  • This is a sharpness test of the Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM vs. the Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM to find out which lens is better.
There will be 3 rounds: Sharpness in the middle of the image, Sharpness in the corner of the image and Diffraction.
    0:00 Introduction
1:14 Round 1 (Sharpness in the middle)
2:25 Round 2 (Sharpness in the corner)
    3:32 Round 3 (Diffraction)
    4:17 Conclusion
The lenses were tested using a Canon M50 camera set at 24 Megapixels. As this video focuses only on sharpness performance, the following in-camera corrections where turned on during testing: Peripheral illumination correction, distortion correction and chromatic aberration correction. Diffraction corrections were turned off.
Both lenses were mounted on a Canon M50 camera using the Canon EF-EOS M Mount Adapter that doesn`t affect image quality because it doesn`t have any optical elements.

Thanks for the recommendation! I also go outside in my other videos, especially the longer ones where I do full reviews.

Bro m50 with 24mm 2.8 is more sharpness than rp kit Lens 24-105 f4-7.1?

A prime lens, like the 24mm f2.8, often delivers better image quality than a zoom lens because it has fewer moving parts. For example, when we compare it to the 24-105mm f4-7.1 zoom lens, it's noticeably sharper. The 24-105mm lens performs okay at 24mm, better at 55mm, and it's pretty good at 105mm. So, when we talk about sharpness, the 24-105mm lens is generally above average, but the prime lens still stands out.

Questions let's say I want to take some photos at a band that is playing at a restaurant. Stage has lights and gig is at night. Which is the best lence to use

The short answer is that you need both. The long answer depends on how far away is the stage, how crowded is the place (if you have space to move around). I assume that you have an APS-C sensor Canon camera, since the 24mm f/2.8 from this video will not work on Full Frame cameras - the list goes on. I would find a way to borrow both (especially if I were to be someone that never photographed in that scenario) and see what works out. There is also the option to borrow a fast zoom lens like a 24-70mm f/2.8, there are shops that offer rentals.
