Oh my goodness, thank you for this video! Doing mitered corners with blanket binding was just something I never got the hang of and I always knew my baby blankets weren't as good as they could be. I can't wait to try this!
Love the idea of using soap as a marker on dark fabric. I am making a bunch of dog blankets - timely video! I will now make them using this process, rather than the boring method I had planned to use. Thank you!
What a nice easy project! I especially love that you made a small sample to show us so we could see the whole thing on camera (smart cookie, you are!). You could even make the center part some sort of quilt pattern....although then (thinking out loud) you'd probably have to insert a piece of batting and then hand tack it all down or even machine quilt it using a straight stitch or free motion.

So clear and easy to understand! I just made my first lap quilt that is a self binding style. I made it from quilting cotton but could not for the life of me get the mitered corners to work. I’ve done mitered corners for napkins but I couldn’t get them to work on my quilt. I sewed them square and as neatly as possible. But I would love to figure out how to do the proper miter on the quilting cotton version.

I am making a baby bargello quilt for my niece's baby. I've never made a bargello, and have actually only completed 3 real quilt, (still sewing on the binding on my last one). But I sort of have a knack for this ( at least that's what a few people have told me). I only know that for some reason I just LOVE sewing, especially sewing quilts! And I now have so much fabric it's insane! My grandmother was a professional seamstress and as I was growing up I sat beside her and I watched her and talked with her about what she was doing. I've made a few things over the years (by ear, the same way I play music) and they have turned out pretty good, but I always wanted to become a really good quilter. I love quilts so much, sometimes their beauty brings tears to my eyes. So much love, so much work, so much thought, goes into each quilt. They are just so beautiful. I'm a grandmother with an 18 & 20 year old grandkids, and a 2 year old great grandson, and I just want to say that it's never too late to begin something new! So off I go to add this "sew very easy" self binding cuddle fabric to the back of my baby bargello quilt! Thanks again for all you do! You are just awesome!

Awesome. Funnily enough as my first ever qiilting project, I've just made 3 blankets using a similar technique but with a jelly roll quilt top! My grandchildren love their 'cuddle quilt'. Lol.
I love every thing you do !!! I wish tho you could do some more things for grandkids, like the quiet book you doing everything step by step and give a list of what is need and measurements. There is not one fully step by step video that truely shows how.

I feel so embarrassed. I just got into sewing a couple weeks ago. I didn't realized math ( measurements) was such a big part of sewing. Well, the bad thing is I'm bad in math. Like very hard for me to comprehend with basic measurements. Your video is the only one that shows me what a 45degree angle is. Alot my sewing project are crooked, I get so confused with measurements. Thank you so much for showing basic skills. Some people like me just don't know.
I always LOVED the Shannon cuddle fabric but never used it. I noticed it’s kind of messy when you were cutting, which is no big deal, but just wanted to ask if it’s stops shedding like that when the project is complete?
Whenever I make something with cuddle fabric I always give it a really good shake outdoors when I'm done (I shake the sh!t out of it - LOL!) and then it's fine after that.You could also wash & dry it in the dryer and then FOR SURE all the loose fuzzies will come off and be caught in the lint trap ;)
Can you point me to a video on how to join pieces of minky fabric together? When I do it stretches even though I try hard to machine feed it with a walking foot
That's what I would do for sure - spray baste the middle part to hold it place. But I would make the mitered corners first, then spray bast the center in.

It seems to be a great way to do it but I like to add a quilting material between my 2 pieces of flannel.

It can stretch so a walking foot would be great also use a little bit of a bigger stitch :)

yes it will stop shedding, you can put it in the dryer or vacuum it

Yes
That's what I would do for sure - spray baste the middle part to hold it place. But I would make the mitered corners first, then spray bast the center in.
it will all depend on the spray, get a permanent one, and spraying it together first is also a time saver:)
Does this method only work if the back fabric is a perfect square. Can it be 36x58
