Hi Darcy. Well thanks to add SAVATAGE on your top 10 trad Metal. No one can replace Criss Oliva, even virtuoso like Al Pitrelli or Alex Skolnick, because Oliva style and sound was very uniq. Stay Heavy 🤘🤘🤘
@@emaneric They are definitely not far off this list. Especially the period from the Ep to Empire, must have metal! Thanks for the kind words 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
1. Black Sabbath-Mob Rules. 2.Judas Priest-Defenders Of THe faith 3.Iron Maiden- Seventh son of a seventh son. 4.Ozzy- diary of a mad man. 5.Merciful Fate- Don’t Break The Oath. 6.Dio-last In Line 7.King Diamond- Fatal Portrait 8.Def Leopard- On Through The Night. 9.WASP-S/T 10.Anvil- Metal On Metal This was kind of hard to pick there are a lot. Anvil bumped Accept Metal Heart and Running wild - gates of purgatory. Great video once again Darcy. 🤘
Maiden would be my pick for fave trad Metal, I´m sure you´d have guessed that, hehe... Armored Saint in the top 10 for sure as well. Great list and some gems you´ve shown additionally. I think Riot would be in my top 10, I love almost everything by them.
Late to the party but I've been burning through your content lately and have really enjoyed it. Some of your content really takes me back to my youth and formative metal days in the early '80s as a 13-14 year old, just some great memories. Anyway, just a few comments on some of these albums/bands: Defenders of the Faith - Like you, my first concert was Judas Priest in support of this album...saw them in Columbus Ohio with Canada's own Kick Axe. Took my first girlfriend, whose initial's were JP, and she was a huge Priest fan. I had put this album aside for a long time but it has reemerged for me in the past few years. Hall of the Mountain King - Power of the Night was my entry album for Savatage but 'Hall' came next I imagine. 24 Hours Ago and White Witch are great, but nothing beats the first record and the EP for me in regards to Savatage. W.A.S.P. - Saw these guys on this tour headlining a club with support acts Metallica(!) and Heaven. Earlier in the day WASP had a signing at a local record store and I had them sign an 'Animal' picture disc, which was unfortunately stolen at some point. That's it for now, keep rockin' the content!
Great picks. Here's mine: 1. Judas Priest - Painkiller (1990) 2. Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind (1983) 3. Black Sabbath - Mob Rules (1981) 4. Dio/Rainbow/Heaven & Hell - Holy Diver (1983) 5. Scorpions - Taken By Force (1977) 6. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime (1988) 7. Danzig - 4p (1994) 8. Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman (1981) 9. Saxon - Strong Arm of the Law (1980) 10. King Diamond/Mercyful Fate - Melissa (1983) 11. Accept - Balls to the Wall (1983) 12. Savatage - Gutter Ballet (1989)
Just saw U.D.O. in a little club here in San Diego. Stellar. Still doing Fast As A Shark and Balls To The Wall. Excellent show. Good to see Peter in the band. Russian Roulette is such an underrated album. Screaming is my fav Priest but Defenders is so close. Number Of The Beast edges out Piece Of Mind for me. Excellent ranking. Stay metal 🤘
@@mattlortz6026 That’s so cool you got to see them live, I love that Peter & Udo are back together. Russian Roulette Top 5 Accept albums easy! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Matt
Great list Darcy and some cool recommendation albums. Can't beat Priest, Maiden, Saxon & Accept. I think I'd have Raven, Satan, Sabbath and Doro on my list. For a future video it would be cool if you could do a top 10 of modern traditional HM bands if you've like enough of them.
