Yeah great list my friend !! I miss four Albums....... Gotus "Debut" Album" This is a very nice Hardrock Album with Gotthard&Krokus Members Axel Rudi Pell "Risen Symbol" Dark Mile "Dark Mile" is also a very awsome Hardrock Album The End Machine "The Quantum Phase" with my all time favourite Guitarist George Lynch and with the very smart Vocalist Girish Pradhan So have a nice day and cheers,Heiko
Great picks for 2024 so far! I’ve picked upp Saxon, Rage, Judas Priest and Dickinson. Besides those albums I really like the new Evergrey album ”Theories Of Emptiness” and after I heard the new Opeth song from the forthcoming album ”The Last Will And Testament” I had to preorder that one! Take care Darcy!🤘
I am actually working with Bruce Dickinson on his Mandrake Project comic series -the issue #3 was supposed to be published by Z2 this month. We are working on #4 right now!
Hi Darcy. My top 10 so far: 1- Judas Priest 2- Saxon 3- Riot V 4- Accept 5- Rage 6- Bruce Dickinson 7- Dream Evil 8- Deep Purple 9- Blaze Bayley 10- Powerwolf
I’m seeing a lot of people mentioning the new Powerwolf, I’m on holidays this week so I’ll add it to my playlist. Thanks for sharing your Top 10 so far 🤘 Cheers Lucas
Saxon is in my top 3 this year. JP also in my top 3. The bonus tracks on the digi are killer. I need to get that Atrophy. Took a few spins for the Accept to click with me. I miss Herman Frank in Accept. Anything Herman does rocks. No brainer buy with Flots & Jets. I love the new Deep Purple very '70s influenced. Bewitcher, no brainer buy. The new Traveler is by far their best. Killer update.
just got back from Toronto, canada this morning ( i live in Montreal), i just watched one of the best concerts ive seen in a long long time. Sammy hagar and friends. The show was absolutely amazing. The band played for over 2 hours playing a total of 21 songs, 15 of those VH songs. Generally i like my music heavier like Metallica sabbath priest accept saxon but i have to give credit where credit is due man. Amazing show!!!!!!!
Good summary of the year so far Darcy. It's been a very strong year so far, especially for my favourite bands. The Exodus live is very impressive, not picked it up yet but it's on the list with many other releases. Deep purple is very good, I think it can hold its own against their classic albums. I have been picking up a few releases that you haven't mentioned and are worth a listen: Magnum - Here comes the rain, Lionheart - The grace of a dragonfly, Demon - Invincible, Blaze Bayley - Circle of stone, Slash - Orgy of the damned. Yeah like you said it's hard to keep up with everything, let alone buy them all.
Fully checked out! Fantastic!! I just ordered their 2nd & 3rd albums on vinyl just this morning. The new one could easily be an album of the year contender 🤘 Thanks to everyone that has recommended this band to me :))
It is not a new thing but I need to share it anyway. I have just bought the LEATHER LEONE's ""We Are The Chosen'' album from 2022 and...Jesus,this record is ABSOLUTELY awesome! If you havent heard it yet, please, check it out. Pure, raw, angry heavy metal with INSANE solos and Leather's mature, strong voice.
Great video. Another good album es Mean Streets from Riot V, although they are a totally different band from the original Riot in terms of style and group members.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Kerry King, I passed on that one as well. That fell into the same "category" as Category 7 haha. HUGE John Bush fan as well but none of the advanced singles really intrigued me. I also have the HammerFall preordered. Just picked up the new Dream Evil too. Really killer stuff! 10 songs, 42 mins in length, perfect! Just great traditional power metal. Cheers, Darcy!🤘🏻
Yes the Kerry King would fall right in with Category 7, plus Mark’s over the top vocals just don’t sit right with me. Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers from Planet6Strings
Awesome update Darcy. 2024 has been amazing so far. Some of the studio releases that i picked up and highly recommend: The Rods, Riot V, Scanner, Blaze Bayley, Suicidal Angels, Exhorder, Demon, Attacker, Ironflame, Paul Dianno, Axel Rudi Pell, Dream Evil and Aska. Waiting for the new F&J, Hammerfall and Riley's L.A. Guns. I barely miss anything 😂.
