    Nice explanation of a walking foot. I've never used one, but can see how helpful they'd be. You helped me give it some thought.

    Thank you so much for this video! My machine also has a snap-on foot & I could not work out how to attach the walking foot that came with it. Your explanation & demonstration have solved that problem for me & I am so very grateful to you! Thanks again 😊

    I keep my 'walking foot' on my machine for 95% of everything I sew, only change to 'zipper foot' for example if I am sewing on a zipper or piping, Love my 'Walking Foot'

    Today I put my new walking foot on my machine and it is exactly the same as yours. I think I did it the right way and it worked. Just one thing, I had a really hard time getting the fabric under the foot because the top ‘teeth’ go through the foot so it leaves a very narrow space for the fabric. I hope you understand what I mean and maybe even know what I am doing wrong? The stitching was perfect with very stretchy fabric so I really want to understand this foot 😊 Thanks!

    It’s a very useful article.I have a question.With walking foot , they supply one another bar with (like a V shape) attached another piece. It’s one connected pcs .
    I don’t know where it goes. With another u tube video, I see that but nobody saws where it goes, what is the use etc,
    Thanks in advance

      I don't understand your question. I'd suggest doing a google search for your specific machine manual.

      @@Mellysews there is a little stick/bar thing that comes separately with the walking foot. What is it used for?

    • @boxgirl51
      @boxgirl51 Год назад +1

      I think you are referring to a quilting bar, to measure the distance between rows of quilting, which you can adjust. I pay attention to the bar Instead of the needle while quilting .

    Can you do zigzag with walking foot?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  Год назад +1

      It depends on the width of your stitch and the width of the needle hole in your specific presser foot.

    Great explanation. I noticed you didn’t back stitch. Is that not necessary with a walking foot to secure the stitches?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  16 дней назад

      Backstitching isn't generally needed for any seam that will be crossed by another line of stitching.

  • @niccidee782

    What is the general tension, width of stitch (say for knits) and length? And why would mine cause a skip or two in the bobbin under-stitch?

    • @Mellysews
      @Mellysews  Год назад

      It very much depends on your machine and fabric.

    Great tutorial.
    The one issue I find often is that the fabric is getting caught on the walking foot just behind the the plate and wants to bunch up unless I tug it through?