I don’t know if I could do 10 these days, a few didn’t stay in the collection. Let me have a look though, you never know. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers GRock
So many great shows in Madrid, I’m jealous lol. My son saw Metallica July 14 there, he said it was incredible! Thanks for hanging out with me 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Awesome list! I actually met John Bush a few times. He's a super cool down to earth guy. I chatted with him in 03' after a show outside the Al Rosa Villa club in Columbus. The same venue that Dimebag was shot and killed 1 year later! I'm a long time Armored Saint and Anthrax fan. Nothing against Bellodana, but I've always preferred Bush's vocals. Accept and U.D.O. have been in my top 10 for decades. I've seen U.D.O. live twice, once on the Dirkshneider tour. Met him as well. After they met with fans, the band walked back to their hotel through the rough city streets of Cleveland that night! It would've made a really cool music video! I love Saxon and W.A.S.P. I saw Saxon live around 10 years ago. They kicked serious ass. Judas Priest has been in my top 10 since I was 17. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them live. I used to own every King Diamond and Mercyful Fate CD. I sold them a couple years ago and am kind of regretting it now. Dio is hands down my favorite rock/metal vocalist of all time. I own and love everything he's ever recorded. By the way... Where's Sabbath?! I enjoyed your Sabbath album ranking and am kind of shocked that they're not in your top 10. They've always been in my top 3. Another classic metal band in my top 10 is Blue Oyster Cult. Anyway, I love the channel!🤘
I’ve been asked a couple times where is Black Sabbath, the truth is I was late getting into them, 83-84 I think. Anyways they are an easy #11 for me. Thanks for the kind words & awesome comment, much appreciated 🤘 Cheers from Canada
I got all the bands right but the order wrong. Judas priest was the only one i got right. 😂 I love seeing those original Cassettes. Those are pieces of history! Seeing original pressings of albums is always cool but i feel theres something special about someone showing an original they bought back in the day. Anyways cool vid! Stay sick! 🤘🏻
Great Choise ! Here is my List : 1. Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King 2. Vicious Rumors - Digital Dictator 3. Iron Maiden - Powerslave 4. Dio - Holy Diver 5. Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance 6. Queensryche - The Warning 7. Riot - Thundersteel 8. Virgin Steele - Age of consent 9. Omen - Battle cry 10. Running Wild - Death or Glory
Dio 'Holy Diver' is my number 1 by a couple of light years , Saxon 'Denim and Leather' and 'Power and the Glory' i can't split both superb albums IMO . Killer episode Darcy ........................ and the bands played on ............... 🤘🤘🤘
I love the Ripper years and loved him in Iced Earth too. WASP, Maiden, Priest, Lizzy Borden, Iced Earth, Megadeth, Metallica, Motörhead are some of my top favs
Nothing but classics on your list Darcy. Glad UDO is in there. I became a King Diamond/Mercyful Fate fan this year 😊. Hopefully we get a new album by the king. As to my list, Grave Digger and Iron Savior would definitely be in there. Cheers my friend 🍻 🤘.
Grave Digger are awesome! They’d definitely make the expanded list. They are also on my “To Rank” list, I now own all their studio albums. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Speedy
Great review Darcy I've been to 3 shows the last 2 weeks Iron Maiden, King Diamond and W.A.S.P./Armored Saint all killer concerts a nice way to close the year out for concerts...your traditional metal is pure classic METAL just awesome!!! ...thanks again and keep the faith!! 🤘🤘🎸🎤💿💿
@@NVC1019 You getting to all these shows puts a big smile on my face, I know you loved every minute of it! Thank you for the kind of words, always appreciated 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Great video. I'd like to see a ranking of Iron Maiden live albums, there certainly are enough of them to make one! Looks like I have 5 out of the 12: Live After Death, A Real Live One, A Real Dead One, Book Of Souls Live, Nights Of The Dead Legacy Of The Beast Live In Mexico City.
Darcy, just one correction: as to Mercyful Fate, I confused the titles-I meant "In The Shadows" instead of "Into the Unknown" ,even though that's a GREAT one too!👌👍🤝
Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind Judas Priest -,British Steel Angelwitch - Angelwitch Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell Riot - Fire down under UFO - Obsession Accept - Restless and Wild Loudness - The law of the Devils land Raven - Wiped Out Mercyful Fate - Melissa Still love these albums. Later came My Rush, Savatage, Fates Warning, Triumph, Dream Theater years of being fan. Now I love a lot of metal melodic rock, prog metal, sometimes trash metal. Tip of the week Jelusick!
