    I have made a few of the self binding receiving blankets, now I watched a person (female) that uses the same technique as you do. But she just zips along and I have stop and rewind numerous times before it gets processed. I am going to say this because I think you deserve to get all the credit. You one explain it really well and your video on the step by step instructions is very good along with your camera being right there showing each step as you go. You sir are my new hero. This is great and I plan to watch more of your videos keep on sewing. I just took up sewing in the last couple of months so I am an extreme novice. But you give me hope that I can and will be successful.

      I had the same experience, watching a lady who just zipped along and the camera was at an angle that I could not see properly. This video is so much better. Thank you for taking the time to make it!

      Not fair to criticize another person who made a fine video to help others. She did a good job too, and it takes quite a bit of time and effort to make these videos. How hard is it to pause, back up?

    Mr. "Ask me how I know!". I find your tutorial very refreshing. Just like a comment, a female teacher just blows through the blanket, and I'm, "Wait, what?"Back up! You are very clear and informative. Thank you so much. 😂❤

    Scrappy, I love the way you explain things. I have seen this self binding blanket before and it was just too complicated. Love this I have some tops pieced for baby blankets, I think I will use this technique to finish them. Thank you so much for a great video. Has the water started going down yet? Take care, i'll see you next time.

    Your tutorial made it easy to understand how to make a receiving blanket. I just made one and now have the confidence to make some more. The mitered corners don’t look so hard to make anymore. Thanks to you for the excellent tutorial. Oh, btw the reminders to back stitch is so helpful.

    Great demo and great teacher. Those dog ears had me stumped and first try was the BAD NEWS you spoke of. I watched tons of vedios and thought I had it but nope. After watching your close, clear pictures, I got it. Thanks.

      Agreed! Your instructions and visuals are very clear. Truth be told, I saw your pic and chose this video because my brain works like a man’s brain when it comes to constructing something (dad’s family all cabinet makers!) Now to go back and fix the first two quilts. Third time’s a charm!

    Thank you a hundred times over. I followed several other tutorials, but always got lost on mitering those corners. I ended up with a lot of bad news. I could not see how they handled those corners, but you showed how not once, but twice with a good view of where the fold lays, where you place the ruler--it was all so visible that I could follow right along with you and I had success! No more bad news. Thanks for making it so much easier!

    Thanks for the video, you are a really good teacher, thanks. I will be making one of these in the near future. I wonder if you or anyone knows the answer to this question.
    I would like a flannel throw to be 50" wide by 60" long. So should I cut 25" off of a 44" wide flannel, or cut just 8 1/2 inches from a second piece of 44" inch wide fabric?
    If yes, is an offset seam going to look odd and does a centered 25" inch x 2 to equal 50" be better? Does anyone know?

    One more question. How do you know how large it will be? If it starts out 40 and the other is 30 inch. How large will it be in the end?

    • @ScrappyPatch
      @ScrappyPatch  3 года назад

      You should have about a 2 1/2 inch border when you are done so the finished blanket will be around 32-33 inches. So if you are using the 40 and 30 inch squares then you will have 5 inches over lapping on all sides. Divide that in half and it’s the 2 1/2 inch border. I hope that makes sense.
