I have a cotton top and double thick (both sides fuzzy)fuzzy minky type stretchy fabric. I’m thinking walking foot and 4.0 stitch. It’s a 50 x 60 -will the press and seal work on that? I mean it’s pretty big compared to your project. Thanks for the help! 🙏🏼
Hi, I personally haven’t tried it using a double thick fuzzy minky. But if I was, I would test it on some of that double fuzzy scrap fabric to see if it would work before trying it on your big project. If it works on that then I would definitely use a walking foot and 4.0 stitch length and also I would cut the fuzzy minky at least 4 inches bigger all the way around than the cotton fabric so the press NSeal has a bigger area to attach to and keep the double thick minky more stable. Hi Robin, New subscriber here. I'm a lifetime sometimes sewer though inexperienced with fancy machines and techniques. Can you explain a bit about what the special needle and walking foot do? Also are these something I can use on my basic Brother machine? I have a lot of trouble with fabric creeping on itself when sewing. Thanks, Dan Scott
Hi Dan, Thank you so much! welcome to my channel.🤗 The 90/14 Stretch needle is used with medium weight stretch fabrics, elastic materials and highly elastic knitwear. The medium ball point, specially designed eye and scarf prevent skipped stitches and make sewing stretch fabrics so much easier. The walking foot evenly feeds layers of fabric through the machine while sewing. The walking foot grips onto the top layer of fabric and helps move it under the needle at the same pace that the machine's feed dogs are moving the bottom layer of fabric. Which makes sewing easier. Really helps stop the creeping fabric problem. Especially if you combine it with my PressNSeal hack. Yes, your brother machine should have a walking foot for it. Check your manual or look online for a walking foot for your specific model Brother sewing machine. Yes, your brother will have a 90/14 stretch needle that fits your machine. Hope this helps.🤗 Happy sewing!

Hi Sheila, I have not tried doing Minky squares the same size. Only blankets. the only downside to it is that if you are making a garment (like pajamas) you need to stretch as you sew, so that the garment will stretch as needed when worn.
@@RobynsLoveofSewing I am currently piecing together scraps of fleece to make winter hats to give away. I have a whole tote full of fleece scraps too small to make anything else, all leftover from other projects. I will likely donate them to the Food pantry or some such service organization.
@@RobynsLoveofSewing once you start making pajamas it's hard to stop! I get my patterns by going to thrift shops and buying worn out footed PJs and taking them apart. You cut the front in one piece and apply the zipper face down on the wrong side from center front angled down one of the legs. Stitch around the zipper, flip it over and cut through the front right over the zipper teeth. Voila, you have put the zipper in: no need for a turned edge, a placket opening, or to otherwise finish the edges of the zipper opening because it is fleece and it won't fray. So right there, your pattern cost only $3 instead of $20, and installing the zipper, which is the most intimidating thing in footed PJs, is easy-peasy. Zig-zagging in a piece of elastic across the ankles isn't hard, or you can cut the feet off and cuff the ankles For the feet, if the child is walking I use rubber shelf-lining to make the soles slip-proof. I cut the tops off of a pair of socks to cuff the sleeves, and another pair of socks can be sacrificed to cuff the ankles if you don't want them to be footed.
I was almost ready to give you a score of 100% but I have to downgrade you to 99.7 lol because you didn’t tell us what type of thread you were using which is just as crucial as everything else. You are one of the very very few on RUclips who bother to give us the stitch length and the type of needle. That’s one of my biggest pet peeves. When I bought my Juki and was doing the test drive, the dealer told me that it’s named a walking foot for a reason. 😆😆 You are not supposed to sew fast with a walking foot .LOL 🤣 Should you do something similar to this in the future I am suggesting that you use a contrasting thread color so that we can see the stitches but you have to hold it up to the camera and give it a chance to adjust the auto focus
Thank you so much dcwatashi! 🤗💗 Thank you for your suggestions and tips. Good ideas! Love what the dealer said about the walking foot! Lol Have a sew blessed day!🤗💗🌸

@@donnadelbrocco4050Hi Donna, I don’t think you would need it to topstitch the finished blanket. I didn’t use it to topstitch only just to sew back fabric to front fabric. Hope this helps.😊
@@donnadelbrocco4050 Also Donna, did you see my other video where I show step by step how to use pressNSeal making a baby blanket with Minky and Flannel? ruclips.net/video/fLSyKPA8yAQ/видео.htmlsi=5FSEzU8qXuZ8xOoR
Dose the press seal wash out
I have not tried that. I remove it after sewing. I show you how I remove it in this video ruclips.net/video/fLSyKPA8yAQ/видео.htmlsi=pluelAEijHZwD9Zm If you try washing it out let me know if it works, please.Thank you for watching!🤗
Have a sew blessed day! 🩷🌸
Can you reused the press and seal on other fabrics
Hi Debra, If the PressNseal is still sticky you probably could. But I have not tried that. Sorry. Thank you for watching!🤗💗
which side do you keep on the bottom when you topstitch ?
Hi Cynthia, I topstitched with the cotton fabric on top and stretchy fabric on the bottom. Thank you so much for watching!🤗💗
I watched per your invite. Interesting. Thanks for the invite.
Thank you Suzie.🤗💗
Would this trick work with a serger?
Sadly, she missed answering that question because that’s exactly my question.
Just try on a sample and see what happens.
Hi Sue, sorry it took so long to answer, but I wanted to test it before answering your question. But when I went to test it I couldn’t find any of my minky! But I finally tested it today and it worked on my serger. I only tested a 6 “ x 8” piece of minky with a 5”x7” cotton fabric using pressnseal and it went through my serger fine.

@@RobynsLoveofSewing Thank you so much for responding. Because I think my neighbor wants me to do another minke blanket, God I hope not lol
the only downside to it is that if you are making a garment (like pajamas) you need to stretch as you sew, so that the garment will stretch as needed when worn.
Thanks for the info. I have only used it to make blankets. Thank you for watching.🤗💗
@@RobynsLoveofSewing I am currently piecing together scraps of fleece to make winter hats to give away. I have a whole tote full of fleece scraps too small to make anything else, all leftover from other projects. I will likely donate them to the Food pantry or some such service organization.
@@abeal49 What a great idea to use your scraps for! Thank you for sharing!🤗💗
Zig-zagging in a piece of elastic across the ankles isn't hard, or you can cut the feet off and cuff the ankles
For the feet, if the child is walking I use rubber shelf-lining to make the soles slip-proof. I cut the tops off of a pair of socks to cuff the sleeves, and another pair of socks can be sacrificed to cuff the ankles if you don't want them to be footed.
@@abeal49 What a lot of great ideas you have! That’s sew amazing! Love your tips! Thank you for sharing!🤗💗
You are not supposed to sew fast with a walking foot .LOL 🤣
Should you do something similar to this in the future I am suggesting that you use a contrasting thread color so that we can see the stitches but you have to hold it up to the camera and give it a chance to adjust the auto focus
Thank you so much dcwatashi! 🤗💗 Thank you for your suggestions and tips. Good ideas! Love what the dealer said about the walking foot! Lol Have a sew blessed day!🤗💗🌸
@@RobynsLoveofSewing So did you use polyester thread?
Yes, I used polyester thread. Oops sorry , I forgot to answer that question.🤗

Hi Lynn! Thank you!🤗💗