Rush is in a league of their own for me, very special band! I thought about it & I think they’d go on my Hard Rock favourite list, even though there are so much more. Great list, thanks for sharing 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Don't think i can do a top 10 but top 3 is definitely 1 - Iron Maiden. Best album - somewhere in time 2 - judas priest. Best album - British steel 3 - Saxon. Best album - wheels of steel. Definitely look forward to seeing you do a full iron maiden and Judas Priest live album ranking, especially if both the future past and invincible shield tours get live releases
I totally plan on doing the live Maiden one & great idea with live Priest one, I’ll put that in the Papa6Strings notebook. Thanks as always 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
Screaming for Vengeance. My fav album and band. Screaming introduced me to Priest and they have remained my fav all these years. Incredible concerts and never let me down. Nothing against Ripper but Rob Halford is Priest to me. Ripper made a nice career from the exposure he got while in Priest. Defenders of the Faith is a close #2 for me.
Defenders & Screaming are like 1A & 1B for me, in fact I usually like to listen to them back to back. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Stay Heavy Duty ~ Darcy
Hey Darcy. Another great video! I am lucky enough to have an OG copy of the Accept album with the burning Flying V’s - I also really like Eat The Heat, some great tracks on there. I saw UDO twice, once in 2013 and again in 2017 - fantastic both times. Love Abigail. WASP, so good. Cheers
Good to hear that you like Eat The Heat. Check out the band Iron Allies if you haven’t, David Reece & Herman Frank team up, album is called Blood In Blood Out. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
@ Thanks Darcy. I have that Iron Allies album and like it quite a bit. Always liked his voice. After Accept he was in a band in the early 90s called Bangalore Choir that was pretty good too. Cheers
Hi Darcy!!! well done adn cool list. not easy just to narrow to 10 bands/artists..... and also what's "traditional metal", but i guess old metalheads like us do understand the idea, so no issues seeing Maiden, Saxon, Priest or Accept here. My list would include Scorpions and maybe even Ozzy or the first three Def Leppard. cheers and be well
My Top Ten Classic HM bands with their my favourite albums: 1) Priest-Defenders... 2) Accept Balls To... 3) Saxon "Lion Heart"4) Mercyful Fate "Into The Unknown5)Savatage "Hall Of The Mountain King 6) Bruce Dickinson "Accident of Birth 7) U.D.O. Animal House , Touchdown (as well) 8) Black Sabbath Headless Cross 9) Paul Diano Murder One 10() King Diamond "Conspiracy"👍🤝🥂
@@NickVolk Great list & great to see Accident Of Birth on it, still my favourite Bruce Dickinson solo album. Thanks for sharing your Top 10 🤘 Cheers Nick
Totally agree about Priest pretending the ripper years never existing. I don't like demolition at all, but there's some good stuff on Jugulator and i absolutely adore cathedral spires :) Also the 98 live meltdown is my personal favorite Priest live album :)
Great list! 8 of them would probably be on mine as well. I still have never listened to Armored Saint. Iron Maiden would probably be my number one. I’m going to see them tomorrow in Baltimore 🤘🤘
Oh man I’m jealous! Maiden is always big time travel for me, need to set aside 3 days just for one show lol. I know you’ll have a great time 🤘 Cheers brother
I don’t think I have enough, modern bands left in my collection to make a video lol. I really tightened my belt over the past three years, you can’t buy everything and you definitely cannot listen to everything. Pick your battles 🤘 Cheers BVD
I Have a real live and a real dead on original vinyl on day of release...🤘..2.great live albums,I seen Iron Maiden on a real live tour 1993... in Dublin... brillant
I was trying to guess. I thought you'd have Motorhead on the list. I couldn't actually think of 10 😂. I didn't think about AS and Savatage or UDO but when you showed them I thought yeah of course you'd have them. I'd like to see a top 10 glam metal bands and death metal from you certainly. I think I'd guess all your power metal though
I'm with you on the ripper stuff needing a reissue I got Jugulator and live 98 meltdown when they came put back in the day glad I hung on to them for whatever reason I never got around to buying demolition or live in London these days people are asking £40 plus for them! Great list mate I do need to check out king diamond and armoured Saint more oh well more to add to the list! lol
It was a weird time for Priest, they even did a bit of label jumping, CMC, Atlantic & SPV/Steamhammer, hope they get the rights back to this stuff! They need to take a page out of Maiden’s book & honour each era of the band. If you’re good with King’s vocals you should be ok lol. Thanks as always 🤘 Have a great week :))
Not surprised by your choices at all. U D.O. I only have Animal House by them but I did see that Back to the Roots tour back in 2016 it was a killer show. King Diamond Spiders Lullaby is a great underappreciated album IMO. Great video Darcy!
