You instructions SAVED me and my quilts. I am a newbie and every time I would try the "pocket method" - I couldn't stuff it in, it would be a HUGE bulk in my binding - so much so, that i was embarrassed to even GIFT 1 of my quilts - then I saw your video where you CUT the edges with a 45D angle - both pieces - YAY! I finally made the almost perfect quilt with almost perfect binding - and all thanks to YOU.
I have to look at a video every time I finish a quilt project. This one, by far, is the easiest one to do. Thank you for the “plain talk” of walking us through this process! I’m not going back the the other way of measuring the tails and folding using the binding tool. Can’t tell you how many times I have needed to rip it out and start over, lol!
Hi there. I'm just a beginner quilter and have been dreading binding my first quilt. But not any more . Your tutorial is wonderful. It's by far the best one I've watched, and I've watched a LOT. So thank you so much. I'm anxious to get started. Thanks again. 😊
It’s easy when you have a big table for sewing. I envy everyone who does. I live in a townhouse/ cardboard box so it’s frustrating to cut anything. Sorry just want to complain to anyone who will listen.😊
I understand. I record these tutorials in my bedroom on one desk. When I cut everything has to come off my desk and the sewing machine goes on the floor 🤗
Chorika, I also live in an apartment but have solved this problem. I got a cutting table at Jo-Ann's that have two sides that fold down for narrow storage. I was able to afford it by using a 60% off coupon at the time of purchase. If you do not have a Jo-Ann's nearby I think you could order it and have it shipped . If you download their app that will get you started. Good luck
I really appreciate you taking the time to show how to set up the sewing of the strips together. It is not as easy to do it perfectly as some folks show. This is very helpful.
I'm so glad you found it helpful, Dorothy! 😊 It's true, getting everything lined up can be tricky, so I'm happy my video was useful. Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment! 🌟
I have come across all these little tips elsewhere before but now you have combined them all into this brilliant tutorial which I can refer to anytime I need a refresher. Many thanks for this.
Great video - well done. I do my bindings this way and the only thing I would add is that when sewing the attached binding down from the front, make sure your top thread matches the binding, and the bobbin thread matches the backing fabric because there will be a visible stitch line around your quilt back NEXT to (away from) the binding.

Oh my goodness, Stacey, I learned so many tips and tricks from you on this video !! My bindings ended up wonky a lot and now I know why and I also know how to fix that. The directions on how to attach the ends of the binding was awesome ! Thank you, thank you, Sweet lady. 🌺
I love this method of binding with the ends meeting up. I've done the diagonal join so many times, I'll have to practice this a few times to get it down. Thank you for a great tutorial.
Stacey, you hit it out of the park again! Excellent video. Love the "tuck in" method instead of long tails that you have to sew together. I always sew it backwards and have to pick it out. LOL
Thank you so much, Del! 😊 I’m glad you loved the “tuck in” method. Haha, I totally get the struggle with long tails! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment! 🌟
Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I am currently sitting on the couch with a quilt I finished with your method. I love this method. I was so frustrated with my own ideas that I threw them out of my head and followed your directions without question. My computer was always close. I love the results. You are in my history never to leave. Again, Thank You
you, my dear, are the best! i just used this video to bind my second ever quilt-- watched it through, then again, pausing every step of the way to do exactly what you show. easy peasy, and turns out that when i know what i'm doing, i actually quite enjoy the binding step-- the grand finale! yay for me! 😁 i've been stalled on this one at the squaring up and binding phase for a couple months, have worked up 4 more quilts in various stages, waiting for the stars to align so i was ready to bind #2-- and turns out, you are the star! thanks!
I just made my first quilt (at 64) and have been looking at youtube videos on how to do binding! Hands down you were on the top of my list! A very close second was someone who did it similarly but started at the front instead of the back. I had intended to find the left compensating foot for my machine, but I can’t find one. That would have ensured some neat stitching lines. But I’m sure I’ll figure something out. I’m at the final step now. Thanks for your helpful video!!!

