Interesting list and enjoyed your insights and comments. Fellow Canadian here, I'm a massive Overkill fan since 89' Saw them live only once but it was epic. Had a meet and great before the show in Edmonton back in 2016. I was about 8 feet away from Blitz and Links. Sound was incredible so good live! Years of Decay is also my favourite and as you mentioned Skullkrusher is the heaviest thrash riff ever, never gets old!
I can’t wait to see them open for King Diamond Nov 21, are you going to the Edmonton show this time? I’m just getting things in order for an updated Overkill ranking, that will be my next video. Hope to chat with you again 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
I overlooked The Gathering for years but have grown to like it a lot over the past few years. Not too many surprises here, but that is not a surprise having got to know you! Some killer bands and some killer albums!
Thrash bands I enjoyed seeing live in no order: Slayer Overkill Kreator Testament Death Angel Megadeth Dark Angel Metallica Flotsam and Jetsam Vio- lence
That’s cool! I really love that album & from the newer stuff The Evil Divide is still my favourite! Hope you’re having a great week so far 🤘 Cheers Marco
Great choice for a topic to share Darcy here is my list Testament - New Order....with you on The Gathering too such a great 90s album The rest aren't in order Overkill - Horroscope Megadeth - Peace Sells Slayer - Seasons....Divine is killer too Exodus - Tempo Sodom - Agent Orange Kreator - Terrible Certainty Annihilator - Never Neverland Forbidden - Twisted Into Form Destruction - Release from Agony Metallica have dropped away for me.....Ride the Lightning will always be my favourite....Load has some cool riffs that I jam once in a while.....cheers dude 🍻🍻🍻
Hey Darcy, great idea here, for me, my Top 4 is pretty solid, but the next 6 might be a bit fluid, and the year I discovered them: 1 - Overkill, 1985 2 - Dark Angel, 1986 3 - Metallica, 1984 4 - Anthrax, 1985 5 - Metal Church, 1985 6 - Megadeth, 1985 7 - Kreator, 1986 8 - Testament, 1987 9 - Exodus, 1985 10-Artillery, 1986 I have followed 1-4 all the way since discovering them (tho missed 1 Anthrax) 5, 7-9 I kind of fell off in the early- mid 90's, 6 & 10 I followed thru 1999, 5 & 10 I have gotten back into over the past 5 years, where 6-9 are very scattered. Cheers 🤘🍺
Great Topic. Bought albums below on or very close to release date. Fantastic releases to this day. 1. Metallica - Ride the Lightning 2. Slayer - Reign in Blood 3. Testament - The Legacy 4. Flotsam & Jetsam - No Place for Disgrace 5. Overkill - Taking Over 6. Sepultura - Arise 7. Megadeth - Peace sells but who's buying 8. Destruction - Infernal Overkill 9. Sodom - Persecution Mania 10. Exodus - Bonded by Blood Mention: Kreator - Pleasure to Kill
Testament! YESSSS! I've been slacking on my thrash lately. I don't slack on Testament though. :) I would like to find some newer thrash bands, if there are any, which I am sure they are out there. Just finding them. Anthrax. I love Sound of White Noise. S.O.D is pretty awesome if you haven't listened to them. Sure you have....
Good list Darcy! I would include Destruction (Sentence of Death) and Possession (seven churches) in there maybe some Celtic Frost too. maybe I will make a video too! I got into thrash as it came out too in the 80s.. killer time for tunes. Cheers man!
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Careful what you wish for, you might have become disillusioned when COMA OF SOULS came out, sold your collection, and got into grunge, and I don't think SMELLS LIKE TEEN DARCEY is a very good name for a YT channel LOL
Hi Darcy!!! that was an awesome idea, video, list, bands and albums too...... i got a little late to the german bands and yes they were kind of little extreme for me, back in the day.... and then discover bands from "other" countries. You really need to do a part II and show more bands (honourable mention). cheers and be well
Heck yeah, super solid list! Every band is worthy of a top ten and my list would unsurprisingly look pretty similar (with Anthrax sitting atop the pile). The Flotsam and Jetsam inclusion intrigues the heck out of me given that I haven't explored their entire catalog. I have Doomsday and No Place and their last three releases, all of which are fantastic, but nothing in between. Given your track record of introducing me to awesome bands, I may have to check out some of that "middle section" of their catalog.
