I recorded this video the day before hearing about the passing of Jack Russell, at the way too young age of 63. A true legend 🤘 This one’s for you Jack 🎤
I'll be seeing WASP in Dec. They're supposed to play the entire debut. Last time the show got canceled because of Blackie's back and the show before that got shut down by the fire marshal before WASP played, due to the show being oversold. Maybe the third time will be the charm. Haven't seen them since '86.
Wasp - Wasp Angel Witch - Angel Witch Savage - Loose N Lethal Satan - Caught in the Act Blitzkrieg - Blitzkrieg Diamond Head - Lightning to the Nations Torch - Torch Great list Darcy. I'm one of the few that would put The New Order in front of the Legacy, but I will always rate The Legacy as the greatest thrash metal debut album of all time, and I would put both of Testaments albums in my 10 favourite thrash metal albums. They are both that good. I agree with your Great White & Poison & the Wasp debut easily is their best & definitely in my top 3 metal debut albums of all time.
A few for me Darcy are, Forbidden-Forbidden Evil, Exhorder-Slaughter In The Vatican, S.O.D.-SEOD, Fear Factory-Soul Of A New Machine, Malevolent Creation-The Ten Commandemnts, Entombed-Left Hand Path. I absolutely love that WASP album! Great pics man! I know I went pretty heavy with my list but some of the greatest bands debuts are not my favs like Overkill (unfortunately) and Anthrax or Megadeth.
Here's my list: - Diamond Head - Lightning to the Nations, - Angel Witch - Angel Witch, - Exodus - Bonded by Blood, - Overkill - Feel the Fire, - Testament - The Legacy, - Nuclear Assault - Game Over.
Great show Darcy! Here are some of my picks: Mercyful Fate - Melissa Queensryche - The Warning Dio - Holy Diver Ratt - Out of the cellar Sword - Metalized Angel Witch - S/T Diamond Head - Lightning To The Nation Savage - Loose ’N’ Lethal Helloween - Walls Of Jericho Take care!🤘
Great topic, Darcy. The WASP debut choice im splitting with The Headless Children, they are even with my ears. A couple of other fantastic debut are Metel Church - metal church and Warrior- fighting for the earth. Rock on
Yes that Warrior album is great, I have nothing to compare it to, I lost track of them after that! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
LA Guns debut is a great choice! Shout At The Devil edges out Too Fast For Love for me, but it isn’t by much! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
Great picks for this one! The Legacy can hardly be dethroned in Testament's discography, even though they do have a really solid discography of course.
Had to cheat alittle bit again and do 8. 😅 1. Infernal overkill - destruction 2. Haunted - six feet under 3. Severed Survival - autopsy 4. L.D 50 - mudvayne 5. Stone sour - stone sour 6. Fallen - evanescence 7. Bonded by blood - exodus 8. The legacy - testament Of course all these bands have albums after these that i enjoy but they were never match or beat there first. These are the albums i think of when i think of these bands. Anyways awesome pt2! I was once able to accurately guess a few. 😆 stay heavy!
You can cheat all you want ha ha. I don’t go back that many years with Destruction, but I will say Infernal Overkill is must have thrash! Thanks as always 🤘 Tty soon :))
Perfect timing I found this video... having a steak and a Pepsi with my friend Darcy... Testament??? How come? Hahaha... Totally agree on WASP. Nowadays I only have that, the Live album and Headless Children left in my collection.
Hey Darcy! Great show on Planet6Strings as always, and hope all is going great with you up North! The all-time no brainer for me is GNR's Appetite for Destruction, haha! Keep up the great work and cheers! 😁🥃🍻
I’m just enjoying a few days at the lake with my wife & new puppy! Beauty day here, a nice 88F with very little wind! I remember the exact day I picked up Appetite, I also picked up another one that day, you’ll see it in Part 3. All of a sudden I’m craving some Kentucky bourbon 😉 Cheers Stephen
Great to see you give the Poison debut the thumbs up, I'm pretty much the same age as you so what you said was really relevant, in 86 rock was rock be it thrash or glam, I could quite easily listen to "Cry Tough" (yes, it is a classic) then flip on "Post Mortem" by Slayer, weirdly enough I never got to see the band here in the UK, finally saw them with The Crue and Leppard in Boston two years ago! Loved the Cinderella debut, though "Long Cold Winter" gives it a run for it's money, "Last Mile" is magnificent. Keep Rocking mate!
