Brittany! I didn't know you sew. I'm 62 and have been sewing since I was 12 years old. Cute! I love making baby blankets.
All the while I was watching this, I was thinking wouldn’t it be neat to have a matching tumbler and blanket using the same patterned fabric and I should have known you were going to say that at the end ☺️
Haha yes!!! I’m actually going to use scraps to make this mama a matching cup. So tutorial for that will follow 😊
I would love to see all of the accessories you can make to match the blankets! They would make great gifts! Love the blankets!
Absolutely! I’ll be sure to do one soon!
Thank you!! Great idea for Xmas gift i am thinking blankets and tumblers for my sisters this year 💜 yes!! Please more tutorials on matching sets!! Thank you Brittany ❣️
Thank you 😊
I love this tutorial. I bought some fabric like this a few years ago to make a few blankets and they are still sitting in the bag from JoAnn’s. Now I can finish those and get them sold. Any sewing tutorial is ALWAYS welcome. I know I’ll use the information provided in them.
Yes! Gosh everyone just loves them so much!
Thx so much … making this today for my first grand baby
Yes, I’d love to see your baby sets!!
Thank you for this easy comprehensive tutorial. I’m a novice sewer and will be making blankets and this is just exactly what I needed.
Thank you for this video - blanket obsessed and love to gift them.
Absolutely!
OMG Brittany so beautiful 💞 you are very talented, I absolutely loved both fabrics 💕 Thank you for doing something different to give us different ideas 💡💞
Thank you so much
Love this tutorial, please do include more like it!
Thank you
Thanks for sharing, I have started back sewing again and this will help me get back to it! I too started when I was young. They don’t make the sewing machines like they use to. The new ones have lots of features but the oldie but goodie ones lasted and let you sew heavier fabricates.
Gosh I know! When I was in 8th grade, the cool thing was to make purses and bags out of koolaid packs 😂 you best bet my other machine sewn through pack after pack and didn’t skip a beat and continued on until last year when it said I’m done. It had a lot of functions but very simple to use and would see ANYTHING.
Love this video! I would definitely like more tutorials with similar ideas and accessories.
Thank you 😊
Brilliant idea! Thanks Brittany
I don't sew, but if I did I would want to make these! They are so cute and cozy looking! I want one for myself! :)
They are amazing blankets! Lightweight yet the minky fabric is so soft and cozy.
So easy! Thanks. I might teach my granddaughter how to make one.
Yes! I’m sure she would love that
I love this thank you so much would love to see more content
Yes please show how you make the accessories!
Sew Cute! I've been making those for years. They truly are a cute gift.
I see what you did there 😏
Thank you!! 💗
I haven’t sewn for many, many years! And never blankets! But you make this blanket doable for me lol! And such a great gift! My friend just had a baby so I think I’ll try the crib size! Tx Brittany!!💕
Lord have mercy Brittany, now you giving something else to try!!! Lol. Those blankets are beautiful and you make it look so easy but I never seen before (other than a pillow in home ec class in junior high school and it was terrible).
You got this!!!!
I Love this! Thank you for showing us❤ I would love to see more sewing videos.🤩 Thank you❤❤
Of course!! Thank you
Oh my goodness! New mommy gift sets would be awesome!
Thank you for sharing your process! I've been making blankets and burp cloths since my daughter was born 6 years ago. They make such perfect gifts! I would love to see more tutorials for matching items!

Thank you sooo much for the video! I loved everything about it! Time to go to Walmart and buy a machine! 😅 the accessories would be sooo cute! Especially a matching fabric tumbler! 🥰 you’re so talented! Thank you!
Thank you Yasmine!!! 💗
Thank you!
Would love to see a tutorial on making the other stuff to match the blankets
This was a really easy tutorial to follow, I did use it to make a big blanket (queen sized) and it still worked amazingly
Great tutorial! Love the clear instructions and great video. This would be great to make a matching mommy and child tumblers that match the fabric.
