I did not wash the fabric for the top, the flannel, or the gauze before hand - I waited until it was all quilted and bound and it washed up perfectly. I washed with COLD water, dried with cool "heat" partially and let air dry the rest of the way. When I have worked with Minky I use my walking foot…less puckering a smoother result. Love the Press n’ Seal! I have to take most of my quilts to Longarmer when they are big…so putting a half inch seam putting the backing together is standard request. They also only allow Shannon Fabric brand Minky or just forget about it. Looking forward to the watching you quilt this…Ok one last thing consider that Raspberry color binding …the polka dots are cute more pink is just making it so washed out in color. I enjoy watching sewing journeys we all go through.

    Please go over tension on the longarm when you quilt the minky. I tried soooooo many times and could not get the bottom of the quilt right--the stitches were too loose no matter what I did. THANKS!!

    Traci HELP! Ive loaded my minky backing on my long arm. I need reassurance that not using a batting is okay! Did you just do a meander or could I use a pantograph. I'm thinking the panto would make it too stiff. Its a baby's blanket and I want soft and cuddly.

    Please please please add info about prewashing the flannel in the video description. I didn't watch the next video to not get ahead of myself and now made the exact same mistake of not prewashing the flannel.

    My first time using Minky was challenging because I got the quilt sandwich all bunched up. My old Bernina 820 just gobbled it up. I didn't realize what happened until I tried to flatten it all out. Picking all those Minky layers was a LOT of fun. Needless to say, when I use Minky now, I baste with spray and keep it as flat as possible! 😊

    Did you WASH YOUR FLANNEL?

    • @TheSewingChannel
      @TheSewingChannel  Год назад +4

      No I didn't prewash any of the fabric for this quilt...I will wash it when it's all done✅

      @@TheSewingChannel GOOD LUCK. Cotton flannel will drastically shrink when it is washed. That is the only fabric is will pre wash.

    I've never heard of minky and you keep mentioning it. What is it?

    • @TheSewingChannel
      @TheSewingChannel  Год назад +1

      It's a soft cuddle type fabric...think of soft furry stuff✅

      @@TheSewingChannel Ah, I see it is a plush fleece - I've never sewn it and imagine it would work-up like jersey/stretch poly.