@@georgegsroomofrock9868 Tons of U.D.O. on sale at the AFM Records Shop. Prices are great, helps offset the “kick to nuts” shipping costs lol. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers G
I like how you mentioned looking up metal in the dictionary lol, for me it would be Holy Diver🤘🏼(ever get into Dio’s Inferno last in live ?bought it in 98, awesome w Gus G) always liked Live in London as well, and a Real Dead One IS real hard to find now.…👎🏼 gotta listen to that Dirkschneider live for sure, looking forward to the live Maiden and your dm lists thanks Darcy!!
I think I have pretty much all the live Dio available, all awesome! Yes stay tuned for those, they’ll be fun, especially the live Maiden album ranking. Thanks for taking the time to hang out with me, always appreciated 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Nice one. I'm a Trad Metal fan since around 1982, so this topic always makes me happy. First of all, speaking as a lifelong KISS fan, this was my first band ever, but of course they were never a Metal band in any case, but a Hard Rock band, so I can't list them in a Trad Metal list. Furthermore, the first 7 Maiden albums are more than enough for me to call them my absolute favorite band in this genre and that will probably never change. So, here's my TOP-10: 01. Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988) 02. Warlord - Deliver Us (1983) 03. Running Wild - Port Royal (1988) 04. Black Sabbath - Headless Cross (1989) 05. Queensrÿche - Operation Mindcrime (1988) 06. Manowar - Sign of the Hammer (1984) 07. Riot - Fire Down Under (1981) 08. Rage - Secrets In A Weird World (1988) 09. Manilla Road - Open the Gates (1985) 10. Mercyful Fate - Don’t Break the Oath (1984)
I was playing your #8 in the background, love that album. I’m late to the Rage party, I totally understand why they made your list! Running Wild is another one I’ll add to the album ranking list! I’m hoping to see a new album from them in 2025, Blood On Blood was awesome! Thanks for sharing your list 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
As far as the Mark Tornillo era goes it’s middle of the road, definitely better than The Rise Of Chaos but not close to Blood Of The Nations. Hope you are doing good Tim 🤘 always nice to hear from you :))
My favorite wasp is the debut also. They are touring that full album and i hope they come to Ireland, i see some European dates for next year but not Ireland yet but im hoping.
Love spiders lullaby. Underrated ... I wish king had done more stand alone songs on lps after this, as I found some of the concepts a little bit meh .. Top video 🥂
There’s not many King Diamond standalone songs, but what there is are all awesome! Thanks as always for the positive vibes, always appreciated 🤘 See you next time :))
Eat the Heat was my introduction to Accept back in around 1990 and think it is a great album. It took me awhile to get into the UDO Accept as his vocals were very hit and miss with me back then after hearing David's vocals. They have grown on me a lot over the years but I am sure to your disgust have never checked out any UDO solo stuff. I still can't get into King Diamond. Love the music but the vocals don't click with me. Great top 10 mate😃🤘
Jealous of that W.A.S.P. Cassette. My W.A.S.P. Tattoo is signed by Blackie and Doug. I’ve met 3 of the 4 current members. Absolute favorite band. The other live Priest album with Ripper is called ‘98 Live Meltdown. No metal in the title. I wish they would reissue the Ripper era stuff so more people could experience it. I’ve been enjoying for 2 decades now. I’m not fond of Eat the Heat but the bass sounds great on that record and Generation Clash is a banger. I think I prefer Predator over EtH but it’s nothing against Reese, it’s just too LA for me. Armored Saint is awesome! A very consistent catalog of music from that band. Joey Vera is one of the most under recognized bass players! Both times I’ve seen W.A.S.P. And AS, John’s vocals could stand to be turned up. I’ve never listened to King Diamond or Merciful Fate, and I get flack for that because Mikky Dee is one of my favorite drummers.
Actually two of my favourite bass players are Peter Baltes & Joey Vera, both are legends in my books! Sounds like a pretty special tattoo. Thanks for watching and thanks for the great comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
Good overview. Not much to disagree with except possibly the inclusion of UDO and Armored Saint over alternates such as Riot (mentioned below) UFO and Krokus - sticking closely to traditional HM. I personally think the best WASP album is LIve in the Raw though the debut is the best studio release.
1. Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast 2. Judas Priest - Stained Class 3. Saxon - Crusader 4. Dio - Holy Diver 5. W.A.S.P. - W.A.S.P. 6. Accept - Balls to the Wall 7. King Diamond - Abigail 8. Armored Saint - March of the Saint 9. Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King 10. U.D.O. - Animal House on the ones where we differ, your pick would probably be my 2nd favorite. glad to see you were able to stay focused for this one. 😆
Another awesome vid Darcy. Agree with you on Priest and Defenders. Saxon.. gonna go with Denim and Leather. Still think that song has ine of the best riffs in metal. Maiden...SSOASS WASP debut is brilliant Dio...Last in line Sabbath.. Paranoid Two bands that i love that i didn't know to include... Metal Church..half traditional and thrash The debut is my favourite but Blessing in Disguise is more straight ahead metal. Its a banger Manowar...Sign of the Hammer. As a fellow Canadian, may I ask where you get your shirts from?
I usually get them from Napalm Records, Nuclear Blast Records, Official band shops, concerts & many have been given to me by some very nice people. I actually don’t buy many, the shipping is always a swift kick to the nuts lol. If you do see something cool let me know, maybe we could share on the shipping. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers brother
1. Mercyful Fate/King Diamond (no questions asked) 2. Judas Priest 3. Black Sabbath (especially with Dio) 4. Iron Maiden 5. Early Queensryche (up to and including Operation Mindcrime) After this not really sure. About the Ripper years when he joined they sounded like a different band. That could be why Priest doesn’t acknowledge that time. I would have even called it a different name. My favorite work by the King is Them/Conspiracy. Loved the video but I would have liked going backwards from 10 to 1 more.
Iron Maiden number 1 for me for sure, Priest 2nd I think I would need to have Loudness, Riot and Jag Panzer in my Top 10 You are gonna love the King Diamond show, all 3 bands were top notch Stay Heavy!!🤘
Classic Heavy Metal, my favorite music genre ever. Had to make it 15 though (not in order): - Black Sabbath (Heaven and Hell), - Judas Priest (Stained Class), - Rainbow (Rising), - Motörhead (Overkill), - Accept (Restless and Wild), - Saxon (Wheels of Steel), - Iron Maiden (Iron Maiden), - Diamond Head (Lightning to the Nations), - Angel Witch (Angel Witch), - Raven (Wiped Out), - Venom (Welcome to Hell), - Tank (Filth Hounds of Hades), - Witchfinder General (Death Penalty), - Mercyful Fate (Melissa), - Satan (Court in the Act).
Ripper was sick during that show. Saxon is in my top 3. Accept legendary band. Love UDO need more of his early material. Can't go wrong with Dio, close to having them all. I need more early WASP. Love that Armored Saint.
Lots of U.D.O. on sale at the AFM Records Shop, the great prices help offset the “bend you over” shipping costs. Hope all is good your way 🤘 Take care Kevin

I remember when I was I was 13 I had Defenders of the Faith and my brother jumped of his bunk bed onto mine, right on top of my vinyl and smashed it We got in a fight, my brother refused to buy me a new record. I remember I called my mom on the phone to her work and I was crying that my brother broke my DOTF album. 😅 I laugh now, bur when I was 13 I had to save up my allowance for what few albums I had.
My brother is 3 years younger than me, believe me I have relatable stories lol. Until I got my first paper route I had to depend on allowance too, it took forever to save for anything. Ahh the good old days 🤘 Cheers Greg

I totaly disagree with you on Savatage. Not that one single word you said about Chris Oliva is untrue. He was an absoult blast of a gitarist and one of the best out there, there is no doubt about it. But I discovered Savatage after the tragical death of Chris and what should I say? This band managed to stay one of the best metal bands ever even after te tragical loss of Chris. The live power of this band was still so amazing. They were one of the best live bands out there, the music was still wonderfull and genius. And they got wit Al Pitrelli another great guitarist. For me he is also an absolut guitar hero. You didn´t find often such great guitar players who can manage such technical challenging parts with so much feeling. He is realy great. And no, he coulnd´t totaly match Chris. But man, he is so damn good. And Chris Cafrey did such a great job on playing Chris Olivas old soli, just amazing. So yes, the loss of Chris Oliva is realy, realy tragic. But Savatage managed to stay one of the best metal bands (ever) out there, even without Chris. And as a little tip: Jon Olivas Pain also has some amazing music in there repertoire. With an also great guitar player, who also died too early.