Great video as always, Darcy! Your videos are a highlight for me whenever they come out. I'm loving 2024 so far! My 7 favorite albums of the year so far are: "Hell, Fire & Damnation" from Saxon, "Invincible Shield" from Judas Priest, "Warp Speed Warriors" from DragonForce, "Humanoid" from Accept, "The Stygian Rose" from Crypt Sermon, "Asylum" from Atrophy, and "Avenge the Fallen" from HammerFall. I know the HammerFall album literally just came out yesterday, but it's automatically in my top albums of the year. I absolutely love HammerFall - I own all 13 albums in their discography and am actually listening through the entire catalog in chronological order and can't wait to get to the new album again (I'm currently listening to "Infected" from 2011). I love the vocals from Jaocim Cans, although I can see how they might not be everyone's cup of tea. They balance heaviness and melody so well, and there's not a single weak album in the entire catalog. Really looking forward to the new Dead Daisies album! I'm completely on board with you in terms of the vocalist. Hughes is an amazing singer, but I prefer Corabi's voice for what the Dead Daisies do. I'm overjoyed that he's back in the band. The new Flotsam and Jetsam album is gonna absolutely crush! Can't wait for that one as well. I was really hoping Death Angel and Testament would both release albums this year, but it looks like we won't get one from either band until next year, which is a bummer. I'm also hoping Whitechapel puts out their next one later this year, since it's been nearly 3 years since their last one. And a criminally underrated hard rock/metal band that's in my top 7 bands of all time is Sweden's very own Bullet! I think I saw you mention them in a video from earlier this year and was ecstatic to see someone else promoting them. Ever since their debut album, "Heading for the Top" in 2006, I've loved the band, but I've grown increasingly discouraged that they're not together anymore. Have you heard/read anything about them lately? Their last release was "Dust to Gold" in 2018. Hope they're still going!
@@JamesThomas-dz4vj Thanks for the kind words, a comment like this is a highlight for me. I’ve already listened to the new HammerFall 5 times in full, it’s great, I’m so happy I like it! I haven’t heard any new Bullet info, if I do I’ll be sure as shit be talking about it lol. Love those guys. Thanks again for makes this fun 🤘 Stay Heavy Duty ~ Darcy
Comprehensive recap of the year in metal so far in your metal tastes 🤘I’ve only picked up a half dozen thrash albums this year so far and most on cd. Looking forward to adding the new Flots to what I’ve grabbed so far
I’ll listen to that tomorrow morning, I’m on holidays this week so there’s lots of time for tunes! Just looked it up, 32 mins that’s perfect! Thanks for the recommendation 🤘 Cheers Matt
My pickups for 2024 are almost identical, hahaha... Initially I did not intend to pick up the new Atrophy but I found the vinyl for a good price recently and got it in last week. Surprisingly good! Also got the latest Evil Dead but I´m struggling a bit with it, not bad but no killer either... The new Purple could be my album of the year, it´s that good! Let´s wait for the official announcemet for the Sodom box 🤞
Yes bring on more Sodom! I listened to the new Deep Purple on my way to the lake yesterday, I’m still not buying it lol. I’m not big on all that keyboard-eee stuff, but a couple tracks that I really liked were A Bit On The Side, love the riff, also Pictures Of You was really good! Hope all is good with you 🤘 Cheers brother
Nice video and stuff Darcy. I will check the albums i dont know today. Other albums that stands out for me this year are from borknagar , rotting christ , gatecreeper and the new Powerwolf is ok. Stay heavy!
I recently bought Bruce's entire solo collection and the Samson box set. I listened to all the solo albums once, Tattooed Millionaire a few times, but I lost count how many times I listened to Samson. I'm slowing down my collecting so I'm going to try and spend more time on those solo albums.