"It might be a little bit fiddly, but nowhere near as fiddly as joining it on the diagonal as we used to do!" You said it, Stacy! Love this video! Thank you!
That looks like it would be sooo much easier for the binding. I always fight with the final joining of the binding and the corners. Thank you soooomuch for the ideas!!!
Best quilting video ever! Such clear instructions, visuals, no wasted time at any point. You are a terrific teacher and I appreciate this video. It's really a gift
Stacey, if you don't mind my saying so, you have the most elegantly shaped hands that I've seen in many years. Long slim fingers, no big knotty knuckles, no bulging veins, well proportioned, with no bony appearance. Lovely nails. Beautiful, Ma'am. I'm an artist, and I've always noticed things like that.
Thank you for showing me the easiest way to attach binding! I always have trouble with the binding and this video showed me how to take the stress out of attaching and joining the ends without the stress!
My favorite part of Quilt making is the binding. I could do it all day long and I hand stitch. This was a beautifully done video. I love your method of joining.
Your instructions and illustrations are so great it makes me want to start quilting!!! I wish everyone could speak so clearly and add some common sense to their videos like you do.
I would really like to have seen a close up of your finished seam on the front as well as what it looked like on the back. This is so much faster than hand sewing! Thanks for sharing this.❤
@@dcwatashi i use the method only stitch with one of my decorative stitches. Or i line the binding up just up to the first stitching line so it does show as much.
Stacy Lee, I just discovered you as I was scrolling to find some relaxing gospel music to lull me to sleep. LOL! There you were talking about binding quilts! I missed part of the video but I'll keep watching you, help me with binding my quilt. Thank you so much! I appreciate you! You are so kind and patient. I believe I'll learn a lot from you! Thank you on behalf of the other quilters who might be a little shy. May God bless you and keep you close to him, in Jesus' Name.

That was a very good video. I would have liked to have seen where the front stitch ended up sitting on the reverse of it. That seems to be my problem. I can usually see the stitch on the other side and not always in the right spot. Can you show us the back please? TY
Sue, I finish all my quilts this way. When you pull that binding over you have a very narrow binding showing on the reverse side as opposed to if you were doing the traditional method of hand stitching. I use invisible thread in my bobbin (I buy them pre-wound because it is hard to wind them without them getting too tight). With this method your top stitch will not fall onto the binding on the back side because it is so narrow. Stacey used a straight stitch on hers which is very nice. I use a decorative stitch on all mine, usually the serpentine (curvy) stitch. I own a 9mm machine and I love the way the curvy stitch looks on my binding. I have been teaching this method for a few years now and am so glad Stacey did a video. I hope many more people choose this method. Some of us are aging and our hands just won’t do the binding any longer or some are limited with time.
I’m a beginner in quilting. This video instruction seems the easiest to me. We all learn different. You’re a good instructor and your calm voice really helps. Thank you for sharing with us
Using a Creative Grids Clipped Folded Corner Ruler eliminates the need to join binding strips by placing one strip vertically over the other horizontal strip, drawing the diagonal line to stitch on, sewing and cutting a 1/4 inch seam and then cutting off dog ears. Strips (as many as you want at a time) are placed right side up on top of each other. The folded corner ruler is used to cut the ends of the strips diagonally, eliminating dog ears at the same time. It is very simple to join strips as the cut edges fit together with the 1/4 inch seam matching perfectly. Saves so much time and leaves virtually little chance of error. Wouldn’t want to go back to the traditional method.
Thanks, this is great as I don’t want to buy yet another specialized ruler just for binding. Clear directions using what I already have. Keep up the good work
Great video! Never thought of looking for an app to calculate how much binding, backing etc is needed. Downloaded it now and it will be a great help in future. Up to now have always done the calculations the old fashioned way :-) Going to try this binding method with using my stitch-in-a-ditch foot.
Thanks for this suggestion. I never have drawn a line, but I recently bought the ruler you mentioned and that is a way to use it that I had not thought of. Thank you!
