Great idea for a video, Darcy! I'm 100% on board with you when it comes to Killer Dwarfs. The reissue of the debut sounds incredible! The guitars are gritty and crunchy just the way I like it. FireHouse is another band whose debut is the best in my book, although their second album, "Hold Your Fire", is also great. The self-titled debut has been remastered, and my goodness, it packs a punch! The only other one I'd add to the list that springs to mind immediately is the debut album from Down, called "NOLA". I absolutely love Down, and I have all of their albums (I'll listen to anything that Phil Anselmo is part of - PanterA is my favorite band of all time), but the debut has always been the best in my opinion.

Hey Darcy, Love this concept, it's such a fun way to interact with the audience, share stories and opinions! For me personally my six are: #1: Slipknot - Slipknot (1999) debut: This is the first band I really dug into (researched / knew the timelines for releases, band members, etcetera), also the band that I think really made me dig into the metal world after growing up with hair metal and FFDP. Don't think anything beats this in the Nu-Metal category, it's heavy, emotional and dark, the samples and percussion is so unique. Nobody sounds like them and they've not made a bad album! #2: Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction: While many would say this is an undisputed best, leading to a severe drop in quality on the subsequent Use Your Illusion albums... I personally love both Use Your Illusion albums, especially UYI II. Civil War, Estranged, and Yesterdays are melodic, powerful and emotional without being sappy and cheesy (in my opinion). While Get In The Ring, Shotgun Blues, You Could be Mine and Pretty Tied Up are extremely solid rockers. Where Appetite was kind of a one trick pony in a sense, I think UYI is a more varied listening experience. I think Appetite is something I go back to the most though because of the fun, hair metal vibe of it and it being SO consistent throughout. #3: Rhapsody (of Fire) - Legendary Tales: My personal favorite Rhapsody album, the mix of folk, classical, symphonic, power metal and epic arrangements and pure dungeons and dragons cheese makes it a strong contender for one of my ten favorite metal albums of all time. A close second here is the bands sophomore record, Symphony of the Enchanted Lands, which is another masterpiece, and generally the fan favorite. #4: Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden: I'll admit it, I am a Paul Dianno enjoyer, and I think this album, while set in stone as my favorite Maiden record, is closely followed by Number of the Beast. Prowler, Transylvania, Iron Maiden, Charlot the Harlot, Phantom of the Opera?? The whole album is amazing. #5: Firehouse - Firehouse: My first favorite band at five years old! Rock on the Radio, All She Wrote, Don't Treat Me Bad. So many great glam metal rockers and ballads. The close second for me is their second album, Hold Your Fire! #6: The Eagles - Eagles: Take It Easy, Witchy Woman, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Tryin'. Man this album is phenomenal, I love the feel of it, I know Hotel California is beloved and iconic, but FM radio ruined it for me (still amazing), my second favorite Eagles album is On the Border! Cheers man!
Great Video. My choices of the top of my head are Helloween, Metal Church, WASP and Slipknot(My favourite band) Rage for Order is such an under appreciated album. I would place it above Warning but below Mindcrime. Looking forward to the next part.

Spelleater by Huntress. They released only three albums but the first one has always been the best. Pure ,classic heavy metal with a strong early Judas Priest vibe.
Afflicted and Terrorizer (easy choice for both 🙂), Entombed (despite I equally like a few of their albums), maybe Celtic Frost (but also the very strong next one and mini-LPs/EPs), maybe King Crimson (again there are at least a few equally great albums by them) etc. Great choice with UDO 👍🏻, same here 🙂 Added: Solefald, certainly! 🙂

Hard to disagree with the Dio selection, two great albums indeed, I'd forgotten all about "The Warning" to be honest (saw them supporting Kiss in 84), for me it's always been "Mindcrime", Skid Rows debut is a blinder, saw them to in 1989, "Slave To The Grind" kicks ass, my biggest close call would be Ratt, "Out Of The Cellar" just edges "Invasion", looking forward to the rest of the uploads.

It may seem controversial but I think that WAR AND PAIN by Voivod is their best album. Fierce,angry as hell,chaotic, they sound so pissed off that it is almost scary. They never played with the same level of insanity,even RROOAARRRR was not so strong.

Great Idea for a vid... Although I love Queensryche's Warning and think it is a great Album, to me Operation Mindcrime is my favorite; and I think it is one of the best Metal Albums of all Time. And of course I agree on Holy Diver.... ;-).. (by the way: Check out the Dio-Documentary, "Dreamers never die", but I bet you have already...) . Great to see some love for UDO's Timebomb (played it to death when it came out!). And my here is my suggestion for a great Metal Debut, never to be topped by the Band: Annihilator - Alice in Hell, and the following Never Neverland is closer than you think. Best whishes!

I have an idea for another show that you could share with your fans and subs! Take a band and put together another greatest hits album of songs that were not released as a single or were not on their previous greatest hits album or albums! For example Ratt had ratt n roll 8191 and tell the world the best of ratt! We could ask fans to make a 3rd greatest hits album of deep cuts or not currently on their first 2 greatest hits! I think id struggle to get 18 and largely down to me very rarely even having listened to a bands full discography. Dio id agree with. Probably Skid Row but i haven't heard everything. Testament, Disturbed and Machine Head would be in there. I haven't heard much Anacrusis but id lay money on me only liking the first. Agent Steel. Morbid Angel. Its tricky as most i could pick have tiny catalogues like Guns n Roses or Faster Pussycat. Oh how about Meat Loaf 😂 thats how hard i have to stretch things.
I actually thought about Anacrusis, but passed on them for this series. I wanted to stick to bands that I have a long history with, true #1’s not forced #1’s. I’m still working on those 4 Morbid Angel I have. Cheers brother 🤘

I absolutely love Down, and I have all of their albums (I'll listen to anything that Phil Anselmo is part of - PanterA is my favorite band of all time), but the debut has always been the best in my opinion.