Glad you mentioned "The Gathering" and "The Atrocity Exhibition-Exhibit A". Those are my favorites for those 2 bands. I see quite a few people talking about The Gathering, but few talk about The Atrocity Exhibition as a favorite. Here's what I have: Slayer-Reign in Blood Metallica-Master of Puppets Megadeth-Rust in Peace Anthrax-Persistence of Time Testament-The Gathering Overkill-Horrorscope Exodus-The Atrocity Exhibition-Exhibit A Sodom-Agent Orange Flotsam & Jetsam-No Place for Disgrace Death Angel-The Ultra-Violence
Some great bands for your Thrash list Darcy! I would have almost all these in my list too, maybe Sepultura and Death Angel in there for me. Some interesting picks from their catalogues too, love The Gathering by Testament and Exhibit A by Exodus. Divine Intervention is such an overlooked gem by Slayer, it's as good as Seasons for me. Nice one man 🤘🏻🤘🏻
I admire that you could actually narrow it down to 10 bands. That would be impossible for me lol. But as of this moment, my Top 10 albums would be as follows: 1. Megadeth - Peace Sells...But Who's Buying? 2. Heathen - Victims Of Deception 3. Morbid Saint - Spectrum Of Death 4. Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal 5. Testament - The Legacy 6. Exumer - Possesed By Fire 7. Kreator - Terrible Certainty 8. Demolition Hammer - Tortured Existence 9. Xentrix - Shattered Existence 10. Sodom - Tapping The Vein This list will be different tomorrow lol Cheers!!
I just heard from Jürgen that Tapping The Vein is going to be re-issued, I cannot wait to pick that one up! Thanks for sharing your list, have some killer albums on it! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Mr.D
@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I know you get a million recommendations on your channel. I don't recall you ever mentioning them, but I'd be legit shocked if you didn't like Dark Angel.
Just picked up endorama on vinyl yesterday. I had the cd. I'm going to give it another chance. I'm looking forward to seeing testament kreator and possessed when they come to Michigan. Another great video. Thanks
Great list, I’m a little surprised that I didn’t see Annihilator on your list🤷♂️ Metallica would obviously be at the top of my list even though I always thought that they were more of an Americanized NWOBHM band with some thrash songs.
Awesome picks Darcy. M-16 was my first Sodom album and still ranks among my favourite thrash albums. Agent Orange is excellent as well. Can't wait for the new Flotsam and Jetsam to be out. Have a great headbanging week my friend🤘.
Great video, I can't argue with any of your picks! I love every band you showed but haven't heard every album by each, will have to check out quite a few of the albums you mentioned. My top 10 would be pretty similar to be honest, but I would probably swap out Exodus, Anthrax & Flotsam and Jetsam for Voivod, Sepultura and either Sadus or Coroner. Of course there are a ton of others that are close! Always enjoy your appearances on Heavy Metallurgy but haven't gotten around to checking out very much on your channel. Glad I finally did! Cheers from a fellow Canadian metalhead! 🤘🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Ugh, tell me about it. I'm in mid/northern BC so completely surrounded by smoke and fires, including one that's about 10km from my town. Hope things cool down soon and we get some rain. I did just check out Shadowlands from Kreator, cool stuff! I like the mix of thrash and more gothic style, pretty unique. Thanks for taking the time to reply! Will definitely be checking out some more of your videos soon.
