Thank you for the tips! I promised my daughter a tigger costume and bought such nice fur!! Then realized I have no idea how to sew with it and it was WAY too expensive to wing it 😂 these tips have given me a bit more confidence. Wish me luck though! 😅
Thank you from an old gal.(72) I have all the extras you mentioned but the only ones I used were very large washers I bought years ago. I will definitely be using my applique scissors and clips. You are great!!!!! BTW I was so happy you included Sherpa cause that's what I'm using!!!!!!
I could not be happier I found you!!!!!! I am sewing with a very long faux fur for the first time and need to do it without the trial-n-error time frame so your information will be extremely helpful- And I am not a clean-as-I-go person, but I will definitely make the effort for this. Thanks so much for your channel!!
I THANK YOU FOR SUCH A CLEAR DEMO I WAS IN NEED OF THIS AND THE SPECIAL SCISSORS WILL REALLY CHANGE MY FAUX FUR SEWING THANK YOU VERY MUCH YOU ARE A GOOD TEACHER
This is exactkt what I needed! Trying to make a stuffed animal for the first time and the diuble sided fluff was getting caught under the foot and made a knotted mess since it wouldnt move. Never knew walking foots existed or that pins weren't going to be the best option!
Do you have a video on sewing a lining in Faux fur where top and bottom are stitched? Have a project for grand kids and they want something like a hand muff
thank you for that great video, very helpful. i am looking for sherpa fabric, i have bought some but it's very poor quality. Can you recommend any online shop where i could find some like the one you are showing. thank you
Thank you for the great tips and your time! I have a question... I'm making a Sherpa ghost for Halloween and want to use black Sherpa for the eyes. Obviously, small, oval shapes probably about 1.5 x 2 inches in size. The Sherpa is fraying, practically falling apart when cutting such a small piece. Is there something I can do to make this easier? Thanks so much. Gayle
Most of these fabrics are a fairly loose knit by necessity, so that there is room between the knit stitches that make up the fabric for the extra fibers. Therefore they're not conducive to small piecing without adding interfacing or fray check or something else to support it. That will stabilize the backing, but there's not a lot you can do about the fibers falling off the cut edges. This probably isn't the best fabric for what you're trying to do.
You are awesome. Thank you for this video... Male guy trying hard to figure out Christmas for his boys...
You are so welcome!

13:44 you could use a pet slicker brush to pull fibers out of your stiching. Speeds up the process quite a bit.
That’s an idea.
Thank you

In the UK, we call the “side by side” fabric stitch a “flat lock” seam.
This is what I refer to as flat locking, a specialty stitch done on a serger. mellysews.com/flatlock-serger-overlocker-sew-flatlock-seam/

Check my channel for my scrunchies video. It would be a similar process with different rectangle dimensions.

I'd probably use an invisible zipper. mellysews.com/sew-invisible-zipper/
can you let me know if cutting fabric lined with sherpa is done the same way you showed
Yes, you'd want to pay attention to the nap of the sherpa.

Yes, that could be helpful

It can
U rock 🤘❤️🔥

I was wondering why zigzag and not straight stitch?
Because you need a stretch stitch if you're sewing stretchy fabric mellysews.com/types-stretch-stitches-sewing-knits/
What thw jwck is Cuddle minki? I jave the fabric tho cause it looked the same as mine I cant even spell it! Cuddleminki?
Cuddle minky - it's that fuzzy one with raised dots. Cuddle is a brand name for this type of fabric.
Thank so much! That was really helpful.
