I truly thought you were going to turn the flange piece, like a quilt binding. But this is brilliant and the missing link to sewing with minky!
    Thank you!!!!

Thank you for this video! I bought some flannel and minky to make my son a blanket for Christmas and I was trying to decide on the construction. I was considering sewing them together and flipping it out and using a top stitch, but this finish looks like it will be much nicer!

I can’t wait to try this! I wish I had a quilt store. I will have to get some jumbo Rick rack. I did like both styles. I would love to know what kind of kinky you used. It was so thin. It seemed so usable.

Love this! Can you give some directions to making one that is lap quilt size? My grandchildren are no longer babies ;)

Hi, I don't have specific directions to make it lap-size, but if you increase the size of the fabric you can easily do that. Just make sure that your top and bottom pieces of fabric are the same size, and you can make it as large as you like.

Could you tell me which rotary cutter you use? Thank you!

New here. Your blanket is beautiful. When using flannel on opposite side of minky, do you prewash your fabric first for shrinkage since flannel shrinks?

I’m going to make a blanket with cotton and flannel or cotton and Minky. I know you pre-wash both fabrics, but do you also put them in the dryer before sewing them together? Please let me know, thank you.

I always do and sew them with the bias in the same direction.

PLEASE HELP??? I am making a minky and flannel rag quilt with each square having either 2 layers of minky and 1 flannel piece or 2 flannel and 1 minky piece. I desperately need help figuring out what is the best needle to use on my sewing machine for these 3 layers of fabric and what tension to use? My needles just keep bending. I am using an Organ brand 90/14 universal needle. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong? I am using a walking foot and I do not put any pressure on my fabric while sewing either. Please help?

I don’t know if I can be of help since I’ve never made a rag quilt. My best guess would be to try a microtex needle since they are very sharp and maybe try a walking foot on your machine

Is the Minky that you used stretchy?

All Minky is a little bit stretchy. The one I used has minimal stretch.