Yeah, it’s nice to just slow down! I’ve done the same over the past 2 to 3 years, really trying to enjoy what I already have without piling on lol. That Samson set is great! Thanks as always 🤘 Cheers Greg
2024 releases in my playlist: Attic...king diamond clone...great songwriting Nestor...arena rock Crypt Sermon...epic doom Saxon...heavy metal Hellbutcher...blackened trash Fu Manchu...stoner rock Hamferd...death doom with operatic singing the watchers...grunge
I was so close to pulling the trigger on that Hellbutcher, I still might! It’s definitely blackened thrash done right, just the right amount of everything. Thanks for sharing a few of your ‘24s 🤘 Cheers from Canada
Hi Darcy!! so far 2024 has been a pretty cool year with a nice mix of newer releases and reissues/boxsets..... and a handful of good surprises like the new Atrophy, Deep Purple just to name a few. Btw i have the same feeling about Category 7 and other super groups like the one "Blitz" had. cheers and be well
I actually sold that CD with Blitz, Portnoy & those two other guys. I just never played it. Thanks as always for checking in on me 🤘 Stay Heavy in Santiago
Great pickups so far this year, it’s been a real good year for releases, but Corabi and Cantrell are highly anticipated in Frankie’s world, can’t wait til they are released, take it easy.
Ha ha yeah I know you’re looking forward to those, me too! You need to check out Victory, it’s right up your alley, good melodic hard rock. Hope you’re enjoying the holiday Monday 🍻 Cheers from the lake where it’s 5 o’clock all day long :))
Saxon and Priest albums are stellar. Not too big on the Bruce or Accept records. In the thrash scene, I believe Sacrifice are putting something out soon. I gotta check out that Live Metal Church album. Darcy, do you remember the Record Peddler in Toronto? Made many pilgrimages from Hamilton back then. Also I loved all the little shops along Yonge street where you could get metal tees.
Many good releases so far. Judas Priest, Saxon, Riot V, Witherfall. As a big progmetal fan I recommend Teramaze. Now I enjoy the debut album of Black Smoke Trigger which is more heavy rock. Live album from Tygers of Pantang is also very good.
I’ll check out Teramaze, I really like Hard Rock touching on a bit of metal! I go through my little phases where I like listening to stuff on the lighter more melodic side. Thanks as always for taking the time to comment 🤘 Have a great weekend :))
Thanks for the update. Those are some solid choices. Here’s a list of the albums I’ve picked up this year. Keep up the great content! Accept - Humanoid Blaze Bayley - Circle of Stone Ravage - Spider On The World Savage Oath - Divine Battle Solitary Sabred - Temple of the Serpent Crypt Sermon - The Stygian Rose Exodus - British Disaster
Hey Darcy! Great update. Priest, Saxon, DIckinson, Accept, Frehley, King are all the usual suspects that I have been enjoying a lot. Necrot, Exhorder, Deicide and Six Feet Under are also getting a ton of play. I did pick up the new DragonForce but personally I prefer the last two albums over this one. Right now I have Nile, Stryper and Flotsam and Jetsam on preorder. Take care Darcy and as always, my friend stay heavy!
Griffin -Flight Of The Griffin is one of the best albums ever. I’ve enjoyed the new albums by Paul Dianno, Blaze Bayley, Bruce, Priest, Saxon, and Blue Oyster Cult.
@@jasonbala7858 I’ll have to check out that Griffin album, as well as the Paul Di’anno. Thanks for sharing a few of your favorites so far 🤘 Cheers Jason
For me while I very much enjoy collecting vinyl, I'm not in a place where I can afford to buy a ton of new releases and therefore stick to concerts of bands I really enjoy and classic albums I know I'll listen too (for vinyl). But some new albums I've listened to digitally and really enjoyed were: Bruce Dickinson - Mandrake Project Powerwolf - Wake Up the Wicked (my album of the year!) Judas Priest - Invincible Shield Exhorder - Defectum Omnium Accept - Humanoid (great mention of this, almost forgot, Frankenstein was such a fun track on this for me!) Not the biggest year for releases it seems, I think 2025 will be huge though! Reports are that Testament, Exodus, Metallica, Megadeth, Slipknot, King Diamond / Mercyful Fate, and a ton more are potentially releasing / working on new material. I know 100% Testament and Exodus plan to release in '25... Sodom has been trying to get one out since '23 as well, so maybe the time is now haha. I'm very excited for the coming year for sure!
I need to check out that Powerwolf. I’m pumped that I get to go to a couple concerts this year, still hope Judas Priest comes around my area. Thanks as always my friend 🤘 Have a great week
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 the new Powerwolf album is reallt great! They're kind of like an AC/DC in the sense that the albums are pretty similar, you know what you'll get, formulaic, fun, goofy power metak with chanty sing-along choruses haha. Glad you've got some concerts coming up as well, Priest would have been great to see, maybe they'll add more dates nearby to us, I know for my state they only played Rockville festival. You have a great week too Darce!