I got into thrash a couple of years later than you in 88 but we have a lot of the same favourites which some I discovered a bit later on. All killer no filler man🤘😝🤘
Thrash is my favorite genre, just ahead of Power Metal. Love your picks, The Legacy is phenomenal, Formation of Damnation is my favorite of their's, Paul Bostaph went off on the kit. Megadeth's latest blew me away as well, can't wait for the follow-up Lot of Thrash albums that I truly love, picking ten was very hard but I think I've got a good set. Metallica - Ride The Lightning Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying? Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss Exodus - Tempo of the Damned Sodom - M-16 Forbidden - Forbidden Evil Testament - Formation of Damnation Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare Pantera - Cowboys from Hell Sepultera - Beneath the Remains Cheers mate, absolutely love me some Thrash!
Cool idea for a video. I won´t tell you my fave Thrash bands (well, you might know them anyway...) because that would probably ruin future streams on Mike´s channel, hahaha.... I had a blast last Friday night and hope to do that again! The OG vinyl of Exodus "Exhibit A" indeed has the actual cover of the CD inlay, not what´s on the O card.
Great video Darcy! I can't argue with your list. Taste may vary, but who dislike The Legacy, Ride the Lightning or Peace Sells? Anyway, difficult to limit yourself to 10 groups, when you have to miss such great bands as Coroner / Annihilator / Death Angel. Being myself first a "heavy metal" guy, I quickly discovered Thrash Metal mid-eighties and fell in love with it. After listening to Thrash Metal for more than 35 years, my top 10 would be as follow: 1. Coroner (Mental Vortex / R.I.P.) 2. Celtic Frost (To Mega Therion / Into the Pandemonium) 3. Annihilator (Never Neverland / Alice in Hell) 4. Death Angel (Act III / the Ultra Violence) 5. Kreator (Extreme Aggression / Endorama (yes, not very Thrash, but it's their best album, who cares!)) 6. Metallica (Ride the Lightning / Master of Puppets) 7. Slayer (Reign in Blood / Seasons in the Abyss) 8. Megadeth (Rust in Peace / Peace Sells) 9. Sodom (Agent Orange / In War and Pieces) 10. Testament (The Legacy / The New Order) You may argue that Celtic Frost and Annihilator have not always been 100% Thrash. That's correct, and that's fine for me. I have remarked that our "taste and favorites" are frequently close to each other. That's why I recently listened again the whole discography of groups that I have never been a great fan of: Exodus, Overkill and Anthrax. I am still struggling a bit with them. Don't know really why. P.S.: I finally had a chance to see Testament, live for the first time last Friday (in Tallinn, Estonia) - They really deserve a spot in my top 10! always
Good vid, Thrash is at the limit of my taste so my favs are the obvious ones but I will check out some of the albums you mention. Metallica - Master of Puppets Overkill - Years of Decay, do you know if the 2023 red vinyl is a decent pressing? It seems to be the only affordable LP version. Slayer - South of Heaven Annihilator - Never Neverland Mutation - Dark Black Not a fan of Anthrax nor Megadeath, only heard Testament Souls of Black, which didn't stick & I've not heard the other bands.
The Years Of Decay I held up was the red marble version, it sounds great and was very affordable. I think I only paid $30 Canadian for it. Thanks for mentioning a few of your favourites and thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Thank you for the quick reply, the 89 cd sounds fine but I thought it'd be nice to have the LP too. The red marble is less than £30 for new but the original 89 LP is over £90 for a G+ LP!!
My top 10, in no particular order. Changes day to day… Testament, Megadeth, Annihilator, Metallica, Overkill, Perzonal War, Anthrax, Flotsam and Jetsam, Death Angel, Xentrix. Honorable mention.. Toxikull, War Curse. One album I feel is quite underrated is Death Angel - Act 3. Glad to hear some love for Metallica Load. Not Master or Ride.. but solid IMO. Agree with Anthrax - sound of white noise. Great album. Did they go down after this due to Dan Spitz leaving?
That’s actually what I usually do, I was just trying to please a couple of people that have asked me to do it the other way 😂 I can’t win ha ha. Thanks for the kind words 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
The first 5 thrash bands I got into were Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, Sepultura then Kreator. That was around 91-92. I still think 80s Sepultura and Kreator is better than alot of the US albums of that time.
