I don't disagree with using a breaker, but a 200A breaker on #10 wire? #10 will melt well below 200A. Effectively, your 200A breaker will only be a disconnect for you...
I just installed the larger version of this battery box on my travel trailer last week. I did not get the solar charger on mine. I put 2 Battleborn batteries in it and mounted a battery disconnect on the back side. The bigger box comes with a metal divider. So the other half of the box is storage for now. But there is room for 2 more Battleborn batteries if I want to put them in there. The straps that comes with the battery box worked perfectly with the slots on each side of the Battleborn batteries.
You might want to order a replacement for that breaker…. 200 amps is effectively non-fused for that size wire and will offer no protection at all. You can get those same breakers on Amazon for like $20 or so in something like 60 amps, which would work a lot better for that size wire.
@@BTBRVReviews yeah, I saw you said that… but in case the wire gets pinched and shorts out, there should be some protection as close to the battery as possible so I would ignore their recommendation 🤣. Nice setup though, and the solar charging for the battery will be nice to keep it topped off.
You don't want the cheap knock off breakers. They are unreliable and do not provide adequate protection. One of the solar guys tested them and they overheated and tripped way off rating.
I like the battery box, and your complete set-up. I have two 6 volt-golf cart batteries replacing my standard 12-volt deep cycle battery. I requires a larger battery box, but, is a much more robust battery system than the single 12-volt. Do they make one of these locking, solar powered battery boxes to accommodate the two 6-volt batteries? Happy Camping
You may want to rotate the jack to one of the jack bolt holes to turn the jack motor to clear tail gate of truck. Also reduce how far jack pad is extending below frame. Catching one good bump will bend your jack frame mounting point.
Since you're running wires on the inside of the trailer anyway go ahead and mountainous solar charger you have on the inside of the trailer you just run the wires around
Nice work. Only suggestion is to switch the anti-corrosion felts. So that way the red is on the positive side. Less chance of screwing up and hooking things backwards since we automatically know red is positive
200A breaker? That isn’t protecting anything. Should be 30A Max. Wires would melt first. Also that box is weather resistant enough you could use almost any solar charge controller…
$500? Wow! I get showing off technology but who would really need to have a power jack on a light trailer that may even interfere with the tailgate? Plus it seems slow compared to hand cranking. The small solar panel is little more than a trickle charge tender for the battery. Any large amount of current draw would require a fair amount of time to bring the level back up. Also the placement of the power jack on the outside is curious, why not have the connection inside, out of the way? For that kind of money you could have a large solar panel(s) on the roof properly charging a battery which could even handle a moderate wattage AC inverter while keeping the hand crank. Interesting video as always, keep them coming.
An empty 10’ trailer can be lifted on/off the hitch with little trouble. This would be beneficial for a much larger trailer but way over kill on this application
I was a little shocked at the sticker price. They are really proud of those battery boxes.

Thank you for this info.
I'm actually looking for a utility trailer now and this battery box is JUST WHAT I NEED / WANT!!
Great timing my friend.
I like this. Looking at converting a cargo trailer to a toy hauler for UTV. This might be a good thing to have for it. Good ideas to go with.

Excellent ideas for all trailers! Thanks!
At this point I’ve accepted that JD is more capable than I am while working with only one hand…..
You work with one hand extremely well. Good job
Surprised the solar panel is not self regulating, especially at that price.
Well, a 10watt panel charging a relatively large battery will be self regulating almost by design.

Agreed. But it's what I have. The manufacturer of the jack says not to install a breaker. So this is pretty close :)

Strongly agree

Very nice setup.
Anything other than high noon, shade will drastically reduce panel output...either the main body of the trailer or the jack.
I saw your legs in the diamond plate.... you are the master of camera angles...🤣🇺🇸

Very cool..
Good info thanks

Nice setup! Pricy but you get what you pay for.
JD, great video. Question for you. How often do you need to grease an electric tongue Jack, if you have to at all.
Hey JD in searching everywhere what brand of trailer tongue lock is that??

Very nice set up , wire management is quite sloppy. Could use some detail for such a set up.

I think it's only designed to be a replacement for a trickle charger.

Nice set up , I am sure this would be stolen at some off premise storage lots…..the rats are constantly looking for anything they can grab…..
Evening
Thank You
Again Thank You Big Truck & Big RVs
Thank You Again
Please use a tripod. Would make the videos so much better.
Didn't show the memory features of the jack. :-(
Man, that’s a lot of time, effort, and money to get out of a little cranking. Maybe if it powered a powerful trailer dolly.
On second thought why not just use the drill for the existing jack.
I had it laying around, why not?
I turned my jack sideways so I could open my tailgate
Can u send me everything u got for your I want it just like that one so I can order mine...thanks you
How about during a tripod look more professional
Not sure what that is
