- This is the Walrus Audio Fathom Multi-Functional Reverb Pedal. It sounds even better than it looks. With four different modes, consisting of Hall, Plate, Lo-Fi, and Sonar, the tonal capabilities of this little blue box can do wonders in the realm of reverb. Some of the features includes the Modulation switch ranging from low, medium, and high, and the "X" knob. This knob effects the pre-delay for Hall and Plate settings, a filter for Lo-Fi, and a blend of low and high octaves in the Sonar mode. There is also a Sustain Function with an individual foot switch and a Momentary Function that is engaged when the Bypass foot switch is held and released.
Demo Time Marks:
0:40 Hall Mode
2:46 Plate Mode
5:02 Lo-Fi Mode
6:33 Momentary Function
6:53 Sonar Mode
9:15 Sustain Function
10:02 Favorite Settings
10:20 Walrus Audio Mayflower Overdrive
11:12 TC Electronic Flashback Delay
13:27 Volume Swells
This demo was played through a Veritas Portlander into a Roland JC-22 mic'ed with a Sennheiser 609 and a Shure SM57.

great video, I just ordered this pedal. Very excited to use it. Seems quite useable for subtle and dreamscape. Thanks for making this.
Thanks man! That’s awesome! Yea you can do a lot with the fathom. It’s super versatile
I swear almost every time I use this pedal, I found myself in a new realm of myself.
Right?! I feel the same the sonar setting sends me far 😂
Brilliant demo. Done absolutely no help with stopping me wanting one.
Stephen Daly dude! Thanks a lot man. It won’t end until you get it. And you’ll never regret it!
Your playing is good man. Love it
Thanks that means a lot!
Great demo thanks. And your playing is lovely.
Thanks so much! This one was super fun!
Wow! What a great demonstration of the pedals capabilities. And your playing is superb. Looking forward to more demos.
VikingWizard thank you so much man! That means a lot. There will definitely be more to come!
Great demo man! I’m in the market for a reverb pedal and I’m leaning towards this one. I have the arp 87 and it sounds amazing.
Shanto XD Manoukian can’t believe I missed this! Really appreciate it. The Fathom and the Arp go great together. What a dream!
Awesome demo bro
Thanks man! This is a special one. My first one using a legit camera 😂 was a fun one
Top notch demo - Thanks!
Bob Mac thanks man!! This was my first legit production. It’s a special one!
@@nobesmusicwell it was perfect - I'll start checking out your other stuff now. Thanks
Bob Mac awesome! Appreciate the support 👌🏽
You do great demos my friend! Thank you!
Thanks that means a lot!! Have more coming!
Duuuude. Such tasteful voicings
Thanks so much man!
@@nobesmusic I’ve come back to this video years later to thank you for helping me buy this pedal. This and SLO are the best investment I ever made. Both are same yet different,I don’t think I can explain it but I sure can feel it. Hope you’re still making music for us. Thank you.
@@mrmohantyexperiments that is awesome! For sure, and yea I totally feel you. I have both and feel like slo has more of a niche for that ambient side and the fathom has a better all around feel. But they are brothers for sure 🔥
May I know the title of the song at 2:46? It's so beautiful.
Thank you so much!! I’m just came up with that on the spot though haha no name
@@nobesmusic it sounds so heartwarming. Would love to hear a full length song of it. Thank you for your music!
@@brokenhands6382 man thank you so much! Maybe someday!
Your demos are great man, also the hall algorithm on this pedal is one of the best I've ever used. Does it sound the same as the hall setting on the R1?
Thanks man! Means a lot! I’m actually not that sure, they both sound so good. I gotta try them out together and compare
Wow the best demo so far! You actually made me buy this one today LOL! Hey do you mind doing a demo but using an acoustic guitar and the different ambient texture from this pedal?
That is AWESOME! Thanks for watching man! And that a great idea, I’ll definitely look into it!
@@nobesmusic have you tried the SLO? If you have to choose between them which one would you stick with?
@@GiovannyAlabi1 I actually haven't but it sounds so sick! they are both killer, and I can do a lot of ambient stuff with the Fathom, but it seems like the Slo is just a bit more designed for that. What kind of music are you trying to play?