Very cool to see Liege Lord on your list, Master Control is my favourite from them. Running Wild is another great band. Thanks for taking the time to hang out with me 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Good idea. I give you 6. Simply because they never change. 1. Kiss- (Music from) The Elder 2. Crashdiet- Rest in sleaze 3. Megadeth- Rust in peace 4. Fates Warning- No exit 5. Gypsy Kyss- When passion murdered innocense 6. Cats in space- Daytrip to narnia The thing is, to call it a favourite band I have to love the absolute majority of the discography. A band like Maiden with all the boring albums after Somewhere in time can not be on the list. Or Mötley Crüe. Fantastic 1st three albums but then? Your list is great!
"The thing is, to call it a favourite band I have to love the absolute majority of the discography"- I am not sure about your logic on this. For a start do Kiss or Megadeth have a more 'consistent' discography than Iron Maiden? I don't think so. They have lots of missteps and disappointments and I could write off a big chunk of each of their discographies too if I cared to. I don't think you should punish bands for longevity either. Gypsy Kyss only has 3 studio albums, Crashdiet has 6, Cats in Space has 7, Iron Maiden has 17. Presumably if Iron Maiden has split up in 1987 they still might be one of your favourite bands 🤣 For example, I would name Rush as one of my favourite bands, but I don't like much of their discography past Grace Under Pressure. They have so many albums though and so many classic albums before that. My less favourite later albums don't neutralise or disqualify their previous albums though. A band are either a favourite or they're not - you either like any albums by them or you don't. It's not about getting the scales out on their discographies.
Like you, Defenders of the Faith was my first newly released Priest album. It was also my first concert and with Great White opening. Piece of Mind is also my favourite Maiden album! Revelations remains my favourite Maiden song. I’ve actually never owned an Armored Saint album, but I’ve been thinking recently to maybe pick one up. I enjoyed this video! I’ll watch your Maiden ranking one too.
That’s so cool that you saw the same tour I did, that Great White debut album is awesome! Try Armored Saint Symbol Of Salvation, it’s on my Top 50 favourite albums of all time list. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment, always appreciated 🤘 Cheers from Canada
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I used to have only the Great White debut. I'm hoping to pick it up again sometime. Thanks for the Armored Saint recommendation!
hot take....ripper sang the painkiller materiel wayyyy better than halford, live. and sorry, but i just cannot get into defenders....like every album after unleashed, it's half killer half filler, and the production is abysmal. half of british steel and half of point of entry would have made a monster of a record (metal gods, steeler, hot rockin, rapid fire, solar angels, desert plains, highway). same with defenders and vengeance (hellion, electric eye, vengeance, devil's child, freewheel, jawbreaker, sentinel, rock hard ride free)...but for real....defenders and vengeance are terrible sounding records. i had tix for king diamond in edmonton and yesterday got notice that the promoter cancelled the edmonton date. that's twice that the king has cancelled on me.
I was going to the Saskatoon show, I’m not to f#%king happy right now, “unforeseen circumstances” my ass!! So sad that my areas can’t support a show like that! There!! I feel better than I got to vent to you 🤣 Cheers from Saskatchewan
Yeah it’s 100% lack of sales. The production is too big to downsize to smaller venues in Edmonton. Calgary is still a go. Vancouver venue has been changed to a smaller room. I’m disappointed, but I get it. The promoter overshot this tour.
@@kowalsolosolo I’d never dispute that, that’s why I say “one of my favourites” on what I showed today. I should do a Top 50 favourite album covers one day, guarantee you Live After Death will be high on that list! Thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
W.A.S.P. and their Live At The Lyceum London /1984/ should be released on CD. Bits from this gig were added here and there to new remastered album reissues as bonus tracks but the whole live performance should be released as an independent live album.I had in on VHS once.