Awesome top 10 thrash metal bands, Darcy! Most of it was predictable because you pretty much talked about them everyday 😄😄. Overkill, Testament, Kreator, Megadeth, Sodom, Slayer, Anthrax, Exodus and Flotsam and Jetsam. All those bands are great choices!
My favorite Bands: 1. Sepultura (BtR) 2. Slayer (RiB) 3. Nuclear Assault (Game over) 4. Destruction (Eternal Devastation) 5. Tankard (The morning after) These bands are their named albums will be forever on my repertoire.
Hi Darcy! I thought about my most scary and evil Albums I have ever heard... I think it was the first Black Sabbath Album with ther Opener Black Sabbath and Slayers Reign in Blood with Angel of Death and the following Songs one by one on this great evil Album and right, Mercyful Fate, with their Melissa Album! Great Stuff for young Ears with around 13 Years on Earth! Greetings from Germany! 😄
For me it is not possible to say what my number one Megadeth album is. I can say The world.....is their only album I do not like but I love every single other album. No wonder, they are a top 3 band for me (with Kiss and Crashdiet). If I have to pick my favourite Mustaine song it is Washington is next. By the way, they were great live a few weeks ago. Other great albums are Annihilator- Never neverland, Overkill- Taking over, Evil invaders- Shattering reflections and the Channel Zero debut. Yesterday Kreator, Sodom, Destruction and Tankard played together at Klash at the Ruhrpott in a big amphitheather. The Kreator show was stopped after one hour because of serious weather problems. Great video Darcy. The Kreator show with metalmikkey and Jürgen was very cool too. Extreme aggression and Endorama are the Kreator albums I listen to the most. Honerable mention is Exodus - Force of habbit with the fantastic Feeding time at the zoo.
Megadeth has so many great albums, including some of my newer favourites like United Abominations & Endgame. I watched some footage from that Kreator, Sodom, Destruction & Tankard show, so damn awesome! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Thomas
A lot of these I knew would be on here, and rightfully so. My top 10 would look very similar to this for sure. Testament will always be my #1. As much as I am disappointed with Metallica, you’re right for putting them on here, the first 4/5 records are hard to top…. Stay well . Stay heavy 🤟🤟
Great video Darcy. Well done on showing Metallica's Load, that's an album that gets unfairly shi t on. Good to see some love for Divine Intervention too, that's a very underrated record. Cheers mate
I’ve never once dropped a Load on Load lol. I’ve always enjoyed that album, great time in my life when my first son was born. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers James
My Top 10 1. Overkill 2. Havok 3. Sodom 4. Darkness 5. Megadeth 6. Warbringer 7. Evil 8. Testament 9. Slayer 10. Vektor Thrash Metal is my Favourite Music Genre
Interesting most bands I like different albums to you. I agree with Ride the Lightning though. I like Load too, some cracking songs. I'd go Anthrax Persistence of Time, Megadeth So Far So Good So What, Overkill Horrorscope, Slayer Reign in Blood or Seasons in the Abyss is a toss up. Divine Intervention is good. Sodom I'd go for Code Red, Kreator Violent Revolution. Testament Souls of Black but they have so many great albums not so much the first 2 though. Never been a fan of Exodus. Other bands/albums I'd have are Anacrusis Reason, Artillery By Inheritence, Annihilator Never Neverland, Onslaught In Search of Sanity.
I’m so glad you mentioned Artillery By Inheritance, it’s an absolute thrashterpiece! Thanks for watching and thanks for the great comment 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Oh, I missed this video when it came it... ;-)... you are right about Sodom, check out 40 years of at War. It is not only a "Greatest Hits" Album, but they do a new interpretation (if you can call it that way) of songs from their first Albums. I like Exodus, but I am not the biggest fan of Souzas Voice, but that is just personal taste.... and yessss: The Atrocity Exhibition ist fantastic. Just to throw one or two Albums in: The Debut by Annihilator, Eternal Devastation by Destruction, Handle with Care by Nuclear Assault... best whishes, stay heavy!