Excellant option for finishing the joining of the two ends. Thanks much. I make 2 - 4 quilts a month for charity and this will speed things up a tiny bit. It looks nice and neat.
Your video was my lifesaver! I followed your instructions step by step and I just finished my soon to be born granddaughter’s quilt and the binding came out exactly how I wanted it--all thanks to YOUUUUU!!!!

thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial! I now am a die-hard fan of Stacey Lee Creative! I have struggled long with binding and this method of joining went together so smoothly and easily and gave me confidence to keep quilting!

I watched other videos and still could not bind a quilt. Your video is the best. I can now do binding and it gets easier every time now. Thank you so much for the video. It's the best.
Thank you for showing this method. I always sew my binding from the back first and then bring to the front but have never been shown this method of attaching the binding ends. LOVE IT!
I have always sewn on an antique Singer. I just purchased a Brother and I am in the middle of making a baby quilt, and quilting by using the machine and its walking foot. I was stumped about the binding. Thank you so much for this...this is exactly what I needed!
Today I prepared and sewed on binding to a table runner. I followed your instructions exactly, and everything was just right. Thank you so very much for your carefully planned instructions and attention to detail. Boy! What a relief that this worked! Thanks again, Stacey!!!! Pat
This video is excellent. One of the clearest I ever seen and looks like a method I could do. It just made sense the way you showed. I have a table runner I’ve quilted which will be my first attempt at binding before I bind my first quilt so I’m going to try this method. Thanks for sharing
@@staceyleecreativeI’ve got it all on using the same method however if I sew near the edge of the front binding the stitching on the reverse is on the actual quilt back and not the rear binding and most definitely not in the ditch! Have I done something wrong because I’ve watched multiple times and can’t see that I’ve done anything different. I used the same width binding strips as well 🤔
Love this video. New to quilting and used your tutorial to guide me thru my first quilt. Worked great! Just curious about the reason for starting on the back?

Love your video. You are calm and speak in a speed that allows us to process your instructions. So thankful for your expertise in binding. Love this technique.
I learned so much from your video. The diagonal cut and tuck in the binding is brilliant. Plus, I can’t wait to try starting the binding on the back and flipping to the front. I appreciate how clearly you describe and show each step. Thank you!
This is the best way I have ever seen for binding. & I love this method From what I have seen I couldn’t help notice that you didn’t cut your binding on a bias.i have used binding cut on a bias and some that was.Thank you for sharing his video!
Thank you! I dread fussing with the ends. The spent too much time adjusting, too long or too short, ripping out and redoing . This method is a game changer!
I wish you had shown us the back of the quilt after the binding was finished. I sew my binding on by hand because I don't usually like the way the stitching looks when sewn on by machine. Otherwise, your tutorial was nicely done and very helpful.

I did my binding like this with the very first quilt I ever made. Before I knew how you're "supposed to" do it. I tried with my next 2 quilts to finish it how it's traditionally done and I ended up having to rip seams, reattach extra fabric, etc. It was a nightmare! This is such an awesome method and your quilt looks beautiful! Thanks for sharing!

Oh my goodness, Stacey, I learned so many tips and tricks from you on this video !! My bindings ended up wonky a lot and now I know why and I also know how to fix that. The directions on how to attach the ends of the binding was awesome ! Thank you, thank you, Sweet lady. 🌺
That's awesome Teresa! I am glad you found it helpful! 😊
Yes! How to attach the ends, and cutting the beginning binding piece on the 45⁰ angle is a total game changer!
I love this method of binding with the ends meeting up. I've done the diagonal join so many times, I'll have to practice this a few times to get it down. Thank you for a great tutorial.
Awesome Priscilla, I am glad you liked this technique! I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 😊
Again, Thank You
You are so welcome Chelsea! Thanks so much for watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 🤗
This is the best and easiest binding video I've seen.It looks simple to do and also looks great when finished.Thank you!