Some thoughts: Lots of crossover with our purchases so far. With the exception of the Jerry Cantrell album, definitely planning on getting everything you've pre ordered. Agree with the Category 7 album. Something missing there. And since you've mentioned it to me before, I'll give you another reminder....GET SOME FIREWIND, LOL. The new one isn't their best, but it's still really good. Stay well, my friend!
Hey Darcy. Lot's of great stuff that's come out this year for sure. I've been picking up those Saxon reissues coming off from MOV as they come along. What's that Metal Church in the background? I'm guessing you're going to see King Diamond? and Overkill!! your fav thrash band! enjoy the summer Darcy.
@@jasonbala7858 We definitely share a lot of the same taste in metal. Try that Victory album, hard rock with great vocals & lots of hooks. Have a great rest of your week 🤘
You should get the new Traveler album, I'm sure you'll like it. I saw them play this past March at the Hell's Heroes festival, and that made me go right over to their merch table and pick up the vinyl. It's great. 🤘
Yes I’ll better get moving on that one, thanks for the kick in the ass! Cool that you got see them, my friend sent me a T-shirt from Hell’s Heroes, I’ll wear in future video. Thanks as always 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
Cool video. Some good albums released this year, Saxon is my album of the year so far, they are on such a great run of form. I'd never listened to Atrophy until I heard the new album, definitely my favourite thrash album of 2024. Also enjoy the Kerry King album. Keep up the good work 🤘
If you haven't already you should check out the new Suicidal Angels album Profane Prayer that came out in March. I picked up the Cavalera - Schizophrenia rerecord they did that came out in June and is really good. The others they did last year are good too. Besides the new Flotsam and Cantrell albums the only others im looking forward to is the new Black Dahila Murder and 1349. Hope you are surviving the heat up there!
The AFM Shop has been down or something, which is really scary becuase I just pre ordered everthing from Flotsam from that site and then the next day the shop site disappeared?
the first 2 hammerfall albums were great. yeah the vocal is a little limited....it reminds me a little of biff byford's. don't kill me...i love the new Saxon. if you are itching for new king diamond materials, check out Attic's return of the witchfinder.
Ha ha no killing! I’m going to give the new HammerFall a lot of time, the first 3 songs are really good. A little cheesy with some of the lyrics, but that is something I like! Feel good Metal I like to say. Thanks for the recommendations and thanks for watching 🤘 Take care ~ Darcy
I've only picked up 1 album this year. My Silent Wake. Awful band name but great album. I wanted to get the Hellbutcher album but it's not cheap enough. I'll be getting Massive Wagons, Undeath and Molder all out in the next few months but 4 to 5 new albums in a year is ample for me. I almost got that Bruce Dickinson album a few months ago but talked myself out of it 😂
Darcy do you put vinyl covers over your records? I’ve never seen you do so and wondering why you don’t? That’s not asking as in you should but just curious? Also, what happened to our Green Riders last week? A loss to the Elks?? Ugh!!!!
Ok now that I realized how much I hate Aaron Rodgers, here's a list that Darcy asked for in his last vid but will include here. So I'm From Montreal Canada 1. Deep purple. Aug 27 2. kk priest with accept Sept 11th 3. Priest Sept 13th. Then right after the show ends I get on a bus to Toronto to watch blue jays on the 14th and 15th 4. Extreme & living colour. Sept 28 5. Udo. Oct 2nd 6. Testament with I don't care who. Oct 4th 7. Maiden in Toronto. Oct 26th 8. Maiden in Montreal. Oct 30th 9. King diamond overkill and night demon. Nov. 2nd Night demon has become my new favourite band. 10. Wasp with death angel nov 13th 11. Creed nov 27th 12. The violin band that plays metallica I forget their name. Appolytica something like that. The bottom line I love anything metallica. ABBA could be playing metallica songs and I would go but yet Darcy won't drive 10 minutes to see them live in Edmonton P.s. I didn't include Exodus sometime in November cause I haven't decided about that one yet
Some great buys there me ode, nothing wrong with German Thrash, Metal & Heavy Rock, i love it and to me it's the best in the world. i'm waiting for the new Victory album as well, Culture Killed The Native is my fav of theirs by a long way.