I’ve had that Sodom since release day, they re-recorded one song off of everyone of their studio albums. I love it!! Thanks for sharing a few of your favourites 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
As far as the Rob Dukes EXODUS goes, I have Atrocity : Exhibit B. And Shovel Headed Kill Machine. Which I think is another great Dukes album. I also have Tempo Of the Damned, the 1989 album, I can't remember the title atm and Bonded By Blood
Fabulous Disaster is one of the best thrash albums from ‘89 for sure! Agreed on Shovel Headed, definitely the heaviest of the Dukes era. Hope you’re having a great weekend 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
I wanted to add Celtic Frost, but I always saw them as more of a doom/black metal band than a thrash band. Anyway, here's my list, not in order: - Metallica (Ride the Lightning), - Slayer (Show No Mercy), - Anthrax (Fistful of Metal), - Megadeth (Rust in Peace), - Metal Church (Metal Church), - Flotsam & Jetsam (Doomsday for the Deceiver), - Destruction (Infernal Overkill), - Sodom (Persecution Mania), - Kreator (Pleasure to Kill), - Sepultura (Schizophrenia).
Good to see Metal Church here, I’ve always defended that their first two albums have thrash elements, but I don’t know if I would consider them full on thrash. That doesn’t matter anyways because they are awesome! Cheers from hot ass Saskatchewan 🥵
Great video i must admit I'm a heavy metal fan and never heard of a band called grave digger im 60yrs old. I found them on spotify i liked the music. Do you just wondering
I'm surprised that your fellow Canadian "Annihilator" was not on your list. Also I'd consider Destruction, Nuclear Assault and Tankard as strong contenders for the list but there is not enough room on it since I agree with your list 8 out of 10.
Annihilator is always in consideration for me, they would definitely be in my Top 15. I’m getting to know most of the newer Tankard very well and I’m loving it! Thanks as always 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
1. Metallica - And Justice for All (1988) 2. Megadeth - Rust in Peace (1990) 3. Pantera - Cowboys from Hell (1990) 4. Overkill - The Years of Decay (1989) 5. Annihilator - Alice in Hell (1989) 6. Metal Church - Metal Church (1984) 7. Celtic Frost - To Mega Therion (1985) 8. Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss (1990) 9. Anthrax - Sound of White Noise (1993) 10. Sepultura - Arise (1991) I know that I'm cheating a little bit on Pantera, Metal Church, Celtic Frost and even Sound of White Noise; but I prefer more melody and speed metal in the sound of thrash.
I totally understand! I’ve always said those first two Metal Church had thrash in them, they changed more when Mike joined. Nice to Annihilator on your list 🤘Aaaaalice isn’t it frightening :))
My Top 10 Thrash Metal Bands 1. Testament 2. Voivod 3.Sodom 4. Death Angel 5. Kreator 6. Destruction 7. Megadeth 8. Annihilator 9. Slayer/Dark Angel 10. Metallica Honourable mention... Mortal Sin 🇦🇺🤘 Check out their first 2 albums, they were awesome. Great episode Darcy
For the Sodom topic, is rumored that finally by the end of the year, it would be a reissue of "Tapping The Vein" from 1992 amazing album, if you havent listened i fully recommend it, a lot of people like me are patiently waiting for that haha, and for Metallica i really love the new album 72 seasons grow on me a freakin lot! As for Exodus unpopular opinion my favorite is "Blood in Blood Out" from 2014 my Favorite american thrash band
Great video Darcy. Would probalby go with Taking Over, mostly because it was my first Overkill album. Agree with Testament and Kreator, that would be my picks as well. Did and still don't like the mid era Kreator. I just like Rust in Peace by Megadeth. Ride the Lightning is my favourite by Metallica, do not care much for what they made after And Justice. Bonded by Blood, Reign in Blood, No Place for Disgrace, Among the Living, all top notch. Cheers. 🤘🤘
Good list. I would make two changes, that would be considered blasphemous. I would put Megadeth and Exodus just outside my top 10. Love the music, but Dave and Zetros vocals grate on me nowadays. Megadeth kinda lost me after Countdown . I would bring in Death Angel and Sepultura.
