And because it won't frey I'm not going to turn under the seam and just use a wide zigzag stitch to sew it down.

  • @onlythetruth197
    @onlythetruth197 5 лет назад +1

For the last stitch you also can use a tiny zig zag... Looks cute

Can't wait to finish 2 of them for the boys! I'm doing the toddler lap blanket. How far apart do you recommend putting the stitched lines to hold the pieces together? Watched your video over and over. I love the step by step instructions!
