You made me chuckle the second you said getting in the car and that leg swoosh out.. That’s me!!
I love stepping up and down. First I started with holding onto a heavy chair, and now I can step up and down without holding onto anything. Repetition is the key. I do this activity at least 50 times every day , and keep telling myself : " I am building those neuro pathways". Now curbs will not be a challenge anymore. 😀 Thank you so much for this video just as much as for all the other great videos.♥️
I was afft. By ichimic stroke before 3m.ago, following many vedios in your columns i recover many pro..itis so much helpfuland useful for my Health.
I was wondering if there is class available or somewhere I can get assistance w my exercises
I agree repetition is key #strokewarrior
My hip is hurting,I have a stiff leg, knee wants to gg backwards or give out and my foot drags
@@tinaclampet9763 It sounds like you need a good Afo or a foot up.
Strange. I did some of these exercises in early stages of recovery without a guidance from any therapist. Understanding the forces, both static and dynamic, helped a lot. Sit and stand helped too.
Ugh getting into a car is always such a hassle. It's like my leg feels dead. Great video, as always!
Glad to see you this week! Keep practicing! It will get easier 😊
Hi.. hope you are doing fine.....are you paralyzed too??I'vbe been patralyzed for two months can't use my left side... did you recovered well?? and how much time did it tookok you to recover....help me please.. it's very depressing..

Hi A B! Thanks for watching and for sharing your story. I am so glad you find these videos helpful 😊
Look up Trevor Wicken and the MS gym if you haven't already.
Hello my body upper body is so heavy...

Hi Khalil! Thanks for watching and for sharing your story. This is a very common problem. Please see the videos I have linked in the description below the video. You will find them helpful :)
Dr tara I want to thank you for your dedication to helping us 💕
This is my number one issue. My leg becomes extremely stiff when standing or I feel anxious. I remember what you said about trying to stay relaxed and calm the brain.
I will be adding these activities to my daily workout.
Thanks so much for doing these videos. ❤
Hi Kathy! Glad you found this one helpful :) Can't wait for you to post an update on your progress!!
Same to me and also when I get nervous sometimes it starts to shake .I try to breath deep.
I have the stuff leg when I get anxious or in front of a crowd, when I practice by myself I do pretty good!😁
🌸💜🌸 Dear Dr. Tara,
thank you very much for your super videos, which really shot me back to normal life. Now 3 years post stroke, the left leg is still giving me a funny walk and the left arm/hand is still only half working. It will never be the same as before, but I'm using every possibility for a nice stretch or reach.
But with the help of you and my PT I am not any more constantly feeling handicapped or not able to live a normal life, but I now rather concentrate on my new online business, new friendships and new ways of activity.
So, I am saying goodbye to the constant rehab life and hello to the new super charged life in a different but very fun and proud way.
Thank you for everything Dr. Tara!Stay safe and say hello to Chico, Love, Nina 🌸💜🌸💜🌸💜🌸
Hi Nina! Thanks for the update! I am so happy for you! I have missed seeing you in he comments the last couple of weeks. Now I know why. Wishing you all the best with the new business! Hope you will stop in every now and again just to say hello😊 I will update Chico. I am sure he will miss the week wishes as well. 🐶🌸
@@rehabhqofficial Sure! I say hello again, just do not take so much time any more for rehab... I hope many of your patients and followers have the opportunity to get their lives normalized and happy again!! 🌸🌸🌸💜🌸🌸
I have sent you a DM on Instagram.
You doing great work doctor .. love from india 👌
Thanks for watching and for the kind words!
what can i say? finding your videos and listening your words has been a true miracle. thank you so much!
Hello Dr. Tara, please do a video on excessive anterior pelvic tilt, and how that can affect the lower limb motor recovery and balance. That will be beneficial for people with stroke or other neuromuscular conditions .
Thanks for watching and for the question! This is an interesting suggestion. Can you tell me more about your condition?
You’re changing my life. Thank you.
Thanks for the new look at proper walking. I think the problem of my ankle flexion inhibits knee flexion and hip stretching, thus creating stiffness in gait. I will try to fix that with the exercises you have shown. I would stand out sitting exercise with a skateboard as great for hip extension and breaking the abnormal synergism of the extensor. Have a nice week
Fantastic video once again!!
Thanks for sharing...
Very beautiful knowledge given take care in his life 😮
Hi Tara. I'm a stroke survivor from the Philip. I'm 1 year 3 months post stroke. Slowly recovering.. But I still do T have sensation on my affected side. Will appreciate if you can do a video on recovering ones sensation. Thanks, your videos are a, lot of help.

Thank you Dr Tara such invaluable information which has helped me.
Fantastic Dr.Tara!! It helped a lot!!!
Stress and depression is also a major issues that causes off cordination and inbalance. What helped me was to make my spine as straight and vivid as possible to save up energy that i overused on my legs and feet... its all about balance and to block all negative bullshit like my ex.. new chapter and a new begingin with a different and healtier mindset
@😅😅😊

Hi Karen! Thanks for watching. Glad you found this one helpful!
Do you any driving after stroke videos please?
That works! ♥️ I just have to slow down when I’m walking, so I can relax the knee to kick my foot out better then walking with a stiff knee right
I'm working on that to lifting from hip and butt muscle and then pushing my foot forward. But I have to go slow to
It's maddening. All the thinking and talking to myself just to Move is so tiring. I'm sure you know. Relax, lift. Force it forward. Try not to lose balance. Remember to exhale!! Shoulders down. Look forward. Straighten the back. Open the chest. And Look Natural!!!
That said, the RELAX tip is a game changer!! Thanks, doctor!
thanks for the videoupdate.
Learning every week! (Huge fan of Teepa Snow!).
Me too!
My affected right body upper body so much heavy along my right too

So convicted and wondering. Definitely me.
I focused on these this week and walked my 1.25 mile river walk and did better especially on the transitions to different types of ground, dirt, rocks, brick, wood bridge😊. I try to walk once a week as my “test” of how I'm doing. Yesterday's walk was exciting as we had a herd of deer 🦌 stampede us right before we crossed a small bridge!!

@@rehabhqofficial I always do if not it just reinforces what I think I know which is also good, ha
I had tried a elbow immobilizer to keep my arm straight .That seem to help me quite a bit
After 29 years with MS I have Lymphedema in both legs, worse in the right leg, mostly above the knee. That's the bad leg, its super heavy and won't bend right. Getting in and out of the car is so painful and when driving, using that right leg to stop and accelerate, I feel like screaming because the pain radiates up into my hip and groin areas down to my toes. I'm doing all the exercises I can to correct the situation. My neurologist is not helpful at all.
Thanks
Thank you!
Thanks for watching Randy! I hope it was helpful :)

Let me know if you have a link anything that you have. Thank you

Good ideas here. Im almost 2 years post stroke. My left side is my affected side. I use my son's skateboard. I also like using the wedge for bridges. 👍 I walk better at home than when im out. Although i have relatively normal range of movement. Does carpet vs pavement have any effect on walking?