It was in Saskatoon. It was cool, I got to talk to Gary Holt & had a good 5 min conversation with Glen Drover. He was actually filling in for Alex Skolnick in Testament. He was already out of Megadeth at the time, Chris Broderick was already there.
1. Testament - Formation of damnation 2. Metallica - Kill'em All 3. Slayer - Hell Awaits 4. Sepultura - Beneath the Remains 5. Kreator - Enemy of god 6. Anthrax - Among the living 7. Exodus - Bonded by blood 8. Annihalator - Alice in hell 9. Plantera - Cowboys from hell (is pantera thrash?) 10. Vio-lence - Eternal Nightmare
Good to see some love for Formation Of Damnation, definitely one of my favourite Testament albums. I wouldn’t consider Pantera thrash, but it doesn’t matter we’re just having fun here :)) Thanks for sharing your list and thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Yeah it was released almost the same time i discovered Testament ! Also great lyrics on that album! I agree with Pantera its not really thrash dont really know how to label them. Do you have any video with favorite "new" Thrash metal bands? Like Evil, Havok, War ringer etx
I think I would've guessed 9 of the 10. Probably wouldn't have thought F&J would beat Death Angel with you. Im trying to think if theres a thrash band with a long career ive not heard you speak about much 🤔
A lot of what bothers you about Death Angel bothers me too, not to the same degree obviously 😂 but you know what I’m saying! I put Flotz above lots of thrash bands, love ‘em!
My top ten has changed many times over the years. These would be mine in no particular order. Megadeth Sodom Slayer Overkill Testament Kreator Sacred Reich Suicidal Tendencies Nuclear Assault Anthrax Some modern bands that have been creeping up for me are, Harlott, Suicidal Angels, Havok, and Lost Society. Metallica has fell out of the top 10 in recent years for me.
I thought I might see Annihilator on your list, they definitely be in my Top 15. I hope you’re having a great summer so far 🥵 It’s hot ass here, going hit 102 F here next Wednesday and Thursday :(
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Annihilator would be in my top 15 as well. Probably at 11 to be honest. Summer has been pretty good. Very warm yes! Hope you have been having a good summer as well. We are having a nice run of temps in the mid 80's right now with low humidity. So its been pretty nice.
There is definitely room to expand this list, might have to a 11 to 20 in another video. Thanks for mentioning a couple good ones 🤘 Have a great week :))

Anthrax - Fistful of Metal 8. Slayer - Show No Mercy 9. Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare 10. Atrophy - Violent by Nature Honorable Mentions: Exodus - Bonded by Blood D.R.I. - Thrash Zone or Crossover Municipal Waste - The Art of Partying Exhorder - Slaughter in the Vatican Sodom - M-16 or Agent Orange Onslaught - In Search of Sanity or Power from Hell
Do you happen to own another copy of the Flotsam and Jetsom no place for disgrace record for acquisition? I only have the CD and they did release this album Remastered and remixed on 200 gm double 🤔 record i think, i saw a preorder happening and missed it completely. This one is Strong 💪 Medicine

Thrash bands I enjoyed seeing live in no order:
Slayer
Overkill
Kreator
Testament
Death Angel
Megadeth
Dark Angel
Metallica
Flotsam and Jetsam
Vio- lence

Killbox13 is definitely underrated. Love the track "Struck Down" from it.