Dry nice job!
OMG 😱 I have that same machine. It’s not working right now but I’m gonna take it to the shop to get it fixed. I started sewing cloth pads with that machine and I love it ❤
Aww these are so cute! I bought the same blue fabric for the back of my baby nephew’s quilt-so soft and cuddly ☺️ I’d love to see more accessory tutorials :D
These blankets are beautiful! 😊 I used to sew when I was very young but I no longer have a machine. I would love to pick it up again and this would be a great thing to start with. I also appreciate the info on the different sized items and suggested selling prices. Can you tell us how much fabric to buy for each? Thanks for all of your wonderful knowledge. 💗
Thank you so much! The best way to determine how much fabric you need is look at the sizes you want to make your blanket and the size of 1 yard on the fabric bolt (the end I showed in the tutorial) most minky/poly fabric is 60” X 36” for a yard so for a child size and under you would just need a yard. Infant blanket one yard of cotton and child size one and a half yards. I get a little extra for accessories.
I’d love to see the bib/burp cloth ideas!!
Thanks for sharing. I would like to see the burp cloths 😊
Discovered that a newer agitator type washing machine does not really have hot water (thank environmentalists). It mixes cold with hot and if you have an on-demand hot water heater, you won’t even get warm water. You can fill the tub with a hose from an sink next to the washer, if you have one, with hot water and let the fabric sit for 5 minutes to shrink and then wash.
Christ woman now I wanna make blankets! 😩😩😩
🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️🤷♀️😂
Very nice tutorial. How would you make one in an adult size though?
I recently saw a tip that you can sharpen your scissors by using a ball of foil….I haven’t tried it personally but I plan on trying it …I think I saw that n Pinterest 🤔
🥰🥰🥰🌹🌹🌹
Does anyone know where to find sewing groups? I have found that their are
non-profits in my area in need of blankets and kid's clothing ranging from newborn to young adult.
I do not know of any sewing groups but I have made quite for quilts for kids . Com before. They send you the fabric and you sew and mail in the finished quilts. It cost me roughly $25 per blanket but it was an awesome feeling getting a mailer that my quilt had been gifted to a sick child and it made them smile.
If I wanted to make the blanket and tumbler to sale as ready to ship, what would be a good price range? I have no idea what to charge but I think a lot of people would buy them.
Do you pre wash the polyester too?
What is a wristlet for mom?
Thank you so much for this video, it is exactly what I needed to help me with my current project.
Question: in your experience, do you think a larger size blanket (i.e. a twin size) should have any filling? Batting? (I’m so sorry, I’m brand new to sewing and this is going to be my first big project and I can’t remember what it’s called)
I’m going to be making a sized up version of my son’s favorite blanket now that he’s in a twin sized bed. I couldn’t find the exact same minky, but I found a similar one or at least one with moons and stars theme which is what his current one is. I was planning to make the minky the top and the cotton the bottom. His current one has a minky top and a faux Sherpa backing (that long ago lost all of its softness lol which is why I’m going with a cotton this time). I just worry that it’ll be too thin as a twin size blanket. Would love to get an expert opinion.
Either way thank you again for such a detailed tutorial including washing the cotton beforehand, I had not thought of that and I’m so glad you brought it up because I can absolutely see how it would shrink and make the blanket super uneven.
HI!!! so sorry for the delayed response. I have never found any reason to add batting in these as long as some sort of minky fabric was used for the back. They are all super warm and loved for many years by the little customers of mine.
Do you just make kids and infant blankets or have adults asked you for bigger sized blankets?
Mainly kids and babies, other things for them. The child size is a great lap blanket for elderly and small adults. I HAVE made adult sizes but have to order custom fabric from spoonflower to get the width and they are definitely pricey.
@@brittanybarnesboutique That makes sense. I can’t wait to see your matching items!
Do you need a special foot for the pink fluffy blanket ??
no, you do not. it isnt SUPER thick. just a little patience.