Freakin' loved this album at the time and still roll through it now and then. That's it for now, keep rockin' the content!

Anyway, just a few comments on some of these albums/bands:
Defenders of the Faith - Like you, my first concert was Judas Priest in support of this album...saw them in Columbus Ohio with Canada's own Kick Axe.
Here's mine:
1. Judas Priest - Painkiller (1990)
2. Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind (1983)
3. Black Sabbath - Mob Rules (1981)
4. Dio/Rainbow/Heaven & Hell - Holy Diver (1983)
5. Scorpions - Taken By Force (1977)
6. Queensryche - Operation: Mindcrime (1988)
7. Danzig - 4p (1994)
8. Ozzy Osbourne - Diary of a Madman (1981)
9. Saxon - Strong Arm of the Law (1980)
10. King Diamond/Mercyful Fate - Melissa (1983)
11. Accept - Balls to the Wall (1983)
12. Savatage - Gutter Ballet (1989)
Great list, great taste in music! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Kevin
Love THE SPIDERS LULLABYE too very much Darcy.
I always knew you had good taste 🤘 Cheers René
I have Live In London on VHS and have been having it since it was released. It's a very good concert. Very good video Darcy take care brother.🍻🤘
Such a killer pick,Darcy,i just missed saxon here in Madrid due to job reasons, but i am ready for cradle of filth and riot v Next week....
Here is my List :
1. Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King
2. Vicious Rumors - Digital Dictator
3. Iron Maiden - Powerslave
4. Dio - Holy Diver
5. Judas Priest - Screaming for Vengeance
6. Queensryche - The Warning
7. Riot - Thundersteel
8. Virgin Steele - Age of consent
9. Omen - Battle cry

I definitely expected to see Lizzy Borden on your list, them and Omen would definitely make my extended list. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Matt
Iced Earth such a sadly underated band ..,
Very good and also you showing those great live ones too. I liked those two Maiden live albums too. And your fave ACCEPT is mine too Darcy.

All I can say is … you have great taste! When Reign Of Fire kicks in I still get goosebumps. Thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
@ This choice won’t win me many fans but Judas Priest’s Painkiller is my #1 Favorite Metal Song! EVER!

Great topic. Balls to the wall is my favorite accept album.
Thank you Richard 🤘 Balls To The Wall is Metal royalty!
@@ShawnBoyko I will get on that 🤘 Cheers brother
To me "Flight 666" is by far the best.
Awesome top 10 list of traditional metal bands, Darcy! No surprise to see Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Saxon, Accept & Dio in there.
Ha ha yeah no surprises on this list! Cheers Tony 🤘
Darcy, just one correction: as to Mercyful Fate, I confused the titles-I meant "In The Shadows" instead of "Into the Unknown" ,even though that's a GREAT one too!👌👍🤝
Iron Maiden - Piece of Mind
Judas Priest -,British Steel
Angelwitch - Angelwitch
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell
Riot - Fire down under
UFO - Obsession
Accept - Restless and Wild
Loudness - The law of the Devils land
Raven - Wiped Out
Mercyful Fate - Melissa
Still love these albums.
Thats going to be a great show, Darcy! Night Demon is a great live band!

Don't think i can do a top 10 but top 3 is definitely
1 - Iron Maiden. Best album - somewhere in time
2 - judas priest. Best album - British steel
3 - Saxon.
Cheers
Enjoyed this rankings video. All these bands are great bands with many great albums, it’s hard to do these and pick the best albums.
You’re right it isn’t easy lol. Glad you enjoyed it 🤘 Cheers Andrew
Hi Darcy!!! well done adn cool list. not easy just to narrow to 10 bands/artists..... and also what's "traditional metal", but i guess old metalheads like us do understand the idea, so no issues seeing Maiden, Saxon, Priest or Accept here.
I feel I would have to separate picks from classic bands from back in the day and then more modern bands. Great vid mate 🤘🤘
I don’t think I have enough, modern bands left in my collection to make a video lol. I really tightened my belt over the past three years, you can’t buy everything and you definitely cannot listen to everything. Pick your battles 🤘 Cheers BVD
Another good video. We're getting ready for armored saint and wasp tonight. Do you know if any other opening bands?