ANTHRAX AMONG THE LIVING got me into thrash i bought it on a WHIM too knew nothing about thrash or metal at the time
Hey Darcy, great idea here, for me, my Top 4 is pretty solid, but the next 6 might be a bit fluid, and the year I discovered them:
1 - Overkill, 1985
2 - Dark Angel, 1986
3 - Metallica, 1984
4 - Anthrax, 1985
5 - Metal Church, 1985
6 - Megadeth, 1985
7 - Kreator, 1986
8 - Testament, 1987
9 - Exodus, 1985
10-Artillery, 1986
I have followed 1-4 all the way since discovering them (tho missed 1 Anthrax) 5, 7-9 I kind of fell off in the early- mid 90's, 6 & 10 I followed thru 1999, 5 & 10 I have gotten back into over the past 5 years, where 6-9 are very scattered.
Cheers 🤘🍺

Testament!
Great recap list, will give all these albums a listen over the next week or so 🤘🏻
Now that’s dedication! I like your style ha ha. Thanks as always 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Great picks all around and I really like that you included your honorable/underrated mentions for each band.
Good list Darcy! I would include Destruction (Sentence of Death) and Possession (seven churches) in there maybe some Celtic Frost too. maybe I will make a video too! I got into thrash as it came out too in the 80s.. killer time for tunes. Cheers man!
It's very cool that Kreator is a relatively recent discovery for you yet they've still climbed so high among your favorites. Cheers!
I wish I had dug into them back in the day, I’d love to see what the alternate Planet6Strings universe would look like 🤣
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Careful what you wish for, you might have become disillusioned when COMA OF SOULS came out, sold your collection, and got into grunge, and I don't think SMELLS LIKE TEEN DARCEY is a very good name for a YT channel LOL

Hi Darcy!!! that was an awesome idea, video, list, bands and albums too...... i got a little late to the german bands and yes they were kind of little extreme for me, back in the day.... and then discover bands from "other" countries. You really need to do a part II and show more bands (honourable mention). cheers and be well
Great recap of your Thrash journey! All top notch bands and albums!
Only a small part of journey, but definitely a very important part! Cheers G 🤘
Good list! Among the Living is my number 1 album and favorite thrash band!
@@keng.2468 That’s an awesome #1 for sure. We just need a new album from them before I hit the retirement home 🤣 Let’s Go!!
Here's what I have:
Slayer-Reign in Blood
Metallica-Master of Puppets
Megadeth-Rust in Peace
Anthrax-Persistence of Time
Testament-The Gathering
Overkill-Horrorscope
Exodus-The Atrocity Exhibition-Exhibit A
Sodom-Agent Orange
Flotsam & Jetsam-No Place for Disgrace
Death Angel-The Ultra-Violence
Oh man The Atrocity Exhibition Exhibit A is awesome, best since Tempo Of The Damned I’d say! Thanks for sharing your list 🤘 Cheers David
Nice one man 🤘🏻🤘🏻
All great bands and great albums. I need to check out some of the German thrash bands. I’ve heard some Kreator but that’s about it.
I admire that you could actually narrow it down to 10 bands. That would be impossible for me lol.
But as of this moment, my Top 10 albums would be as follows:
1. Megadeth - Peace Sells...But Who's Buying?
2. Heathen - Victims Of Deception
3. Morbid Saint - Spectrum Of Death
4. Dark Angel - Time Does Not Heal
5. Testament - The Legacy
6. Exumer - Possesed By Fire
7. Kreator - Terrible Certainty
8. Demolition Hammer - Tortured Existence
9. Xentrix - Shattered Existence
10. Sodom - Tapping The Vein
This list will be different tomorrow lol
Cheers!!
Wow, what a great list of bands and albums. Most of these came together to form the foundation of the musical road I’ve traveled throughout the years.

Just picked up endorama on vinyl yesterday. I had the cd. I'm going to give it another chance. I'm looking forward to seeing testament kreator and possessed when they come to Michigan. Another great video. Thanks
My unholy trinity of evil Thrash is Slayer, Sodom and Kreator
Great list, I’m a little surprised that I didn’t see Annihilator on your list🤷♂️ Metallica would obviously be at the top of my list even though I always thought that they were more of an Americanized NWOBHM band with some thrash songs.
