This was such a helpful video. Thank you. It’s Christmas time, I’m slammed with projects and thankfully your video came up first in my search on attaching blanket binding. You made it look easy and I got right to it. You are so right about using a lint roller. The satin lining really seems to attract lint. Thank you again!
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thank you. Sometimes you just want a simple and still lovely sewing project for that dopamine boost from getting something finished on your one day off work.
This video is perfect. Thank you for sharing. I was looking for more blanket ideas. I enjoy making items and donating them to many charities. This is going to help with all age groups.
Question: you are using binding without one edge wider, but mine is wider on one side. How do I sew two pieces together, making sure I match the two pieces width to width? (My geometry/visual spatial skills are rusty!)
This helped me immensely! I’ve cobbled together four quilts or soft blankets for my three grandkids and I’m working on a full-to-queen size quilt for my granddaughter’s 6 th birthday this fall. I set it aside for making a soft blankie for my youngest granddaughter’s 1st birthday. I didn’t make one for her 4 year old brother because he’s autistic and never cared about them. Now, I’m planning on a textured blanket with fleece on the back, satin binding, but a quilt front made of various textures. I’m hoping I can get it made before I see him in June!
Another suggestion for finishing off the binding is to fold one end of the binding into a point and overlapping the first end. That way the seam is on a diagonal instead of straight. (I hope that makes sense.) Also using clips instead of pins to prevent holes or snags in the satin. Great video btw, it really helped me get an understanding on satin binding, it will be my first time working with it. I'll be making two quilts, a baby and a twin size.
Thank you so much! Making my first baby blanket for my expectant niece. It will be hand sewn, as don't have a machine, but your tutorial has given me confidence! You're great with your instruction and helpful tips. First-time viewer, SUBSCRIBED! Blessings.
wondering if a narrow strip of iron on interfacing (the tricot type for knits) or the wash away type along the edge to stabilize the fleece would help make the satin marry to the fleece more nicely.....
It's 2024, I just found you today. I love you!! Thank you for all you do? By chance could you do a tutorial on how to make a dressy tank top? And are some of your shirts made by you if so can you do a tutorial on those?? Thank you again
If you have a walking door that can help. I also will use both hands, on above and one below to help with keeping things straight. Large clips can also help.
Instead of using up all your lint roller tape just run the end of the vacuum cleaner hose over the side of the minky as soon as uoi cut it. Will pick all that junk right up and you can also vacuum off your cutting board. Then I still take it out and shake it out good. By the time I get to the sewing room there is no more fuzz to be found!

I can't wait to do this! I'm making this blanket to put in a book gift basket for my book club Christmas party.
Thanks for posting this! I want to make my boyfriend a blanket. He’s a Marine and I got the USMC fleece from Joann’s. 🥰

I use your video each time I make a blanket. It’s really the best video! Thank you!
Great, easy tutorial! Best one for mitered corners! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!

Even though i can sew well enough i did not know how to do satin binding..thank you so much
You're welcome Linda!
I can’t wait to make my blanket using your method.
Yay! Thanks for watching. 😊

That’s a possibility, you just need to mind the heat on fleece
I have found that on corners, I make sure the folded corners are opposite so that the miters lay more flat and doesn’’t get lumpy
That’s great! Thank you

So helpful! Thank you!
Very nice ❤
Yes
Could this be used with a flannel type material instead of fleece?
Yes it will work!
Thank you
Sooo soft!!!!
Yes - great for snuggling under!
Any tips as to stop the back of the satin from slipping while I sew the top half? It’s giving me the biggest headache

@@FleeceFun thank you so much!
@@FleeceFun What is a walking door?
Ah autocorrect so sorry. Walking foot on the sewing machine

So you don't pin the satin trim onto the fleece at all? I'm afraid of the fleece slipping out as I sew. I don't have a walking foot.
I'm going to try using bobby pins, as I don't have clips