Burning The Witches by Warlock. The best album this band /Doro included/ ever did. Every song is a kick-ass song! Pure,raw,angry heavy metal.

Love this concept, it's such a fun way to interact with the audience, share stories and opinions!
For me personally my six are:
#1: Slipknot - Slipknot (1999) debut:
This is the first band I really dug into (researched / knew the timelines for releases, band members, etcetera), also the band that I think really made me dig into the metal world after growing up with hair metal and FFDP.
Don't think anything beats this in the Nu-Metal category, it's heavy, emotional and dark, the samples and percussion is so unique. Nobody sounds like them and they've not made a bad album!
#2: Guns N' Roses - Appetite for Destruction:
While many would say this is an undisputed best, leading to a severe drop in quality on the subsequent Use Your Illusion albums... I personally love both Use Your Illusion albums, especially UYI II.
Civil War, Estranged, and Yesterdays are melodic, powerful and emotional without being sappy and cheesy (in my opinion). While Get In The Ring, Shotgun Blues, You Could be Mine and Pretty Tied Up are extremely solid rockers.
Where Appetite was kind of a one trick pony in a sense, I think UYI is a more varied listening experience.
I think Appetite is something I go back to the most though because of the fun, hair metal vibe of it and it being SO consistent throughout.
#3: Rhapsody (of Fire) - Legendary Tales:
My personal favorite Rhapsody album, the mix of folk, classical, symphonic, power metal and epic arrangements and pure dungeons and dragons cheese makes it a strong contender for one of my ten favorite metal albums of all time.
A close second here is the bands sophomore record, Symphony of the Enchanted Lands, which is another masterpiece, and generally the fan favorite.
#4: Iron Maiden - Iron Maiden:
I'll admit it, I am a Paul Dianno enjoyer, and I think this album, while set in stone as my favorite Maiden record, is closely followed by Number of the Beast.
Prowler, Transylvania, Iron Maiden, Charlot the Harlot, Phantom of the Opera??
The whole album is amazing.
#5: Firehouse - Firehouse:
My first favorite band at five years old! Rock on the Radio, All She Wrote, Don't Treat Me Bad. So many great glam metal rockers and ballads. The close second for me is their second album, Hold Your Fire!
#6: The Eagles - Eagles:
Take It Easy, Witchy Woman, Peaceful Easy Feeling, Tryin'. Man this album is phenomenal, I love the feel of it, I know Hotel California is beloved and iconic, but FM radio ruined it for me (still amazing), my second favorite Eagles album is On the Border!

Spelleater by Huntress. They released only three albums but the first one has always been the best. Pure ,classic heavy metal with a strong early Judas Priest vibe.
Afflicted and Terrorizer (easy choice for both 🙂), Entombed (despite I equally like a few of their albums), maybe Celtic Frost (but also the very strong next one and mini-LPs/EPs), maybe King Crimson (again there are at least a few equally great albums by them) etc.

Hard to disagree with the Dio selection, two great albums indeed, I'd forgotten all about "The Warning" to be honest (saw them supporting Kiss in 84), for me it's always been "Mindcrime", Skid Rows debut is a blinder, saw them to in 1989, "Slave To The Grind" kicks ass, my biggest close call would be Ratt, "Out Of The Cellar" just edges "Invasion", looking forward to the rest of the uploads.

It may seem controversial but I think that WAR AND PAIN by Voivod is their best album. Fierce,angry as hell,chaotic, they sound so pissed off that it is almost scary. They never played with the same level of insanity,even RROOAARRRR was not so strong.

Great Idea for a vid... Although I love Queensryche's Warning and think it is a great Album, to me Operation Mindcrime is my favorite; and I think it is one of the best Metal Albums of all Time. And of course I agree on Holy Diver.... ;-).. (by the way: Check out the Dio-Documentary, "Dreamers never die", but I bet you have already...) .
Great to see some love for UDO's Timebomb (played it to death when it came out!).
And my here is my suggestion for a great Metal Debut, never to be topped by the Band: Annihilator - Alice in Hell, and the following Never Neverland is closer than you think. Best whishes!

I think id struggle to get 18 and largely down to me very rarely even having listened to a bands full discography. Dio id agree with. Probably Skid Row but i haven't heard everything. Testament, Disturbed and Machine Head would be in there. I haven't heard much Anacrusis but id lay money on me only liking the first. Agent Steel. Morbid Angel. Its tricky as most i could pick have tiny catalogues like Guns n Roses or Faster Pussycat. Oh how about Meat Loaf 😂 thats how hard i have to stretch things.
I actually thought about Anacrusis, but passed on them for this series. I wanted to stick to bands that I have a long history with, true #1’s not forced #1’s. I’m still working on those 4 Morbid Angel I have. Cheers brother 🤘