Oh forgot to say. If GNR had combined the best of the two Illusion albums they would have a classic single album, Chinese Democracy is a travesty, as were they live in London a few years ago with the worst sound I've EVER experienced! (we walked out after 30 mins!!)
I got to see Poision once, Don Dokken solo band opened, both bands were awesome. Nowadays you couldn’t pay me to go see Guns ‘N’ Roses. Thanks for the great comment, I love hearing other people’s thoughts. Hope to see you in the next one 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
I love Psycho City and listen to it several times a year. I love how the band stayed true to itself, even while grunge was popular (don't get me started on grunge). I also agree with you about Poison, and I like Night Songs but Long Cold Winter is my personal favorite, Still Climbing also good.
@@jimtoms7591 After recording Part 1 & 2 I listened to Hooked & Psycho City again, still think both are great! Then sadly a day later I hear about Jack. Thanks for the great comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
I think I agree with you with all of these Darcy. All outstanding albums. I listen to Chinese democracy every few years, I think the last time was last summer. The standout songs for me are If the world, there was a time and Madagascar. It's not a bad album, but has the feeling of a Axl solo album. Angel Witch would be a band for me that would fit this category. In fact a few nwobhm era bands would, like Satan as well. Also The Darkness.
Love to see Nothingface spinning in the back, such a fun unique band Voivod is. Nobody sounds like them! I definitely respect your Testament pick, such a phenomenal band, while my personal favorite's are Formation of Damnation and The New Order! Same for Poison! They're one of my first bands ever, I remember listening to Poison and Firehouse at five years old. Gotta agree with you that the debut is the best, I believe they have six albums? Not listened to the latter period ones though. My picks: #1: Boston - Boston This one is a no brainer for everyone who's heard it, one of the five greatest rock n' roll albums of all-time, and such a drop-off in quality after the debut. The second album came out two year later in '78, had a few good tracks, and that was it. Then they dropped off until '86 and never picked the steam up again. #2: Van Halen - Van Halen I This one is also a no-brainer for me, while I absolutely LOVE all of their albums (not Van Halen III, we do not speak about Van Halen III...) The debut is just different for me, the feel is different, the guitar and bass tones, Dave's vocals and lyrics, Alex' drumming, the mixing, everything is perfect. #3: Skid Row - Skid Row Skid Row's debut was the perfect sleazy hair metal album the world needed... The anthems 18 and Life, Youth Gone Wild, I Remember You, and songs like Sweet Little Sister and Here I Am absolutely rock. So many praise the follow-up but I feel it falls into a gray-area between being glam, and being something heavier while not exactly excelling at either. Just bland in my opinion aside from a few tracks (Get The Fuck Out, and Slave to the Grind). #4: Down - Nola Anything Phil Anselmo touches is gold, and this is no exception. The sludgey, groovey, and undeniable heaviness of this record blows me away everytime. This was Phil at his lyrical best as well, Stone the Crow will always be an all-time favorite song for me. The musicality (riffs and guitar tone, crushing bass, drums like a shotgun), the whole thing is insane. #5: Angra - Angels Cry I love Angra's straightforward Power Metal style the most and this album scratches that itch SO WELL. This is perfect, the opening song Carry On, and the title track Angels Cry are two of my 25 favorite power metal songs, towards the top no less. #6 - Velvet Revolver - Contraband I know these guys only have two albums, but this debut was a masterpiece. The followup "Libertad" was rushed and unpolished, huge a letdown from the debut. It's basically Guns N' Roses with Scott Weiland of Stone Temple Pilots, what's not to love!
Interesting part 2 Darcy. Great White's debut is a classic. Still missing a few of their releases unfortunately. R.I.P Jack Russell. Another fallen hero 😢. That Cinderella album is clearly their best imho. Have a great week my friend 🍻.
