  • Narcissistic people often make statements, decisions or plans based on their emotional state at that moment. They can change their mind to protect their ego, to assert control, or because they are seeking the short term reward that comes with instant gratification. Their ever shifting moods and whims can drive those around them crazy.
This livestream looks at ways to manage their inconsistency and unpredictability. Hope to see you then

Once I started journaling everything began to become clear ... best habit I took up. Within a few months I could see what was going on with far more clarity, it really helped me go NC for the final time. Its well over a year ago now!

Word of caution.. I did this. I managed my expectations and lowered the bar soooo low that all I get is bread crumbs. I thought this was the right thing to do, because I didn’t deserve better. But I do deserve better and so do you.

I have been doing this myself. It's in dealing with my late Sons narcissist wife. 2 Granddaughters. I get breadcrumbs at best. But I try , one grand has the traits of narcissist behavior. They remain under the spell of the narcs. They are now in the path of the hurricane as are the narc . Other. Just trying to obtain their safety takes some muscle.

@@tbacon2784 I'm in that boat today. I'm in so much rage today with these narcissists I have been left with. Just an inquiry of my one Granddaughters well being in the huricane is all I can take. I really think I'll need to cut bait and stop welfare checks. They are obnoxious people. Only one is not narcissistic.
My late son's wife and her mother and one sorry Granddaughter are sickening. I love her so much but it's awful. I can't do it. 😭

You're correct about being creative. Especially writing music and playing. It helps keep the blues away , expressing yourself.

Here is an example of something that happened to me recently. I sent a text message regarding an incident that happened and I said “I can’t bring myself to do this without an explanation or understanding as to what happened“
They interpreted it as “I can’t continue to do this“ and then they fired back at me Text after Text after Text after Text after Text after Text after Text after Text, how I said, “I can’t continue” without taking the whole text and all of the words I used into consideration versus just that one part. It’s maddening what they do and they absolutely do it on purpose. They know what we meant. They just didn’t want to be accountable so they act crazy. Gives them control. Then as the last result, they threatened to quit or to do something drastic that again is being said or done only for control. I just think the minute you know what you’re dealing with you just have to get away because they’re just very dangerous people to someone’s mental health and stability and sense of reality. They should all be isolated and quarantined on some deserted island.

This is one of the most unsettling and destructive things I face trying to navigate “staying well” while in regular contact with a couple of very close people in my life. Thank you, Darren… very much!

Quite often they hoover because they enjoy seeing if you've been wounded by the discard, they check out whether you've recovered or have moved on, its a form of sabotaging you from moving on! So a clean break is best for you. They love to play mind games, so they hoover to see if they can play with your emotions a bit more, they get supply from doing this.

I have been in a long term relationship…just uncovered what’s been happening…situations from 17 plus years ago being thrown at me today!!I couldn’t help but ask if it was so offensive why did you stay so long!it took me a while to figure out what they were even talking about it so long ago.
I feel sad really but forever thankful that I now understand npd.I lived in years of confusion prior either being discarded or apologising for things I hadn’t even done!

What is very perplexing to me is how the covert narcissist in my life can be almost obsessively, consistent in keeping promises, fulfilling expectations, and being kind to her friends, her coworkers, her children, and her siblings, while doing the opposite and displaying almost all the characteristics of CN as you have described them toward me. Any suggestions as to why that might be?
