Kuul, I have 3 X 1964 full band dimes- never touched, sealed in plastic. Phillys There are stunningly brilliant! Thank you for this info, I would never have known.

Extremely interesting. The band's are tricky as I have seen them GRADED and I was looking at the band's thinking they should have looked more defined. THANK YOU Daniel.

They should look like a loaf of fresh bread IMHO. Fully split and rounded for the FSB designation.

I bought a 1945 Mercury (at least what it said on the PCGS holder graded ms66) that looked like it could possibly be upgraded to full-bands. If it would have it definitely would've been worth the money. Come to find out, PCGS had initially made a clerical error and put 1945 when it was actually a 1943. Thanks for another great video.

Dan, you made a comment in one of your videos about a month ago about social media's impact on numismatics...I am seeing what you commented on over and over how RUclips and other media are helping to boost the industry. Solid observation...

Thanks again, Daniel!! I reckon the FB 1945 Philly Merc is the collection cruncher!😖 But the Merc editor in the Mega Red Book recommends that it would be better to put all the money it would take to get one into a nice selection of other coins!!

I just found a 1940 mercury dime with excellent detail on the back I can see all the ribbons on back the lines in the pole the blade the details in the leaves. Had no idea what it was. I can't believe it. I'm not a coin collector but I do keep any coins I find before my birth year of 77. I have a lot but never looked into what's what. Just saw this dime and was like what the heck is this. Thought is wat foreign for a min. It's kinda discolored and after watching this video it has no mint mark... Should I send it off to be graded?

My LCS does not send off coins for grading, and I'd rather not set up a membership with the top graders...which grade would you then recommend? IGC or ANNACS? I have a few examples that I'd like to send in, just to see what the grading experience is like. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Keep doing what you do👍

    Good info!!
Fyi, I don't know if you know, but the video that bought me to you and made me want to subcribe is the "unsearched" wheat cents rolls video from a few months ago.
I did go ahead and pick a random seller on eBay and I bought several rolls for my daughter and I to have fun at Christmas!! I'll let you know if I'm satisfied or disappointed, I'll also give you an idea of what we found in the hunt! I know it's a gamble but it's for entertainment not thinking I'm going to get a 1909S VDB!! Even though that would be 1 in billion shot and I'd welcome it VERY GLADLY!!!
    Have a GREAT Day!!!!

Even among full band Mercury dimes, there is a big variation in quality. If I'm going to pay the premium for Full Bands, I'd expect the bands to be FULLY split, with no waviness or variation in the trough between the bands, AND the bands should be fully rounded and stick up out of the coin. Some full bands Mercury dimes can have a poor strike in other areas or be from a late die state and show mushiness in the rim lettering and metal flow lines. These coins are unacceptable. I think it makes more sense to buy a non-full bands coin that is CLOSE to full bands and also has a good strike in other areas. Sometimes you can get three or more of this type of coin for the price of a graded Full Bands coin. In the future, I think the major grading companies will begin to differentiate between quality Full Bands coins and those which are not. The picky collectors will do well when that happens.

Good morning Daniel from the shaky side of the country. Full bands, full torch and full bell lines are tough in that they must be fully unbroken and are often not. I have some in Merck’s and a a couple FDR’s and Franklin halves that I cherry picked the slightest break in the lines can disqualify it as full.
Thanks for a great video on this subject.

What kills me though James is that you see them graded fb all the time with interrupted bands and the same for fullsteps on the 5c.If i sent one in for grading it would never get the designated fb unless it was perfect, lol.

As someone new to coins this doesn't explain bands nearly enough. I need 101 definitions on the terms FIRST. So, I'll find a different video. You only have info for people who know the terms.

You should never be so dependent on videos to teach you everything, there’s plenty of books and resources to learn what you need to know. You are going to get all kinds of bad information relying on other people so much.