Good take. Agree with a lot if what you said. Testament's debut is killer as was the New Order. Thought Practice was a bit of a drop off GnR. ..nothing to say. Its fantastic. Night Songs is great, but i like every album of theirs. Great White first album is good, but i didnt followm tgem much. They did open for Priest in Toronto on the Defenders Tour (my first concert) WASP's debut still kicks ass. Hellion and Tormentor are bangers. Poison has grown on me over the years. LWTCDI is a fun album Just thought of a couple others of the top of my head Debuts by Love/Hate, Ugly Kid Joe and Lizzie Borden's Love You to Pieces were my faves. Lizzie Borden were very underrated in my opinion.
I definitely considered Lizzy Borden, who I am a big fan of, but I honestly can’t make up my mind between Love You To Pieces & Menace To Society. Love/Hate is a great pick! Thanks for the great comment 🤘 Cheers Steve
Great choices for debuts again! I just listened to Psycho City today. I never even bothered to get Chinese Demacracy it just wasn't GNR. Looking forward to part 3 Darcy!
Great choices Darcy!! WASP, same for me, KFD rules, I love that album Testament, totally agree, I fell off with them after Low, I was expecting you to lead with this one 😂 Great White, no opinion, I guess I need to get the first 2 of theirs, I lost track of them in 1993-94. RIP Jack Russell Poison - totally agree, first 3 for me, great live band! Cinderella, for me Long Cold Winter is #1, Night Songs #2, Heartbreak Station made me think they wanted to go country, never heard the 4th one Guns And F%&ing Roses, Biggest and Best debut of all time!!! Chinese Democracy, never heard it, I ignored that one. So I’ll add a “glaring omission” here that for me is one of the best thrash albums of the 80’s: Flotsam & Jetsam with “Doomsday For The Deceiver” Rock on Darcy!! Cheers Ed 🍺
Great comment brother! Doomsday For The Deceiver is 1B & No Place For Disgrace 1A for this guy. Only 26 more sleeps until I Am The Weapon Comes Out ha ha 🤘 Tty soon :))
Hi Darcy!!1 cool part two..... i think you're right about W.A.S.P. and Cinderella, still need to listen their last studio album. You can make a case G'n'R, band you only need one record. Another cool first albums Tora Tora, Satan, Living Colour. cheers and be well
The W.A.S.P. debut is an all-time fav. I just spun it yesterday. Love Tormentor. Met them at Tower Records. KFD is high in my list, too. Watch my ranking vid. Hilarious. 1st 2 Great White albums are excellent. Poison for us, being like 16, were sort of a chick band. I swa them open for David Lee Roth on the Open Up And Say...Ah! Tour. They were party rock. I tend to love Flesh N Blood more than anything else. 1st Cinderella is amazing. Saw them open for David Lee Roth in 86 on the Eat Em And Smilentour. They just stood there trying to look cool. Disappointing. Then Dave and the gang mopped the floor with them. Love me some debut Testament. With Alex in the band I think they definitely have an edge. Without Alex, they're pedestrian. You doing Ratt? Out Of The Cellar is genius. An all-time fav. Or Ozzy with Blizzard Of Ozz?
Another great instalment in this series 🤘as you said all no brainers except for WASP for me as Headless Children is king for me. KFD I like but not found an affordable copy yet. RIP Jack Russell
Yep, that W.A.S.P., Testament, Great White, and Poison debut albums are undeniable classics. Testament is the only band in that bunch who's later albums came close to being as good as their debut IMO.
Night Songs is probably in my Top 25 albums. Cinderella is definitely an under appreciated band. Oddly enough I have never listened to Still Climbing. Maybe a friend will have a copy for sale one day 🤷♂️
I was hoping for a Cinderella vinyl box set, if that happens then the CDs will go! Either that or I’ll have to blow a hole in this wall, probably not good for my marriage 🙄 Cheers brother
Cant argue with any of them debuts. Love them all. Do you really want to spend any time digging into even later Great White or Poison? You have 4 absolutely golden years of death metal between 89 and 93 untapped!
Don’t worry I’ll keep tapping lol. I did find one Great White I still want, it’s called Can’t Get There From Here. Oh yeah I need those Running Wild, need to get on that!
Finally getting sometime to catchup on this series. There are worse WASP albums than KFD for sure. You own 6 more White Lion albums than me 😂. Testament, GNR, Cinderella and WASP just had to be in here.
