    Thank you for this nutrition education, inflammation, and exercise. So very helpful.
    One thing, butter *is not* a trans fat. Actual butter is from the naturally occurring fat in milk. A trans fat is from a hydrogenated “created” fat: margarine, shortening such as Cristo, and the like

    Merry Christmas Dr. Tobias. I always do what you recommend, so I decided to wear an Afo. I had one made by an orthotist. It is amazing, and feels like I have a new left leg when I am walking with it. Thank you so much for all your amazing videos. I’m forever grateful for everything I received through your videos. You are amazing.❤

    I noticed that I learned what transpired in PT, OT & ST, ALL CAME TOGETHER OVERNIGHT! I made it known to ALL ATTENDING THERAPISTS, NEUROLOGISTS, PHYSIATRISTS, AND RESEARCHERS! I/they noticed it, too.

    Thanks for the methodical explanation. How long does it take for inflammation to go from acute to chronic, of course it depends on the intensity of the damage, where is that limit? Thank you. Happy New Year 2023.

      Excellent question! Chronic inflammation is the persistent recruitment of immune cells. It can last weeks, months, or a lifetime. As far as when "acute inflammation" turns to chronic inflammation, my simplified guess would be any recruitment of immune cells beyond the typical time frame that would be expected to address the initial trigger. But in some cases, the "trigger" is not an event but an accumulation of some type of cell that releases pro-inflammatory cytokines. (Ie: Adipose (fat) cells, and plaques in the blood vessels) release pro-inflammatory cytokines which keep "re-activating" the deployment of immune cells. In these latter scenarios, there is probably no acute inflammatory response and would most likely fall into what is termed systemic inflammation. Long story short, Acute inflammation does not always have to precede chronic inflammation. I hope that makes sense!

    Sativa cannabis CBD strains is helping to subdue spasticity and turning on communication between muscles and between muscles and the brain. I'm appalled by the lack of clinical studies for CBD for stroke survivors. I've been taking Charlotte's web CBD oil since January and in one month's time it's changed my life. Physical therapy is more effective when I take CBD. When I don't therapy is not as effective.

      @@gzus5943 sure thing. It's nothing short of miraculous. What I'm learning thru my own experience is that there are certain CBD dominant sativa strains that reactivate receptors for muscle control, movement and balance. Every stroke survivor should try it to see what it does for them. It prevents my nervous system from overreacting and restores sensation and feedback to the brain from areas that felt vacant before and wouldn't progress with just physical therapy. If receptors are not active you can do exercises until the cows come home. With CBD it's like fuses get turned back on. I'm in Oregon where cannabis is legal and I'm searching for a doctor to help me figure out dosage. Right now I'm doing 40 mg of CBD and 1 mg of THC also sativa. Twice a day. My spasticity has practically gone away and sensation to my left side is almost completely restored. I've learned that spasticity for me got trigered when structural support was lacking, and with restored sensation it helped me pinpoint the areas that needed strength building. My own body tells me what needs work. I feel betrayed by the medical establishment that they are failing to help patients. I mean I'm sure other people have discovered this too. I wish they would do the clinical studies needed to gather evidence. So this moves from being anecdotal into being evidence based. I wanted to find cbd clinical studies to volunteer but I can't find any. It's disheartening.

      @@maristeladiaz6155 thank you for the info; I’ve got all sensations back it’s physical movement I’m trying to regain- my left arm is very limp still, I’ve always felt let down by the medical industry too so I’m always looking for natural treatments myself, but like yourself it’s hard to find info; so far I think swimming in the hydrotherapy pool has given me the best improvements as well as a positive mindset…I’m from England myself and I’d like to say God bless and again thank you so much to you!!!

      Yes, the only way to overtake the spasms, is to strengthen and retrain the whole nervious and muscular systems, until it's a part of "habit.'

    A dear friend of mine recently had a stroke at age 72 and forwarded your video to me. You have a great ability to explain things, kindly, for us lay folks out there. I loved your content but disagree on some of your inputs.
    Within my immediate family there are several Docs, including my daughters. Also,Post Doc family at John Hopkins in Toxicology and the Human Genome work since it's infancy.
    Including my immediate family in these respective professions I find a certain kind of ignorance. That ignorance being that the macro perspective on health etc is data driven only. To use an analogy if I may: The Federal Reserve( with pride) say they base their decisions on Data. The Federal Reserve is always late and always wrong. Data is always a lagging indicator in all of life, including the Medical Profession.
    I would suggest that if you live to be 100, you'd be aghast of some of what you currently subscribe to. I don't mean any offense here, but one or two dimensional thinking is a dying paradigm which anyone in the Scientific and Medical world are akin too. A more multidimensional "thinking" paradigm is the future. Where has the wisdom in our current society gotten lost. "All things in moderation" illustrates my thoughts.

      Treatment IS multidisciplinary . Holistic approaches, are VERY ancient Chinese. There is my personal experience, being a EXTREMELY ACTIVE PERSON IN MY REHAB, I say this is the ONLY APPROACH! We are a culmination of our whole body and being.
      Dr. Tobias is giving the background knowledge, to explain what's happening and the results. Many times, individuals need to understand the WHYS, before they grasp the significance of each component of the human bodies needs.