Awesome - I am glad you like it! Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment ☺️
you, my dear, are the best! i just used this video to bind my second ever quilt-- watched it through, then again, pausing every step of the way to do exactly what you show. easy peasy, and turns out that when i know what i'm doing, i actually quite enjoy the binding step-- the grand finale! yay for me! 😁
i've been stalled on this one at the squaring up and binding phase for a couple months, have worked up 4 more quilts in various stages, waiting for the stars to align so i was ready to bind #2-- and turns out, you are the star! thanks!
So awesome! Sorry for the late reply. I’m happy you found my video so helpful 🤗
That's wonderful - welcome to the wonderful world of quilting! You might like to check out my other videos which are all made for the beginner in mind. You might also like my free 5 week learn to quilt course: www.stacey-lee.com/2020/12/21/quilt-club-with-stacey-lee/
"It might be a little bit fiddly, but nowhere near as fiddly as joining it on the diagonal as we used to do!" You said it, Stacy! Love this video! Thank you!
Exactly Barbara! Thanks for watching 🤗
I agree. This way is easier.
I can not believe how complicated other people have made this process. Thank you for giving me the courage to continue with my quilt. Well done!
I’m glad you found it helpful! Thanks so much for leaving a comment 🙏
That looks like it would be sooo much easier for the binding. I always fight with the final joining of the binding and the corners. Thank you soooomuch for the ideas!!!
Awesome Kim! I am glad you found it helpful! 😊
Best quilting video ever! Such clear instructions, visuals, no wasted time at any point. You are a terrific teacher and I appreciate this video. It's really a gift
Wow, thank you for the sweetest comment ever!
Ha ha I actually enjoy binding now-- amazing! And the finish comes out so beautifully and professional looking @@staceyleecreative
The join looks SO MUCH LESS COMPLICATED than other methods. Thank you!!
You are so welcome! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it ❤️
I always hand sew my binding - it is the only hand sewing I do on my quilts and I love it but I may have to give this a try. Thanks!
Hi! I think hand sewing is the tidiest 🤗
That’s so sweet of you to say - thanks so much ❤️
Perfect instructions 😊
She does!
Love your videos
Thank
you for showing me the easiest way to attach binding! I always have trouble with the binding and this video showed me how to take the stress out of attaching and joining the ends without the stress!
That's so awesome! So happy that binding can be stress free for you now! Thank you for your support!
My favorite part of Quilt making is the binding. I could do it all day long and I hand stitch. This was a beautifully done video. I love your method of joining.
Thank you so much! Thanks for watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 🤗
Your instructions and illustrations are so great it makes me want to start quilting!!! I wish everyone could speak so clearly and add some common sense to their videos like you do.
Thank you so much! I appreciate your kind comment 🤗
Sew it on from the front, and then hand stitch it on the back to finish it off!
Great idea Kathy!
I will share some pics on my community page of the stitches and the back
Very easy to follow, informative video! Your accent is so pleasant to listen to!
Thanks so much! I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 🤗
Thank you for this tutorial! I absolutely hate adding the binding! This sewing it on is a life saver ❤ LOVE 💕 IT!
Awesome - I am glad you like it 🤗 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment ❤️
I’m so glad you found me. Please do check out my other videos too. Thanks for the sweet comment 🙏 I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment ❤️
That was a very good video. I would have liked to have seen where the front stitch ended up sitting on the reverse of it. That seems to be my problem. I can usually see the stitch on the other side and not always in the right spot. Can you show us the back please? TY
Hi Sue, do you follow me on Instagram? I can share a pic there. You could use thread to blend in with the backing to help it not be as noticeable 😊
Thank you, You’re such a great teacher! 😀💝
Wow this is a game changer for me I hate hand stitching the binding
I’m a beginner in quilting. This video instruction seems the easiest to me. We all learn different. You’re a good instructor and your calm voice really helps. Thank you for sharing with us
Thank you so much! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it 🤗
She does have a lovely voice, doesn't she?
Thank you so much Stacey! I do hate the binding part but with your tutorial I’m gonna finishing my quilts as a pro 🎉❤💪💕
Hey Tamara! Thanks so much, I am glad you liked it 😊
This was SO helpful, thank you! The camera angle made it so I could see everything so well and understand exactly what you were doing!