I think Unto Others is also on the bill, they’re probably only get 30 minutes.

I will definitely get to those videos at some point, remember you can’t rush it … you gotta conserve ammunition 😉 Cheers mate

So, here's my TOP-10:
01. Iron Maiden - Seventh Son of a Seventh Son (1988)
02. Warlord - Deliver Us (1983)
03. Running Wild - Port Royal (1988)
04. Black Sabbath - Headless Cross (1989)
05. Queensrÿche - Operation Mindcrime (1988)
06. Manowar - Sign of the Hammer (1984)
07. Riot - Fire Down Under (1981)
08. Rage - Secrets In A Weird World (1988)
09. Manilla Road - Open the Gates (1985)
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Yeah, I am very pleased that Rage is now enjoying more and more recognition outside of Germany.
For me, Stormwitch - Tales of Terror is up at the top
That’s a killer album 🤘 Great choice :))
What do you think of the latest Accept album? I'm late to party getting it but I'm loving it
As far as the Mark Tornillo era goes it’s middle of the road, definitely better than The Rise Of Chaos but not close to Blood Of The Nations. Hope you are doing good Tim 🤘 always nice to hear from you :))
My favorite wasp is the debut also. They are touring that full album and i hope they come to Ireland, i see some European dates for next year but not Ireland yet but im hoping.
I hope you get to see them 🤘 Cheers Marty
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493hopefully Darcy I seen them last year or maybe it was 2 yrs ago now and I really enjoyed them.
I’ve been a Krokus fan since 1983, they’d definitely make my expanded list. Thanks for mentioning a few more of your favourites 🤘 Cheers Tim
1. Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast
2. Judas Priest - Stained Class
3. Saxon - Crusader
4. Dio - Holy Diver
5. W.A.S.P. - W.A.S.P.
6. Accept - Balls to the Wall
7. King Diamond - Abigail
8. Armored Saint - March of the Saint
9. Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King
10. U.D.O. - Animal House

Saxon.. gonna go with Denim and Leather. Still think that song has ine of the best riffs in metal.
Maiden...SSOASS
WASP debut is brilliant
Dio...Last in line
Sabbath.. Paranoid
Two bands that i love that i didn't know to include...
Metal Church..half traditional and thrash The debut is my favourite but Blessing in Disguise is more straight ahead metal. Its a banger
Manowar...Sign of the Hammer.

SAXON (Wheels Of Steel)
LIEGE LORD (Freedom's Rise)
PAGAN ALTAR (Volume One)
RUNNING WILD (Gates To Purgatory)
Very cool to see Liege Lord on your list, Master Control is my favourite from them. Running Wild is another great band. Thanks for taking the time to hang out with me 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Seriously difficult thing to name top 10 traditional metal bands, lots of 11s as you say 🤘
@paravan2000 At least 20 more 11’s lol. Thanks for watching 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
Good idea. I give you 6. Simply because they never change.
1. Kiss- (Music from) The Elder
2. Crashdiet- Rest in sleaze
3. Megadeth- Rust in peace
4. Fates Warning- No exit
5. Gypsy Kyss- When passion murdered innocense
6. Cats in space- Daytrip to narnia
The thing is, to call it a favourite band I have to love the absolute majority of the discography.
Presumably if Iron Maiden has split up in 1987 they still might be one of your favourite bands 🤣
For example, I would name Rush as one of my favourite bands, but I don't like much of their discography past Grace Under Pressure.
Not Live After Death album? The cover art is absolutely amazing. I think this is the best cover illustration they've had so far.
Bits from this gig were added here and there to new remastered album reissues as bonus tracks but the whole live performance should be released as an independent live album.I had in on VHS once.
some excellent choices me ode. Sodom SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOON
Late to the party but I've been burning through your content lately and have really enjoyed it. Some of your content really takes me back to my youth and formative metal days in the early '80s as a 13-14 year old, just some great memories. Anyway, just a few comments on some of these albums/bands:
Defenders of the Faith - Like you, my first concert was Judas Priest in support of this album...saw them in Columbus Ohio with Canada's own Kick Axe.
Freakin' loved this album at the time and still roll through it now and then.
That's it for now, keep rockin' the content!