But some new albums I've listened to digitally and really enjoyed were:
Bruce Dickinson - Mandrake Project
Powerwolf - Wake Up the Wicked (my album of the year!)
Judas Priest - Invincible Shield
Exhorder - Defectum Omnium
Accept - Humanoid (great mention of this, almost forgot, Frankenstein was such a fun track on this for me!)
Not the biggest year for releases it seems, I think 2025 will be huge though!
Awesome 2024 releases, Darcy! Judas Priest, Saxon, Bruce Dickinson, and Atrophy.
Some thoughts:
Lots of crossover with our purchases so far.
Great stuff! I bought pretty much the same this year :) I dont know what you think about Opeth but their new album is a must for me. Keep rockin
Accept, live Metal Church, live Exodus , and have new Hammerfall on preorder.
Keep up the good work 🤘
Cool stuff, just picked up a OG copy of Atrophy “socialized hate” killer album! I’ll have to check that one out!
If you like the first 2 Atrophy you’re gonna like this one! Thanks as always 🤘 I hope you’re having a great summer.
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 thanks Darcy great summer… hope yours is as well! I’ll grab it 🤟
Really inspiring to see all these 2024 LPs. Right on brother
Blaze Bayley's new cd is in my top 10 of Metal cds of 2024 while the new Bruce Dickinson cd is lower.
Anvil!!!!
the first 2 hammerfall albums were great. yeah the vocal is a little limited....it reminds me a little of biff byford's. don't kill me...i love the new Saxon. if you are itching for new king diamond materials, check out Attic's return of the witchfinder.
Ugh!!!!
Ha ha I’m watching the game right now, need a win! Yes I sleeve all my records, I just remove them for videos & to prevent glare. Good question 🤘
Agree D'Arcy Category 7 did nothing for me.
I do have Portrait cd
Salut Darcy. I admire pour enthousiasm for New music but i dont share it...
No problem we all like what we like 🤘
@@darcysixstringsninelives3493 Maybe i'm too old now for that new music.🤣🤘
Ok now that I realized how much I hate Aaron Rodgers, here's a list that Darcy asked for in his last vid but will include here.
So I'm From Montreal Canada
1. Deep purple. Aug 27
2. kk priest with accept Sept 11th
3. Priest Sept 13th. Then right after the show ends I get on a bus to Toronto to watch blue jays on the 14th and 15th
4. Extreme & living colour. Sept 28
5. Udo. Oct 2nd
6. Testament with I don't care who. Oct 4th
7. Maiden in Toronto. Oct 26th
8. Maiden in Montreal. Oct 30th
9. King diamond overkill and night demon. Nov. 2nd
Night demon has become my new favourite band.
10. Wasp with death angel nov 13th
11. Creed nov 27th
12. The violin band that plays metallica I forget their name. Appolytica something like that. The bottom line I love anything metallica. ABBA could be playing metallica songs and I would go but yet Darcy won't drive 10 minutes to see them live in Edmonton
P.s. I didn't include Exodus sometime in November cause I haven't decided about that one yet
So you don't have the two albums that everyone is calling the best album of the year so far, which are Sebastian bach and deep purple
No I haven’t picked up either of those yet & to be honest I probably won’t. Definitely not shit, I just don’t think I’d listen to them much.
I think I like your son more than I like you. He, at least, goes to see metallica unlike you, who won't go see metallica in Edmonton !!!!!!!!!
Edmonton is over 10 Hours Drive for me, that is not happening & unlike my son I’ve seen Metallica 7 times already 😉
Some great buys there me ode, nothing wrong with German Thrash, Metal & Heavy Rock, i love it and to me it's the best in the world. i'm waiting for the new Victory album as well, Culture Killed The Native is my fav of theirs by a long way. I've heard rumours that UDO is in hospital but i can't find confirmation anywhere. Accept were on the Wacken live streams and were amazing, as were Testament. My pre-orders are weird and wonderful, Heilung & In Extremo. AFM records is my go to online store atm.