I understand your point on WASP debut, but i think i prefer The Last Command, which is surprising even to me. Long Cold Winter is the better one. Still Climbing was just reissued on vinyl.Like you said Appetite is a no brainer. Never heard Chinese Democracy. I've never been that big on Poison so i don't really know do i prefer Cat or Open Up. I think you already have the third part up, so i'm looking forward to checking it out. Pasi
I think Long Cold Winter is a great album too! My favourite track on that album is Fire & Ice, it’s more in the lines of the debut. You can’t go wrong with any of the first four W.A.S.P. albums. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Pasi
Hallo my friend ! I have at least 4 Albums Halford "Resurrection" Ozzy "Blizzard of Ozz" Dio "Holy Diver" Lynch Mob "Wicked Sensation" Have a nice day,Heiko
Wicked Sensation is a great choice, I’ve had it for years! I do have their 2nd album, but I don’t know anything past that. Thanks for sharing a few of your favourites 🤘 Cheers Heiko
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I think nobody gave any chance and did not listen to Chinese Democracy. It was the same problem when Another Perfect Day (Motorhead) was released in 1983. I always loved that fantastic album.
Breaking The Silence is a great album, but I like Victims Of Deception just a bit better. Icon & Spread Eagle are both great choices. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
IMO Metallica 'kill em all' and Anthrax 'fistful of metal' would be on my list , bought them both off the racks when they were released .... sentimentality maybe ? Both killer to me . Cheers Darcy. 👍
I got a few coming up like that in Part 3, I mean lots of them could end up in the “Timing” category, but some are just extra special! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Double R
I will say:¨ Accept - Objection Overruled (1993) First reunion album thay made! Udo, Peter, Stefan and Wolf Hoffmann. And its sound som old Accept in my option
Yes I have! I check it out a few days ago & now it’s on what’s list, very good album! Hope all is good with you Dustin 🤘 Oh before I let you go, should Death Angel move on without Mark? Looks like he likes money better than doing the right thing!?
@darcysixstringsninelives3493 It makes no sense to put death angel on the back burner like that in the first place. Mark is the voice of death angel. Without him, it wouldn't be the same. I just hope this doesn't break up the band because mark can't seem to pull it together.
Off the top of my head: Motley - Too Fast For Love Vain - No Respect Wrathchild - Stakk Attakk Faster Pussycat - S/T Possessed - Seven Churches Overkill - Feel The Fire Exodus - Bonded By Blood and probably nobody will agree but for me Metallica is never going to top Kill 'em All.
Yeah I’m not a big fan of that song. If you want to hear a good Great White cover song, Face The Day is where it’s at! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Never knew it was a cover song either. Well, I might have 40 years ago or something but now you're going to make me go look up the original song which is probably a freaking nightmare but thank you anyway!
Ok. I watched a live version of the original. It's definitely not as horrendous as I expected it to be. I guess it was just a great white version that just irritated to piss
Yeah I think Chris and Blackie were both going through a dark time in their lives, it definitely reflected on this album! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Good picks! Most I cannot disagree with. In terms of Great White, I would recommend the albums "Let It Rock" and "Can't Get There from Here". After that I find that their songwriting got generic and formulaic. R.I.P. Jack. As for Poison, "Crack a Smile" is okay but a bit modern. Avoid the other two albums after that. Cinderella never put out a bad album but they never came close to that debut. W.A.S.P. and Testament have very consistent discographies. After "The Spaghetti Incident" from Guns N' Roses, I could care less. Although Hard Skool was a decent throwback song.
@@DokkenSabbath I actually listened to Can’t Get There From Here this morning, I will be tracking that one down, it’s awesome! I’ll give Let It Rock a go tomorrow. Thank you for the recommendations & thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy

Wasp - Wasp
Angel Witch - Angel Witch

Satan - Caught in the Act
Blitzkrieg - Blitzkrieg
Diamond Head - Lightning to the Nations

Same for Poison! They're one of my first bands ever, I remember listening to Poison and Firehouse at five years old. Gotta agree with you that the debut is the best, I believe they have six albums? Not listened to the latter period ones though.
My picks:
#1: Boston - Boston

Flesh & Blood is my fav from Poison. The material of the album is awesome, unfortunately is not their debut. Great job Darcy!!!