Awesome picks Darcy. M-16 was my first Sodom album and still ranks among my favourite thrash albums. Agent Orange is excellent as well. Can't wait for the new Flotsam and Jetsam to be out. Have a great headbanging week my friend🤘.
@@speedking4951 It’s always a good day when a new Flotz album comes out! Thank you 🤘 Have a good headbanging week yourself :))

Megadeth's latest blew me away as well, can't wait for the follow-up
Lot of Thrash albums that I truly love, picking ten was very hard but I think I've got a good set.
Metallica - Ride The Lightning
Megadeth - Peace Sells... But Who's Buying?
Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss
Exodus - Tempo of the Damned
Sodom - M-16
Forbidden - Forbidden Evil
Testament - Formation of Damnation
Vio-Lence - Eternal Nightmare
Pantera - Cowboys from Hell
Sepultera - Beneath the Remains
Cheers mate, absolutely love me some Thrash!
The stream was awesome! We WILL be doing more that’s sure shit! Favourite of you’re 👽 Voi-who ha ha
After listening to Thrash Metal for more than 35 years, my top 10 would be as follow:
1. Coroner (Mental Vortex / R.I.P.)
2. Celtic Frost (To Mega Therion / Into the Pandemonium)
3. Annihilator (Never Neverland / Alice in Hell)
4. Death Angel (Act III / the Ultra Violence)
5. Kreator (Extreme Aggression / Endorama (yes, not very Thrash, but it's their best album, who cares!))
6. Metallica (Ride the Lightning / Master of Puppets)
7. Slayer (Reign in Blood / Seasons in the Abyss)
8. Megadeth (Rust in Peace / Peace Sells)
9. Sodom (Agent Orange / In War and Pieces)
10. Testament (The Legacy / The New Order)
You may argue that Celtic Frost and Annihilator have not always been 100% Thrash.
Metallica - Master of Puppets
Overkill - Years of Decay, do you know if the 2023 red vinyl is a decent pressing? It seems to be the only affordable LP version.
Slayer - South of Heaven
Annihilator - Never Neverland
Mutation - Dark Black
Not a fan of Anthrax nor Megadeath, only heard Testament Souls of Black, which didn't stick & I've not heard the other bands.
I’m glad I don’t give a crap about owning originals, they are always overpriced around here!
Great video! Please do more of these. May I make a suggestion? Go from 10 to 1 instead of 1 to 10. Builds more suspense.
That’s actually what I usually do, I was just trying to please a couple of people that have asked me to do it the other way 😂 I can’t win ha ha. Thanks for the kind words 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy

been a thrash fan since 1983 to pick my favorites in 43 years is way too hard because there are many underrated thrash bands that never made it big.
@@tainted_lord87 Thanks Tony 🤘
My favorite Bands:
1. Sepultura (BtR)
2. Slayer (RiB)
3. Nuclear Assault (Game over)
4. Destruction (Eternal Devastation)
5. Tankard (The morning after)
These bands are their named albums will be forever on my repertoire.

Cheers mate

Anyway, here's my list, not in order:
- Metallica (Ride the Lightning),
- Slayer (Show No Mercy),
- Anthrax (Fistful of Metal),
- Megadeth (Rust in Peace),
- Metal Church (Metal Church),
- Flotsam & Jetsam (Doomsday for the Deceiver),
- Destruction (Infernal Overkill),
- Sodom (Persecution Mania),
- Kreator (Pleasure to Kill),
- Sepultura (Schizophrenia).
Good to see Metal Church here, I’ve always defended that their first two albums have thrash elements, but I don’t know if I would consider them full on thrash. That doesn’t matter anyways because they are awesome! Cheers from hot ass Saskatchewan 🥵

8. Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss (1990)
9. Anthrax - Sound of White Noise (1993)
10. Sepultura - Arise (1991)
I know that I'm cheating a little bit on Pantera, Metal Church, Celtic Frost and even Sound of White Noise; but I prefer more melody and speed metal in the sound of thrash.