I'm so glad it was helpful for you! 😊 It's great to hear that the camera angle worked well and made everything clear. Happy sewing! 🌟
Hi Jean, I hadn't heard about this ruler, thanks for telling me about it. I will go and check it out now 😊
I use it all the time.
Glad it was helpful! I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment ❤
Great video!! Love that fabric! 🧵🪡✂️💕
Thanks so much Sandra! I appreciate you watching my video and leaving a comment, it means a lot to me 😊
Your video was my lifesaver! I followed your instructions step by step and I just finished my soon to be born granddaughter’s quilt and the binding came out exactly how I wanted it--all thanks to YOUUUUU!!!!
That is awesome! Thanks so much for the sweet comment. Congratulations on the new baby on the way.
THANK YOU! This is so much easier!❤
Awesome! I’m glad you liked my video 🤗
Excellent instructions! I used your directions and made a self binding baby blanket and I am now obsessed.
Great job Jan! Thanks so much for watching my videos ❤️
Hi Stacey,
So glad I found your video, I have stopped and started your video so that I could sew along with you. I found this so helpful, I have been procrastinating finishing my quilt. After seeing your video I have a sense of accomplishment! Thank you so much from North Carolina/USA
That is so awesome Linda! I am glad you found it helpful! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it ❤
❤ I don’t know if I’m hearing the accent correctly but now I’m in the mood to watch Brokenwood Mysteries while I sew 😂. Great video and very helpful - thank you!
Haha - you picked it right! Thanks for watching 🤗
thank you SO MUCH for this tutorial! I now am a die-hard fan of Stacey Lee Creative! I have struggled long with binding and this method of joining went together so smoothly and easily and gave me confidence to keep quilting!
Wow thanks so much for the sweetest comment ever! I appreciate you! ❤❤❤
This video popped up just as I was about to bind 25 wall hanging for a family reunion. That joining trick has saved my life and sanity. You’re my hero! I ❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks so much! I’m glad it was helpful 🤗
I watched other videos and still could not bind a quilt. Your video is the best. I can now do binding and it gets easier every time now. Thank you so much for the video. It's the best.
That's awesome - love it! Thanks so much for watching and taking the time to leave a comment, I really appreciate it ❤
Thank you for showing this method. I always sew my binding from the back first and then bring to the front but have never been shown this method of attaching the binding ends. LOVE IT!
Thanks so much Christina - I appreciate you leaving a comment 🤗
I hate binding till now you are so good at explaining this I think I'll be back to binding my quilts again Thank you so much
You are so welcome! Glad you found it helpful! 😄
I have always sewn on an antique Singer. I just purchased a Brother and I am in the middle of making a baby quilt, and quilting by using the machine and its walking foot. I was stumped about the binding. Thank you so much for this...this is exactly what I needed!
Thanks so awesome - I’m glad it was helpful. I would love an antique singer, they are beautiful 😍
Finally!! A way to join the binding ends that makes sense to me and i can actually do. Thank you.
Thanks so much! Here’s a video if you would like to see the back of the quilt ruclips.net/video/4ge_yBtL_e4/видео.htmlsi=fh__RTxf8q84okh_
Complete game changer. I no longer hate binding my quilts
Yay! Happy to hear it. 🤗
Today I prepared and sewed on binding to a table runner. I followed your instructions exactly, and everything was just right. Thank you so very much for your carefully planned instructions and attention to detail. Boy! What a relief that this worked! Thanks again, Stacey!!!! Pat
Yay Pat! I love to hear that it went well for you 🤗
This video is excellent. One of the clearest I ever seen and looks like a method I could do. It just made sense the way you showed. I have a table runner I’ve quilted which will be my first attempt at binding before I bind my first quilt so I’m going to try this method. Thanks for sharing
You’re so welcome! I’m happy it’s a method you feel confident trying! ❤️
I used the same width binding strips as well 🤔
This is how I do my bindings. I really prefer this method as it gives the front of the quilt a more precise edge stitch. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, I like the precise edge finish too! I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment, it means a lot to me! 😍
Love this video. New to quilting and used your tutorial to guide me thru my first quilt. Worked great! Just curious about the reason for starting on the back?