@@nobesmusic I play worship, but my main instrument is the acoustic guitar which I use some Effects to create some ambient texture. Currently working in my new small rig:
1st Signal line: Guitar > Tuner > LR Baggs Para DI > Main House
2nd Line: From the PARA DI FX loop out go to > Lucky Cat Delay > Spring Tank Reverb > Fathom > Main House
@@GiovannyAlabi1 is say the fathom is more of a working mans reverb that can do a lot of different things. From small to large halls and plates but also the cool lofi and sonar, which you can both low and high octaves or just low or high. It’s super usable!
I own this pedal and it sounds absolutely amazing, the only thing that I would change is the Plate Reverb function, it is too similar to the Hall one, I'd prefer something totally different. In conclusion really a great pedal, it also has secret delay function which can be activated pressing the sustain button while turning the program knob from H to S
Yea love this thing! I actually prefer the hall to the plate setting. And no way!! I gotta try that!
Amazing sounds. But I have to wonder what I would use it for in a band setting. The intricacies and nuances of the effects wouldn’t even be heard through the mains. I love it though.
Thanks! It definitely depends on what genre you play. The cool thing though is the fathom can do everything from subtle verbs, to big halls, and experimental verbs! I use it for so much. I just played Sony Hall today and the sound engineer complimented my reverb sounds. So they definitely heard it! 👌🏽
I'm partial to the Slo, but I wish it had stereo output. I'm using a Flashback with a very short delay set to ping-pong to fake stereo separation with the Slo right now.
Daemon Electricity I haven’t been able to try the slö yet! But they are applicable to many styles of playing. And wow that’s good idea! I am also a stereo lover, especially with delays and reverb. Walrus Audio is definitely making moves into stereo though! The D1 Delay is insane, and it’s pretty safe to assume that there will be more stereo effects within that Mako Series! I’m STOKED and can’t wait!
Cloudburst ,fathom or fable
Oopphhh good choices. Cloudburst if you care for stereo, fathom if you want everything from subtle or normal verbs all the way to crazy ambient sounds, and fable if you are trying to get to the wildest ethereal soundscapes you can make
I was drueling over the guitar... i did end up buying this pedal.
Dude I drool every day haha. And that’s killer! The fathom is killer
last on the chain?
Yessir!
The Lofi and Momentary Function are super cool. What are your thoughts on this vs the Slö?
The Counter Tyrant dude it’s such a great pedal and I completely agree. Probably the coolest LoFi reverb sound out. I actually haven’t tried the Slö personally, but from what I hear, it sounds like the Slö has that extra push for more ambient stuff. I mean the Fathom covers that territory really well, but it seems like the Slö was literally made to play slow haha. I think the Fathom also has an emphasis on the whole modulation warble thing. But I would really have to play the Slö to give you an accurate response!
@@nobesmusic yeah, I've been listening to Synthwave for a few years and have just recently gotten into lofi stuff like Final Fantasy X soundtrack and that sound just draws me in and I'd like to make some stuff with it. I may get both, not sure lol atm. My signal chain atm is Korg Pitchblack Tuner > EHX Synth 9 > EHX Freeze > Walrus Audio War Horn > EHX Ram's Head Big Muff Pi Reissue > MXR Analog Chorus > Walrus Audio ARP-87
The Counter Tyrant love Synthwave man! I have fallen in love with The Midnight. And I have actually recorded some tracks for this cool band OM-53. You should check them out. That sounds like a sweet setup. The Fathom or Slö would be a killer addition. Both would be a DREAM!
@@nobesmusic The Midnight is fantastic! Excellent way to take an old sound and make it new again, wish they were on the radio. I'll check OM-53 out! I've never heard a bad Synthwave song, which is hard to say for any genre. I definitely want to eventually branch out and do collab stuff at one point or another. There was a really cool RUclips band that collaborated with musicians around the world doing video game music, HappyFunTimeBand, I think? They did Streets of Rage stuff, which is cool. maybe we could pair up one day? I'm sure we could find a cool drummer and bass player
