Tara, without a doubt, you are the most professional of all that I have seen over the years on the Internet. You have an ease in explaining everything that is to be learned and put into practice in a way that everyone can understand, so that even the least initiated in such a thing would be able to handle it. You are, in short, THE BEST! THANK YOU!
Hi Tara 🌞 Thank you so much for this video! It contains so much information and you articulate everything so clearly. It's really great that you put all of these stretches/exercises in this one video so I can make it a regular routine. I am so grateful for you because you have so much compassion and care so much about helping people like me with neurological mobility issues!
Thank you for watching and for your kind words. I am so glad to know these videos are helping people. I am cheering you on from afar!! You got this! Don't give up!
I find that when I walk the strap on my AFOover the ankle prevents my foot from flexing sufficiently to get a good dorsiflexion. I do squats every day and get good foot position, any suggestions to encourage better outcome
Wow. Thanks. After over 20 years of spacticy, I finally understand what is going on with my foot drop. I thought it was inflammation or something that needed meds It is overlooked in the medical system and would be helpf for all who are suffering to know and work on. The neuropathy is from the distortion I think. Thank you Tara.
THANK YOU Tara, if only the Drs/Physiotherapists here in the Spanish hospital had explained all this to me! (I'm incomplete paraplejic). Your wisdom is going to transform my life, psychologically and physically! 💙
Thanks again for a useful video. It’s quite a long one and I had to find time to sit and watch it but I’m glad I did. Some very useful information you have shared and my understanding of why I have to stretch certain muscles is better understood now. In cold weather, my foot spasticity kicks in and the leg is less inclined to bend at the knee. Also, my stroke foot is swollen (better after a nights sleep if I stick my feet out of the quilt) but worse in warm weather and I have to be careful what I wear on my feet. I could fill my small house up with physio gadgets and tools so I’m going to use the bottom step for sitting on to stretch the back of my ankle muscles.
For many years, I didn't know the terminology of my condition. However, the descriptions on this video helps me understand what I need. Education is the key. Thank you very much!
Thankyou dr Tara. Very valuable explanation . I understood all my spasticity problems and the solutions given by You. Shall implement them. Thanks a million. God bless
Thank you so much for sharing the stretch for the posterior tibialis! You've covered so much in this video that I've been trying to work on, and I appreciate you reading my mind. Lol! Thank you so much, Ms. Tobias!
Hi Tara Thank you for this info My wife is the stroke survivor having said that she has no movement from knee down she can stand on her leg but there is no movement on ankle or toes is that spasticity and what should we work on to regain ankle and toes its floppy mostly and not curled
I love your videos. this one is very helpful. stroke was 7 yeaers ago. at first I was at ShirleY RYAN ryan, Chicago, and was able to get around with a hemi cane, butthen aftter being in supportive/assistedliving, I did not have enough in home therapyso now, i haveSEVERE ankle spasticityNS in a wwheelchair i STILL CANNOT USE MY ARM
Can you please give more one how to get and exercise to get a spastic leg, knee and foot to straighten. Where do I start. Don't know if it's the knee or calf frustrated
Tara please what must I do regularly with my right spastic foot after stroke recovery .. Can a Carpenter construct a 45° board to correct my ankle flexion without the original model of Amazon?
Question. Is poor dorsiflexion considered foot drop? I can lift the front of my foot while seated (dorsiflexion) but I cannot walk on my heels . But I can walk and no trip since I have some dorsiflexion . I do have a slight slap gait when get tired. Your videos are great by the way.
One thing I noticed is whenever I’m doing stretching straight dorsiflexion, my kneel hyperextends for some reason. In that case, how do you work out both ?
This is the same problems, Ankle dropping downwards, Knee drops and shakes when he outs weight on the leg, using glutes he is not able to push forward. This prevents walking normal, what can be done to prevent knee dropping forward ?
Very useful video, sharing your knowledge, thank you. My question: why someone who is Hemiplegic can achieve knee flexion only when in sitting and leg is extended giving that stretch in the Hamstrings, and ankle held in neutral? No contraction when in prone, side lying, not to mention walking.

Question: how often should you stretch your limbs? Generally, muscles go back to the spastic position after a stretch.
Thank you so much for your, let me call it, input.

Hi Tara, I developed a knee valgus, I send 8-10 hours in a wheelchair. How do i fixed it?
One thing I noticed is whenever I’m doing stretching straight dorsiflexion, my kneel hyperextends for some reason.

My question: why someone who is Hemiplegic can achieve knee flexion only when in sitting and leg is extended giving that stretch in the Hamstrings, and ankle held in neutral?
No contraction when in prone, side lying, not to mention walking.
Note: the action( knee flexion) is performed against resistance
Thanks foe watching and for the question! Type rehab hq and stiff leg in the RUclips search bar and you will find videos on this topic