First time making a quilt. I do sew but, for the past decade mostly garments.
Thanks so much for such a clear and detailed tutorial! My quilt turned out so nicely. I loved your fabric choices. 😊
Wonderful! I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment 🤗
This is the best quilt binding video that I have ever seen!!! Thank you!
Thanks so much for your sweet comment! I appreciate you watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment 😊
This video is the best I have seen, and makes binding so much easier! Thanks so much!
I’m so glad you found it helpful! 😊 Thanks for watching and leaving such a kind comment!
Love your video. You are calm and speak in a speed that allows us to process your instructions. So thankful for your expertise in binding. Love this technique.
Thank you so much for your sweet comment 🤗
I love this new binding technique.. so much easier than the traditional way. Thank you
Thanks so much 🤗 I appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment ❤️
I learned so much from your video. The diagonal cut and tuck in the binding is brilliant. Plus, I can’t wait to try starting the binding on the back and flipping to the front. I appreciate how clearly you describe and show each step. Thank you!
That’s awesome Tammy I am so glad you found it helpful 🤗 Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment ❤️
I actually like binding my quilts. I even handstitch the folded edge on the back. It just gives me the satisfaction of finishing another quilt.😊
That's awesome - hand finishing them really is the nicest way to finish the binding. Thanks for watching and taking the time to leave a comment ❤
This is the best way I have ever seen for binding. & I love this method From what I have seen I couldn’t help notice that you didn’t cut your binding on a bias.i have used binding cut on a bias and some that was.Thank you for sharing his video!
Thanks so much for watching. I only do biased binding when going around corners 🤩
Thank you! I dread fussing with the ends. The spent too much time adjusting, too long or too short, ripping out and redoing . This method is a game changer!
You’re so welcome! I’m glad this method saved you some time and frustration! 😊
I wish you had shown us the back of the quilt after the binding was finished. I sew my binding on by hand because I don't usually like the way the stitching looks when sewn on by machine. Otherwise, your tutorial was nicely done and very helpful.
Here's the back: ruclips.net/video/4ge_yBtL_e4/видео.html
Best Binding video out there. So clearly explained and can see what is being done really clearly. Bravo!
Glad you enjoyed it! I always enjoy hearing that my videos are easy to follow, thank you for the comment!
Thank you so much for showing how you correct issues that we will probably see! Like the binding not being exactly at the corner. Wonderful explanations and camera angles! I can see everything! Well Done!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks so much for watching ☺️
I love this how too! Binding has been so confusing and difficult. This looks so much easier . Thank You Stacey. I love your how to videos.
Yay! I am glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching my video and taking the time to leave a comment, I appreciate your support ☺️

You are an excellent instructor on binding quilts. The video is excellent! Thank you.
Thank you so much Patricia! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment, and please do check out some of my other videos, I think you might like them too ☺️
I did my binding like this with the very first quilt I ever made.
I’m glad it was helpful! Just do what works best for you when quilting. 🤗
I appreciate this tutioral heaps Stacey. It always made me nervous as i like the binder to be perfectly neat. Your instructions are clear and you tone is so pleasant.😊❤
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for taking the time to leave a comment 🤗
I am new to quilting and to be honest, the binding scared me to death. But after watching your video, I am now feeling much, much better about it all. Looks like I will have to buy more fabric now so that I can keep on quilting. Thank you for sharing this with us
I'm so happy I was able to help! Binding is nothing to fear, you got this! Thank you for taking the time to comment!
Thank you so much for this video! I’ve struggled with binding. It was so easy to follow the directions. Keeping this video to do all my quilts.

really clear instructions and easy to see what you are talking about - one of the best basic binding tutorials I have seen
Thanks so much, I appreciate you watching my video and your kind words ☺️