Finally getting sometime to catchup on this series. There are worse WASP albums than KFD for sure. You own 6 more White Lion albums than me 😂. Testament, GNR, Cinderella and WASP just had to be in here.
I actually don’t own any White Lion albums 😂
Doh I meant Great White, I don't own any of them either!
@@metalmogul Well you need that debut for sure, the rest I think you’d pass on.
One easy for me is my favorite John Sykes release, the "Blue Murder" S/T album
Oh man I haven’t heard that in years, good pick! I’m gonna put that on my playlist for tomorrow morning 🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I would also pick the first "Lynch Mob" album. I will put it up there with the best Dokken releases. Cheers
I'd vote for the Psychotic Waltz debut album "A Social Grace".
I’ve never heard it, I’ll check it out! Thanks for the recommendation and thanks for watching 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Hallo my friend ! I have at least 4 Albums
Halford "Resurrection"
Ozzy "Blizzard of Ozz"
Dio "Holy Diver"
Lynch Mob "Wicked Sensation"
Have a nice day,Heiko
Wicked Sensation is a great choice, I’ve had it for years! I do have their 2nd album, but I don’t know anything past that. Thanks for sharing a few of your favourites 🤘 Cheers Heiko
I wasn't a huge fan of Jack but respect the music he made
Salut Darcy. I agree 100% about the 1st Wasp album. But i prefer Chinese Democracy more than Appetite for Destruction.
Oh wow I’ve never heard anyone say that before! Time for me to revisit Chinese Democracy. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Francis
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 I think nobody gave any chance and did not listen to Chinese Democracy. It was the same problem when Another Perfect Day (Motorhead) was released in 1983. I always loved that fantastic album.
That’s one of favourite Motörhead albums!
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 😄👍🤘
Here's some I think sit very high above the rest of the bands catalogue imo:
SPREAD EAGLE - s/t
HEATHEN - Breaking The Silence
ICON - s/t
Breaking The Silence is a great album, but I like Victims Of Deception just a bit better. Icon & Spread Eagle are both great choices. Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
Angel Witch (1980)
Great White (1984)
Ratt - Out if the Cellar
Rush (1974)
Tygers of Pan Tang - Wild Cat
Witchfinder General - Death Penalty
That Witchfinder General is something special, great pick! Thanks for sharing a few of your favourites 🤘 Stay Heavy ~ Darcy
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 🤘
Cinderella's '"Night Songs"". Their best album.
I will say:¨
Accept - Objection Overruled (1993) First reunion album thay made! Udo, Peter, Stefan and Wolf Hoffmann. And its sound som old Accept in my option
Have you listened to can't get there from here album from Great White, a very underrated album in my opinion
Tony was not with W.A.S.P. when you seen them. KFD was awesom!!! My tortured eyes was awesom!!!
I had a feeling Steve was already in the band by then. Thanks for letting me know & thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Have you heard a band called beyond the black . I just order some of them 🎤🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🥁👍🏻🇬🇧👍🏻
No I haven’t, I’ll look them up! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Mark
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 they are good and I got wasp reidolized
How about loudness thunder in the east. I know all the albums are good but that's the best
That’s definitely my favorite, but unfortunately it’s not the debut album. Maybe we can count it because it was the first outside of Japan, I think 🤔
I liked KFD,
🤟🇮🇪
What’s up Frank 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
Off the top of my head:
Motley - Too Fast For Love
Vain - No Respect
Wrathchild - Stakk Attakk
Faster Pussycat - S/T
Possessed - Seven Churches
Overkill - Feel The Fire
Exodus - Bonded By Blood
and probably nobody will agree but for me Metallica is never going to top Kill 'em All.
WASP
Once bitten twice shy is on the top of one of the worst songs in Rock and roll ever u
Yeah I’m not a big fan of that song. If you want to hear a good Great White cover song, Face The Day is where it’s at! Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Oh canada. That country needs some serious help! I like Sacrifice and Kick Axe.
If you mean our government, yeah I could agree with that 😂
Never knew it was a cover song either.
Wasp kfd was written by Chris he broke up with Lita Ford all written about her
Yeah I think Chris and Blackie were both going through a dark time in their lives, it definitely reflected on this album!
